Rachael had her hand on her door to open it when it moved for her. "Oh" she said and laughed a short laugh. "Thanks." Yup, not the old Paul. "To go from kicking sand in my face, and destroying my sand castles to opening doors and taking me to Mexican." She teased to lighten the mood. "You have changed since I have been gone." Getting out she moved out of the way so the door could be shut and then wondered if she should walk next to him or beside him.
(Yes, they were different options) Next to him like she would with Jake, or beside him like she would with. . . . Had in her high school day dreams. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He kicked sand in her face? "I kicked sand in your face?" He did not remember that at all. Had he really done that? It must have been a long time ago. It sounded like something he would do, back in his childhood years . . . actually, it could have very well been something he had done when he was in high school too. But he would have remembered it more clearly . . . or so he thought. "As long as I changed for the better, then I have no problem with that," he said grinning as he shut the door behind her and locked the car. He put the keys in his pocket and began to walk towards the restaurant, being sure that he did not go too far ahead, but rather at an even pace. . . not that he was over thinking it. Paul tended not to over think anything.
As long as he changed into someone she could see herself being with . . . he had no problem with change. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Did I really ruin your sand castle?" He asked as he held the door to the restaurant open for her.

"Yes, Paul." She said, Wait, did he put HER keys in HIS pocket? "I was eight. I was on the beach with . . . umm, Bella Swan, a friend of the family's and you ran by, kicked over our castle, into our face, and I told Bella, that I hoped a shark ate you."
She smiled up at him. "I didn't know then that First Beach was basically sharkless." It had some big fish, but sharks didn't really come his far north. "You mother said you were 'spirited', when I told on you later, and I told her you were a brat and I got grounded for a week."
Her smiled faded, "It was the last summer my Mom was alive. It's why I remember everything I can about it." ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul couldn't help but smile at the story. He was about to tease her for remembering everything so vividly, but when she explained it was the last summer she spent with her mother, he stopped himself. No wonder she remembered it that well. "In that case, I'm sorry I ruined your sand castle. I didn't realize it would traumatize you," he said jokingly, smiling and trying not to disrespect the memories she had of her mother.
"And I'm sorry you got grounded. . . my mom never told me about that. She might have tried, but . . . well, I guess my memory isn't as good as yours, but I get why you remember it so well." He was not good at the whole empathy bit, so wasn't going to try to go there. If it was something she felt comfortable talking about, he would listen . . . but he was not good at consoling others. He was more the kind of guy who aggravated them and thus creating a situation where they needed consoling.

"I wasn't tru--yeah yeah" She said letting it go. "I still hope a shark bits you." She teased and winked at him. She was closer to the door when they got to it, but she paused to see if he would open it, or what he would do. "Good think you don't plan to leave La Push, since their is nothing bigger then bears here." She was teasing but little did she know what was bigger then bears out here. ((Icons not of my own making. Paul laughed at her joking remark. "Considering there are no sharks near by . . . you might have to wish for a bear eating me instead." Her next remark made him smile, but because it was ironic. If only she knew about what really existed in La Push. He would have to tell her eventually, but for now . . . he would keep her sheltered from the monsters and true protectors of La Push. He did in fact pick up on the clue, and opened the door for her. He would have to be extra polite tonight if he wanted to make a good enough impression to gain him a second date. "Don't forget the mountain lions." They were not as much in La Push, as they were in other areas in Washington, but still . . . it was better than saying were wolves.

Rachael laughed, "No, no, it's not the same. I has to be a shark." She really didn't want to think about something happening to Paul. He had stood for all her dreams of becoming bold. When she would day dream and pretend she was bold and beautiful, one of the firs things that always happened was Paul noticing her and then becoming bold together. "Don't forget wolves in your list. I hear there were some big ones, not to long ago." ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul had to keep from laughing at the wolf comment . . . so he just gave a skewed smile instead. He wanted to blurt out the truth, but knew that now was not the right time. The others didn't even know he imprinted on her. They would find out next patrol though . . . he was actually excited to find out Jacob's reaction. It was enough for Paul to look forward to a good fight. But for now, he would rest his entire attention to this woman, who was now the center of his universe.
"Shark, wolf, bear . . . either way, you're saying I deserve to be bit, is that it?" He asked, slightly raising an eyebrow and he pretended to be offended.

"By a shark." She teased, " More teeth that way." She walked into the place and gave the host a small smile, before whispering to Paul. "It would leave a bigger scar, you should show it off to the next girl you picked up on the beach." She said trying to sound as easy going as he did sometimes. Casual. Fun. Care free. Yeah! Trying to sound like Paul. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He chuckled while holding up two fingers to let the host know how many of them there were. He followed her to the table, walking alongside Rachael. The next girl he picked up. There wasn't going to be a next girl; there was only her, and there would only ever be her in his life. "Maybe I don't want to show it off to all the ladies. I would only want to show it off to one, and that one happens to be who wished it upon me." He wanted her to know that he was taking this date seriously. Even if he was not going to profess his love to her tonight, he wanted her to know that he was not just fooling around . . . that he really did care for her, even if it all seemed sudden -- which it technically was.

Rachael felt her self blush, as she took her seat. She wasn't sure how to take that comment. She could take it as 'WOW, Paul was good at romancing the ladies' or take it as something more special. After a few moments of watching his face she took it as the later one, blush deeper and smiled a bit brighter. She liked the thought of Paul finally seeing her, and liking what he saw.
"In that case, I hope it's a little shark." No scars for her Paul. Not that he was her's. She looked up at the waitor walked over when the hostess had left. When he introduced him self as Inigo, asked about their drinks, Rachael gave a polite, "Sprite or anything caffeine less, please." ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He smiled as she blushed. It would only encourage him to say more things along the lines of what he was saying right now. He was not used to being so romantic . . . especially not since he started phasing, for he barley had any time to invest more energy into a relationship. But this was obviously different. "Coke for me," he ordered, not even looking at Inigo as he found himself unable to look away from Rachael. He could get a perfect view of her now, as she sat across from him.
"I'll have to behave then if I want to go from a little shark to no shark at all. So far, I've managed to at least downsize the size of it," he said grinning.

She laughed as she said that and then bit her bottom lip. Wow. She liked comments like that, but comments like that from PAUL. Yeah, wow! "You might have to behave allot." She said playfully, "You did kick sand in my face, and ruin a castle." She was only joking, she didn't expect him to do anything ti make up for it. She wondered if she would comment on taking her sister to the prom. She decided not to. She didn't want to ruin the moment. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Oh I think I can manage that," he said giving her a bit of a flirtatious wink. He chuckled when she reminded him of what he had done so many years ago. "Man, I am really going to have to do something to make that up to you. This dinner isn't going to cover it, is it?" He pretended to think. "Hm . . . would two dinners cover it? Three? Or is the only way I can make it up to you is building another sand castle? I should warn you in advance though, sand is not my friend."

"Dinner will make up for the sand in the face. . . . but that castle. . . it was my favorite." It had not even been a square yet but he didn't know that. "I think your going to have to go down to the beach with me, tonight, and rebuild it. It's the only way to make it right," She teased, "You have to rebuild my castle you killed."
The waiter came up at that moment. "You should see my sand castles!" He sat their drinks down, "They are big!" ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul liked the idea of them going to the beach tonight. "Uh oh . . . well, you've been warned. Don't laugh at me if my sand castle is not -- " And that was when the waiter intervened. Paul looked at him; no, not just looked . . . he glared at him. In fact, he gave him a murderous glare. Was this guy flirting with Rachael? It sounded like a pretty inappropriate thing to say, and the only one who should be flirting with Rachael was him. "Don't make me destroy yours too," he said, clenching his fists, and trying to control his jealousy. If he phased right here and now . . . it would not be good. Not only would he frighten Rachael, he would rip apart this Inigo guy.

Both Rachael and the waiter turned to look at Paul at the same moment when he spoke, and both their eyes widened slightly. The man actually took a step away. Rachael's mouth didn't fall open dramatically but he did hang there a moment. The waiter recovered first by taking out his pad and clicking his pen. "Pardon, I meanly was commenting on my favorite past time. It's about all there is to do in a small town." He said watched Paul, took another step back, "Ready to order or do you need more time?" "Maybe you should find something else to do, or keep your hobbies to yourself." Pervert! He did not care if he was making a scene. "Chicken Quesedilla and a starter of Nachos." He mumbled his order. The only tip this guy was going to get was to stay away from him if he valued his life. His expression softened a bit when he looked at Rachael. He could never glare at her the same way. "Ready to order Ray?" He wanted this guy to leave and only come back with the food. He did not want him to keep coming back for their order.

There went the fun mood. She wondered why Paul reacted this way. Was he one of those quick to temper guys now? "Can I just a mixed Fajita please?" She gave the waiter an 'I'm so sorry' smile then looked back at Paul when he wanted away. She wondered if sandcastle were a good idea now, or what. After watching him for a moment, she gave him a small smile and then picked up her drink. Oh darn. She forgot to order no ice. With out drinking she sat it back down. ((Icons not of my own making. An instant calm took over when the waiter left. That was part of the beauty of imprinting . . . she could keep him calm when he needed it most. "Is everything okay?" He asked, as he did notice the fact that she had set down her drink. Oh no. Were they going to have to call for Inigo again. Maybe there was another waiter nearby. "Need something?" He asked, already looking around from his seat.

"I just forgot to order no ice. No worries, I can just reorder or use a straw." She didn't want more trouble. She opened her straw and put it in her drink. "All better." She didn't like ice, but she could pretend tonight so there would be no more, of Random Paul. She looked around for a moment, feeling slightly awkward. "You know, I was joking about the castle. You don't have to do anything." She said both trying to fill the space and giving him an out. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul wanted this night to be perfect, and if that meant no ice . . . then there would be no ice in her drink. When he saw Inigo walking by, he had to refrain from rolling his eyes. "Hey, sand man." Stay calm Paul, stay calm. The fact that Mr Sand Man was now playing in his head made it easier to keep from tearing him apart. "Can you get her another drink, one without ice." He asked nicely . . . or so Paul thought. It wasn't like he had demanded another drink, he just failed to add a 'please' and 'thank you'.

Rachael almost groaned. Sandman? "No, no. It's ok." She said but the waiter just smiled, as if he understood and took her glass. Rachael looked over at Paul, and waited to shake him but didn't want to cause a sceen so she just sat there. . . .
Screw it! She would pull a Paul, with Paul, on Paul. "I see the old Paul was just in hiding." She gave him a annoyed smile. She didn't comment more but he was being rude to poor Inigo! She hoped Paul at lest tipped the poor man big for the run around he was giving him. Rachael used to be be a waitress. If Paul didn't, she would.[/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Paul didn't understand. He was trying to be nice . . . he was trying to impress her . . . and yet, he felt like he was failing. Her comment didn't seem like a joke, not like how she had made the shark one. But he would not apologize for the way he was. He would have to be more polite around her, yes . . . but he was not going to apologize for not liking their waiter who was clearly flirting with his date. "Its the same Paul," he said smiling, trying to see how he could explain this leaving out the wolf details. "You just bring the better side of me out . . . certain other people bring out the opposite side."

"So the waiter, brings out bad Paul?" She asked, and shook her head. "He was just being nice. I don't understand how you could not like someone so fast." Then again, Paul did everything fast! She was about to say something but Inigo came up to set her drink down, and he was about to walk away before Rachael quickly said, "Thank you, every much." He just smiled and walked on, getting the point that he was not welcome around Paul.
Looking back at him she raised her brows. "See. Nice."[/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"I would be more nice to a guy who wasn't flirting with my date," he said in a clear voice, half hoping that Inigo could hear him. What a creep. If he did anything else, Paul would teach him a lesson. "Its easier to be nice to a guy who wasn't hitting on you," he added, trying to explain that he could be nice if he wanted to be . . . around a certain type of person. He didn't want her to think he was some heartless jerk. This was all Inigo's fault! Why couldn't they get a female waitress . . . one who wasn't obsessed with her sand castles.

She fought back a smile on her face trying not to look pleased at this. "Oh." She looked down at her plate and spoke, "I don't think he was flirting with me. "Trust me, I'm a guy . . . I know when another guy is flirting, and that Sand Castle boy, was definitely flirting with you." The jerk. "If I knew he wasn't, I wouldn't have made him feel so unwelcome." He was trying to explain his reason for being so short tempered . . . but there was no reason really. He was always like this; the reason for his anger just varied. But now that he had imprinted, perhaps some of that anger would be let go. "Its not like I can blame him for flirting with you. I just don't take well to a guy making a move on a girl I'm out with." It was the first time its happened . . . well, the first time he's really cared when it happened.

Rachael was still blushing, when she looked slowly up at Paul. "Not everyone flirts with every girl, like you do." She said, "I still think he was just being nice." She wasn't mad at him anymore, she was smiling, and forcing her self to meet his eyes. She opened her mouth to speak again but the food was here. And this time, he came with a friend. . . . .
A friend the size of Texas. He was huge. Football player huge. The huge guy had Paul's food and sat it down slowly, seeming glaring at Paul like it was ready to fight.
Inigo set her plate down and a new napkin. When she noticed there was writing on it she looked down to read him asking if Paul was bothering her, and if she wanted him tossed out.
Her jaw dropped for a moment before she gave a very small short no with her head, and put her glass over the napkin hoping the water from the bottom would ruin the message. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul was about to argue that he did not flirt with every girl . . . but the food had come. He did not want her to think that he flirted with every girl, because she was the only girl he ever wanted to flirt with. Wow. Paul Moran was making a commitment . . . that was uncommon. Then again, this whole imprinting thing changed a man completely. When he saw the guy . . . wait, two guys now. What was this? Inigo was bringing back up? Aww, how sweet. . . Not! Paul glared at them, just as they were glaring at him and if he had kept his glare at them a moment longer, he would not have seen the scribbles on the napkin in front of Rachael.
"Whats on there?" He asked, clenching his fists, but trying to remain as calm as possible. He couldn't phase . . . he couldn't . . . he couldn't. He was using every ounce of strength in him to keep himself from trembling and thus phasing right here. Though, that would definitely scare off those guys. He was already mentally planning on when and where he was going to teach them a lesson.
