Paul was friggin' tall! Rachael looked up at him as she stood close to her and wondered if it was possible to blush everywhere! She giggled with nerves but didn't look down. Mainly because if she looked down, or even straight she would eye full of naked Paul chest. She was about to agree with a stronger wave his her back and she had to take a step forward to not lose her blance, causing her to touch everywhere aginst Paul.
When he had touched her face, she had assumed the heat was her blush, but now she felt he was just hot everywhere. "Paul! Your so hot!" She said in a slightly worried tone. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

She still was not answering his question and it was giving him more and more doubt that she was interested in him. Or maybe not . . . he would keep trying. When the wave forced her to move closer to him, he gave a smile. Her soft skin felt so nice against him, and he silently hoped that another wave would force her to do it again. His smile only grew when she commented on his body temperature. He of course knew what she had meant -- since all of the pack were extremely warm -- but he was going to take it in another way. "Why thank you," he said, translating it as she was referring to his physical appearance rather than external temperature.
He began to twirl a strand of her hair between his fingers, looking at it for a few moments before turning his gaze back to her while he spoke. He leaned in as if to kiss her, but when closer to the side of her and spoke in a low voice in her ear. "So you'll have dinner with me then?" It was half a question, and half a statement. "I am not going anywhere until you say yes," he added, partly serious . . . sort of.

"That is not what I meant!" She said even thought both comments were true. "Paul your skin is on fire. I think you have a fever! You need a doctor!" She said as she reached a hand up to put the back of her hand on his check as if to feel the temperature of him. She would have tried his forehead but he was just to tall. "I think you should get out of the water.
The tide moved out slightly then, and she grabbed Paul's arms so she would maintain balance and not step away from him. She noticed that Paul had no trouble keeping his balance and the waves didn't push him around. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul tried not to laugh. She was getting concerned for no reason, but truth be told . . . it felt nice for someone to be worried about him. Though it was completely unnecessary, it still made him feel more at ease. He looked at her once again, still noticing that she had not confirmed his question. "Don't worry Rachael, I'm fine." Paul loved the waves. It was forcing them to become closer and closer. "I think we should get out of the water for your sake, before the waves wash you away," he said smiling at her delicacy.
"But like I said, I'm not moving." He was still waiting for her to answer . . . he knew he didn't need a doctor, and he knew that he would never let her drift away at sea . . . he just wanted to hear her say yes. So he stood there, releasing the small strand of hair he was playing with from his grasp.

Rachael crossed her arms over her chest and looked down at the water for a moment. One one hand, it was PAUL asking her, and on the other is was -Paul- asking her. She wasn't sure she should say yes to guy who in was a small town 'carefree' guy who apparently worked two part time jobs so he could spend his days surfing, when she wasn't going to be here long enough to let anything happen with it. She had spend an entire day with him in school, and it had changed nothing about their relationship.
Oh the other hand, it was the relaxed carefree guy she had liked for years, and years. When she was leaving school to play Mom to her siblings and do her own work, house work, cook, and help with their homework, she had dreamed of being a Paul's arm and being as carefree has he made life look. Paul had had a temper, but when it came to do and responsibility, he didn't seem to have a care in the world.
She had been in town less then three days and already she had fallen into her pattern of cooking supper and cleaning house. Racahel then thought of something else. She was making a big deal out of this and it could be just a 'friends thing'.
"Sure, I could go out for some food. Who all is going?" She asked a mere moment after she looked down, then looked back up at his freakishly tall form and smiled. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He waited -- trying to be patient -- for her response. He did not speak in the silence, he just stood and waited . . . and waited . . . and when she finally spoke, he just smiled at her. She was expecting for more people to come? He would have to make it clear that he meant it to be the two of them . . . just the two of them. She made it sound so casual, and while he was trying to do the same, he always wanted her to realize it was a date. "Actually, it was just going to be you and me. How does that sound?" Again, he would ask another question to see her reaction. Would it be disappointment? Excitement? Frustration? Fear? He would soon find out.

Just the two of them? How did that sound? It sounded like every high school day dream she ever had was coming true in one blinding moment. Did absence make the heart grow fonder? Apparently it dose for Paul. Rachael wanted this more then anything, but thought back to there high school days. What would do? I don't think we have allot in common. She thought unsure. "I think dinner would be fun." She said anyway. Not sure what was going to happen tonight but ready to get out of her Dad's house. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Finally. Finally! She had confirmed their dinner plans. Paul was so very excited. He wanted to make it special for her, but he knew that he had no time. He wanted to go with her as soon as possible. He wanted to be somewhere a little more private so that he did not have to worry about the other members of his packing . . . like her brother . . . wandering around and watching him. "Great!" He said, his grin widening, if that was even possible. "Maybe in a couple of hours then? I can pick you up from your place." He was going to have to be discreet, since he did not want Jacob to know he had imprinted on his sister . . . not yet anyway, since it would inevitably reveal itself.

She had a date with Paul. "Sure," She said still blown away and confused as all. "Maybe about six? That will let me cook for Dad and Jake and still be ready to go out. Just causal clothes?" She asked to make sure, being Paul's idea of a date could be fast food, while her's was La Pittie Mort. Still, she didn't want to dress wrong and insult him. Over dressing was expecting thing and under dressing was just an insulting. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Dress as fancy or casually as you want. This dinner is for you . . . I want you to be comfortable." He was trying to further express the intimacy of this date. He took a step closer to her as the waves continued to splash against them. "I can't wait," he said in a soft voice, perhaps the softest voice Paul had ever used in his entire life. Then again, he had never felt this way for anyone before. It created a certain peace within him that he never thought possible. If this was imprinting, he was just sorry it had not happened sooner. While he knew he should probably go and start making preparations for tonight, planning where they were going to go and get cleaned up himself . . . he could not manage to tear himself away from her. He wondered how painful it would be for him to leave, to wait those hours until he saw her again. The thought of her leaving La Push had not even occured to him yet, it was something he would remain in denial about until it actually happened.

THAT did NOT help her. That left it wide open, and she wasn't ready for wide open. Now she would panic for a few hours over the limited clothes she had brought and wonder about her every move. Great. "Ok then. I will see you then?" She asked as she walked to move closer to shore. "I am going to go bug my brother into letting me try to surf on his board." She waved and started walking back to get a board. She noticed the food was about gone, when she had made it to land, WOW they ate allot!
Picking up Jacob's board she turned to talk back to the water. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He watched, regrettably, as she left. He could not take his eyes off of her. Now he understood the way Sam looked at Emily, and the way Jared looked at Kim. Now he understood the full magnitude of imprinting. "Be careful. You just proved how powerful the waves can be," he told her, referring back to when she had lost her balance because of them. He wanted to grab his surf board if only to be near her and make sure she was not in any danger . . . but perhaps she would find him too irritating if he constantly kept popping up everywhere. So instead, he walked back on to the sand and sat down, near where the food had once been . . . and just watched her.

Rachael wondered if Paul had forgotten she had grown up here. She walked until the water was to deep then climbed on the board and paddled out. She couldn't surf but she liked to sit on the board far from shore and ride a few waves while sitting down. Once she was far out, she sat up and looked out to St. James Island. She loved the site of it. Something that looked smaller the La Push. Which was rare.
She wanted to look at the beach but didn't dare. She wasn't going to look over and let Paul know she was dreaming or him. She would hang out for an hour then rush home, so not to look as eager as she felt. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul continued to watch Rachael. It was funny how things had turned out. He never in a million years would have expected to feel a quarter as much affection for her as he did right now. He couldn't be happier though. She was beautiful, intelligent, loving . . . there was not a single negative thing he could associate with her because right now, she was seemingly perfect. It had finally happened . . . Paul Moran had fallen in love.
--- Later That Day ---
Paul was extremely excited about this evening. Though it was nothing overly special, the fact that he would be spending alone time with Rachael was enough on its own. He did not care where they went or what they did, as long as he got to see her because he had missed her terribly for the couple of hours they were apart. It was an odd ache for him to miss someone so much, and so when he pulled up in front of her house, he could feel the excitement building up inside of him.
He got off of his motorcycle -- one he was very protective and proud of --- and went up to her door. He was dressed very casually; jeans, a t-shirt and his leather jacket which was his normal, every day attire. He did not have enough time to plan a formal date. There would be more opportunities for that. He was just looking forward to seeing her again. He rang the door bell, hoping that Jacob would not answer. That would be awkward indeed. If Rachael told her brother that she was going out with him, then Jake would know something was going on.

She had not told her brother who she was going out with. Just that she was going off with a friend for a quick supper. When Paul rang the door bell she walked to the door, wearing jeans with beading down the side, and a sweater, since the night had turned cool, and would get colder. She smiled up at him in an nevus way. "So." She said. She had spend an hour in the water and then when Jacob took the board back she had drove home to shower and change clothes 20 times to get ready for tonight. Picking out the shoes and the top about made sure she had no time to cook for Billy and Jake. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He smiled when he saw her. She looked stunning. How could he have noticed her before? How could he be so blind and not acknowledge such a person? "You look great," he complimented. He briefly glanced behind to see if Jacob was glaring at him in the background. If he was, Paul would be amused. If he was not, then Paul didn't care. All that mattered to him right now was the woman standing in front of him. "Ready to go?" He asked as he stepped aside so that she would have room to exit. "So, I didn't really have time to make reservations at a fancy place. There's a nice Italian restaurant a little ways away. Not exactly walking distance, so we'll take my bike to get there." Just as before on the beach, he could not take his eyes off of her and he was just talking about trivial things to fill the potential silence so that he would not look like an idiot.

So, I didn't really have time to make reservations at a fancy place.
She didn't mind, she has assumed as much,
There's a nice Italian restaurant a little ways away. Not exactly walking distance,
Italian was good, better then she had thought they would do tonight. She was excited at the setting. It was promising, and sounded even romantic.
so we'll take my bike to get there.
. . . . . . . Oh No. "No." She wasn't getting on a death trap. "I am not getting on a death trap with a guy who has never even said my name. There not safe Paul." She blushed and looked down while crossing her arms. She had not meant for the last part, about her name to slip out. "I have a car we can take." ((Icons not of my own making. What was wrong with his --- wait. Her name? What? Now he was confused. Was she mad that he didn't say her name? Why would that upset her? He would have asked but he would have just looked dumb, and he was trying to impress her. Should he just randomly say it? Or stick it at the end of every sentence he spoke? "Its not a death trap . . . Rachael." Was that better? Now would she ride his bike? "I've had it for a while," he added trying to explain that he was an experienced motorcyclist. He also did not want to argue with her tonight, so was debating just accepting going in her car. "See, take a look at it. Do you want to try sitting in it to get a feel for it?" He loved his motorcycle. It was better than any car. But again, he did not want to offend her or argue with her.

It was the first time he had said her name, and while she loved hearing it on his voice, she knew it didn't count. She had made him say it. He didn't seem to understand why it was import to her. "No, I don't want to sat on it, Paul. I's dangerous. It's La Push! It rains all the time, why would you even need a bike? We can take my safe, dry and environment friendly car." Paul did not want to spend the majority of their first date arguing. He would have to accept it . . . this time. He looked at his bike, and then to her. "Alright, lets take your car." It was not common for him to be this agreeable, and he knew he would not give up a chance to ride his cycle unless it was worth it. Spending time with her was most definitely worth it. "Wait . . . are you talking about, that car?" He asked, referring to the blue bug. He hoped she was going to take another one . . . any car but that one.

She smiled, "My car, yes." She pulled her keys out of her bag. "It a hybrid. Part gas, part electric so it gets amazing gas mileage and it's so cute." She held up her phone, "They even gave me a a phone cover to match." She told him with a smile loving how they all matched. The inside of the car had cloth seats, and daisy air freshener near the vents that peddles spun around when the vent was turned on. The daisy matched the stickers on the back window, that made a border along the top. The blue of the bug was not even a dark blue, it was bright sky blue. To top it off, there was a lay around the rear-a-view mirror the same color as the car. . . the car, that was only about 5' tall. "It's a Käfer." She said, which was German for the model, in America it was called a beetle or a bug. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul just stared at the car. Really? "I'm not going to fit in that. My legs won't even fit in that small thing." It was so . . . girly. Paul was not feminin, not in the least bit. If he went in this car, he was never going to live it down. Leah was never going to let him live it down. So far, the others did not even know he had imprinted. Going in this car was not how he wanted people to find out. "Maybe we should just walk." Walking would be less embarrassing. Or his bike. Paul really wanted to take his bike. At least it was a guy's vehicle. Not one that looked like a girl had thrown up on it.

"What happened to not exactly walking distance?" Rachael asked as she stood near the driver door, (having just assumed she would be the one to drive). She did notice he was taller then the bug but it had more leg room then he thought. The seat could be moved back and being the motor was in the back, you had more leg room up fount where you needed it. The only thing that wouldn't fit in this car was his ego. she just watched him waiting to see what he would decide to do. She didn't mind walking, but in these shoes? ((Icons not of my own making. Paul could handle the walk . . . but he did not want her to walk all the way. They were going to have to take the car. "Alright, but next time we take my bike," he said, dreading getting inside the car. He was already planning the next time they go out . . . he was going to make certain that things went well tonight so that she would accept another offer for a date with him, next time with less reluctance. "Can I drive?" He asked. Even though his was a woman's car, somehow, he felt it would be better if he was the one driving so he didn't look like one of those guys who didn't have a backbone . . . who were afraid of their girlfriends . . . who were whipped.

. . . Next time?! "Next time?" There was already a next time? A next time on a bike? "Paul, motorcycles scare me. I am not getting on anything that lets me feel the wind, and pavement. Also, if i sneeze in my car, nothing happens, if I sneeze on your bike, I get off balance and died."
When he asked about driving she looked at her keys (Which even her key chain had a daisy on it) and then slowly held them out. She understood the 'give an inch to take a mile' saying. Let him drive and never take the bike. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"I would never let that happen," he told her when she said she could fall off and die. "Trust me, the freedom you feel on a motorcycle is incredible. The wind in your face is a great feeling, believe me. Its something that you won`t regret once you experience it." At least he could drive . . . that was either a good thing or a bad thing. He took the keys and unlocked the car, getting into the driver's seat. He had to move the seat way back, and even though, he was not fully comfortable, which forced hi to fidget uncomfortably until he was in a position where he could actually drive.

Rachael who fit perfectly in either seat of the car, got in and waited while he tired to fit. Maybe next time they could borrow Jacob's rabbit. . . . .Next time!!!! She smiled brightly at his planning round two. WOW, Paul Moran and a next time with little Rachael Black. "I'm surprised you recognized me." She admitted, "Since it's been over three years." She was shocked he remembered her, but then again, she was Jacob's sister---Was Jacob making him do this? No. Jake didn't know how she felt, no one did. ((Icons not of my own making. When he was finally firmly seated, he started the car and began the drive to their destination. He could not pretend that he wasn't surprised he remembered her. He had never in a million years expected to imprint on her, of all people. "It has been a while . . . " He agreed, his mind drifting off to the time they had first met -- which he barley remembered and yet, he struggled to. "I knew you were Jake's sister, but I don't know. When I saw you at the beach, after so long . . . something happened." Something happened alright, something BIG had happened.
"It was like I was seeing you for the first time in a different light." Was he really talking like this? He felt like he sounded so smutty, but at the same time . . . felt he could go on and on about how much he cared for her. He let out a small chuckle. "That probably doesn't make much sense to you." It made sense to him of course. Hopefully she didn't think he was insane.

Rachael blushed, and smiled a small smile at him. "I sort of know what you mean." She admitted. She knew how you could see one person you have 'seen' forever and it be very different. "No one really changes but one day it's just . . . different." She had grown up in a small town, and had always known who 'Paul Moran' was. But one day, out of blue she had looked up and never looked down. She had been staring at him ever since. Paul was like a magnet to her, no matter how far away from La Push she got, she still thought of him. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

She knew what he meant, but what she didn't know what was that there was an explanation for it. Obviously he couldn't tell her . . . yet. "Exactly. I'm just sorry it took me more than three years." Again, he wished he had seen her sooner the way he did now . . . so much lost time. "Thanks for giving me a chance, after so many years." He had been confident, but he always would not have been surprised if she wanted nothing to do with him. He may not have remembered their school time together, but he remembered enough to know he had not exactly been the most considerate person. Even if it took a lifetime, he would make up for that.
