"Are you sure your Paul?" She teased as the conversation got to deep. "You don't sound like the Paul I went to school with." She was smiling as she said it but she meant it, "Maybe I am not the only one with a twin." She knew he was an only child, she knew allot about him but she didn't want him to think she was obsessed or creepy, so she left out any comments that would make her seem to knowing. "Maybe your Paul's twin brother named . . . . Peter." ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Paul laughed at the thought of a twin. He was going to call her Rebbecca, but he did remember how sour she was about that whole . . . name confusion, so he refrained from even joking about it. "Well that depends, which one do you like better?" He asked, grinning. It was easier to blame everything on another twin . . . it would certainly explain his sudden infatuation with her. "Do I really seem that different?" He asked. He kept smiling because he did not want her to worry about offending him with her response. He knew he was different, but he wanted to hear her first impressions of him . . . he was not going to apologize for the way he had been, but he wanted to be someone that she cared for now. How else would there be potential for a relationship?

She laughed softly at his joke and shrugged. "I didn't really know you in high school." She said as a way of not answering his question. High School Paul had walked pasted her and not seen her, called her up tight and Rebecca. Three Years Later 'Peter' Paul, looked at her like she was the only person on the beach when it was filled with pretty-er and fun-er girls. Yes, he was very different, and she was only counting this one part of him. He seemed calmer too. Not as into random trouble, yet he was bigger; taller and buffer like he could still lose his temper and knock you on your ass. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Fair enough." He was not the kind of guy who would have been so determined to go out with a single woman. He would not have ignored any compliments someone made to him. He would not have sat in the car he was sitting in right now. He felt like he was a different person. Would the others in the pack notice a difference in his behavior as well? "I didn't know you either, and I wish I had. But what matters is that I'm getting to know you now." And he loved it. "Speaking of getting to know someone, do you actually like Italian food?" He had chosen this place, but they could always go somewhere else if she was okay with it. He wanted to know for future reference as well.

"Yes," she replied with a chuckle, "I like Italian food, do you?" She loved food, it was one reason she would never be the size zero girl that everyone wanted to be now days. She wasn't fat, no were near, but she wasn't going to ever have her rib poking out like them white girl models. . . like Rebecca did sometimes. Becca had accidentally used the excuse 'I forgot to eat' a few times a month. Rachael had never used it. She never forgot. She looked down at Paul's big chest and doubted he ever forgot either. "I like any kind of food," he explained to her. He could eat and eat and eat, and the bottomless pit aka his stomach, would never get full. She had yet to truly see his substantial appetite. Maybe not tonight since he was paying for food and he could not afford to eat everything in the restaurant. "Whats your favorite kind of food?" Such small talk, and yet, he felt that every detail about her was important, no matter how minor or trivial it may seem.

"Oh, I don't know." She thought for a moment, "Mexican food." She said honestly, "I like the spices and flare to it." She had not got really into Mexican food until she went to college and they had bigger restaurants with better food then the diners La Push and Forks had to offer. Once you got out of small town America you could find so much culture and excitement. You could find freedom to move and enjoy life. She loved it, the city the hustle and bustle. "How about you? What do you like?" ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Mexican food. He would remember that for next time. "I like anything that's edible," he told her honestly. As long as it was food, he would eat it. "We could find a Mexican restaurant instead of Italian," he offered. Wait . . . why did he just volunteer to drive around for a longer period of time in her bug? Right, because she loved Mexican food. It was a small price to pay for her company and happiness. "Like I said, I didn't really have time to fully plan anything. He was not trying to confuse her with indecision or too many options, he just thought he would offer in case she was more in the mood for one as oppose to the other.

"It's whatever you want to do, Paul. I don't mind either. Which ever one your in the mood for." She said not wanting to be bossy. Maybe there were better places to eat then she remembered out here. "It's been a while since I have been this far west," She teased, "So you can pick whatever us good around here. I will, trust you." Besides, she was on a 'date' with Paul Moran. The food wasn't going to be the one thing she remembered from this night. Not even close. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"We'll go with with Mexican then. I think I read about a place when I was looking up the Italian one," he said, planning aloud. He did not know what they would do after dinner. Perhaps go for a walk on the beach, spend some alone time together . . . Paul was expecting this date to go very well. "So did you miss this place, or are you the more big city type of girl?" He asked smiling. He wanted to know things like where she was studying, how often she visited -- because he would need a point that he could count down to once she left.

"I love the city." She answered, "There is so much to do and excitement. Small towns are fun too." She added on so not in insult the town he loved. "Here you know everyone and everyone knows you. You can't hide from things, or anything. In the city, everything is unknown and you almost never see the same people twice." She tired to make them sound like they were both good places. She liked small towns, just not ones with the history she held in this one. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Oh if only she knew the secrets that dwelled in this small town. "That makes sense. I guess you find the charm in either place. And that's good. Makes it so that neither are torture." Paul had never been to a big city. He had never been outside Washington State, and he had no desire to. He was very comfortable here. Of course, she may change all that because now that he was committed to her -- more than she knew -- he was not sure what was going to happen. "Do you travel a lot, besides the place where you studied."

"Some, I love to travel but usually don't have the time or money because of school. I hope to one day be able to travel to some places and visit. See my sister more or something." Her sister lived in Hawaii. "I saw her at her wedding two years ago, and I miss her. I want to visit her again sometime, maybe before getting to settled in one place." She looked over at him, "Do you like to travel? Have you been anywhere fun?" ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Where is your sister living these days?" He knew that Rebbecca was married, he just didn't know where she was. "Not really. I haven't been outside the State or much further than La Push. Can't really afford it, or have any desire to go. I like to find adventure here," he said smiling so that she wouldn't think he was a dead beat who didn't like to go outside of his home. He just felt far too comfortable here to be bothered to go somewhere else. "That whole small town thing you were talking about, thats why I can't leave. I love it too much."

Uh-oh. Rachael thought as Paul admitted to loving La Push. She knew this wasn't going to end well, still, knowing the train was going to wreak she couldn't force her self to get off the ride. "Adventure in a small town?" She laughed not sure there was such a thing. "Do the waves really get that big out here?" She teased him, knowing he meant something else maybe but wanting to know more. To know everything. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"You have no idea," he said grinning at her. "There are so many things to do in La Push, you just have to be a little creative. And can't be afraid to live a bit on the dangerous side." Cliff diving, surfing . . . running around as a wolf . . . those were all things that he found great enjoyment in. "What do you do in La Push when you come back for visits?" He was trying to figure out what she considered to be fun and adventurous in a small town . . . unless she preferred to stay safe. Safe. He believed he had replaced that word with 'uptight' referring to her at some point, but now, that sounded too derogatory.

"I didn't come back for visits." She said, letting him take that as he wanted, "When I graduated La Push high a semester early, I went ahead to WSU, and have not been back since." Not even to walk across the stage, or visit her father, or for her brother's birthdays. "I got in town for the first time in three and half years just three days ago. So I don't know what I would have done." She felt boring again. In the city I worked as a waitress, and hung out with friends, movies, theater, trivia, game nights and enjoyed a books club for fun." He hadn't realized it had been that long . . . he was about to say that, but it may come off as if he never noticed her absence. Which technically he didn't. It just wasn't a good thing to say on a first date. "Sounds like you've been pretty busy over there. I don't think there are any book clubs here to keep you interested," he said smiling. "But I do remember Jake saying you graduated early. I'm glad you decided to come back for a visit after so long. Think you'll visit more often, or is it going to be another three and a half years until I see you again?"

"Oh, ummm." She liked him asking her plans. it made her feel special. Paul Moran wanted to know Rachael Black's plans! "I'm sort of not sure of my plans for the moment. I am done with school and am just visiting family before applying for jobs somewhere, some college maybe, or a high school that needs what I offer." Not many high school needed a full time teacher of just languages. "Do you have big plans for when your done . . . how did you put it?" She teased, "Being a teenager a bit longer." He really hoped she would find a job here so that she would not permanently be away from La Push . . . from him. "Best of luck with that. I'm sure you'll find something somewhere. Hopefully close to home so you don't have to be too far away from your family." And from him. That was all he could think about. He chuckled. "I think that sounds like a long term time job on its own . . . being a teenager I mean. It could go on for years and years." Describing that his priority was protecting La Push was not a good idea right now. He would have to wait to tell her that much. "I don't have any specific plans right now. We'll see what happens in the future." He did not exactly plan things that far ahead, and only added that he would wait and see so that he was somewhat serious about his future.

For a girl who wanted a 'sure thing' in her future, having her dream guy admit he wasn't planning on a grand one, was unsettling. She had known from the start that this wasn't meant to be. She wanted away from small town La Push. Out. She had been saving for years to get out and stay out. She had gotten out, and Paul held the power to suck her back in. Yet even knowing that, she wasn't willing to give her any of the attention he sent her way. "Maybe. I don't think most places around here need someone with my skills." She said politely. "Do you still live with your parents?" ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"You never know. I'm sure if you look, you'll find something." Even Paul was not oblivious to the fact that she preferred to stay out of La Push . . . that was what Jake had told him. And before, he didn't care. But now, it was as if his life was relying on her staying here. "Define 'live'?" He asked smiling. "I got a room there, sure, but I'm out most of the time. I usually hang around other people's places, like Sam's." Emily was a wonderful cook; the food was enough to make him practically live there.
"Makes me sound like a freeloader, huh?" He asked continuing to smile. "Most of us do that," he explained. It was a wolf thing; the pack made them close and so when they weren't in their wolf form patrolling -- those who had not imprinted -- were often together. Since Paul was closest to Sam and Jared, both of whom had imprinted, he had been spending a bit more time at home . . . but that was about to change.

It made it sound like he wasn't ready to grow up, and made her feel old and uptight for not seeing how people can live that way. It was happening again, and she could feel it. The old Rachael who took everything to seriously, and didn't learn to have real fun until she had gotten away. "Your still young, allot of younger kids still live at home. Once you get your own place however, and enjoy the freedom, you wont want to move home." She told him, trying to make her life sound fun and not just full of school and books. "You can do what you want, when you want with whoever you want. . . . how you want." Now she sounded like she was rambling. Great. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

He laughed at her response. He felt like a kid . . . then again, he acted like a kid. He would have to smarten up if he wanted her to be with him; he knew her maturity level was a lot higher. "That's probably true. I haven't exactly been looking for a place, but I know that when I do move out, it'll be for good." He listened to her and just smiled at the way she described his freedom. "It is pretty sweet, I can't deny that. Was that how you felt when you moved out? Was it as liberating as you thought?"

"Yes." She said softly, knowing he would never know how much. She loved the feeling of freedom, of not being the way to young stay at home mother. She knew explaining it would be to deep for a first date so she shrugged. "It's not something you can just explain, however, for everyone it's different. You shouldn't move out until your ready, however. I sure your Mother likes having you at home." She didn't mean to make him sound like a Mama's boy and blushed knowing that might be how he took it. Paul chuckled. "Like I said, I'm home so little that I doubt my mother remembers she has a son. I guess you're right though. There are some things I could take for granted. But being on your own, with a fresh start . . . that probably has its advantages." He knew about her mother, so he was just trying to be a bit empathetic to her. If he had been in her situation, there was a good chance he too would have moved away . . . but he was fortunate enough to not have to worry about that. "

"Yeah." She said and looked out the window. So much had NOT changed in this little bitty town. Rachael wondered f it ever would. She doubted it, places like this rejected change and fought it. They didn't want to grow taller or stronger. They wanted to be safe and hidden forever. . . . She made a mental note to escape home for the weekend. "I see nothing ever changes in La Push." She said kindly, making sure there was none of the pity she felt for this small town in her voice. It would never be allowed to grow, because the people would hold it back. There was so much world out there and most never left the beach to see it. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Nope," Paul said rather proudly. While Rachael saw that as a bad thing -- or a more negative thing -- , Paul liked it. Nothing had changed . . . besides the fact that there was now a pack of wolves protecting the land. "Makes the place more comfortable," he said, just to fill the silence . . . before he spurted out that he could phase into a wolf. He was already having trouble keeping it from her. He wanted her to know everything so that there would be no secrets, and so that she would not find out from someone other than him telling her.

Rachael looked away from the window and look at him when he said it was comfortable. She hadn't taken Paul for the type to like things to be the same. She had thought he was the adventure type. She gave him a hesitant smile and looked away not wanting to stare at him like some lock stuck teenager. Which she was, once upon a nightmare ago when he had just trailed after him, and watching him work in shop class half wishing he would do it shirtless. ((Icons not of my own making. If Paul did not have so much confidence in himself, he would have rewound the conversation in his mind and wondered if he had said anything wrong to elicit such a silent response . . . but he was not that worried. Whatever mistakes he made tonight, he would make up for them later because he knew that even if tonight went horribly -- which he doubted -- then he would never not want to see her again.
"Here we are," he said as he parked the car into the lot. They were at a small Mexican restaurant. It was the only one in a decent driving distance, and it didn't look too crowded which was a bonus, since he had not made reservations. He turned the car off, and was relieved to get out of it so that he could stretch his legs which now felt very stiff after being confined in that small space that was clearly not large enough for him. He figured that he should be a little more polite than usual tonight, and so went over to her side, and opened the door for her.
