Challenge Five: Happiest Moment Volterra, Italy two thousand years ago
Finally Having the Power I Crave
Aro sat in the throne room content happy. He had just taken the power he craved it was his and no one was going to take it away from him. He had planned the overthrow perfectly no one would ever go against him. He put the Romanians were they should be out of power and below him. He had his power he was on top and he would remain as long as he lived. And since he was a vampire and he never died that would be forever. Nothing could bring him down there was nothing that could ruin his mood right now. It took years of planning and preparing for this moment and it was all worth it.
Aro could remember when he had first run across the Romanians he was young just a few years into this life he had Marcus, Caius, and Didyme with him. He was curious about other vampires he had seen that the Romanians Stefan and Vladimir he had been fascinated with what they had. They claimed to have control of the vampire world being the oldest of their kind. Aro had been overly polite but he was plotting right from the second they revealed what power they had. It was the moment he had begun to plan to overtake them. And here he sat having done just that.
Aro had told his plans to his 'brothers' Caius and Marcus. Marcus really didn't care as long as he could keep Didyme with him. It wasn't hard to make Marcus do anything he would agree to almost anything as long as he could spend some time with Didyme. Her talents hadn't been very useful he had hoped for something greater than to make others happy, but there was nothing he could do. As long as she kept Marcus around and he helped in keeping the power he had that would be enough for him. Caius had been more than willing to destroy them but he had to remind him of patience they couldn't rush into this. It would take time and it had. Years of planning on how to gain this power that was now his.
Over the course of his planning he had run across his wife Sulpicia. He had simply seen her even as a human and wanted her. He had taken her from her life and changed her. She was his just as much as he was hers. But his love for power was greater and he would give her up. Though he would hate to have to give up his love. Athenodora, Sulpicia's cousin, was soon changed and became Caius' wife. They formed the coven of the Volturi a name that would soon be feared and known by all vampires.
Aro had began seeking vampires even a few humans who would have talents beyond the normal vampires like Marcus and himself. He had slowly begun to form the guard. The two most valuable guard members Alec and Jane were two he would have waited for a few more years before changing them, but was forced to change them sooner. The humans had thought them witches and thought it best to burn them. Aro had the entire village destroyed no humans survived they learned their lesson thinking of taking a power he wanted.
Ah, all of this was nice in it's own way but could never compare when he had defeated the Romanians! They were unstoppable destroying the vampires that dared opposed them. Aro had left the leaders Stefan and Vladimir alive though those were the only ones. They knew they were defeated and knew there was no chance they could take back their power. It was his power now! Aro sat on the wooden throne a smile on his face just thinking about what he was going to do next. He had to ensure he kept his power. He could most certainly add to his collection, his guard.

Marcus was going to get him self killed. Athenodora stood beside her husband, Caius, and watched with a frozen expression on her face as he ranted to Caius over the news he had discovered. Athenodora wasn't sure how he found out and nor did she care, she only cared about how this would effect her and Caius. Some how, Marcus has been told of something, and be believed it. Athenodora would not put it past Aro, but she had not seen it coming.
Aro had killed his own sister, in order to keep Marucs in the Volturi. Power over family.
Athenodora watched as Marucs' bored and lazy moves were now angry and violent. Strong and eager for death. She did not like were this could lead. He spoke of revenge and his anger and facts. of being betrayed and returning the favor. She knew they should bring this to an end, Aro would see this when he touched them, he was greedy for information and when he did he would be furious when he got it.
The Marucs spoke of his plan, the plan he already had in play. Athenodora's eyes widen at first in fear then . . . then as her spoke, it turned to something else. He already had Cheslisa on his side, and with her, the rest of the guard would follow. They would have no choice. he was giving Caius a chance to join him willingly. He spoke of how even now, Aro was gone to check on some rumor of an army far off, and how his wife was left alone, with only the guard to protect her. The guard who were now loyal to Marucs, and not to Aro. He would strike hard and fast, having someone witness Marucs killing Sulpicia, and then the Volturi banishing Aro, disowning him publicly. Then the witness would allow Aro to touch them, seeing everything. It would break Aro, turning him into how Marucs once was.
Athenodora doubted Aro would be quite as boreish as Marucs but the idea of being the only Volturi female of rank was there now, in her mind's eye. Growing! With the numbers down to three she would be one of THE members more known and coveted! They would envy her! Come to her for as their queen, and not just one of the Volturi members!
She would be the highest ranking female. Wife of the highest ranking male. This was her dream, this was everything to her!
She turned her body to face Caius as Marucs' words came to a stop, waiting for Caius' reply. Her eyes lifted to look at his face followed by her tilting her face up at him in that way she knew he liked. She said not a word as she looked down at her and lifted a hand to her cheek to cup it, as then speak to Marucs. 'Get it done.' He said, 'Quickly' and with that Marucs was off like lighting. Leaving Athenodora to stare off at him, with a smile on her face.
She was now Queen Of The World.
