Jasper had never thought that this was possible: the wolves and their kind, working collboratively. Yet they shared a common enemy, and a common friend. And that had been enough to set aside their differences and generations of animosity. It was for the greater good. They had just completed a training session, as they had done when the threat of the newborn army was a upon them. This was just to ensure that they had a strategy for if a battle did ensue, the Volturi would be formidable. The name alone was enough to stir fear in many vampires. They all needed to be sure to use their strengths and their enemy's weaknesses to their advantage. Jasper offered his own estensive military and combat expertise to create a strategic plan of attack.
With the wolves alongside them once more, their chances increased . . . but Jasper also knew casualties would be inevitable. And he feared who those casualties would be. What remained unknown to the others, was Alice's vision. Only she and Jasper knew the true extent of what was going to happen, and they were already in the midst of creating an alternate plan. They managed to conceal it from their family. It was for the best. Their departure would be abrupt and that time was fast approaching. He trusted Alice and so held hope that they would find what they sought, and reach the Volturi in time before anyone was killed.
As the others left, Jasper remained behind, deciding to hunt before he returned to their house. Alice had a great deal to do so she left with the others, and Jasper assured her he would join her very soon. He paused however when he caught a scent that was quite familiar, and not necessarily an unwelcome one. He turned toward the smell, not yet seeing her in the clearing. "Leah," he greeted, already knowing it was her before she revealed herself. He was in her company enough to be quite familiar with her scent, and was almost even growing somewhat used to it. Not to mention the familiar emotions he felt from her whenever she was near.

How did that pale bastard do that? She got knowing scents, she even understood how he was all knowing the world of vampire killing, or so she was told. What she didn't get was how he could say one friggin word and it was both filled with power and was not overpowering at the same time. Not comforting, but it said I'm not a threat but I could kill you if I wanted. Yeah right--ok maybe right but she'd never admit it. Stupid vampire.
Thought for a leech he wasn't as bad as them. She even had begun getting along with him when others weren't looking. If he smelled better maybe they could be friends, but the fact that he was a danger to humans and she was their protector hindered that way. Then again that was Sam's thinking, and she was in Jake's pack now.
Walking into the clearing she paused and leaned on the side of a tree. "If you wanted to pretend to be human, you should start with Who's there." She hinted, and while her voice held the forever tone of anger that came with being a wolf and . . . and well being her . . . it was less so right now. "Maybe even look around."

Jasper gave a slight smile when she spoke, giving tips as to how he should 'act more human'. "Forgive me," he said politely. His Southern charm had seemed to re-emerge when he had found Alice. "I had assumed we were past such trivialities." He was slightly teasing, without offending. He knew better than to provoke others -- especially Leah. But alas, she knew who he was, he knew who she was. And neither, were what could accurately be defined as normal beings. " But I will keep that in mind should I encounter an unfamiliar scent." To act human was a constant conscious effort . . . added to Jasper's list as number 2. Number one on his list was trying not to kill humans.
Leah's emotions were such an array, and ones very unique to her. Which of course made sense as she was sole female wolf of the pack, or well . . . any pack from what he was told. And while he would not invade her privacy, he wished he could find more happiness in her . . . that she could be happy, for her sake. Everyone deserved that, and Leah was certainly no exception. Yet from knowing what he did about her, sympathy was also something that she greatly abhorred, s he would not attempt to say anything of the sort. He only wished her the best . . . especially if this would be the last they saw each other for some time. "Is there something I can assist you with?" He inquired, wondering if she had a question about the training session, or even about the Volturi.

That right there was why this one annoyed her more then the others, because it was so hard to fight with someone who apologized for nothing! HE WAS STANDING THERE! WHY APOLOGIZE! That was unhuman! . . . CASE POINT!
Assist. Can I assist you? Welcome to the modern day. "I don't need your help." She muttered, knowing he'd hear. But she did need his help, and that was why she was here. Because she ---- UGH! This hurt to even think -- she trusted him to give her what she needed to make sure Seth went home to their mother. She needed to know what to face in this battle. "I'm just ya know . . . watching the area. Looking for one of the blood drinkers to come too close."
"Why you out here alone? Don't you know that's stupid. They could pick you off one by one." YEAH! See! She had battle smarts too! "Horror movie 101, dude."

Jasper knew often enough that Leah's words contradicted her emotions. He also knew that to vocalize this contradiction that he was aware of was invading her privacy. Which, he knew he was already doing as he had no control over it. Yet to vocalize it would abuse this ability of his. And he had no intention of doing that. He did not push when she spoke of not needing his help, yet could tell that she was feeling . . . concerned for the upcoming battle. If Alice and he did not stop her vision from becoming a reality . . . well, Jasper did not want to think on it. For he knew what Leah, and even her brother's, fate entailed. And that could not happen. "The same could be said for you," he said, a slight smile still on his lips as he once again teased, without intent to offend. She too was out here alone in the woods, and while he knew that neither of them were in danger at the moment . . . he wanted to ensure that she did not jeopardize her own safety and underestimate the Volturi.
"But you need not worry. We are keeping our guests well contained and will ensure they keep an adequate distance from your territory." While he knew that the wolves may not be too pleased with the growing number of vampires -- as they were calling them forward to be witnesses -- they also understood the reason. Yet Jasper just wanted to assure Leah that she need not be worried about that, though it was easier said than done. And even though she was referring to the Volturi . . . well, their arrival would be far more theatrical. "Did you find today's training session informative?" Jasper inquired. With only Edward to communicate the wolves thoughts, and with Jasper not having spoken to many of them privately -- apart from Leah -- he knew that now was the time to ask whether there were specific things her or her kind wanted to know. Certain techniques, any questions, more strategies and tips . . . this was one of Jasper's strengths, even though part of him wished it wasn't. If he could be helpful in any way, he would do all he could to exercise it.
