Demetri was back in his home country of Greece. He had very little memory of his human life, and yet, there was still an odd familiarity in this place, something that he could not easily ignore . . . nor was it something that granted him comfort in any way. His family was gone (though the generation may have continued with his sisters), but he had died long before he was given the opportunity to carry on his family name. And yet, the details of Demetri's human life failed him and he did not care. He could not deny the loneliness and boredom he often felt consumed with. He had no purpose, no wealth . . . he roamed from country to country, focusing on a specific human and allowing himself to play a game of cat and mouse before the temptation became too great and he just drained the human dry of blood. He had been doing this for well over a century and he needed something more. He needed to have purpose. And he needed something to hold his interest . . . he had no alternative.
With this feelings constantly in him, Demetri entered the well populated city of Athens. It was dark and the city was asleep, so that no humans would see his flaming red eyes which would no doubt instill fear in them. This caused Demetri even more boredom. Though, he was not stupid and did not want to be exposed . . . it was what made the game of tag he frequently played, so enjoyable. He was wearing clothing appropriate for the time, but his attire also expressed the fact that he was a so called foreigner in this country. It had been his home once . . . not anymore.
Demetri needed to find a new victim to go after; an international one. His gift would never disappoint him, as all he had been doing was perfecting it and ensuring that he was using it to his full potential. Sadly, that extended to tracking down humans and any vampires of interest (though there were not many at all). It was pathetic . . . such a great gift of his was going to such a waste. Yet, what choice did he have? It was a scent that distracted him from his thoughts, for it was not the smell of another human . . . but rather, another vampire in the near vicinity. Demetri could be an amateur at this point for his tracking skills were not necessary to find the vampire in the area . . . he just followed the smell until he came across him.

Aro rarely left Volterra there were times when he would gladly leave. After all if there was a chance he could find a vampire, a talent that would be of use to the Volturi that would always be most wonderful! Aro was always looking for ways to gain power. There were many ways but gaining new talents, new guards was Aro's favorite way. He loved collecting vaulable talents and those that were powerful. Aro simply would not accept anything less. One had to be useful, powerful, and loyal to be apart of the Volturi. But being loyal was quiet easy all they needed was Chelsea and she could make one feel loyal. But Aro preferred if such talents would simply want to join. If give the offer they should accept it is such a great honor to be chosen by the Volturi, by Aro to be apart of the Volturi. Perhaps Aro would find a talent or two during this little trip that would please Aro greatly.
However, today Aro was here to destroy a few vampires. As of recent humans were slowly truly believing vampires were not real. Nothing more than a legend. It had taken centuries to make them believe this lie but now it was happening. Aro would not risk any vampire to change this. To make the humans realize the truth. To know vampires did indeed exist. Aro was keeping a closer watch than he normally would making sure no vampire came close to revealing their existence. It was easy to understand if one was to reveal their existence they were to be destroyed. There were no exceptions and they did not give second chances. For what reason would their be? Another chance to break the rules? Aro would not allow such for then everyone would want a second chance. That would make them seem week, compassionate something the Volturi were not.
Athens was a larger city and most likely had a few vampires within it's walls. Aro had made certain Volterra was safe from vampires. Aro would allow no one, not even the guard or anyone within his coven, to hunt within it's walls. It was one way to keep Volterra and they had believed the lie with such ease. Aro knew making them truly believe vampires were not real would be just as easy. And so it was! A few guards were close by Aro as always. They could never allow anything to happen to their dear master. Caius and Marcus had remained in Volterra. Aro had wanted to see personally the vampires be destroyed and make certain all vampires understood what exactly would happen if they were to break their rules. Aro smiled as he saw a young vampire before him. He instantly wonder if he had some sort of talent how wonderful would that be? "Hello!" Aro's voice was enthusiastic as he often was with those he met. He was always looking for ways to gain more power and if he was to come across a worthy talent he would try to gain that talent. "I am Aro of the Volturi. It would be wonderful if you would tell me your name?" Aro was very curious about others and wanted to know all he could about this vampire before him. He oculd know with one touch of course but he wanted to see what he would tell him first.

Demetri took a moment to look at the vampire. It was easy to recognize or feel the presence this particular vampire had, and in an odd way, it made Demetri envious. He wanted other vampires to fear him, or at least respect him . . . but he was a nomad. He had nothing, and here was Aro, part of the Volturi -- a group that practically every vamprie has at least heard of, and feared to an extent. It consisted of the most authoritative vampires, and though Demetri did not know nearly as much as he wished, he knew that they were prestigious and most importantly of all, they had status. The mere title Aro had announced made Demetri wish he had something more to add to his name as a title, rather than just one simple, meaningless name.
Never the less, there was something about Aro that demanded respect, so Demetri would not raise his head at him. Instead, as if it was instinctive, he slightly lowered his head in a polite bow. "Demetri," he introduced, still hated the way his name sounded. Was there anything he could add? Demetri; Expert Tracker. No. That still did not have a good ring to it . . . he would have to endure the obvious inequality that existed between him and Aro. "It is an honor to make your acquaintance." Demetri's politeness tended to make itself obvious rather frequently. "May I ask what has brought you to this part of the world?" He asked, not feeling the risk of being too nosy, as he tried to be as least rude as possible in the way he asked.. He was rather curious . . .or perhaps it was merely an excuse to continue to talk to him, to find out more about the Volturi. Yes, that would be a more legitimate reason for questioning Aro's presence, though it would stem from curiousity and not suspicion in any way. After all, there was really only one reason as to why the Volturi would be anywhere.

Aro smiled as the vampire gave his name. Aro was still much interested in finding out if this vampire was to have a talent or not. Aro was also most pleased with his next statement of course it was an honor to meet him. The Volturi were to be well respected if you were to irritate them to much Aro was certain he could come up with some reason to destroy a vampire. After all they had a certain appearance to keep up with. Aro wanted to make certain everything the Volturi did was justified whether it was truth or not. "Ah, Demetri, it truly is wonderful to meet you!" This was true Aro was always interested in meeting new vampires and it would be even more wonderful if Demetri was to have sort of talent. Aro was always looking for ways to gain power gaining talents was an excellent way to do just that. Aro loved to add to his 'collection' of vampires. It was always so very interesting to come across a new talent even more a rare, vaulable talent that would present the Volturi with even more power.
"As you know we must enforce our rules." Every vampire should be aware of this. Aro made absolutely sure their rules were followed if not they were destroyed. It was as simple as that. "There have been a few vampires coming far to close to reveal our existence they must be destroyed." They did not give second chances for their truly was no reason to. If they allowed a vampire to go free after breaking their rules they may very well break this rule again. It would not be good for the Volturi. For who is to say others may not take advantage? The Volturi were to be feared and respected. Though only if one was to break the rules were they to be destroyed. If one was to annoy or irritate the Volturi they too may very well be destroyed. Aro loved to meet vampires for this reason to allow them to know who exactly they were to be certain they were following their rules.
It was of the utmost importance now more than ever that their rules be followed. They could not allow anyone to break their rules. The humans were finally believing that vampires were nothing more than a myth as well as a various of other small items. Humans would believe anything they were told. When Aro had made certain humans believed that Volterra was free of vampires they had believed the lies with such ease simply adding a few items they would think would harm them. Of course it was all nonsense but at least the humans had believed them. As they were now. It was most wonderful. "Demetri, my friend, I would so love to know more about you. Perhaps you would not mind?" Aro wanted to know all he could about those he met and often he would consider them 'friends' rather they really were or not.

Aro would make sure no humans knew of their existence it would not be tolerated. They were so very close to gaining this goal. For years Aro had been working to make sure this would happen. Centuries even the Romanians had allowed humans to know of them openly boasting about their existence. This was something over time Aro had worked to fix he did not want any humans to know about immortals. It would be so very convenient if they could prevent this. It would make everything so much easier. Of course it seemed there was always a vampire or two that simply had to be destroyed. There was very little that could prevent that and perhaps it would always be so. There would probably be a vampire curious as to just how far they could go before the Volturi interfered. Of course they would quickly be put to a stop. Any that broke their rules were to be destroyed. They never gave second chances. The very reason Aro was here to make sure vampires were following the rules he had set long ago. It was such a waste to lose so many because they could not simply follow their rules. They were extremely foolish if they chose not to.
Aro smile smiled at Demetri’s reply on the Volturi. ”We must make sure our existence is kept a secret. It makes everything so much easier. And we certainly will not allow our rules to be broken. They are expected to be followed there are no exceptions.” This was very true. Aro would never willingly allow a vampire to not be destroyed if they broke their rules. Unless perhaps they had some sort of talent. Something of great interest to Aro. He was always looking for ways to gain power. Talents were a lovely way to do just that. It pleased Aro greatly when he was able to acquire talents mores so rare and valuable ones those that would be of great use to the Volturi. Aro was always looking for ways to gain more power to make sure the Volturi remained in power. There was nothing Aro would not give up to keep and gain power. Aro wondered briefly if Demetri had a talent if it would be of use to the Volturi. How wonderful that would be! Aro would simply love to gain a new talent within the guard. It was always a delight to come across a new vampire and one with a talent just added to that!
Aro was delighted to know Demetri was willing to tell him anything. Of course the easier way would be to simply read his thoughts. Aro wonder just how much about the Volturi this young vampire knew. ”Tell me, Demetri, I am curious how much about us do you know?” Aro wonder if he knew of his talent. Aro would certainly want to read his thoughts. It was something he always enjoyed being able to know everything about someone by one simple touch. That’s all it would take for Aro to know all he wanted to know. To know if Demetri did have a talent. Aro could imagine how many uses one single talent could bring to the Volturi. It was always delightful to gain talents. Even if young Demetri did not have a talent it was still a most wonderful pleasure to meet Demetri. He seemed to highly respect the Volturi something every vampire should. It pleased Aro to see this. He wonder if he was to have a talent if he would be willing to join. Even if not he could easily use Chelsea to persuade him to join. It would not take to much to make him want to join. From how highly he regarded the Volturi perhaps that would not be needed.
