As with most vampires, to human eyes Renata has a flawless appearance. Her hair is a deep shade of brown that nearly seems black, that fall straight to her mid back. A set of straight bangs cover her forehead as well. Her face is well sculpted, and is the same pale white as the rest of her. Her complexion is unnaturally flawless, not a sign of unevenness or acne. Her eyes are a deep red, though show no virtual signs of blood lust unlike the rest of her coven. She has a rather gentle appearance about her. She has the body of a young woman, and has a thin but long build.

Something that anyone can tell is how terribly timid Renata is. She is a naturally nervous person, and overprotective at that. She does not have a desire to fight, and is surprisingly peaceful despite her dark mind. She is a pessimistic person as well as this, and always seems to see the darker points instead of looking on the bright side. This is something that she has always had trouble with and has been working hard to improve on this subject. She does not want to be such a downer as some may put it, and finds this as her biggest flaw.
With recognizing these flaws that she has, Renata tends to beat down on herself. Only few people know about this, as she will often lie about it and sound as if she thinks that she is the most perfect person. She is a good liar, and if she had not most likely no one would believe her. Some others do not believe her regardless, or just know better. She is an intelligent girl, but often slightly tedious as well and is not the most pleasant company to keep. She has a high knowledge in many subjects, the history of dance being her favorite, but is not one to speak of her knowledge. She speaks to few people, but if she does it is possible that she might have a lot to say.
That being said, if you can catch Renata in one of her better moods and willing to open up you would learn that she is rather down to earth. That does not mean she is loud, though, as she is still rather soft spoken. She tends to not get embarrassed unless under pray. She rather bring others up to happy moods at her own cost, then have others sad while she's just fine. She just doesn't feel right and often feels guilty for it even if she has not done anything to cause it.

Renata was born to a relatively average sized family for the year, in Northern Ireland near present day Londonderry. She was the third oldest in the family, but the youngest girl in it. This gave her a protective nature over her younger brothers, but at the same time because of this no one expected anything extraordinary for her. They just expected her to do what most girls of her class and age, marry the highest man that she could be set up with and become a house-cleaning, cliché mother.
This being said, Ren grew up mainly watching her two older sister be courted in admiration. She thought highly of her sisters, much more highly than she did for herself. That soon left her being the oldest child in the house hold, as her sisters had both married at fifteen years of age. She was left to assist her mother with common house hold chores and taking care of her little brothers, a task that was certainly not tedious for her. She found that it helped her stay youthful as she grew older, and did not get courted quite so quickly. Whether that was the cause of it, she was unsure.
At the age of twenty-one, Renata's father found a man that he thought would be perfect for her. She did indeed like the man, yes, but could not see him as one that she would be a wife to. He seemed more the type of man that she would be friends with, not the man that she would be his spouse; nevertheless, she did not tell her father this. She wanted to please her family and was going to let him court her if he chose to do so, despite her secret distaste at the thought of it.
The thing that Renata was appreciative for with this man was that he moved slowly, and they were officially courted not long after she turned twenty-three. They had been returning home from an extravagant ball, him escorting her home. They were attacked by a nomad vampire, though the majority of this has blurred in her mind. The vampire killed him first, but took a look at her and merely bit her before leaving. She burned in agony for three days straight, and woke up on the outskirts of town.
It did not take long for Ren to realize what she was. A denial phase never came to her, and she accepted it rather quickly for someone who had lost all happiness and who she had loved. But after having hunted, it was obvious to her that she could not help what she was. This is what turned the child like part of her persona into a pessimistic side, that was the main mental thing that changed for her. Loosing her inner child, only to be replaced with darker expectations of the world surrounding her.
Renata had not been a vampire long before she came across the Volturi. Her first reaction was that she was absolutely terrified of them. It quickly changed. Soon enough she had joined the guard, and presented as Aro's personal guard. This turned her overprotective of him as she been with her human family as a human. Her shield has expanded over time, though she still does stays extremely close to him, just in case.
