Afton has the usual chalky white skin. He has jet black hair with blonde highlights that reach down to his jaw line. He has the crimson eyes that all carnivorous vampires have. Afton is very muscularly. He wears the traditional dark colored clothes. He wears long black slacks, a black long sleeve shirt and what appears to be an old style pirate captain’s jacket. He also has the Volturi necklace around his neck.

Afton is one of the more easygoing of the Guard. He tends to be calmer than most of his coven mates in tense situations. When in a fight, he focuses more on calculating his opponent than rushing them. He is the more aggressive fight of the others as well. He takes pride in being one of the best physical fighters.
Afton can be very talkative at times but the others have gotten use to that fact. He can also be over confident too. Most say that once you get to now him he can be a pretty friendly guy.

Afton was born sometime in the mid 15th century in Rome, Italy. He grew up like any other Italian boy did in those days. He learned the trade of his father. His father was a blacksmith and so from the time he could understand the world, blacksmithing interested him. At the age of 13 he worked for his father as an apprentice of sorts to take over the shop one day. It was the one thing he loved to do more than anything. At 18, his father was executed under the suspicion of treason against the pope.
His mother was distraught and acted desperately. She took her own life by poisoning herself. She died in Afton’s arms just minutes later. He left his father’s shop in the hands of his very best of friends and moved to Venice, Italy. He started his own blacksmithing shop and later knew he made a good choice. Business was booming there. He worked there for the next 4 years and even started a family. After 6 years of work there, he took his things and his family and moved to Volterra where he worked for the Royal family at the time.
Shortly after they moved to Volterra, another tragedy hit him square in the face. In the middle of the night, his wife and son were killed by robbers. His grief was too much for him to bear so he attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself. Well, Afton was always a terrible shot and stabbed himself in the stomach. The knife didn’t go vary far so it didn’t do any massive damage but he did bleed quite a bit.
The next day, Afton had an unexpected visiter. He went to open the door and there before him stood a man and a woman. The woman was almost rediculously beautiful and the man was as good looking as he could think of. After introducing themselfs(He found out that theirs names were Elezar and Chelsea) they told him that he needed to come with them to the castle. Well, not wanting to cause trouble (because he wasn't in any shape for it) he followed them. After meeting with the rest of the "family", they(the Volturi) discuss weather or not Afton should become one of them. After Elezar tells them of his potential ability, they agree and Aro(the leader) orders Chelsea to take him somewhere safe and turn him. The next few days are a blurr of pain but he remembers walking into the same room they brought him to and they greeted him with open arms and explained everything to him. From then on, Afton became one of the Volturi Guard.
