- - - - - - - - - - Breathing in a fresh breath of moss filled air, Deline's crimson eyes looked around her. Her fiery red-orange hair lay in a mess upon her head, hardly above her shoulders. Her bangs fell to the side of her pale face, that had sharpened dramatically with vampirism. She was a beautiful woman now, but at the same time extremely frightening with her crimson eyes that screamed danger and death. It was a combination that worked, especially for seducing men into being her meals.
Wandering silently in an unfamilar forest, Deline's bare feet brushed against the grass. The wind blew at her, causing her hair to blow back. Two scents came across her sensitive nose, aside from the animals and plants that she had already been able to smell. They seemed to be exact opposites, though, which surprised her. Their scents were extremely different from each other, one sweet and sour. It was like opposites had just happened to attract, but at the wrong time.
One scent that came across Deline was probably the most disgusting, in-appetizing scents she had smelled since she had been a vampire. It resembled the smell of wet dog strongly, and it sucked on her part that only she could smell him and not the other way around. Though, the other scent was one that was just the right blend of sweetness. It smelled faintly like a mix of strawberries and chocolate to human noses, a very delightful scent. A smile pulled at her lips as she waited silently in the shadows to attack.

Embry's pain and heart ache had not once taken a leave since the day it broke to pieces at the beach almost a month ago. He had started to take up patrols again, Sam had given him a few weeks to take time off when he explained the situation, but he couldn't stay away from what he had to do forever. Though, his heart still wouldn't heal. What made things worse was that Charlotte had called him, many times, since then. Embry felt horrible everytime he ignored her calls, but he didn't think he could go through it.
Today was horrible. Charlotte called again, and this time, she demanded she speak to Embry. He couldn't say no, it hurt more to go against her wishes, no matter how much it hurt the other way around. She wanted to meet him, more like she ordered him to meet her. He wanted to see her, badly, but he also did not want to, afraid of it hurting him more. But she was not taking no for an answer, which was why Embry slumped to their meeting point.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Charlotte was upset, to say the least. She was hurt. She hadn't seen Embry in over a month, and she called him practically every time that she wasn't working on homework. She felt like she could be being to clingy or something, but she had finally gotten him to go on a hike with her. That did uplift her spirits, but she was still scared what to see when she saw him. She slowly approached where they had agreed on meeting, and was glad to see he was already there.
"Hi Embry..." Char said softly, feeling lost for words which was rare thing for her. She was so confused! What had she done to make him so mad at him?! As far as she knew, nothing. Had he found a picture of her on the internet or worse, a video that her friends had recorded on YouTube?! If that was the reason, she was going to kill her friends. She leaned against a tree, as if trying to hide herself in the shadows. It was a nice day as far as the Olympic Peninsula went.
"I'm just going to be straightforward with this. Why have you been ignoring me for the last month?" Charlotte said in a demanding tone, as if threatening him not to answer her. The hurt was clear in her dark brown eyes, and she knew that she had fallen too hard for this guy. It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, as she hadn't known him all too long. But nonetheless, she was hurt and confused with why he had been ignoring her.

Embry stood there, waiting only for a short moment before Charlotte showed up. His eyes were fixed on the ground and he could not bring himself to look away from it, no matter how much he wanted to see her beautiful face deep in his broken heart's remains. Perhaps if he did, what was left would shatter and fade away along with what was already gone. Oh! How her voice was perfect! Even in this bitter tone it sounded like the softest silk... It cut through the ruins inside his chest more. He did not return the greeting, saying her name was practically impossible without a whole wild wave of emotions flowing through him. Embry just kept quiet, his eyes staring at the ground, hands in his jean pockets.
Well, she was pretty darn strait forward about it, alright. There was no denying that, for sure. But what was he supposed to say? 'I saw you with your husband and daughter at beach a few weeks ago, and I can't function anymore because I'm hopelessly in love with you but I can't have you.' That would be stupid, even just thinking it felt stupid. Emb knew he couldn't stand there, looking down, for too long, Charlotte was bound to get even angrier at him than she already was. He had to think of something, and fast. "...I-" His voice was raspy and ragged, his lack of sleep and sadness tore at it. He opened his mouth to speak again, but not a sound was uttered. He tried again. "-I..." Arg! He just had to spit it out, no matter how stupid it sounded, but not all of it.
Emb couldn't. Sadly enough, he did not have the guts to do it.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hearing Embry stuttering was only making Charlotte more and more upset. What had she done that was truly so bad he didn't have the guts to tell her? If he didn't have the nerve to tell her to her face what was wrong with her, he could at least do it over the phone! It could have been easier for him that way and he wouldn't have had to see her hurt face. She felt like she was being too demanding and a little bit desperate for him to tell her, but hardly even thought about that.
Slowly, Char approached him. She put her hand under his chin and lifted it up to force him to look into her eyes. She knew that probably only made it harder for him to look into her pain stricken eyes and face, but honestly could care less. If he wasn't going to tell her what was wrong with her, she was at least making him see the mess he had caused with her. Her grades had dropped down to Cs instead of the B+s and As, she'd been so torn and hadn't paid attention in class.
"Why?!" Charlotte's voice was much more demanding this time, and she could care less now if he thought she was desperate to be with him. The truth was that she was a little desperate to be with him. "Why would you just ignore me for no reason, Embry? If you're not enough of a man to tell me to my face what my problem is, it's your fault for at least not doing it over the phone?" Her more fiesty side was starting to show as she got frustrated.

No. Please don't come over here. The plea only ran through his thoughts as he heard Charlotte walk over to him. It was hard enough being so close to her, but now she was only getting closer. But, at the same time, he wanted her more than anything in the world. He wanted to hold her in his arms, burry his face in her beautiful blond hair and stay that way until all his problems disappeared. But she was his problem.
Her petite, cool hand raised his chin up, forcing him to look at her. Embry winced at the pain that he saw etched on her gorgeous face. It hurt him so much. But he was already in so much pain over her. "Why? I should ask you the same question." If it had been anyone else, Em would have been fuming, but this was Charlotte. "Why, Charlotte? Why?" His chocolate brown eyes screamed with pain and sadness. "Why do you do this to me?" he paused.
"Everytime we saw each other, and were together, you actually acted like you liked, or even loved me. But I know about him, your husband, and your daughter. I can't take you from them, no matter how much I want you to be mine. But it isn't fare that you kept doing this to me when all I want is for you to he happy." There. He said it. Now what? Embry sighed, taking Charlotte's hand from under his chin and put it back by her side.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Grr! This was getting just more and more confusing for Charlotte, wondering what she had ever done to him. She was innocent...right? At least, that was what she thought. She didn't think she'd done anything wrong. She didn't have a criminal record, she didn't do drugs or alcohol, and it's not like she had dropped out of college. Yet, at least. She might end up failing it if she got any more upset and confused with all of her surroundings, and end up back in Texas at community college.
"Why? I should ask you the same question. Why, Charlotte? Why? Why did you do this to me? Everytime we saw each other, and were together, you actually acted like you liked, or even loved me. But I know about him, your husband, and your daughter. I can't take you from them, no matter how much I want you to be mine. But it isn't fare that you kept doing this to me when all I want is for you to he happy."
What the Hell was he talking about? Charlotte froze, not even able to move any more. She wasn't married, she was still a virgin for crying out loud! And she hadn't been acting, because she actually did like him. But she had no husband! No daughter! No fiancee! No unborn child. None of them she had, which was what was getting her fuming. He hadn't even thought to maybe ask her about it?! Her jaw clencing rigid, she started to speak once again.
"What are you talking about! I'm not married, for Heaven's sake I've only had two boyfriends before. I don't have a daughter, I'm only nineteen! Did you honestly not even consider asking me? And did you honestly think that I would go get knocked up at sixteen or something and have a kid?!" As Char spoke, she started to angry. It was like she was a bomb just waiting to explode, and she could be pretty dangerous to herself if she got mad enough.

Charlotte yelled back at him, which... he wasn't so sure if that was what he expected from her as a reaction. Perhaps he did expect her to yell... As her words sunk in, one by one, his eyes widened. When she finished, he felt angry, furious, with himself. He also had some much to ask her, mainly about that day she was at the beach. He also wanted to hold her, hold her in his arms and never let her go; make up for the time they spent appart. But Emb was so mad with himself.
He stepped back a little as his hands shook, he ran them through his hair, gripping it as he tried to calm himself. No luck. He couldn't get this mad, not now, not with Charlotte right there. He didn't want Charlotte to be like Emily. "ARG!" He breathed. How could he have been so stupid!? Emb walked to the nearest tree and punched it, just out of subconsious reaction. The tree almost fell over. Damn. Too bad. His logic was backwards right now... or just very cloudy. All he knew was that Charlotte wasn't married, had no child and that he could not hurt her.

- - - - - - - - - - The redhead could feel the venom pooling in her mouth as Deline continued to breathe in the female's delicious scent. She could feel the sadistic smile on her lips as she licked them in anticipation. She could already imagine the taste of the blood as she sank her teeth into the girl's fairly tan neck, and killed her quickly. The male shouldn't mind, it seemed like they were fighting anyway. She'd probably just snap his neck, as his blood was certainly unappetizing.
Stopping her airway, silently Deline made her way out of the shadows. It was not in the shadows, but the blonde girl would be able to see her even from behind the tall male. The boy was fairly cute for a human, Indian boy. She honestly could care less if her thoughts were racist, as she had no feelings of sympathy for her kills anymore. She felt bad for the people who lost loved ones, yes, but not for the ones actually killed. Some might actually appreciate it with how screwed up the world was.
Mouthing a greeting towards the blonde that seemed to have a slight Texan accent, she almost felt bad. Almost. Deline was from Texas, too, but she could care less. She wanted this girls blood fairly badly, seeing as she hadn't hunted in nearly two weeks. Her eyes were a near black shade, with brighter flecks of crimson. She was practically the perfect imagine of a vampire if she just died her hair black.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What. The. Heck?! Charlotte's brown eyes widened as he hit the tree, and it nearly fell over. How did he...? She knew some pretty strong guys, but even they couldn't nearly knock down a tree like this. "What....?" The blonde couldn't even finish her sentence she was so confused. Did he like her that much? Had she led him on a little too much and a little too fast? She hadn't thought so, but she guessed that her judgement might had been a little off.
Charlotte was about to finish her sentence when she saw a blur of white and red move in the bushes. Her eyes flashed over as she saw someone step out of the shadows, who was a pale as a ghost with near black eyes that had red in them! She went completely rigid, and she could feel her pulse quicken in fear. Little did she know that probably wasn't the best thing to do around a thirsty vampire. She could feel her breath catch, and it took a moment before she could breath agani.
"Ah," Was all that Charlotte managed to get out, her real accent slipping through in what was supposed to be 'I'. She could feel a scream building up in her throat, but couldn't release it. She quavered in fear, and stumbled slightly taking a step back. Her hand struck out infront of her, her pointer finger pointing at the odd girl in front of her. There was something about her that was off, but she couldn't say it.

The wind carried a acidy scent as it lightly brushed through the forest. The smell of vampire. Embry's nose crinkled and he only felt angrier. But he could not phase infront of Charlotte, not now. He absolutely had to calm himself down. Stupid vampire, getting him all worked up. What he did not register apon at the moment was that the vampire was close, very close, and on La Push soil. It did not take long before he did realize this. Emb looked over at the firey red headed vampire as she came into the clearing. His nostrils flared. But was he noticed after was that the vampire was after Charlotte's blood. This was enough to send Embry over the edge.
As Charlotte cried out shortly, Em ran towards the vampire, jumping into the air as he phased. The ripping sound of his pants being torn to pieces was well noticable in the dead silent air. He landed back onto his enormous wolf paws, standing defensively infront of Charlotte. A vicious snarl spurted out of his clenched teeth. This vampire was not going to law a finger on his Charlotte. Not today, nit tomorrow, not ever.

- - - - - - - - - - A small smirk spread across her pale but perfect face. "I hope you don't mind me interrupting, but it appears you have bad timing." Deline didn't care that they would, well at least should mind. She was cruel. And the redhead knew that she was much too cruel to her prey. She did not care what others thought about her, just what she thought. It was only her opinion that mattered to her. Nothing else ever did and nothing else probably ever would. Change always wasn't good.
When the Indian boy (again she didn't care if she was racist) change into a huge, wolf-like creature Deline raised an eye brow. He seemed protective over the blonde. A sadistic laugh escaped from her as she crouched in a low fighting stance. The size of the wolf didn't intimidate her, as she was small compared to most. "Protective much? What's gonna happen to blondie when wolf-boy decides to get killed?" This time she let out a low growl, before trying to lunge past the wolf and at the girl.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Charlotte quivered in fear. She wasn't one of those girls who never got scared, but she was no wimp either. This situation would be terrifying to any girl, and she could practically feel the clouds darkening. Her teeth bit down on her lip now, and she wrapped her arms around herself. She prayed mentally for her own and Embry's sake. She thought of the both of them as to young and innocent to die. She couldn't say necessarily the same thing for him because she didn't know, but she hadn't broken a law! Honestly.
What happened next caused Charlotte to give a short but high scream. A wolf took place of Embry is what she wanted to think, but her eyes saw him turn into the wolf. That didn't seem possible! He was just a regular guy, or that's at least what she thought. But a wolf?! THat was just too improbable. She never read anything like it, and she was pretty sure that it went against all laws of nature. She shrunk back against the tree, her mouth hanging open and her dark eyes filled with pure terror.
Char wasn't sure what was more terrifying, the ferocious growl that Embry had let out of the fact that that woman had just lunged for her. Possibly the woman, because once she did it was too fast for her to comprehend. Instinctively she slid down to the ground, curling her knees up to her chest. She didn't look away, though, why she was not sure. She wanted to look away, but couldn't let herself. Her lips pressed in a thin line, and she held onto herself tightly to try to keep herself from shaking. Needless to say, she was scared.

As the red headed vampire threatened them, threatened to kill him, Embry let out a huff. The idea was rediculous to him. When she went for Charlotte, Emb got in her way and hit her back hard. He snarled and lunged for the firey headed vampire. He was not going to let her get close to Charlotte.

- - - - - - - - - - At the impact of the wolf, Deline flew back and hit a tree. It snapped with a thickening crack at the force of the impact, toppling over. Which, naturally, only angered the red head more and let out her fiery temper. Hissing at him, she flared her nostrils and quickly crouched back down. She did not lunge at him quite yet, she was waiting. Her eyes looked over the girl, and seeing her fear caused a sadistic smile to spread across her face. Fear was something that she enjoyed.
Glad for the girl's fear, Deline went back into her offensive mode. This time jumping up in the tree, and over to the one that the blonde girl was sitting up against. She smirked at the wolf/boy/thing cruelly. She was so close to her prey, and so eager for a yummy little snack. The girl smelled quite wonderful.

Charlotte let out a whimper of fear, honestly scared half way to death. Her heart was racing at a speed that probably wasn't healthy, and she was shaking a little bit. She was also scared for Embry, fighting whatever this girl was. But the thing that was bothering her is that whatever he was, it clearly wasn't human. Along with that frightening redhead, who was trying to kill them both. She had gotten herself tangled into quite a mess, a mess that she probably wouldn't be able to find her way out of.
It seemed like the woman just disappeared in thin air! Char's dark brown eyes widened as she looked around the ground, clearly puzzled by the sudden disappearance. She then heard the rustling of the leaves above her, and her heart skipped a beat. The woman, girl, thing was in the tree above her! She was too frozen in fear to even think to get out of there. She was so close to her....and it was not exactly a calming thought to think that she could so easily drop out of that tree down onto her. Not comforting at all.

When the red headed vampire flew back into a tree, Emb was far from surprised to see her get back up and try her luck again. He was not going to let her lay so much as a finger on his Charlotte. Hearing Charlotte whimper made him want to turn around and hug her closely -- in human form, most likely -- but he could not be tempted to turn around to do so much as peek at her, he needed to get rid of this vampire. The vampire took a more aerial attack, jumping off a tree in order to pass over him and get to her target. Not on Em's watch.
The large grey wolf with darker black spot between it's sholders jumped up, quickly catching the vampire in his jaws. He flung her down and quickly put a paw on her in a way where she could not bite him. He growled furiously, his muzzle curling back over his teeth. He did not want to distroy a vampire in front of Charlotte, especially not today, but if that was his only choise, then he would do it.

- - - - - - - - - - No, this was not freaking happening. Deline felt the teeth, along with a sharp stab of pain, enclose around her waist as she was flung on the ground. She hit it with a thud, despite how light weight she might be. She struggled under the paw, letting out a gasp as it blocked her air way. Air was not necessary now that she was a vampire, but not breathing could be rather uncomfortable after a while. Air was more a strong, strong want more than anything these days.
Swinging up her legs, Deline used the small amount of leverage that it gave her to shove up and back on the stupid wolf thing. She didn't glance to see what happened or how far it flew back, before moving quickly - both for human and vampire - over to the girl. A sadistic smile played on her lips, amused with the whole situation. It was quite the interesting hunt, if she did say so herself.

No. Embry was not going to let this leech get his Charlotte. He'd rather die. When the redheaded vampire went for Charlotte again, Embry was swift to grab hold of her once more, his claws and teeth holding her as he slammed her to the ground again. He growled furiously. I have no other choise. He thought to himself.
The large grey wolf with black between it's shoulders tore deep into the vampire with his claws, and ripped one of her arms right off. With a flick of his large head, he threw the limb far into the forest. He did not want to distroy her entirely, not infront of Char.

- - - - - - - - - - A searing pain shot through her arm as Deline heard a terrible shredding noise. The next thing she knew her arm was gone, completely torn out of the socket. A shrill scream of pain seemed to echo in the wounds, with all of it's loudness. It hurt her own ears, but the fact that her arm had just been torn off was not exactly pain free. "Bitch," she growled at the mutt. She didn't care if it was a guy or not, it was a dog. And she would one day her revenge on it, and she would certainly not forget it.
The redhead slid under his grip, sprinting off in the direction of where her arm had been chucked. Deline was smart enough to not go back at the current moment. Or it might have just been because she had no idea how to fight, she was untrained. She grabbed her arm, wincing mentally, before running off full speed ahead back south. She did not like being away from Texas, and had learned her lesson about dealing with werewolves in front of girls. It was not the best thing to do, that was certain.

Charlotte let salty tears flow down her face, she was crying from two different things. One of them was her own fear - that thing had gotten so close to her! The other one was fear for Embry, as despite the fact she was mad at him (which was very hard for her to be, for some reason) she was terrified for his sake. She did not want him hurt in anyway. She was also shaking at the same time, she was both cold and terrified. She resisted the urge to run - a hard thing to resist - and stayed put. She was more frozen in fear than anything else.
What?! Charlotte could not believe her eyes when she saw the wolf rip the arm off of the redhead who seemed so focused on killing her. The scream the creature let out hurt her ears, and it felt like her eardrum practically snapped though she knew it had not. It was so loud though! When she saw the thing slip away from Embry's grip, her heart skipped a beat. She was not sure what was going on in her mind, which made her own thoughts race so fast she did not even realize she was able to think that fast.
Though, seeing the thing run off was a relief to Charlotte. It meant it was over (as far as she knew) which was something she glad about. She put her forehead against her knees, letting her tears stain her jeans. She wanted to just curl up in her mother's or step-father's arms and cry herself to sleep, she wanted to be home more than she ever had since moving up here. She was not used to being so scared, and had always considered herself so much tougher than she appeared to be at the moment.

When the redhead ran away, Embry stood protectively infront of Charlotte for a moment, making sure the vampire was not going to come back -- if she did, he'd finish her off. She never came back. Embry calmed down enough to phase back, and pulled on the extra pair of pains he had tied to his ankle this before leaving to come meet Charlotte. Turning around, Emb saw the curled up girl. He wanted nothing more than to run over to her side and hold her close -- he had almost lost her -- and he almost did, but he remembered that he should be more cautious. It tore him up inside to hear her crying as he walked closer and closer at his slow pace. This was never the way he had wanted her to find out.
"Char..." Em uttered febbly as he stood a few feet away. "Please. Don't be scared. It's over. She's not coming back." He tried to reasure her entirely. Perhaps he was the reason she was so terrified? He walked a little closer, stopping almost right infront of her. He crouched down slowly and hesitated on toucing her. "I won't hurt you." He whispered, looking down at the ground. He probably looked like a monster to her now. "Are you ok?"

Charlotte did wipe away some tears, not even thinking about the mascara smearing down her face. That did not stop more from coming, as when she got emotional like this it was harder for her to really be able to stop the tears for good. It wasn't often she got this emotional, but it wasn't often she saw someone she liked as much as him shift into a wolf type thing and then rip off someone's arm. She realized that she was shaking slightly also, not so much in the shivering way but just plain shaking.
The words were comforting, and Charlotte hadn't even thought about the possibility of Embry hurting here. She had had friends with boyfriends who abused him, and occasionally she and her friends would hit each other playfully, but she hadn't even thought of that from Embry. She swallowed slightly audibly, trying to take some control over the fear she had. She managed to stop the shaking for the most part and slow down the flow of the tears, but they were still there. It would be a few minutes before it stopped completely, though.
"I know..." Charlotte said, but it came out more quietly than she expected. "I didn't think you'd hurt me." Her Texan accent was thicker than it usually was, though what she said wasn't entirely true. She had more hoped he wouldn't.. "Yes, mostly." She was still terrified, though. Not of him (well, not so much now that he was normal) but more of what she had just seen. Who normally wouldn't be freaking out?! "Though it would help if you would explain what just happened." She tried to remain as calm as she possibly could, though it was hard with what she had just seen.
