Seth snoozed comfortably in his sleep, dreaming happily of outrunning his bossy sister Leah someday. Seth liked the dreams, because he knew his sister was pretty much faster than light. Or maybe that was exaggerating a teeny bit. One way or another, the dream would never become reality. The dawn broke through, and Seth, as if on a body clock, stretched and yawned. It was easier to sleep in his wolf form, more cushioning. He clambered onto his four feet and shook out his fur, almost immediately felt another presense in his mind, Leah. Seth smiled, he loved his big sister, although she was so overprotective of him. He didn't really need it any more. The idea of anybody but a fellow supernatural being damaging him was laughable. He half chuckled, half yawned. Seth started to jog slowly along the trail that was almost weared into the ground. As if he needed it, Jacob's, Leah's and his own scent were more imbedded into the perimeter than the giant paw prints were. Hey Leah, how long you been running? He wasn't quite up to full grammar yet, sleepy still, he preferred shorter sentences. He trotted along the perimeter casually. Jacob was probably still in the Vamp's house. He'd have to drop in soon, maybe for more of those wondrous cinnamon rolls. If Jake was snoring again, Seth swore he would buy earplugs. It seemed mega-hearing had a disadvantage.

Since I was five. Leah said with a bit of older sister charm in her voice, (other wise known as sarcasm). She was running had speed but picked it up some now that Seth was awake and she could annoy him by passing him over and over. Leah knew she would need to turn in after a few more hours as she had been running since before Seth passed out, but she had no plans to turn in until Jacob could watch her brother.
Leah could hear Seth wishing she was not so protective of him. It's laughable that something non-supernatural could hurt you, yeah, but we are protecting VAMPIRES from WEREWOLVES! Both were very supernatural, and could easily hurt her brother. After losing her father, she did not plan to lose a brother.
UGH, how can you go in there and eat their food?! The smell from out here makes me gag and my noise burn! Leah barked out a gagging sound as she ran as if to prove her point.

Seth could see the forest blur around Leah and decided he better pick up the pace before she lapped him. He pushed forward into the forest. Thanks Leah, I really needed a lesson in Sarcasm. Seth thought. Seth could really feel Leah's pain at losing their father and he could understand why she wanted him to be safe. Sam won't let the wolves hurt me, and the Cullens are nice people, good cooks too. Seth answered. The vampire stench isn't that bad, you know that food will smell good away from the stench. Good food deserves a good stomach. Seth, unsurprisingly, counted his stomach as a good one. And it's not as if we can eat anything of Emily's anymore. Seth continued. Then with a sudden burst of speed, Seth pulled away from Leah for a tiny bit. He wasn't going to keep the pace tough. Leah was going to win, again. Seth just wished he was faster. At least with the wind rushing through and by his body, the last dribs and drabs of sleep were driven away.

Leah slowed down some while her mind ran away with her. She knew better then to let her mind wonder down these paths but she couldn't stop it. Sam might not let the wolves attack Seth but Sam didn't think like a man sometimes, he thought like a leader. Would Sam order the pack to attack, and while not kill 'remove' Seth from their way?
Anger made Leah stop running and sit where she was for a moment, glaring toward La Push. He wont if he knows what's good for him! Leah snapped out. Sam was her weakness, in a way. She never though she would turn her back on him like this but when the moment came she couldn't not go with Seth . . . and Jake. Even if it meant protecting blood suckers, and their half breed spawn then she would do it to be free of Sam.
Maybe now she could move on. Get over it.
Leah shook off her thoughts and started running again. patrolling the same rim she had been running for a few days now. Your gonna go in their one day for a meal and they are gonna turn you into a meal. You should just go home to Mom, and let HER feed you. Neither of them had been home since this started. Leah was willing to bet when they did go home, their Mother was gonna KILL them.

Hey, be nice. We smell as awful to them as they do to us, I think. And I actually think Edwards cooking is better than mum's. I mean, it's a close run thing but... Seth trailed off. When he was younger he never thought he would hate sharing a mind with his sister, but now he did. When her thoughts went to Sam (which they did often) and Seth felt her almost endless pain, he wanted to rip Sam's head off for hurting her like that. He knew it wasn't Sam's fault but he couldn't help blaming it on him. Maybe it was a good thing leaving the pack behind. Seth winced at the thoughts of mum killing them. Visions of a knife with blood and Sue dripping poisin into bedtime hot chocolate filled his head. Seth laughed loudly, a wolfy sounding grunt. He loved his wolf body, his gangly sandy form, his bright brown eyes copied perfectly into the face and most of all, he loved the hilarious-sounding noises that came from his throat. If real wolves had it like that all the time, they had life good.

Leah wasn't near Seth and that was the only thing that keep her from biting some since into him. The leeches' cooking was NOT better then their mothers! Leah let out an annoyed growl at that thought, not wanting their mother seen as worse then the leeches in anyway. At least their mother had a heart beat!
Leah knew better then to keep going. Seth was friends with them and while she thought he was an idiot for making friends, and that this friendship was only going to end badly, Edward (eww) had helped keep Seth alive up on the mountains, so she wasn't going to plot to kill him unless one of the leeches hurt Seth. For now, she would stay out of Seth's friendships.
Leah would never tell Seth (though with wolf minds she knew he already knew) that she liked that he wanted to fight Sam for hurting her. While she hoped Seth never did it, she liked knowing her brother would. She liked that feeling of being loved.
Yeah, you just better not let Mom know you like the leech cooking better. Leah worried about their mother, allot. Being alone so much right after their father died wasn't good for her. Leah wished there was a way to talk Seth into staying at home more. For both Sue and Seth's sake.
[Sorry it took me so long to reply! I am back in action now! Full time!]

Seth showed his huge wolf teeth in a big grin. Somehow, although it was a show of appreciation, it probably managed to look terrifying anyway. At least Leah had thought that she would stay out of his friendships. It saddened him somewhat, that she couldn't be friends with the vampires, but at least she could accept his judgment. Don't worry, I'm not suicidal. Seth thought at her. If he told his mother that he thought Edward's cooking was better than hers, he didn't know he would get him first, Sue or Leah? His mind went to Jake, he spent most of his time in the Cullen' house now. He couldn't of been getting enough sleep. Too worried about Bella. Seth snorted. He was absolutely 100% sure that venom would save Bella and that the child would be safely delivered. Vampire venom could heal anything, right?

Leah gave a snort in reply to Seth's comment about him not being suicidal. That remains to be seen, little brother. Leah thought snidely, but fondly at her brother. Seth would forever remind her of a hippie. He wanted everyone to just get along, and nothing seemed to really bring him down. . . . nothing besides' Sam's controlling ways. Leah had known when Sam gave the order to attack the Cullens that Seth's heart would not be in it. She had wanted Sam to send Seth home and give him the order to guard the fort or something.
Leah had worried she would lose her brother in that fight.
So she was glad Seth had went with Jake, even if it meant guarding the leeches. Ugh! Seth you can't really WANT her to join them?! Don't forget what they are! They are killers! They could snap and kill every human in miles with in a half hour! Leah didn't think on the baby. She had mixed but strong feelings about the child. On one hand, she knew the longing and urge to do ANYTHING for a child. On the other . . . what would this child be?

Seth snorted in good humour but didn't bother to reply to Leah. Saracasm had little charm and his Leah was good at it. Then the thoughts of him as a hippy filled her head. He did a wolfy laugh, Seth could imagine himself in multi coloured kilts playing the fur-trimmed drums. Well, I'd rather have her and the child alive in whatever body than completely dead. Something's always better than completely dead. Besides it would kill Edward and Jake if Bella died, so it's four dead people, or four alive people in whatever form. I know what I'd take. And they don't kill humans, remember the entire reason for the treaty and the reason we're here right now?

Leah fought a mental imange of Seth in hippie gear before her grin turned into a unhappy scowl. She didn't see it the same way Seth did. She saw it as either way Jake would die a little. One way would be when Bella died and the other way would be when Bella went all leech. Leah knew all to well how broken hearts went.
If killed who you used to be. Leah had been a happy, popular girlly girl before Sam. Broken hearts and being 2nd best had a way of distorting you. Slowly. Don't be so sure that being all leech will be what's best for her. What if the baby is human? She could kill it. Then were would your friend Eddie be?

Seth read her thoughts as they flashed through her mind. At least she'll still be alive. And even if the baby died, he'd still have Bella. he argued. Seth to thought about what could happen, the child could be a vampire child as well. But which? He let these thoughts run through his mind as loudly as if he were shouting them. There was no way Leah could miss it. If the child was a vampire, they would all live happily forever, one big family forever. Guarding them from Sam's attack, forever. He yawned, the very thought made him tired. You should time out for a bit, you must've been up for ages. You'll get close to Jacobs total of sleep deprivation if you're not careful. He heard a thudding of paws behind him and skidded into action, kicking up mud behind him.

Leah could hear Seth's thoughts about the baby being a vampire and them living all happily ever after and Leah felt her belly roll. Sometimes your just to damn optimistic Seth! You failed to think about what if the child craves blood. That was what Sam feared. It was why he wanted to attack.
Why Leah had not really thought about it, she knew she would have attacked and been ready for it. She could have been cold hearted enough to do her job but she had been to worried about Seth to think about her own self. To worried to stop and think if this was breaking any morals she believed in.
Now however, she was just glad to be free of Sam. It gave her a high that made her less bitter and more friendly. It might be why she was not trying to talk Seth out of his friendships with the leeches. Not tired, yet. I will wait until Jake comes back so your not alone.

I'm just trying to focus on the positives, Leah. I reckon there's a good chance that both Bella and the child might live. And if it does drink blood, we'll just move the Cullen's to the Sahara and leave it at that. But we'll probably have to there wih them. Jake's not leaving Bella, you want to go with him and I want to go with both of you. At least Leah sounded better, less bitter when she was arguing with him. And typically protective of him. She was free of Sam now, and that came up in her thoughts more than ever when she was a wolf. Then, she was thinking about what would happen if it came to a fight. Of course, she wasn't worried about herself, she was just worried about Seth. Incredibly overprotective, Seth thought and then I can fend for myself, thanks, He thought indignantly. Bet you're tired really.

Seth -might- have made some point and might have had some good ideas but Leah's mind only heard one word. After this one word she either didn't pay attention to the rest or blocked it out with out thinking. Wait. We'll? Leah asked. There was going to be no we'll! There was going to be no Sahara and there was going to be no not finishing high school. At lest not for Seth. Jake was bad enough.
Leah wasn't sure if Jake was planning to finishing high school, if he even had and she not known, but Seth wasn't not going to . . . . So you plan to leave your windowed mother here, alone while you drop out of school and run across the globe to live with leeches in the land of the 'fire sand'? Leah knew she was using guilt but oh well. Besides, I only plan to stay apart of Jake's pack. I don't plan on following the leeches around and pretending to be apart of their mafia.

Of course, Seth had known there would be down sides to living in the Sahara, but he hadn't expected Leah to react the way she did. No, I'm going to stay with Jake. I want to stay with Jake. Anyway, you can't make me stay here. Sam's pack won't be too happy to see me again! It was true, what was Sam going to do if Seth came back, just be loyal and forgiving, just let Seth come home. When Seth hadn't even switched pack loyalties yet? Seth would bet that he wasn't going to be forgiving at all.

Fine! Don't go back to Sam's pack! But your not following the leeches around like their pet dog either! I might not be able to stop you, but don't for a moment this Jake can't. If he is not inclined to stop you, Mom will. Their mom might be human and weaker then them both but it was funny how Leah still did as she was told most times. Mostly it was habit and respect, but also it was because she didn't like being the bitter daughter who made her mother unhappy.
Leah might be a lost cause but Seth was not. She was not going to let her mother lose two kids. No way. You just going to leave your mother alone like that? Leah asked, again trying the guilt card.

Would you force Jake to order me back to La Push? You know he won't order us around. Anyway, where was he going to stay? Sam's pack was going to be hostile, so he didn't really want to go back to La Push. Sue would be so mad if he left her though. Sam's pack couldn't really chuck him out, could they? Seth didn't really want to go back to La Push anyway. Charlie might want to go with Bella and Sue might want to go with Charlie He thought half-heartedly. Side's, I can pass for a twenty-five year old. I don't need to complete my education. I don't you to go off without me, Leah. He said softly.

Leah felt her heart beat faster at Seth's words. She didn't WANT to leave the kid behind. Seth was her family, and she didn't have many people who still liked her around left. It was basically Seth and her Mother. But your not 25! Your still a kid! You should be doing kid things, not fighting wars to be able to stay alive!
What are you going to do Seth, Leave Mom here alone with that Swan guy she is getting close to? Leah hated being harsh right now but Seth should stay behind, and be normal. I have to leave, Seth, I can't spend my whole life watching Sam and Emily be the happy couple. You don't have to join Sam's pack but you should stay here and be with Mom.

Colin? Brady? They're thirteen? They haven't even grown up yet. They're still kids! I'm not a kid anymore Leah. I've watched people die. Seth argued back at her. He believed it and perhaps it was true. He was fifteen and he had the body and mind of a 25 year old.
That swan guy is Charlie, and mom can look after herself. She isn't expecting us to hang around forever, no mom expects their children to. Charlie was Bella's dad and the Cullen's were going to show Bella to him. If he knew about everything tensions would ease up.
Why can't mom and Charlie come with us and the Cullen's. Then nobody would be left behind. If everybody came it would make it easier again. Nobody would have to go back to La Push and the wolves. Seth clung onto this thought. He didn't want to let his sister, his alpha and his friends go in one instance. It would be far too much.
I'll go into a mental institute! He told Leah jokingly.

Yeah, you are Seth! Leah agreed, and knew there would only be one way to get Seth to stay in La Push. Leah would talk to their mother and have her ask Seth to stay. Let her be the one the get bossy with Seth. Leah knew it was tattle telling but oh well. Seth would deal with it.
Mom is not going to come around a bunch of bitters, Seth! We are going to to risk her that way!! Leah was very angry that Seth would even think of their mother around the Cullens! What would happen if they lost control? Their mother would be nothing but a meal to them!
