Runaway (TAG: BELLA)

[◇Renesmee Cullen◇]

It was early morning, about 7:30am or 8:00am. Most kids living here in Forks, were still at home fast asleep, of course they had done way to much 'partying' last night, so that was expected. Today being a Saturday and all, most teenagers were recovering from the night before. It looked as if the whole town was empty, not a single person on the roads. The sun was hidden behind the clouds, but it was a relatively nice day out for forks.

So when a small girl, looking to be about 10 or so, pulled open the large doors to Forks library, she was not expecting to see a few older people scanning the shelves of books. Looks like she was not the only one up at this hour. The librarians were a little shocked to see such a girl, with out a parent, but it was Forks after all. Nothing 'bad' happen in this small town.

Renesmee was not in school, well the story was she was home schooled... seeing as she grew so fast, she was kept at home really. People were not allowed to see her, not until she reached her full growth, so a few more years to go. People would talk if they saw Bella with a baby one day and a toddler the next. Renesmee was aware of this rule, but she just wanted some new books to read. She had already read the massive amounts of books her father owned... she was just ready for something new. Also she wanted to get out of the house. She had awoken up early this morning, and her parents were no where to be found. She was in fact on her way to the main house, but she got distracted, and off to the town of forks she ran. (Well running in the forest, making sure she was hidden, she knew the rules.)

Renesmee like reading. She like her parents read for fun, shocker! Unlike most of her mental peers she finds enjoyment out of reading a good book. So every morning as soon as she woke up, she would grab the closest book and just read until she was told otherwise. It was a little hard for her to read when she was at the main house, seeing as her family never really slept and it could get a little loud in there, and Renesmee was easy distracted she got that trait from her father. Also her parents deserved some more alone time. So she figured she would find her way to the library, the one she herd so much about. Renesmee was a very smart girl, so figuring out how to get there was not very hard. Yeah it was a very long walk... But Renesmee ran part of the way... and if her parents found out she might be locked away forever. Like her father she was fast... faster then any human, yet slower then most vampires.

Renesmee had a large smile on her little face as she saw the rows and rows of books. Her eyes just lit up with excitement. Where could she start? There were so many books... With a little sigh she went right for the first shelve of books, and pulled the first one, it was a child's books. lame! So she placed it back a little disappointed. Well she would try something more toward the back. She figured maybe the reading level got higher the further back you went? So she walked down a few isles and pulled a book of the shelf, it look promising, so she oped to a random page and read a few lines, it looks alright.

Yeah she knew she would get into some big trouble later, but it was worth it, she thought to herself. This place was AMAZING! She has never seen so many books in once place before. Her family's collection was close yes, but still. Renesmee curled up in a little ball in the back of the library with the very book she picked up. She was pretty much hidden from the people here, no one would see her, unless they looked.

Renesmee was in a ten year olds little body, so she could fit in small places. She sat between two shelf's reading. Maybe she would get in less trouble if no one really saw her? So far she was doing well, only one or maybe two librarians saw her, but they did not look as if they knew who she was. So that was good.

Renesmee knew what her parents would say. it would be something like, Nessie, you know better! I cannot believe you would do such a thing. Put our family in danger like that... blah blah blah. Well she was tired of it. She was part human, so why not? Yeah she grew fast, but that was just it. she grew too fast! No human would catch that. no one would make the connection... seeing as she was never really out before. So no one knew her. It was like she was a random child visiting... She knew how to dumb herself down anyway. She could talk like a ten year old. Or well she would try to act like the young people she saw on TV. Shoot, if this be the only time she leaves the house, so be it. No one would remember her, and when she was fully grown, surly no one would make the connection! Stupid humans and all... Well okay so they were not so much stupid, they just did not pay attention to things like that.

Renesmee tried to shake the thought from her mind before beginning to read her new book. It was rather odd, but a book is a book, no matter what it was. It was new and exciting, so why not. there were very few pictures in this book, and the text was small, just how she liked it. Turned out she picked up a book all about the world and different cultures. Perfect! She had always wanted to travel the world, but she knew her parents could not go out in the sunlight, so she was stuck here in Forks, where the sun liked to hide behind the clouds. Oh well. That's life. Maybe, Jacob would take her when she was fully grown. Maybe Jacob could show her the world? Maybe... just maybe.

Bella opened the door of the cottage to find the little house quiet, too quiet. She could usually hear Renesmee's softly beating heart upstairs as soon as she neared the cottage. Not this morning. She had only run to Esme's to return some Tupperware. Only Nessie ate human food on occasion, along with Jake and Seth who were often house guests at the cottage and Esme had taken a liking to exercising her cooking skills when she could. She often sent Nessie home with leftovers that usually just went bad in their nearly empty refrigerator.

Isabella took off yo the stairs. "Nessie?" She called as she reached Renesmee's door and flung it open. Bed unmade and empty. She looked at her watch, 7:45. Where could she have gone so early. She sniffed the room lightly. No foreign smells. She left the door open as she dashed down the stairs, grabbed her purse and keys and flung herself into the black Guardian Edward had bought her. Her wheels spun in the mud a little as she tore down the drive way. She grabbed her cell and hit the speed dial for Renesmee's phone. They didn't use their cells often, but they had them just in case. She drove down the deserted road with one hand on the wheel and the other holding the phone to her ear. At the same time she scanned the woods for sounds or smells of her daughter.

"Pick up the phone." She said half to herself and half to Nessie. I kept ringing. She didn't even think to check Nessie's room for the phone before leaving. She wasn't sure where she was going yet, she was just scanning. Eventually she would have to pick up on Nessie's smell. She wouldn't call Edward or Alice just yet. It she alarmed them Edward would go on a witch hunt. He would tear Forks apart until he found his daughter. The phone continued to ring.

Renesmee was clueless to what she was doing to her parents. No note, no nothing. She had just left. She was planning on going to the main house to look for her parent's but she got distracted. Something spooked her, and she just ran off to the town. She was really looking for Jacob. That's what she was planning on doing. She went looking for her Jacob. She never dreamed of finding such a place. If she knew the library existed, she would have left a note, taken her cell something. But she honestly left the house thinking she was going to the main house. But no, she went off looking for her Jacob and ended up sitting in a back corner of the library. Book in hand. She was just so lost in her 'worlds' book. Just looking at some pictures of places she has never seen, and never would. She was amazed at how humans lived in different place's how they ate different foods. How they had different clothing, ect. She was just in shock her little mind absorbing every little word of this large old book. Renesmee looked up, for a second. She had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she could not figure out what it was, or why it was there. The fact that no one knew where she was did not cross her mind. She did not see herself as doing anytihng too wrong. She just went out to get some books. It was all just a mess. Renesmee having a larger mind she could think of so many things at once, which caused her a little trouble. she got into things and ran off sometimes, but she was still a child, a child who got distracted, that's all. But none of that mattered, she just wanted to learn more about the world and she could do that here.

Bella drove frantically down the street toward town. The trees flew past her window as the sun started to rise, filtered by a think layer of clouds the light was still muffled. She kept he nose alert for the distinct hybrid scent of her daughter. The second she hit town it hit her like a tiny hammer, it was faint, but it was unmistakable.

She slowed down and drove down main street. It was impossible to be specific in a car. She pulled over frustrated and parallel parked her black car in one of the many open spots and flung herself out of the door onto the empty street. There were a few cars parked outside of the dinner for breakfast, a few in scatted spots down the street as well, but not many. She looked up and down the street determining the direction to head. South, most certainly south. She walked down the street at a swift but very human pace so not too look too panicked. As she walked past each building she inhaled ever so slightly, no human would even notice she was tracking. She didn't even need to turn her head. Not in the market, not the post office, not city hall either.

As soon as she saw the next building, she knew where she was, without even tracking. The library. Nessie was so like her. She sighed in exasperation before walking up the steps to the library and into the double front doors. As soon as the door open she was immersed in scent of her daughter. She was in here somewhere. She smiled and nodded at the librarian at the check-out desk before heading into the shelves of books. She took in everyone in the library. A bunch of older people. Renesmee would stick out like a sore thumb, but hopefully no one took notice. An older gentleman stared as she went past, something she was growing used to now that she was a Cullen.

She looked between the shelves, one by one until she found her. There she was, nestled between a pair of shelves with a large book open in her lap. "Renesmee Carlie Cullen." She said in such a maternal voice she almost had to look around to find Esme standing behind her or something.

Renesmee was so lost she did not even hear the door to the library open, nor did she hear her mothers heavy foot steep's nor did she smell her mothers scent. Nothing, Renesmee was 100% lost in the most amazing book in the world. She could not help it, but all the pleased. All the things she wanted to see, the places she wanted to go, the things she wanted to do!!! But her lovely relaxed thoughts were snapped in half as she herd her mother's almost angry voice. Renesmee was not expecting that, so she jumped, a human reaction, jumped high enough for her to be standing, clutched in her tinny little hands. "Mama!" Renesmee squeaked, her eyes wide with fear, fear of getting in trouble. Her eyes just looked at her mother, waiting to see what would happen. If her mother did not take the book away from her, they would have to destroy it. Renesmee was started to squeeze it harder then a human. Things would start to give way in a few moments. She only now realized what she had done. No not, breaking the rule's running around in public. How she would look, out ALONE! Ect, Ect, Ect. Renesmee's mouth open slightly, she was in trouble. Though she did not mean it at first. "So-sorry" Renesmee chirped up. getting nervous. She really did not realize what she just put her mother through. She never though about it. But hey, she was just a child. She was physically only 10 years old, She was so young, only living for maybe six years. Then again her mind was more advanced then a normal human 10 year old. she just wanted to read, that's all she wanted, she never dreamed she would make her parents so stressed. She was sorry.
