As night fell on the beautiful city of Volterra it was re-lit bu spotlights highlighting the ancient Etruscan architecture. The fountain in the center of the square lit up, but the water had been turned off for the winter season. The air was chilly and only a handful of local people rushed through the square on their way home. A pair of tourists looked around uneasily. This was clearly not what they had seen in the brochure. No doubt they had seen the photographs of the festivals in the summer, glittering fountains and the bright sunny weather. The man put an arm over her shoulder and hurried her back to their hotel. Tomorrow they would probably head back to Rome to make the best of the rest of their vacation.
A thin leggy figure entered the square from an archway. She had been scanning a small gallery in the base of the bell tower while she waited for night to fall on the small city. The long model-esque figure was dressed in a charcoal gray wool Fendi dress that was fitted, hugging her body to her mid-thigh. A pair of long stocking legs ended at a spectacular pair of black Christian Loboutin ankle boots with signature red soles. She wore a black Burberry trench over the whole outfit, more for show since her body had no need for warmth.
Jocelyn raised a dark eyebrow as she looked out on the empty square. A young italian boy of perhaps 19 walked by with a box of groceries in his hands. He smiled and looked her up and down as he passed. Jocelyn sized up the delivery boy. Tempting but too young. "Ciao bella." The delivery boy said as he passed. She nodded with a coy smiled across her full lips. She laughed inside a little at the courage of the delivery boy. If he only knew he had practically just knocked on deaths door.
She reached up and tugged on one of her black leather gloves, making sure it was on securely before walking gracefully out to the center of the dark square. She sat on the bench that surrounded the fountain. She crossed her long legs and opened up her purse, taking out her iphone. Volterra was turning out to be a big disappointment. She much preferred Venice, Florence and Rome to feed. Rome was especially good. Cocky, drunk, foreign businessmen were plentiful and eager to take a leggy beauty back to their hotel room. She scanned through some maps of the city on her phone, looking to see if there were any open bars or clubs in the city at this hour.

The Volturi were so very protective over their city. They did not allow hunting within it's walls. To do so would result in an immediate death. They had kept control of their city for thousands of years they were not about to lose that control. They could not allow the humans to know about them. They must be kept unaware of their presence. Continue to believe that their kind was nothing but some legend. Stories that they were told to simply scare them. How wrong they were, but it was needed. Humans could so easily realize the truth this was not something Aro would allow. Humans must be oblivious to them as they had for centuries. They were in age when their existence was a necessity.
Aro was made aware of a vampire within their city. He could have simply allowed the guard to take care of this as they often did, but Aro was curious. He was always curious. He wanted to know what this vampire want. After all the only reason to come to their city was to speak with them. What other reason would there be? Aro snapped his finger in an instant Demetri and Renata were at his side. He of course could not go alone who knew what kind of talent this vampire may have. Perhaps a talent he could gain within in his little 'collection' that would be splendid! Aro naturally wore the black robe that allowed everyone to know he was in power. The two guards he had at his side wore darker gray robes identifying them differently from Aro. Only the leaders wore the purest black of robes.
It was night so Aro would not have to worry about the humans realizing they were different. Of course if they looked directly at them they may notice their eyes were a bright red. But humans tended to look away from them. Aro quickly, but at a slow human pace, made his way toward the vampire. She was close to the fountain. Aro smiled friendly and curiously. He hoped she knew where exactly she was and the dangers of hunting in their city. He had seen the boy pass her before he approached her. "Hello my dear," Aro's tone was friendly as well as calm. Aro was very curious about this vampire and what she wanted.

Jocelyn sensed the approaching group of vampires without looking up. She smelled two... maybe three distinct scents. And three light sets of footsteps with no heartbeats to match. She heard the rustle of heavy robes and new it was Volturi. She had not expected an audience with the Volturi. She was not "gifted" is an extraordinary way and had not hunted in their city. She knew better. Ancel had made sure she was well versed on Volturi rule.
A smooth voice greeted her and she turned her crimson eyes upward in her most alluring fashion. She was stunned with what she saw. Not just guards as she had expected, but one vampire who must have been one of the brothers. She had never met any of the Volturi, but there was something about the way he held himself that asserted his position of power, not to mention his rich black robes and the way the other two guards flanked him and smelled ever so slightly of fear.
She maintained her confidence as best she could and stood up. Remaining sitting in his presence would no doubt be thought of as disrespectful. She gave the slightest curtsy and nodded her head down in a bow. "Good evening." She said in her low milky voice before looking back up at him.

There seemed to always be something to do Aro was always planning on gaining more power. He would have the most amount of power he could. He would be sure his power would continue to grow. Whether that was gaining talents or some other way. Aro loved having 'demonstrations' to show the Volturi's power. They did destroy vampires often those that came close to revealing their secret or disobeying them in some way or another. Aro usually sent the guards to take care of such matters, but on occasion Aro himself would come along as possibly one of his brothers. Caius more often than Marcus. Marcus simply did not care to much about anything any more, but he was still of great use. Aro needed his talent he needed to be able to know the relationships of others. It was so very helpful even more so when they were forced to destroy a coven they could know who to destroy first who was the most loyal. Who the leader was.
Aro smiled at the girl before him she was being courteous something that pleased him. "I am Aro." He was fairly certain she knew exactly who he was, but she may not know which of the leaders he was. Though it was easy to tell them apart they were all so different. But it worked out wonderfully! "I am so very curious, my dear, as to why you are in our city." Aro kept his tone friendly, but he was demanding an answer. Aro did not like it when he questioned someone and they did not answer him. Most of his questions were easy to answer. If he wanted to know more about a person he could always read their thoughts. It only took one touch for him to know everything. But he tended to wait just a little while find out more about the vampire before he read their thoughts. Aro did absolutely love knowing everything and he would find out more about this vampire.
Aro loved having visitors come to Volterra. He loved greeting vampires allowing the to know who exactly he was. Even though it wouldn't be to difficult to guess who exactly he was he still loved to tell others. To let them know he was in power. He loved his position and his power. He would do anything to keep it there would never a cost high enough for him give for power. Aro was also very curious he loved learning about new vampires. Even more so if they had some sort of talent. Aro wonder briefly if this vampire had a talent. Something that would be of use to him. Something he could use to his advantage. There were so many talents he craved that were just out of his reach, but he would gain them eventually. He would certain of that.

Jocelyn smiled confidently as he seemed to approve of her greeting and rose back up. So this was Aro. She should have guessed. She had heard about each of the three brothers from her teacher, but never expected to meet one of them. She knew the Volturi sought gifted vampires, something she was not. She used a gloved hand to push her chestnut hair back into place as he asked her what her business here in Volterra was. "I am merely passing though." She said honestly in a steady voice. "I of course have heard of you, but I was traveling through Europe and heard of the beauty of your city. I had to see for myself." It was an honest answer.
An old Italian woman hobbled by them with her head down, a scarf around her hard covered her face. Jocelyn could hear her whispering a prayer as she passed. Superstitious old hag, she though to herself. She looked into Aro's blood red eyes "I of course had no intentions of hunting here." Not quite a lie, since she hadn't planned on it. The thought had crossed her mind, but she knew better than to actually do it. The worst she would do is find a dark bar and tease some young man, lead him on, practice her lure and then disappear before she took it too far. "I just fed in Paris." She assured him. She was satisfied and would not act out.
She hoped her explanation would be sufficient. If he didn't believe her or found something off about her that would be the end of it. But she was confident in her answer. If her read her mind he would see. She had nothing to hide. She had not always been as in control of course. Her years as a newborn were wild and shameful, but far in the past. She was a different creature now. And in some ways more dangerous now that she knew how to use her strengths. She turned her thoughts back to Aro. "I am deeply honored to meet you of course." She said with another one of her sly smiles.

Aro could hear her tone was honest, but that did not mean she was telling the truth. Aro could often lie and make it sound so very convicing. It was a nessicaty to be able to lie more so with humans. After all they would believe anything, but with vampires it was different. But one would never want to lie to the Volturi that could very well result in death. And it's not like one could really lie to him all it would take is one touch and he would know everything. "Such a wonderful reason." Their city really was beautiful. It was ancient and had remained unchanged for the most part. There were areas that had to change humans changed for to much. "The only reason is to view our city? There is nothing more?" Aro was curious if there was more of a reason. Most that came was because of the Volturi. Some curious, a few had a request, some even interested in joining them. Aro loved gaining more talents, power.
Aro glanced at the human that passed them. As hard as they try there would still be a few humans would believe in them. Who would think they were not a myth. But no one believed them. They were so few who did believe them that those that did were thought to be crazy by the others. Regardless of how right they were. As long as there was none who knew for certain they were real there shouldn't be to many problems. Aro turned his eyes back to the vampire before him. "I would most certainly hope so." Aro kept his tone calm, calculated as he often did. "It would be such a waste if you had." They would destroy any who disobeyed them. It was forbidden to hunt within their walls. They were so very protective over their city. They would not want the humans to become to suspicious of them.
Aro smiled at the vampire in front of him. He was very pleased to see her take this as an honor. It most certainly was. Not many actually met the leaders of the Volturi. It was rare a privilege even. After all Aro usually sent his guard to take care of such matters. But she was in his city and Aro was curious. "It is most wonderful to meet new visitors!" Aro was careful with his words after all he wouldn't want to alert any of the near by humans. They were suspicious enough. But they had remained completely unaware of them for centuries and would continue to do so for many more years. Aro was most certain. "My dear perhaps it would be best to continue this conversation in a less conspicuous location?"

She nodded once in reply when he asked her questions, keeping her eyes steady and confident. She had nothing to hide. She wondered to herself why he himself had ventured out to investigate her intentions instead of letting the guards do it. She had not done anything too out of place and she was not a well know vampire by any means. She tried to stay under the radar, not pledging any sort of allegiance or settling in one area for too long, just as she had been taught. She had never gotten to travel in her human life, so now she embraced her freedom and had ventured to just about every corner of the globe (with the exception of the poles, where hunting was scarce and would surely be noticed.
He was being rather friendly, she was sure her flattery had something to do with that. Then he commented that they should perhaps take this conversation elsewhere. There was really no refusing. Not that she would anyway. If he intended to destroy her, he would no matter what. She doubted that was what he intended to do. "Of course." She said pinking up her handbag from the bench and putting her phone gently in it before swinging it over her shoulder. "One can never be to careful." She added coyly.

Aro watched the girl as she nodded. It was unusual to come only to see their city. Most were curious about the Volturi or at the very least wanted to speak with them. Rarely did one come simply to view their city. But their city was beautiful Aro would admit this. It had an ancient touch that most cities did not have. They were modern as the humans changed rapidly, but there still remained ancient remains. The castle probably being one of the oldest buildings they had. Aro was very protective over his city. He did not allow anything to happen within it. Humans even behaved themselves mores so than others. It truly was a worthy city to be in charge of.
Aro smiled as the girl agreed. "Yes it is wise to be careful. Even more so in our city." Aro wanted all vampires to be careful. To be aware of the humans around them. To make sure they did not reveal themselves. It was an important task. To keep their existence a secret. If any did break this one law they would be destroyed. This one law could be broken down in so many ways. It has taken centuries to make the humans believe they were nothing more than a myth. Time well worth the effort. Humans would no longer know about them. They may be suspicious of a them, but they would never know the truth. As it would remain forever.
Aro turned to make his way back to the castle. The guards close by him would make sure this girl would follow. After all he requested that she come she had already agreed. She shouldn't cause them to much problems. Aro did not like to many vampires being out in the city even if they were free from the sun's rays it was still a danger. Something Aro would not allow. Even more so with one he did not know. Aro wanted to know everything about this girl and he would so very soon.

Jocelyn felt the guards close in around her, flanking her and Aro on both sides. She couldn't escape even if she wanted to. She didn't of course and wouldn't try. Was she going to have the honor of meeting the other brothers? Visiting their castle? She knew she was headed for potential danger, but what else was new for her? Ever since she had been re-born in her new life, everyday meant danger.
She followed him through the corridors and tunnels in silence. Not even the heals of her boots made a noise, only a soft rustle from their flowing robes and the sounds of cars growing more and more distant as they went deeper into the old part of the city where cars were not allowed. She thought it best not to say anything yet, wait to be spoken to, wait until she knew where she was going and if his intentions were malicious.
(OOC: Sorry, don't know what else to write yet. Haha. Hope this is ok.)

Aro didn't pay to much attention to the vampire that was made to follow them. Aro was curious if his brothers would be in the main chambers. Perhaps he would request the meet their visitor. But Aro was completely unsure if this vampire had some talent something that would be of use just yet. Aro would wait and see what he could find out. Aro was curious about this vampire. Even though she had told him that she was only here to view their city that did not seem like a good enough reason for Aro. He would find out everything soon enough. All it would take would be one touch.
Aro made his way to the main chamber. Aro didn't pay to much attention to the other guards in the castle. Aro noticed his brothers were not in the main chamber as he expected. Aro turned around quickly his expression calm and friendly as he faced the vampire. "Now, my dear, perhaps we can talk more freely. First perhaps yo could allow me to know your name?" Aro did not like talking so close to humans. They could be so suspicious of course they could keep their tone quiet they would never even know they were having a conversation. But even then Aro was not to fond of it. "You have come only to visit our city. And not to see us. Most are quiet the opposite. But there is times for just viewing our lovely city." Aro was very protective over his city they had held it for centuries. "Perhaps while you are here you can learn much more than you had originally planned."
