Esme had been doing a little bit of shopping in order to change some of the house starting with the living room. Every once in a while Esme would get bored with the current setting of the house. She loved to redecorate houses. Which was great when you lived forever and always had to move around. It became a passion to her. Carlisle never said anything when she decided to change the whole house as long as she didn’t change to much of his office. Usually she would sit down with him and tell me what she thought would look great. She did the same for the “children” ‘s room. They would always have the final say of course.
The living room was currently in dark blue colors. She was thinking of maybe going more of a beige and chocolate constrast. So no she was sitting on the couch with different type of tissues for cover the furniture, different color of paints. She had also brough a few samples in case she wanted to try her hand at painting. Of course she would try it into a spot that would probably not show that much. Just in case it would take her quite some time to finish it. even if they didn’t often got visitors Esme always wanted to make sure her house looked perfect.
She also had started working on a garden in the back. Even thought none of the Cullens could eat. She knew Nessie might like that, or she could give the vegetables to Jacob and his friends. She wasn’t sure if he would actually take them, but she knew that eventually she would find something to do with it. Esme had always loved to help other. She might give them to some shelter. She knew she would figure out eventually. She looked around wondering what the rest of the family was doing today.

Leah closed her eyes and let her self go clam, as the big wolf form turned into her smaller naked human self. UGH, damn wolf skills needed to learn to give her clothing. She pulled on the jean cut off shorts and slipped on the tank top, and then used her fingers to shake out the grass and things from her hair. Leah hated being a wolf at time, and this was one of the main reasons. She hated being dirty! Before her wolf days she was a in door only clean girl.
Leah ran over from the woods to the house, and could already smell that Jacob nor Seth was here. Nor Ness! Damn, were was everyone? Leah walked around the house, planning to go to the woods on the other side, phase and just run home, but she came to a sudden stop whens he could the mother leech out side as well. Leah had recently struck up a friendship with Jasper, but it was awkward at the best of times and consisted of her trying to annoy him the rest. The rest of the . . . . The Cullens, Leah wasn't friendly with.
However, this was Jasper's Mom and Leah wasn't sure what to do. So she just stood there and looked around as if hoping someone would pop out and save her from holding a conversation with Esme.

Esme was already starting to move some furniture around. She might have been a small woman but of course like the rest of the Cullens she was quite strong. She could easily moved the couches, tables, and the Grand Piano around the room. She took one step back trying to see what the room looked like. Of course the colors were all wrong and was not what she had been looking for but it was a start.
She went upstairs to change into something she could paint in. esme was the type of woman who was always dressed in elegant clothes but she didn’t want to get them dirty. She put on a pair of jeans and a tshirt. She looked at herself in the mirror. She didn’t look anything like she usually did with her hair up in a messy pony tail. But it was better this then her every look.
She went outside and started to work on a few things. Suddenly she smelled something that was like wet dog. She turned around and was not expecting the person she saw. Leah. Leah clearly didn’t like the Cullens even if she had a friendship with Jasper. But Esme had never been one to be mean to other so she smiled at Leah. “Hey Leah. How are you today? Are you hungry?” she asked the wolfgirl.

Leah felt very awkward, and wasn't sure what to do. She knew what she wanted to do, she wanted to give a snide comment, roll her eyes and storm away. That would be the Leah thing to do, however three very important things stopped her. One was she had no where else to go (Hanging out in La Push sucked, since Sam and Emily's wedding day was growing closer), Jasper would not like her being mean to this mother (and Leah had no issues annoying Jasper, but there was some lines she knew not to cross) and lastly Esme was Ness' grandmother. Being mean to you friend's grandmother was a great way to get banned from the house.
"Not hungry." Leah said softly, the awkwardness she felt showing in her voice, as her belly growled giving away her lie. Leah's eyes shot a glare downwards as she mentally called her body a traitor. "Thanks anyway." Leah said going with the lie, as if Esme would not have heard the growl. "Where is everyone?"

Esme knew that Leah was mostly close to Jasper and Nessie in the Cullen family. She had been rather surprised at first when Jasper had mentioned his friendship with Leah. But she had of course accepted it. Leah sounded like a good girl. She just hated vampires not that Esme could blame her. After all Leah was a wolf and it was in her blood to be against vampires. She simply wished that Leah could see that the Cullens were different. She really doubted that this would ever happened thought.
She heard Leah’s stomach giving her away but she was not going to mention it. there was no need to make this situation more awkward then it needed to be. “Jasper went hunting with most of the family. But I think Alice went shopping and Carlisle is at work.” She said. “I know you are not hungry but I started to work on a few recepe for some bake sale and would love if someone could give them a try as I can’t do so myself.” She told Leah.

Esme was good. Leah would give her that, Esme had the art of hostess down. When she saw that Leah's pride would not let her eat she had given Leah an opinion of eating and keeping her pride, by making it seem like she was doing Esme a favor. Leah's lips twitched but she didn't quite smile. Yeah, Esme was good at this game. Leah ran a hand thought her short hair.
"Yeah, I could do that. Wouldn't want you getting embarrassed or anything if they weren't human like." Leah was willing to bet however that anything Esme or any Cullen cooked would turn out better then good. It was part of their 'too good to be true' persona. "Lead the way, and I will do what I can." Maybe someone else would come home and join them, however Leah had to admit Esme wasn't as bad as some of the others. She was nicer and it was easier to be around her then Alice or Rosalie or Emmett or that Eddie-mind-reading-freak. Maybe this would not be so bad?

Esme wondered if her plan was going to work. She didn’t Leah to have to force herself to starve herself because of her hate for vampires and of course she figured there was a part of pride in this. Accepting something from your mortal enemies sure was something hard to do. But then Esme thought she might have seen a smile or something like this across from Leah’s face.
“Thank you Dear.” Esme said as she walked to where the kitchen was. A nice aroma of chocolate chips cookies, caramel cake and blueberry muffins was filling up the air. She walked to the counter and took a muffin, a cookie and a slice of cake. “Would you like milk with that?” she asked her as she set the plate down at the table. She stood close but not to close. She didn’t want to sit at the table with Leah. She didn’t want to fast for the girl. It was already something that she had agreed to be as Esme for a moment that it was a start.

The house didn't smell THAT bad with all the leec-Cullens, out of it. Leah paused in the door way as if having second thoughts before going in and doing her best to appear relaxed. It was an epic fail on her part. Her shoulders were tight, and her movements quick and jerky as if she was expecting a fight. "Ummm yeeaahhh?" Leah replied to the milk question. "I mean, Yes, please." There, that would sound more polite. If the Cullens were nothing else they were overly polite to the point you wanted to shake them.
"So ummm, these are for some sort of bake off?" Leah asked as she picked up one of the cookies and smelled it. She knew there was no reason to fear eating food from a vampire but her set in stone hate for them made her drag her feet about it. "They smell good. What kind is this? I think I know this scent." Then Leah took a quick bit of one and froze, her eyes going slightly wider. Leave it to a vampire who was perfect in very way to prefect cooking cookies as well. "Not bad." Leah lied with her mouth full. The cookies were great, awesome, but Leah was to 'Leah' to give out that complement. "You can sit if you want."

Leah clearly was not the most polite person in the world but it all went with her persona so Esme was not insulted. She hadn’t expected Leah to be polite with her but it appeared she was trying. She walked to the refrigerator and took out the milk. She pour some in a glass trying to touch it as little as possible. She brought it back to the table and handed to Leah. “Hopefully I didn’t put too much of my scent on it.” She said excusing herself. She knew how the wolves felt about the vampires. The same way the vampires felt about the wolves specially scent wise.
“yes they are. Forks in having a bake sell to raise money for the school. I figured I could do my best to help out as best as I could.” She explained to Leah. “I”ve always loved to cook. But you know right now I don’t get to cook really often.” This was something that Esme missed from her human life. “Those are chocolate chips with a little bit of ginger in it. the comments on the internet said it brought something different to taste.” She told her as she sat down. “Thank you I know my smell is not your favourite…” she told Leah with a kind smile on her lips. “So what were you up to today?”

No, this wasn't awkward at all, Leah thought with a mass amount of sarcasm.
"Yeah the ginger. Yum." She said before biting into another cookie. It was hard not to eat the whole plate in a second like she wanted to, but she didn't want to appear to in to them. "You don't have ta worry, the cookies will make everyone thinking you do this all the time." Leah thought it odd someone so old fashioned and Mom like used the internet but didn't comment on it. It was hard to see Esme sitting on a computer chatting things up but that only proved how little Leah knew about them.
"I came by to look for someone." Seth. Jake, Jasper, or Ness. "Looks like everyone had something better to do then stay home today." Everyone but Esme. "How did you get left behind?" Leah asked only trying to be polite.

Esme was glad that Leah seemed to like the cookies a lot more then what she had let on. She was not about to say anything of course. She knew Leah had her pride and Esme didn’t want to touch that. “thank you dear.” She said. “I hadn’t cooked in so long. I used to cook a lot before…” she didn’t say the change. Because then that would reminded her of her child and what she had lost. She didn’t want to go there. She tried not to think about this too often. “But with Jacob around I get to cook more then I would normally.”
Esme nodded. “Yup they are all gone.” Left behind. Esme hadn’t really been left behind she had choose to stay behind but she understood what Leah meant. “well I needed to run a few errant and other then Rosalie or Alice the rest of the family, would pretty much do anything to get out of shopping.” She said laughing.

Leah paused mid bite when Esme talked about shopping and she looked around. Leah was hoping to see some sort of shopping bag, or sign that Esme had already gone shopping. It would have given her an major out and Leah could have just forced a thank you out and left so not to be in the way of Esme's putting things away. However she had yet to see a sign that Esme had gone shopping yet.
Which meant Leah either had to make up some plans for later, or appear rude of Esme asked her to go alone. Leah knew she could not be rude to Jasper's mother; and Ness' grandmother with out someone getting mad at her. Which men if she could not think of any plans, and fast, she was gonna have to go shopping with Esme. "You should take Jake!" Leah said volunteering her alpha. Esme would be HIS grandmother in law. "Deep down," (deep, deep, deep deep down) "He is a shopaholic!" Leah knew Jake might kill her for this but oh well.

Esme raised an eyebrow. “Jake??” she asked feeling rather septic. “I don’t think so.” She said. “Beside I just needed to get a few samples first to know what I want to change in the house.” She had already went this morning and got them. There were a few paint samples in the living room and tissue samples as well. She wasn’t too sure where Leah was going with this, she thought it was rather strange thought.
“I really doubt that Jacob would like to paint shop.” She said with a smile on her lips. “Also I don’t mind shopping on my own. Carlisle had never really been much of a shopper. He lets me do the shopping and the renovating. It was something that Esme had always loved to do. And now since there was not a lot of houses to renovate in Forks, she was working on their own house.
