Emily made her way toward the path that lead through the woods of Forks. 'Why did I agree to do this?' She thought as she scrambled over a very large rock. The night before Sam had asked Emily if she had wanted to have lunch with him. She of course had jumped at the chance seeing as Sam was barely around during the day and lunch was a rarity. They had both decided a picnic lunch by the little water fall and river would be a nice spot. Emily loved the wilderness and the water was something she couldn't live with out, but lugging the large basket of food, a blanket and the heavy pitcher of lemonade made for a difficult journey. When Emily finally did make it to the clearing Sam was no where in sight. She dropped to her knees exhausted and seriously considered going for a swim in the river. She was just sliding out of her shoes when she heard a rustle in the closest bushes.
((Tag Paul, You can be in the bush or just show up saying Sam can't come or what ever. Sorry I know this is a strange way to set it up))

Paul was ecstatic and annoyed at the same time. He loved this whole wolf thing to an extent. Sure, it was a little strange at first but the strength and the heightened abilities he had (speed, healing etc) made it so much more fun! And since when did Paul ever turn down an opportunity to show off? On the other hand, it was a little all too much. He still didn't understand the complexities of phasing, though it had been a while since he had first turned.
He was running around the woods, enjoying the fast speed in which he could travel. The others were patrolling, but not him. He was just running around.
Paul.
That was Sam.
Sup boss?
Can you tell Emily that I can't make it for lunch?
Sure thing!
Paul did not further question it. He put his tracking skills to test and it wasn't long until his nose picked up her scent. It was a very familiar one, since Sam and Emily had been together for a bit. Once he found the clearing she was, in he crouched behind the bushes. He had better phase out, he did not want to scare her. Did she even know he had phased?
Either way, he distanced himself a little and phased out. He put on the jeans he had wrapped around his leg and stepped out of concealment. "Hey Em," he greeted. "You alright?"

Emily knew that voice, Paul was here. "Hey, didn't expect to see you today." Emily replied spinning on her heels to face him. "I'm okay, being out here is safer with Sam though." She replied hugging herself and looking warily into the shady woods. She was no fool, they were never the only ones out there. "He's supposed to meet me for lunch." Em added indicating the heavy basket and pitcher. She smiled then slid to a cross legged position, leaning against a rock. "I would hug you but your kind of- not wearing a shirt. Sam might not appreciate that." she sighed Sam had become more over protective of her recently she hadn't had any clue why until Paul started walking around with no shirt on. She didn't know for sure but she thought he might be phasing too. She sincerely hoped not, Sam had told her what the experience felt like and it hurt her to think that Paul would have to experience such a thing as well. She thought of both Paul and Jared as family, the two were always at Sam's side and that meant she saw them regularly. At first since they were older she had been quite and kind of thought of them as older brothers, but after awhile she saw how they were just big kids and she began to try to be the peace keeper, and family cook. "Do you know where he is? Have you- spoken with him at all?" Em asked trying to figure out if Paul had phased or not. She didn't want to push him, she knew she'd hear a lot about it eventually, Paul was kind of loud about things.

"Yeah well . . . surprise!" He exclaimed, putting his hands out in a gesture to further express his surprise visit. He tried not to eye the food. First he would tell her that Paul was not coming, then he would try to mooch the food. No sense in allowing all of it to go to waste. "No kidding. You never know what might be lurking around in the woods," Paul said, slightly ominously, his voice getting serious for a moment and allowed a few seconds of silence pass, before breaking into a grin once again. He chuckled at her comment about his exposed chest. "Hey, I wouldn't tell," he said winking. He enjoyed teasing Emily . . . though, he also would never try to do anything with her. Even Paul Moran was not that stupid.
"Yup! He said he couldn't make lunch. Sorry Em. He sent me in his place . . . he said that I should eat the food for him." Paul's grin widened, wondering if that small fib would convince her to let him eat the lunch her and Sam were supposed to share together. Paul was starved! This whole phasing thing really made his appetite crazy.

Emily giggled as Paul made a big deal about his entrance. He was almost always silly and she liked having him around because he never failed to make her laugh. "Yeah plus these woods aren't exactly the friendly little helpful bunny type." She commented just having babysat and been forced to watch Snow White over and over again. As Paul talked about things lurking in the woods Emily was thinking that maybe he did know about the vampires. Emily threw Paul a dirty look as he winked at her. "You would say that." She commented although she found it hilarious. He just loved to tease her like that. It was funny as long as Sam wasn't around he didn't think it was all that humorous. She was head over heals for Sam and everybody knew that but that didn't stop her from thinking Paul funny. Emily looked at Paul skeptically, "He said to eat the food." Emily asked. She wasn't stupid Sam wouldn't have wasted time saying something like that. If he was busy with something that kept him from time with Emily, he wasn't wasting it on something unimportant. "Your a really bad liar Paul Moran." She said and sighed "I should have known this would happen." The only thing that pissed her off was the fact that she had traveled all through the 'deadly' woods to meet him carrying heavy drinks and he wasn't coming. She opened the basket took out a sandwich and passed the rest to Paul. "Obviously your hungry." She said, "As long as someone gets fed and is happy then my day won't be a total waste. She smiled at Paul and unwrapped her sandwich taking a small bite.

Paul did not stop smiling, even though he knew that Em was aware of his lie. "Yeah . . . you know Sam, always keeping others in mind." He may as well stop encouraging the white lie . . . Emily was offering him the food. He paused for a moment. "You alright?" Now Paul may not be the best person to give advice or comfort someone when they were upset, but he figured he should ask her . . . as they were friends and he did care about her . . . though he would never quite admit the fact that he actually had a softer side to him. He was much too volatile for that. But at least around Emily . . . well, she knew just how not to push his buttons.
He took out a sandwich from the basket and shoved it into his mouth. "Man! These are delicious!" He said, not having quite swallowed what was in his mouth. He shoved the rest in and waited until he swallowed enough to be understood. "Sam has no idea what he's missing! You should ditch him and hook up with me . . . I would never miss a meal!" Paul was of course joking. He would never say such a thing with an ounce of seriousness, for he of course, did not see Emily that way. Upon phasing, Sam had explained imprinting and though Paul did not understand it, he now understood why Sam had been so quick to ditch Leah and start a relationship with Emily instead.

Emily shook her head as Paul continued with the lie. "Seriously Paul, how does insulting my intelligence make me want to feed you huh? Come on I know you well enough to see when your lying." She was just teasing of course, a playful smile lighting up her face.
When Paul asked if she was all right she shrugged, "As well as can be expected." She answered It was sweet when Paul showed his softer side, his caring side.
"Thank you. They are fun to make too." Emily said with a little grin, she didn't expect Paul to find it fun like she did. He'd be a good taste tester though.
When Paul teased her about ditching Sam and getting with him Emily reached out and smacked his arm. "You know just how to make a woman swoon Paul making her envision slaving away in the kitchen for a guy who'd eat her out of house and home. How could I possibly resist that?" She covered her mouth as she giggled.

"Well, you see . . . I already got your food right here," he said, motioning to the food she had given him. "It'll take me about five minutes to inhale it . . . and that on its own, should be a compliment and make you flattered enough to wanna cook for me again." Ah yes, twisted logic, but that was how Paul was. "This food is damn sure, and that sure as hell isn't a lie," he said, as he stuffed another sandwich into his mouth. When she answered his question, he did not pry. He was not going to get her to admit all the deep stuff she was feeling. That would force them to have a serious conversation and 90% of what Paul talked about was anything but.
"Ow!" He exclaimed, exaggerating the amount of pain. "I know right?! Any woman's dream should be cooking for me. I'd offer a great reward too," he added, winking . . . implying something a little less than appropriate, but knowing she wouldn't take offense to it. And if she did, he knew it would require an apology of some sort. "You know you wanna! Just don't tell Sam, I'll break it to him gently."

"Alright, alright I'll forgive your hideous lying streak because of the comment about how good my food is. "Emily said teasing him. She shook her head at his twisted sense of things. She watched him shovel in the sandwiches for a moment before she looked away, it was amazing how fast the kid could eat! She took another bite of her own sandwich laughing about the fact that the two of them would probably finish eating at the same time. She looked at Paul with an expression that said 'seriously?' as he shouted ow, there was NO way she'd hurt him in the least. "No way I'm not apologizing for that, theres no way I hurt you mister drama queen." She said smiling. Emily covered her mouth with her hands in utter shock. Then she began to laugh, muffled at first by her hands and then she let them fall and her laughing grew in volume. "Paul Moran! What makes you think I want anything to do with you?" She asked, hands on her hips but smiling. Although she didn't, Sam was her love forever and she'd NEVER do anything to risk that, she found it hilarious to joke with Paul. It was fun. "You think I want to be your little woman. Cooking all the time and cleaning after you." She shook her head, grinning, "What would your reward be? Actually washing the dishes for once?" Emily laughed throwing a cup at Paul and taking one for herself. Then she poured some lemonade in her cup and then Paul's as well.

"Hey, you can never stay mad at me . . . you know that," he said winking. "Maybe you didn't hurt me physically, but emotionally . . . it got to me right here," he said in an overly pitiful voice as he pointed to his heart and formed his lips into a pathetic pout. "It hurt my feelings! Then again, this food is really helping ease the pain," he said, taking another massively large bite.
When he swallowed, he took the cup and drank the entire thing in one large gulp. "Washing the dishes, well . . . if you wanna call it that, sure! But trust me, cooking for me would have its big advantages. For one, I would never waste a crumb and second . . . yeah, well we already talked about the reward right? I'll be a gentleman and not go into detail about that." His relationship with Emily was closer to a brother and sister rather than any romantic interest in her, and the fact that he was now part of the pack . . . he knew that meant he would be spending even more time with her which meant he would get more of an opportunity to tease her.
It was then that he realized he had not told her about his phasing and such. Did she know? Could she tell? He hadn't seen her for a few days . . . he had been 'sick'. Maybe he could take this opportunity to tell her personally. "You know you would love the appreciation I'd give ya for your food. The compliments would never stop!" And with that said, he felt it was appropriate to take another sandwich.

Emily made a face at Paul that said 'Oh you hope so' but then the face broke into laughter. Damn he was right, she couldn't stay mad at him for long. "Well the food should be making you happy. It took all morning to prepare." She said shaking her head. Sam was always busy. She didn't know why she still let this kind of stuff effect her. it happened a lot. She literally laughed out loud when he began his sentence with the whole if you wanna call it that thing. "Washing he dishes, you make things so...unromantic Paul." Emily said continuing her giggles. "Well I already have a man who compliments my cooking, and everything else so I'm all set but I'll keep you in mind mister stuffs his face." Emily commented as he shoved another sandwich in his mouth. "How do you breathe?" Emily asked laughing a little at the site. She poured him more lemonade afraid the kid would choke. "Chew your food Paul, didn't your mother teach you that?" She asked laughing some more.
