Edward has bronze colored hair that is usually a bit messy. His skin is very pale as any vampire's skin is. In the sun it sparkles like a thousand diamonds. Edward's eyes are a golden topaz that changed to black depending on his thirst. The thirstier Edward becomes the darker his eyes will be. His eyes are an unusual golden color because of his diet of animals. Edward dresses with style mostly due to his dear sister Alice who wants to make sure everyone in her family looks their best. Edward often wears a grey pea coat.

Edward has very strong morals. Edward is always polite to others as he was raised in a time when this was very important. Edward has not changed much even after he was changed into a vampire. He always wants to do the right thing and often has conflicts within himself. He see's himself as a monster regardless of what his family or even Bella thinks. This is something he struggles with most. He does not want to be a monster even though it is in his nature to be a predator a monster. This thought process rarely changes though as he meets Bella this does start to change slightly. Thought this thought will probably never really change in Edward's immortal life.
Edward considers himself selfish at times. Often with Bella he thinks he has taken something he should not. He wants Bella even when he should not. Another conflict he tends to have within himself. But Edward can also be selfless doing everything he can for his life and for Bella. Regardless of what Edward really things he truly is a good person. He is pure and always chooses to do the right thing. It is very are for Edward to openly choose to do the wrong thing. Even when this does happen he always goes back to choose what he should have chosen or done. He wants to correct any mistakes he may have made in the past. Because of such mistakes he often thinks he is undeserving of Bella.
Edward is a very determined person. Once his mind is set their is no changing in effect he is often stubborn. There is very little that can change his mind. He also hates not getting his way he is often put into a bad mood because of this. Edward is also very musical he is an expert at playing the piano and writing music. Edward also enjoys reading and writing. Though his writings he would rather not have anyone else read mostly his thoughts more like a journal than anything.

Edward was born to Edward and Elizabeth mason in 1918. Edward grew up with proper manners as any young man during that time did. His mother taught him to have strong morals and it was very important during the early twentieth century. Edward wanted to a be a solider and go to war during the first world war. However, this was goal was quickly cut short as the Spanish influenza hit. Edward's father was one of the first to die when the epidemic hit. Edward's mother, Elizabeth, and Edward himself were both also hit with the illness. It was during this time when Carlisle Cullen was working in Chicago. Elizabeth begged Carlisle to do all she could for her Edward. Edward was dying there was no doubt he would not die. Carlisle took Edward from the hospital and changed him into a vampire.
A few years went by and Edward had adjusted to the life of a vampire. Esme eventually joined Carlisle and Edward and Esme fell in love with Carlisle. Some time later Edward went on a rebellion choosing to feed off the blood of humans instead of animals. Edward thought he could cheat using his ability to read minds choosing only those that deserved to die. However, over time Edward realized this was wrong of him there was nothing he could do change what he had done all the humans he had killed. Edward was gone for about ten years before returning to Esme and Carlisle. They greeted him back happy to have him back within their family. Carlisle changed Rosalie because of what had happen to her and he had hopes she would be to Edward what Esme was to him. This, however, did not happen.
Emmett was saved by Rosalie from being mauled by a bear. Rosalie and Emmett quickly became mates. It was sometime later the Cullen's found themselves close to Forks. The Cullen's came across a group of Native Americans called the Quileute. It was here they were forced to make a treaty with them. If they would keep off their land and not bit any humans then they would not reveal them to the humans. Carlisle and the rest of the Cullen's made the agreement. The Cullen's eventually had to leave this area as they could not remain in one area for to long before the humans became suspicious of them. Alice and Jasper were the next to join the Cullen's before they returned to Forks.
