Jasper was outside in the garage, inspecting the gift he had gotten for Leah. He had been around the world searching for the fastest motorcycle. Money was never an object for the Cullens, and while Jasper had no intention of showing off his money by purchasing an expensive gift, he had in fact got her a very costly one. It was more about the idea rather than the price of it . . . there was a bit of sentiment behind it and that was what Jasper had wanted. In addition to the motorcycle, he had also bought her the appropriate attire to go along with it. Nothing too over the top: a helmet, jacket, glasses, and a personalized license plate to save her the trouble of getting one.
He put a cloth over the bike, and kept the other parts of her gift wrapped in boxes with bows on the top. Yes, it was certainly feeling like Christmas indeed. And today, Leah was to come over so that they could exchange gifts. Jasper walked outside the garage, looking at the snow on the ground and taking an unnecessary breath. He found himself wondering if she would like the gift. Was he worried about it? Not quite. He would have to ignore what she said, for he would find the true answer deeper within mere words. That was the way with Leah. Had Jasper not been able to tell her true emotions, for her words often masqueraded them, then he was not sure they would be as good friends as they currently were.
And so, he stood in the cold which did not bother him in the least, waiting for his wolf friend to come.

Leah was in ear shot, before she was in eye shot. She either was talking before she was in ear shot, or started right on the edge because she was mouthing off just as fast as she could run. "-starting to hate friggin' holidays, nothing like a slap in the frigg' face reminder that your single and no one else is! Mom is barley single! Can you believe that! Charlie Fringg' Swan! Who'd a thunk that white boy of a cop would have made my mom happy. THEN to stop it off, when I asked her what she wanted for Christmas she said 'Oh Leah! I want you to be happy!" Leah came into view wearing her normal jean and a white tee shirt, and hiking boots. Her hair was lose and flew wildly around her head, as she walked quickly and ranted. She was almost to him.
In her hand was a purple box, the edges slightly bent suggesting not the best care; and the paper was wrinkled hinting at either a bad wrapping job or over handling. "So I think -GREAT- now I can let her down AND be bitter and guilty for the holidays!" Leah's emotions were troubled, almost nervous, cause she had spent like 80 bucks on something she was only half sure Jasper would at lest keep around. She didn't know if he would like it, she didn't know if he had already had something like it, and she didn't know why she cared. Besides, it was like failing before starting. You didn't get the family that has everything, something special for under a grand.
"Merry Christmas," Leah said and held out the package, it bumped into his chest in her hurry, and the sounds of medal clinking could be heard. "Happy Go To Hell." She grinned as if she had been waiting to say that line all day and had just succeeded.

Jasper listened to every word, and did not stop looking at her, not even when she was directly in front of him and shoving her present at him. He had not expected anything, but he did appreciate the forceful gesture. He knew that Leah was often like this, but today, she seem exceptionally more bitter than usual. Perhaps the holidays did that to people. He wanted to help her mood though, so he thought he would have a bit of fun. He was in a rather good mood today, and he did not want Leah's emotions to effect him; he wanted it to be the reverse. He handed his present back to her, and folded his hands behind him, standing across from her with very straight posture.
He then began to change her mood, not too drastically, just a little more happy and festive rather than bitter and angry. He wanted to make it enough so that when she handed him a present, it was done with a smile or at least more gently than how she had just done it. He would of course not manipulate her emotions when he gave her the present he had gotten for her, for he wanted her reaction to be genuine. "Happy Holidays Leah," he said, smiling.

Leah wasn't an idiot, when he handed her the gift back her emotions held a bit of self doubt and awkward fear that he didn't want it. Then they shifted, they went higher, she felt less bitter, as if the fact that she was going to be spending a Christmas failing her mother, and alone . . . again. She wouldn't have friends to see, and she wasn't going to Charlies to have a 'family' meal. She would run patrol, alone, and let the others enjoy a holiday she wasn't sure she could enjoy. It all didn't matter. She felt light hearted and randomly happy.
And she would glared at him if she could summon the anger.
Leah knew random mood swings around the leech meant he was toying with her; but at the moment, she just did not care. She took the gift and put it behind her back, "Trying to tell me something, Sparkles?" She asked, in a joking tone that should have been sarcasm but only came out light and teasing.

"I am merely trying to express to you that this time of year is a time to temporarily let go of everything, and enjoy the holidays. And the tradition of gift giving should not be done with anger." He paused, still smiling at her, and not releasing the emotions he had imposed on her. "Perhaps it would make you feel better if I give you your gift first? Would that perhaps help put you in a more festive and jovial mood?"
Jasper enjoyed Christmas, and he wanted his friend to enjoy it too. He did not want to force her to enjoy, which is what he was sort of doing now -- to some extent -- but rather, he wanted her to have a genuinely good Christmas. He would do whatever he could.

Leah grinned brightly (and slightly faked) before shaking her head. "No. Get it over with. Open mine." She sort of hoped he would open it and--- well, she had not gotten past him opening it. She was slightly nervous over if he would even like it, and almost took it back cause she thought it would be stupid. It had been a random idea and it had cause her allot of money but the longer she thought over it the dumber it seemed.
Even with him making her happy, she still felt the slight doubt. "Here." She offered the package gently this time. "Open it and look. I didn't get the receipt lost, so I can return it if you rather something else. Not a big deal." But it was to her. "No sweat."

He could feel her nerves . . . but did not react to them. Jasper knew it was too intrusive to react to every emotion that a person was experiencing, especially ones that they tried to conceal. Jasper was not going to argue with her though. He would open his gift, and then hoped that his would make her mood genuinely better without him having to influence it. He waved anything he was making her feel so that she was back to feeling whatever emotion came naturally to her.
"Would you like to go inside?" He asked, wondering how long she planned to stay for, or if she wanted to be in a house with such a strong vampire scent.

OPEN THE #$&%ING BOX AL-#$%&*(^@-READY!
Leah gritted her teeth and gave him a forced smile. She hated drawing things out and making a big deal out of things like this. It was a big deal to her, but she didn't want it made into this long drawn out leech display of rich and power! Just open it admit you have millions just like it, thank her for the thought and let her bad day get worse already!
"I will spare the leeeeeiiiittle family my presence on this holiday. Tell them that is my gift to them." Her not being there to ruin everything. She crossed her arms over her chest and did her best not to glare at him. "Are you going to open it, or see how long you can draw this out, Sparkles?"

Patience did not seem to be a virtue Leah had. Then again, Jasper already knew that. He slowly began to remove the tape from the wrapping paper, taking his time. He was not one of those overly eager people who just ripped the present apart. When the wrapped paper was off, and held in one hand, he held the box in the other, and looked at the picture on it. It was . . . a chess set. But not just any chess set . . . a civil war one! His eyes slightly widened. Jasper absolutely adored it. He was not one to over act, despite the strong emotions he was feeling.
He looked at her and gave her a genuine, very jovial smile. "Thank you," he said with pure sincerity. "This is truly a magnificent gift." He hoped his words were enough to convince her that he really liked it . . . hopefully she knew him well enough to recognize the honesty behind his tone. But, neither of them were the hugging type, so all he could do to express his gratitude was smile at her. "I love it," he added, continuing to emphasize his excitement over this amazing gift. She seemed to know him well, which not common among many people. "We must play some time," he said, hoping she would accept.
