The sun was slowly coming up, and turning the dark dangerous roads into the beautiful country side La Push was, around the same time the little blue bug came into town. Rachael was scared, confused and a little angry however it all came out the same way, and only made her look unsure and shy. She had always struggled with how to display her emotions, and sometimes she got her emotions out healthy, while others she still had trouble with.
The past few days, were troubled days. How did one react to the news that her boyfriend could turn into a wolf bigger then her car? Worse yet, how did that same girl handle the news her baby brother was one of them? Rachael was a very smart girl, so in the brief conversation she had with Paul before she left town; she knew enough to know the stories her Dad used to tell them as children, were real, she just didn't know how real.
She wanted to find Paul, and both apologize for her freak out, as well as try to assure him she would stay around and try to figure out what this meant for them. However she needed answer to some questions before she did. And their was one person she was brave enough to bully.
No matter how shy she was in high school, Rachael never felt shy around her family, and Jacob had been one she felt especially at ease with. Maybe the most at ease in times. Her Dad while they were close, she had not known how to help him move on with his sadness, and then his sickness that took away his ability to walk. With Rebecca, she felt very at ease with but Becca was so much larger then life at times. Very un shy and bold. Jacob had been younger, more down the earth, and at times smarter then their sister.
Jacob had been the hardest to leave when she had left, he had been so young and she knew the weight what would come on him when her and Becca had left the house. But she could no longer stay.
The little blue bug came to a stop out side of the house, and Rachael all but fell out in her hurry to find Jacob Black and make him tell her everything. [/blockquote][Jacob Black!] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

The news came fast, as it always does around La Push. If something to do with one of the wolves happens, they all know. But what's worse is this particular thing had to do with two wolves. Paul and Jake. Paul's imprintee was none other than Jacob's own sister, and apparently Rach did not take to well to her boyfriend striping down and transforming into a wolf right in front of her. So of course she was now well aware that her little brother was also a wolf.
The main thing that frightened Jacob though was that Rach wouldn't come back. She had taken off, and he feared he wouldn't even get to say good-bye. Not that he wanted to. The only thing he had been grateful to Paul for was keeping his sister around, and now... He punched a wall, and held his eyes shut for a moment, trying not to cry. His sisters meant the world to him, but Rach and him had been close, closer than he was to Becca. When she had come home, she had made things better, except for the Paul dilemma, but that one he could handle. He would rather deal with Paul then not have Rachael at all.
Just as Jacob was about to hit another wall he heard something, and stopped short. He was almost positive it was his sisters car, and if she really had come just to say good-bye he would strap her to a pole or something and make her understand that she can't leave him again. That he couldn't bare to loose her, not her two. He held back his tears once more as he stuck his head outside of a window to see his sister almost collide with the ground before she caught herself and started almost bolting toward his house.
His body reacted quicker than his mind and Jacob found himself outside facing his sister, standing in his usual attire of nothing but a pair of cut-off shorts. He should've dressed. Maybe that would make it less real. No, real was what Rach needed. She needed to know the truth, being an imprintee meant she was allowed to, but more so than that. She was a Black. Their grandfather had been the leader. The bloodlines were pure, and it was because of these bloodlines that Jacob was this way... would Rachael become one to, like Leah had due to some many vampires in the area? He shook his head, hopefully she was past the age already, he wouldn't wish this on his sister.
As Rach came closer Jacob ran out to her and caught her in his arms. He wrapped her into a tight hug and picked her feet right off the ground. She could be mad with him later, right now he was just happy his sister was still in La Push. There was some hope. He could deal with that. [/blockquote]

Rachael was hurrying to the house one moment, the next she found Jacob in front of her and before she could even gasp in surprise; in the same half second of a moment, he had her in a hug. At first, Rachael's arms were pinned between her self and Jacob's overly warm skin, but she managed to pull them out and warp around Jacob's neck. Whatever emotions she had felt a moment ago, whatever anger and hurt or whatever she felt, slipped away for a few moments. This was Jacob, her brother. No matter how much all this had scared her, it was happening to him. Was this why he had ran away? Rachael felt angry in a small why that this had happened to her brother, and anger at her self that she had left and he had been forced to handle this alone. There was the guilt as well, that she felt for leaving. She had always felt guilty but at the time she had been drowning in La Push. No friends, and she never went out. When she had left she had the freedom of being the new face, and doing and being who she wanted. She had allot of friends, and even some very impressive job offers that would help her build a carrier she wanted. Before Paul had showed her what--WHO he was, she had felt torn between the two worlds. She wanted to go and build a life for her self and see the world, but she had also wanted to stay and be with Paul and help Jacob though whatever was hurting him. (Rachael knew Bella Swan, had known her from the summer visits she used to make and thought she was spoiled and after knowing how she had hurt Jacob, Rachael wasn't pleased with Bella.) After knowing the truth, Rachael doubted she could ever leave. Something was happening here, and her family needed her. (Family being Jacob AND Paul.)
Rachael had thought they might be into drugs or something. It would explain why they were so big, and why they kept things to them selves. However when Paul had 'told' her about what he was, Rachael had been able to put a few things together. The size of all the boys who stuck together. Like a pack of boys, or a pack of wolves. Paul had not told her anyone else's name of who was in this 'club' but he had not had to. "Oh, Jacob. We need to talk!" Rachael said, her voice showing the slight fear she felt. She was not afraid of Jacob, just the answers to her questions. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Ray's arms wrapped around Jake's neck and he could feel her shaking. He never wanted his sister to get hurt. His family had already been through so much. Loosing their mother had destroyed the girls. Jacob had been to young to have the privilege of running away from that. Instead he had run away from Bella. But had it just been Bella, or loosing yet another important women in his life. He had lost so many, at least until Rach finally came back. And now that she was back, he didn't care, he just couldn't loose her again. Not again. It was just too much. He would so anything she asked.
Even answer any questions she desired. He simply shook his head and finally brought himself to let go of his older sister. But he wouldn't let completely go. He kept an arm wrapped around Rach as the two walked toward the house, he wasn't letting her get away, not this time. Once inside, Jake moved toward the couch, let go of his sibling and sat down. He patted the chair across from him, motioning her to join him. "What would you like to know? Shoot." He gave his sister a welcoming smile and relaxed into his seat. [/blockquote]

Rachael did join him, but only after a moment of standing back watching him. The hardest part would be starting the conversation with her brother. Rachael was sure she was ready to say the words allowed that needed to be said allowed. So also wasn't sure where to begin asking the questions that she knew she needed to ask. What was the logical order to ask someone if they were able to turn into big scary wolf!?
"I drove all the way down here while letting this conversation go around in my head." She had planned to find him and be all tough and demand the answers he had been keeping from her. In her mind she was the rational strong woman who could question him until he gave her what she wanted. Now, here. . . her courage failed her. "Jacob, I--" She tried to form the questions, but couldn't. Didn't even know were the start. "Can Dad hear us, or should we---"
That was when Rachael remembered the storied their Dad had told them as kids. About how the tribe came from men who turned into wolves, and how he had told them these men still protected La Push. At the time, Rachael had thought he meant spirits, and later when she was older, she just wrote it off as cultural believes of an charming old man. then after what Paul showed her she wondered if their Dad had known all along. "Dad knows." She whispered, "He's known all along, and he did nothing to stop this?" Rachael wasn't at the point of seeing this as a good thing. She still saw this as something horrible happening to her family. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Guilt was beginning to flood within Jacob's heart watching his dear sister flounder with how to begin. He watched her struggle with a way to start an unpleasant topic, and was going to help her before she put two and two together. "Yes, dad does know." He sighed and was sometimes angry that their father had known and not warned him. Jake had made promises to a girl he loved, but then was forced to break them due to some stupid family bloodlines. Bloodlines he was proud of. Jake gave Ray a small smile and nodded his head. What could their father have done to protect them? They could have moved, but the vampires would still be here. Bella would be here.
A reassuring smile, and Jake launched into a quick answer. "It isn't dad's fault, his father used to transform as well, you know?" Jacob looked down, "Ray, there is more in this world than we could ever know. We wolves come around to protect La Push. . . We ONLY come around when our enemy is here and our bloodlines take over." She knew the story, but how much of it did she believe. Would she connect the cold ones in the story to the Cullen's. The vampires. [/blockquote]

"Bloodline." Rachael repeated slowly, feeling rather shocked that was how this worked. Bloodlines? She knew bloodlines were important to the elders sometimes, and that with American law the true the bloodline the quicker you could get housing on the reservation. She had not however, ever imagined her bloodline was so cursed. She thought of the children she had always wanted and felt fear for them. She was in a mild shock and almost didn't hear something Jacob didn't say. It was in this tone however, in his face. It took her a few seconds to see what she normally would have noticed instantly. Jacob was proud. Rachael wondered how he could be proud of this?
"What could be so bad that the world would nee--" She looked down at the floor for a moment. "I can't even say it." She whispered. She turned her palms up and looked down at her palms before looking back at Jacob. "I'm not being very good at this." She tired to give him a smile but it looked less then hopeful. "Paul didn't tell me much, but I think he planned to." Rachael did not know that Jacob already knew everything. "We went walking the last night I was in La Push and. . . . He was going to show me." She gave a real smile them, seeming to find something funny in Paul's showing, her voice was just a whisper as if she was talking more to her self rather then telling Jacob. "Silly Paul, he was never one to use words when he could use actions instead." Rachael left out the part where she panic and ran from him, and had somehow got between a mama bear and her cub. Paul had protected her, and the had managed to get out with out a fight, but it had only caused her to run faster from Paul.
Rachael had a scary thought then. She always ran. When things got to hard, to scary, she left rather then deal with it. When her home life got hard, she ran to school. When Paul showed her something scary happening to him, she ran away. When Jacob needed her most, she had been hiding from her family. Rachael Lana Black was a coward at heart. "I left him and got straight into my car and ran away, but I am back and I am not going to run anymore.-" At lest she hoped she had the courage "-What is so evil that the world needs teenage boys to turn into wolves bigger then my car to protect it?" There, Rachael had finally said it. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Ray was beautiful, in many ways. More than anything though she was Jacob's sister, she resembled his mother, some one he had so few memories about, and she was his family. She was a Black. And Jacob couldn't help but thank the lords that they hadn't changed Ray into what he was. That she did not face the same fate that Leah Clearwater was forced to bare on a daily bases. Ray had been through to much. The whole Black family had been through too much. Even with that knowledge though, Jacob was proud of his heritage. He himself never wanted to accept the position of Alpha, but he was Beta, and it was HIS rightful place to be Alpha. His family was a pack of protectors. That WAS something to be proud of.
A smile smile spread across his lip as Ray fought with her fear and overcame it. Sure she had run before, they all had. Even Jake, but they both came back. Ready to face the worst possible thing the world could throw at them. Now Ray was seeking answers. She wanted to know what was so horrible. Who was he to deny her this knowledge. The way she had phrased it though lightened the mood, and he laughed. It took him a could seconds to compose himself enough before he could answer her. Her drew in a deep breath and grabbed his sisters arm, just for extra support. "Where there is wolves, there is bound to be vampires." Jake sighed and feared she might not completely believe him so he referred back to the old legends. "Or the Cold Ones." Now Jake wasn't so cheerful, but he knew that this was necessary. That she needed this, both for her sake and need he think it. . . Paul's. [/blockquote]

Rachael stared at him blankly for a long moment before closing her eyes tightly. Suddenly she had awful mental images off all the Hollywood movies if werewolves fighting vampires. The fights were always graphic and intense, and always ended up with one said dead. They were real too?! Was everything from the old stories real!? Rachael though back to the ones she could recall. There was a battle or something, the old leader's sons had died or something. Allot of the tribe had died.
Rachael opened her eyes and looked up at Jacob. There was fear there, fear for Jacob and Paul rather then her self. Rachael wanted to beg all of them to go to her apartment in the city and away from here if vampires were near by. But Rachael had had a conversation with Paul, not long ago. Paul had asked her if she could stay in La push forever, with him. She had tired, gently, to talk him into a bigger city, but Paul loved it here. At the time, she though it was love of the town, and the freedom. Now she knew it was something else. Wolves hunted in packs, here was Paul's pack. "You have to fight them?" Before he saw the fear in her eyes her could smell it, and he instantly wished he could take his words back. But Jacob knew better than that. This was something that they all needed. She was inclined to know the trust. She was imprinted to another. The knowledge came with the undying love of a wolf. Still though his brave sister pushed on and she was willing to learn more. She was still asking questions. "It is not as often as you would think sis." Since becoming a wolf he had only encountered the 'bad' vampires a select few times and each time had been. . . well. . . fun.
Telling Ray that piece of information though was not in the agenda for tonight, so instead he bent the truth, slightly. "Not many red-eyed vampires come around here sis, the Cullen's protect there territory for the most part, and they stay off of our land." With the mention of the Cullen's Jake cringed as his mind thought back to Bella, but he let it pass. Both the memory of her and the pain for her absences. Of her reject. This was a topic for a later date with his sister. One he wouldn't mind having. . . with her. [/blockquote]

Red-Eye? CULLENS?!!? Rachael's mouth hung open for a moment before she could shut it. She thought of the wedding she had missed. Rachael had come home about the same time as Jacob had come back after he 'ran away'. They both had shown up on the day everyone was talking about a wedding between the Swan girl, and the Cullen boy. Rachael had known Bella as a kid. Their Dads were best friends-had been, still were-and every time they were hunting or fishing with Harry Clearwater then Bella would be stuck playing with Rachael and Rebecca. Bella had some temper fits and that had stopped shortly after.
She had also heard the stories of Jacob and Bella. Just rumors. She had thought that Jacob had lost the girl and she married another small town boy. Now she knew more. Knew how betrayed Jacob must have felt. What did one say when faced with all this? "Jacob I--I-I. . ." She gave a soft, nervous, and emotion filled laugh that almost sounded like crying. "I should have stayed. I should have stayed and tried to keep all this from happening to you." [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))
