Demetri loved his job. After many, many, many years of roaming the earth alone, using his special gift to impress no one but himself, he had finally found a purpose. Being part of the Volturi had given him status, prestige, and a high ranking in the vampire world . . . and it was all because of what he could do, and how much he exceeded in it. The leaders of the Volturi had been impressed and though this was the first time he has ever taken orders from someone, he did not mind at all. He did not see it as degrading, because he was getting all that he wanted in return. He may not hold the highest ranking in the Volturi, but compared to all the other vampires in the world, he was much higher than them -- or so that is how he regarded himself. Not to mention the fact that he perceived himself as the world's best tracker, and he knew that his reputation was spreading.
His latest order was from Aro, and it was to bring a vampire named Maria to him. He had only seen Maria once before, but had never conversed with her. He did not ask why Aro wanted her to come to him, and Demetri was fine with not knowing. It was not his place to question orders; just to carry them through and this system was quite alright with him. Texas was not large, and so it was quite easy to track the exact location of the vampire. He would easily catch her scent, or further use her ability to pin point the exact location of where she was. Demetri decided to stop for a little snack however, before proceeding on wards.
It did not take long for the smell of human blood to consume his senses, and since it was the middle of the night -- the best time for a vampire to travel and dine -- Demetri went for it. It was a group of three, wandering around . . . foolish humans. Their trip would be cut short, and Demetri wasted no time and lunged for them, quickly killing and draining each one as the warm, red, thick, liquid soothed his burning throat.

Maria was not out hunting. No. She was well feed and lounging on a bed in a large house, that had sued to house eight people. Some where family and the rest had been a staff of maids and a butler. They were all dead now, which was why Maria was well feed.
She could smell another vampire not far, and the faint hint of blood in the air but did not worry her self over it. She was not near any large city, and if they came loser (and the smell got stronger) then she would concern her self over the visitor. As it was, for the moment, she was enjoying her feeling of being full, and being proud of her self. For right now, her army was out taking over her city. Oh she would not be there, she did not want her name nor face in anyone's mind, but soon she would enter her city as it's queen!

Demetri knew he could not waste all that much time. He needed to complete his task, so that he would be regarded as efficient, for his gift enabled him to be so and Demetri would not let anyone forget it. He followed the scent, since he had already narrowed it down to this vicinity, and he found himself in front of a house . . . a rather massive house. Did she reside here? No. He could smell humans . . . void of blood no doubt if the vampire was still here. He opened the door, not knocking, but making his own entrance. He was hardly distracted as he walked through the large, elaborate hallways, making his way up the stairs where he could feel Maria`s presence.
He opened the doors to a very large room -- the master bedroom no doubt -- and barley looked at the lifeless, bloodless bodies scattered on the ground. His eyes rested on the vampire, who looked all too comfortable on the huge bed. She, as other vampires, was exquisite. Her hint of a tan despite her pale, fair skin demonstrated her ethnic background, as did her natural dark hair. Her burning red eyes, much like his, showed the satisfaction she must have felt after her very large, no doubt filling meal.
"Maria," he greeted, not bowing his head in respect, but just looked at her. He folded his hands behind him and stood very straight, very still. "I am Demetri of the Volturi guard. Aro has requested your presence and so I am here to escort you to Volterra." He did not waste any time with petty introductions. He cut to the chase . . . so to speak.
