Well now that, that was over. Renesmee and Jasper could go off and forget about Maria. She was gone and done with. Renesmee never had to see Maria again, she never had to hurt by her. Jasper had somehow managed to get them away from Maria. Still to this hour, she did not know how they had gotten away, but they did. Jasper was a wonderful escape artist. He had to be, to get himself and Renesmee away from such an evil little person. Renesmee made a mental note to make sure to tell her parents how Jasper had saved her. She would get him something nice. Or she would try. She would have to talk to Alice first, make sure she does not kill her little plain. If only she had a job, or could get one for that matter. That way she could have her own money to spend on a gift for Jasper. It felt like cheating to get Jasper something with her parents money. But then again she is only 7 years old. No 7 year old is legally aloud to get a job, so she still had a few more years until she could even think about a job, not like she would EVER need one!
Renesmee let out a long sigh as Jasper and Renesmee walked outside of the ball. She had some questions she wanted to ask, and he was the only one with answers. Well him and Maria, but she did not trust the girl, nor did she like her. So Jasper would answer her questions. She loved her Uncle Jay anyway. "Uncle Jay?" Renesmee asked looking down at her feet as they came to a stop outside the large building. No one was out here, everyone was still inside partying it up, so Jasper and Renesmee were 100% alone. Not a single person, or vampire in sight, or hearing range. At least that's what Renesmee thought. "Who is?.... How do?...Why do you?...When did you?..."Renesmee struggled with her words. She wanted to ask so many questions about Maria, but then again she was frighten of the answers. "Who is Maria." Renesmee was finally able to ask. Though Renesmee got the question out, only a vampire would have been able to pick up her whisper. Her eyes still staring down at her feet... just waiting for his answer.

Maria was far enough back that her scent nor emotions would not be felt. Jasper nor his little half breed would know she was over hearing. Sound carried in this area, and it make it easy. She could seen them, slightly too, so make sure to stay deadly still in order to not draw attention to her self and give away that she waited for Jasper to answer. . . . Yes Jasper, tell the little wonder pet what I made you to be, and who the short little freak broke you and make you heel.

Jasper led Renesmee outside of the building. After her unfortunate encounter with Maria, she had many questions and Jasper could feel all of the curiousity from her. Of course, it did not require power to be able to tell how curious and confused she was regarding Maria. It was obvious in the way she was having trouble organizing her thoughts and questions, and Jasper could not blame her. Maria always left on an impression on anyone she spoke with, whether it be for five minutes, or twenty seconds.
Who is Maria.
Where to start. It was such a big question, and he wished he could have kept Renesmee sheltered from his past for a little long, but now it was time to tell her . . . just as he had told everyone else. He would just have to tell it with extreme caution for he had already edited it for Bella; he needed to edit it for his young niece as well. She did not need to hear any of the gory details.
He needed to start with an apology, because it was of course his fault that Maria had expressed the slightest interest in Renesmee. "I apologize for her approaching and conversing you in such a way that made you feel uncomfortable." What next? "Renesmee, there is a lot about my past that I have kept you sheltered from, for it is something I am not proud of. But I believe the time has come where you need to hear about it. Maria was the vampire who transformed me into one." He hated telling her about how some vampires turned others to benefit themselves, unlike Carlisle who only did it when there was no alternative to life for the victim. Jasper was going to explain this slowly, so that he would not overwhelm her, and so that she could ask any questions she had.

His apologizing just made her that much more confused. "No no Jasper. Don't apologies for her! It's not your fault she's.... uggh..." Renesmee said not really knowing what to fill that with. What was Maria? That was the question of the year. "Oh..." Renesmee said confuesing growing. "Well.... I should thank her for that..." Renesmee said with a smile, though she knew the smile would not last long. She knew a frighting thing was about to be said. She may not want to hear it, but she knew she needed to know. Her confuesing quickly turned into worry. She did not care anymore, she just wanted to make sure Jasper was alright. Her worry grew with each second. No really, she did not care. Though she had such little information, she was smart an a little piece to Jasper's puzzle came together. "Did... did she.... give you...all these scars?" Renesmee asked a little shocked, running her hand over Jasper's arm. She never really thought twice about it, she just thought Jasper was 'born' like that or something. She never really cared how he got them, she just loved him, and that's all that mattered to her. But Jasper did not have a great past, and theses scars were proof of it. and somehow, Maria was behind it. This of course made Renesmee a little mad. If only she was as strong as a newborn vampire, yet as smart as Jasper, then she could teach Maria a lesson. Just maybe. Then again, She owed Maria a lot. She loved Jasper, and with out her, Jasper would have died many, many years ago. ((OOC::All credit goes to Leah+Rose from MP for making my posting layout. Icons taken from Google.))

Jasper knew it was his fault, no matter how much his niece tried to reassure him of otherwise. Jasper gave the slightest hint of a smile, his way of expressing his gratitude to her comment. If he had had a more peaceful transformation, and not had been surrounded by an army led by a ruthless leader, he would have been a bit more grateful to Maria for turning him, which had led him to find Alice. But every stream of events had consequences and Jasper was thankful that after so many years of slaughter, he had finally found peace. It was well worth the wait.
He followed her gaze to his arm. The scars. "No, she did not. The main scar she gave me was the one it took to transform me." Jasper would have to keep his voice low when explaining the story. He could not risk any of the Volturi hearing him. "Renesmee, do you want to hear it from the beginning, or would you just prefer to hear answers to questions that you seek the most?" He would do either, or both for her. She deserved to know now, after having dealt with Maria.

Maria staid very still, and smiled. She had given him a few of the scars. Her hand reached up to touch the scar on her shoulder, and her smile faded. He had returned the favor. Gr! She waited as the half breed ask questions and Jasper reprimanded her, by asking her if she wanted to keep interrupting or just hear him tell the damn tale. Maria wanted to hear it from him, she the half breed needed to do more silent listening and less talking.

"What?" Renesmee said a little confused. Okay, so Maria did not give him the scars... okay... then what the hell happened to her uncle!!"Then...then who?" She began but stomped herself. She had questions, she did. But she was sure it was best to hear the whole story. "I.... I don't know what I want..... I guess just tell me from the beginning..." Renesmee said a little worry line creasing her forehead. Renesmee still looked at Jasper's arms. Trying to count the endless scars he wore. though she tired her half vampire eyes had a hard time figuring out when one scar ended and the next one began. Renesmee could not even begin to imagine what Jasper had to go through to get all those. And though the worry still strong, she felt kinda bad for him, and a strong hatred towards Maria, whom had a big part in all this..... Jasper was not sure how Renesmee would react to all this. Anger at him for keeping this from her for so long? Fear and disapproval for what he had done? At least this would explain why he was the weakest out of them all. If she hated him for this, or she remained the same towards him, Jasper would accepted her reaction for his past was not something he was proud of, or boasted about. He looked down for a moment before locking eyes with his niece once again. He had better start from the beginning.
"When I was human, I lived in Houston, Texas. I had joined the Confederate army when I was extremely young, almost seventeen years old. I told them I was twenty however so that they would permit me to enlist. My height allowed me to make this fib believable." If only Jasper's harm had been a lie. But no, it was so much more than that. "My father always said that I had a certain charisma about me and it was this that allowed me to move quickly through the ranks. People often listened to me and I was promoted rather rapidly, even over others who were older and more experienced than me. By the first battle of Gavelston in 1863, I was the youngest major in Texas." He paused. He was going to break down this story into parts so that it was not overwhelming his dear niece, and it also allowed her to ask any questions she may have.

Renesmee listens with a creased brow. Thinking, listing, taking in every single little detail. So far, he lied about his age to get into the Army. Though the lieing part was... not so nice, he was still noble. She could admire her uncle for that. He wanted to help people, he wanted to lead, fight for what he thought was right. That made her happy. Though she knew the story would turn dark as soon as Maria showed up in the story. but Renesmee could handle it. Her uncle Jasper would keep her safe. She always knew Jasper would protect her -little did she know Jasper was no on her side when Renesmee was inside Bella-. "I can see why you moved up so fast..." Renesmee said with a soft smile. "You are really good at protecting people!" Renesmee said with a bit of a giggle, putting an hand on her uncles upper arm, in a loving kind of way. Just showing him that she really did care for him, and that she trusted him with her life, and well no matter what he did in the past, did not matter. He was still her uncle, and she'd still love him, no matter how many peopled died at his hand. That was all she did, she let her hand fall from his arm, letting him continue. She did not have many questions, at least not now. She just wanted to know what happened, and so far, it was fair, Jasper was just doing what he felt right. It worked. She understood joining the army, she understood having to lie. Shoot Renesmee lied every single day. She had to pretend she was human. She had to act human, and acting is just a big lie anyway...right?

Jasper gave a bit of a sad smile at her comment. She thought he was good at protecting people. He wondered how skewed her image of him would soon become. Would she love him less? Would she be afraid of him? He could not stop now. And so, trying to hide any expression or emotion he felt when telling his story, he continued. "It was at the Battle of Galveston that I was placed in charge of evacuating the women and children from the city when the Union's mortar boats reached the harbor. It took one to prepare them, and them, and then I left with the first group of civilians to convey them to Houston."
Though it had been many years ago, Jasper remembered that night perfectly. That night he had met Maria . . . and his life was forever changed. "We reached the city after dark, and I stayed only long enough to make sure the entire party was safely situated. Once that was done, I got myself a fresh horse and I headed back to Galveston for there was no time to rest. It was just about a mile outside the city when I came across three women on foot. I assumed they were stragglers and so dismounted at once to offer them my aid. But when I could see their faces in the dim light of the moon, I was completely stunned into silence. They were, without question, the three most beautiful women I had ever seen." Once again he paused, thinking about how much he had misunderstood those women at that time.
"They had such pale skin. I remember marveling at it. Even the little black haired young women, whose features were clearly Mexican, was porcelain in the moonlight. They seemed young, all of them, and I knew they were not lost members of our party for I would have remembered seeing these three."

The story went on. Renesmee took note of his sadden face, but continued to listen. She knew by the look on his face that Renesmee would soon think differently of her uncle. She knew that's what he was thinking and it hurt a little. She did not want to think of her uncle as a monster because he was anything but. He was the nicest sweetest most genuine person like EVER! She really would love him no matter what he did. No matter how many people he killed, no matter how crazy he was in his past. All that mattered was that he over came that, and was a good person now.
Most beautiful women he'd ever seen? They had to of been Vampiers. This would not end well. Renesmee's smile was slowly beginning to leave her pale face. She was suddenly frighten for her uncle. What had he gone through? She looked sadden, and her face became slightly more pale then normal. Her rosy red cheeks were not as red, more dull. She was worried. She loved her Uncle so much, and though she wanted to know his story, it was not a very nice story so far. Her heart ached for her uncle and all she wanted to do was take the pain away. Take the pain he'd felt away forever. It must be so hard to live with that memory. She hoped that in time he'd forget his past, and only remember his time with the Alice and the rest of the Cullen's. She knew this would never happen, but still. She could hope right.

Maria kept very still, waiting for Jasper who was being just as dramatic as always to slowly build up the story. She glanced over behind her to make sure that the Volturi were still out of ear shot. The last things she needed was Aro learning that from Jasper's little half breed brat. Maria's eyes slowly turned back as Jasper got to where he had first seen her. She smiled still able to see his shocked face at seeing her. He had been such a little innocent in his almost virgin like ways. He thought he had known about the world but oh, little did her know.
Maria debated entering and telling her own side of the story but wanted to know more about how Jasper saw this. Who knew, it might help her later on to know what he liked from her. She would have chuckled at that but knew it would give her away.

Jasper could feel Renesmee's mood dropping. But he did not stop. He had to tell this from start to finish so that she would know the truth about him. The judgment he feared was not unusual for every time he told the story of his past, he was faced with the same fear. "I remember the conversation, as if it was just spoken to me yesterday," he said, his mind wandering back to it as if he was lost in his past, staring absently at no one, not even making eye contact with Nessie. "He's speechless the tallest girl said in a lovely, delicate voice. It was like wind chimes. She had fair hair, and her skin was snow white. The other was blonder still, her skin was just as chalky and pale. Her face was like an angel's. She leaned toward me with half-closed eyes and inhaled deeply.
Mmm She sighed Lovely.. The small one, the tiny brunette, put her hand on the girl's arm and spoke quickly. Her voice was too soft and musical to be sharp, but that seemed to be the way she intended it. Concentrate, Nettie she had said. I had always had a good sense of how people related to each other, and it was immediately clear to me that the brunette was somehow in charge of the others. if they'd been military, I would have said that she outranked them.
They continued speaking. He looks right -- Young, strong, an officer . . . The brunette paused, and I tried unsuccessfully to speak. And there's something more . . . do you sense it? She asked the other two. He's . . . compelling.." Jasper paused, but only for a moment. "Nettie quickly agreed, as she had leaned toward me once again. Patience the brunette said, her tone was that of caution. I want to keep this one. Nettie frowned. She seemed annoyed by the brunette's remark. You'd better do it, Maria the taller blond spoke again. If he's important to you. I kill them twice as often as I keep them." Jasper had now come to the point of using her name in relation to the descriptions he had previously given.
Yes, I'll do it Maria agreed. I really do like this one. Take Nettie away, will you? I don't want to have to protect my back while I'm trying to focus." Jasper stopped, knowing he would have to leave out some details of the gory history that was coming. For now, he paused to give Renesmee a moment before he overwhelmed her with what had yet to come.

Renesmee was totally absorbed in his story. If Maria were to come up behind her and hit her over the head, Renesmee would probably not notice, or think it a fly. The story was compelling, she had to know how this ended, how this started. Renesmee made sure that every ounce of attention she had, was all on Jasper. Her ears open wide, her eyes locked with his, as he looked off into space. She was even leaning forward in an unnatural way. She knew she had to know this story, and she did not wish for Jasper to retell it, so she had better get it all the first time. So she stood there not breathing, accept when completely necessary, which was about 2 breaths a minute, if that. She did not need as much air as a Human, yet she still needed some. She could hold her breath for much longer then a human, yet still, she needed air just as much as they did. He stopped just before the change. She knew it was a painful process, and knew it was never very pretty, but still. What had Maria done to her Uncle? It had to be more horrible then anything in the world, She did not want to think upon it, yet she knew that she'd find out at one point in time. she had to. She'd need to know. Of course she does not have to know every little tinny detail, but it helped. That way there was no question, no nothing. Renesmee would know just as much as anyone in her family, that was only fair after all. Of course she was special and needed to be protected, but she was not 6 anymore. She could handle a little.... gore. Of course she might cry, but she was weak when it came to her family. If Jasper was hurt she'd feel his pain no matter how dull it's become over the last years.

After getting a feel for Renesmee's emotions, Jasper continued, wishing he could ease her worry, but decided against it. "My hair was standing up on the back of my neck, though I didn't understand the meaning of anything the beautiful creatures were saying. My instincts told me that there was danger, that the angel had meant it when she spoke of killing, but my judgment overruled my instincts. I had not been taught to fear women, but to protect them." Jasper briefly considered the long list of women he had killed . . . for selfish purposes.
"Lets hunt Nettie agreed enthusiastically, reaching for the tall girl's hand/. They wheeled -- they were so graceful! -- and sprinted toward the city. They seemed to almost take flight, they were so fast -- their white dresses blew out behind them like wings. I blinked in amazement and they were gone. I turned to stare at Maria, who was watching me curiously. I'd never been superstitious in my life. Until that second. I never believed in ghosts or any other such non-sense. Suddenly, I was unsure.
What is your name soldier? Maria asked me.
Major Jasper Whitlock, ma'am," I stammered, unable to be impolite to a female, even if she was a ghost.
I truly hope you survive Jasper she said in her gentle voice. I have a good feeling about you.
She took a step closer, and inclined her heard as if she were going to kiss me. I stood frozen in place, though my instincts were screaming at me to run." Jasper paused. He was certainly not going to describe what the next few days had been like. The transformation had been excruciating, as it always was, and he was going to spare his niece of the details pertaining to that.
"A few days later, I was introduced to my new life. Their names were Maria, Nettie and Lucy. They had not been together long -- Maria had rounded up the other two -- all three were survivors of recently lost battles. Theirs was a partnership of convenience. Maria wanted revenge, and she wanted her territories back for there was war breaking out in the South, and the Volturi were forced to intervene. Upon their departure, there were many covens within Southern Mexico who were displeased as their loss of power and land, so they continued to build armies . . . armies of new born vampires." Jasper was not going to go into the details of the history. He wanted this story of his past to be over with, though he was not try to rush it.
"The others were eager to increase their . . . herd lands, I suppose you could say. They were putting together an army, and going about it more carefully than usual. It was Maria's idea. She wanted a superior army, so she sought out specific humans who had potential. Then she gave us much more attention, more training than anyone else had bothered with. She taught us to fight, and she taught us to be invisible to the humans. When we did well, we were rewarded . . . " Jasper -- once again -- was going to skip over what those rewards entailed.
"She was in a hurry though. Maria knew that the massive strength of the newborns began to wane around the year mark, and she wanted to act while we were still strong. There were six of us when I joined Maria's band. She added four more within a fortnight. We were all male -- Maria wanted soldiers -- and that made it slightly more difficult to keep from fighting amongst ourselves. I fought my first battles against my new comrades in arms. I was quicker than the others, better at combat. Maria was pleased with me, though put out that she had to keep replacing the ones I destroyed. I was rewarded often, and that made me stronger."

Renesmee had been looking right at her Uncle the whole time, not breaking that eye contact. In fact she was not really thinking, just feeling, just listing. She making room in her large head for every tinny detail. Even as he spoke she took in his body language, his tone, how he looked at her, everything she absorbed like a sponge. Until he got to the part where he was to be transformed. He paused and she looked away from her Uncle shuttering slightly at the though. She was only glad she did not have to go through just a horrid thing. She wished that on no one. Her parents had always told her it was not that bad. Her mother told her that Renesmee was the only person that kept her going through the transformation. But still. She knew they were only trying to protect her. She wanted the truth so she asked another person in the family to tell her just what it was like. And it was bad!
When he spoke again Renesmee looked back on to her Uncle. Again not wanting to miss a thing. The though on transformation was pushed from her mind, it was once more clear to absorb. He got to the point in his history. He'd be rewarded? What did that mean? Renesmee got a chill up her back, and at once wished for Jacob to hold her. His warmth was what she wanted right now. But he was back in Forks and she was nowhere near there. She let out a sigh, making a mental note to ask him about that later, much later. No need to think about that now. Stronger. She though for just a second that her uncle was under some kind of spell. He kinda was, Maria had a way about her. Though frightening she had a way. Renesmee saw that, she was not stupid. She knew Maria could make anyone bend to her will with a simple look. Maybe that was her gift. Then again she knew better. Renesmee said nothing just waited for him to continue. She wanted to get this over with get to the happy. Her face was already as pale as it's ever been, she was already shaking slightly from her thoughts. Though she knew the story was not even bad yet. Maybe she was just thinking ahead. Who knew why she was so nervous. His story just freak her out, if she were human she would have been drenched in sweat. Too bad she's not all human. Or maybe... maybe the reason she was so freaked out was becasue Maria was watching from afar, unknown by anyone. Maybe Renesmee felt this, felt herself being watched, but maybe she was just reading it all wrong.

Renesmee was realy wrapped up in the story. She just stood there staring at her Uncle, as if she's never seen him before. She was confused. She was expecting a lot more from his transformation. Oh course he was most likely hiding some of the more... graphic parts which she was grateful. But still she hoped he had not sugar coated anytihng. When her Uncle spoke of leaning in as if she was going to kiss him, Renesmee turned her head away from her Uncle. She felt like she was going to blush at that simple statement. she felt silly as her cheeks grew slightly red, as she looked off into the distance. She was not sure why she was blushing, it was just a 'kiss' but she figured she was blushing at what was to come. Did she know anything about what was to come, no, but she figured there had to be some kind of relationship there. Maria sure did seem to love her Uncle.... For more then one reason at that.
As Renesmee looked off into the distance, she let her eyes wonder, searching. What she was searching for she was not sure, she just got a weird feeling. She had some felling like she was being watched, being hunted almost, and it was freaking her out a little. Though she held this horrid feeling she still listen to Jasper, every inch of her brain held onto Jasper's story, Where as her eyes just watched, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Her arms crossed her stomach, holding herself together, like her mother used to do. It was second nature to Renesmee to hold herself like that when she felt out of place, or embarrassed. She figured now that her blushing had nothing to do with her Uncles story, but rather with the feeling of being watched, being hunted, being overheard.
((I think Maria needs to post soon! haha ))
