Charlotte stared at herself in the mirror, her reflection seemed like a different girl. There were deep bags under her eyes from pure exhausted and lap of a good night's rest. Her skin was paler than normal, a bit unhealthy compared to her normal sunkissed appearing tan. The only thing that had really remained the same was her eyes, but even the had changed a bit seeing as pain killed them. Her hair hadn't been dyed in a good four or five months, and was fading to her natural brown shade, and was pulled back in a sloppy bun. Overall, she looked a complete and utter mess.
The main difference was lower than her face, though. Char's stomach was no longer it's thin, flat self. There was a bump, and having the rest of her be so thin made it look larger than it really was. She had been pregnant for eleven weeks at this point, and for eight of them she had felt like she had been dead. She was constantly locked away in her bathroom, but not a soul knew that she was pregnant other than her doctor. She was changing that today, the whole reason she was making Embry drag himself over her to her home. She usually visited him, but she didn't have the energy to at this point.
Letting out a shaky breath, Char shut the door to her bathroom. She had pulled her thick, black bathrobe of her loose sweatpants and old, ratty t-shirt. She sat down on the couch, which had pretty much been her bed for the past few weeks. She was scared as to what Embry might say, though terrified could be the more appropriate word. She had absolutely freaked out when her doctor told her she was pregnant, she couldn't imagine herself as a mother in some of her wildest dreams. She was scared that she was going to mess up to a point where she nearly couldn't breathe at the thought.

Embry was worried sick for the past couple of weeks; Charlotte was ill and he was pretty busy with wolf stuff so it was hard to see her. He wished he could have stayed with her every waking hour, to watch over her and take care of her. She was so important to him, he would do anything to make her better. Today Charlotte had called to ask him to come over to her place. He rarely went to her place but judging by the sound of her voice over the phone, Emb knew she was in no condition to be driving out to La Push.
Throwing some pants on in a rush after phasing, Embry ran as fast as a human could all the way to her front door. Once he got there he didn't even bother knocking, Embry opened the door and let himself in before closing it behind him. "Char?" He called out, already walking around to find her. It didn't take long before he did. Emb quickly went to her and held her in a gentle, comforting embrace. His lips pressed against her forhead instantly, kissing her for a minute. It killed him that she was so sick. He pulled his face back to look at hers, her brought his hands to her face and held it inbetween them. "How are you feeling?" Em examined her facial features. She looked like a complete mess, but it didn't change how he felt for her. One of his thumbs stroked one of the darker parts under her eyes. He knew he couldn't leave her tonight, he wasn't going to. He wanted to stay and take care of her.

Charlotte pulled a blanket over her shaky form, and more importantly over her stomach. She pulled up her legs, her knees forming a forty-five degrees angle. She didn't want him to notice immediately. Normally when she was sick she lost weight, and she was sure that most people did. And she didn't want to risk him knowing that and suspecting it. She heard his voice call out her name, and took a deep breath. Hearing him did calm her nerves a bit, but imagining how he may react certainly did not help to calm her. She knew she couldn't be freaking out as she told him, but she wasn't entirely sure how she should tell him. She didn't want to blurt it straight out, as she couldn't imagine that going right. But she wanted to get it over with, sort of.
"Embry," Char whispered hugging him weakly back. He was glad for the extra warmth, and her shaking ceased almost immediately after that. She relaxed feeling his lips on her forehead, comforted by his presence. "A bit better." The first two weeks of this had been the worst by far, it was how she imagined being hungover. And apparently, from her research, that was what it was like. Which was very encouraging not to drink. She placed one of her hands on his, and slipped her other one under his. Her skin looked ghostly compared to his. "What about you?" She wanted to make sure he was calm as well, not agitated the slightest bit at the smallest thing. If he was calm, that was good. If he wasn't, she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to tell him.

"I'm so much better now that I'm here," he answered honestly. He gave a small chuckle, thinking himself a tad stupid. He had never been so worried in his entire life, but Charlotte was his imprintee and Embry had seen everyone else go through these kinds of things. He held onto her hands, each frail, pale and colder than usual, in his hold. "Hey, I'm going to stay here over night and take care of you and if you need me again after I'll stay as long as you want." Emb told her, his eyes fully serious and intense as they looked into the tired eyes of his love. He wanted her to get well as soon as possible and if necessary he would call up Calisle.

That was certainly good, as it made Embry sound fairly calm in Char's view. So it was safe to tell him, but working up to it was going to be the hard part. "Sit," she said simply. "Somewhere, anywhere." Preferably close by, but she didn't say that outloud. She had a feeling that he was likely to anyway. She pulled away her left hand, pulling her blanket over her tighter to keep her warmer. She adjust her legs, having them as close as possible she she could but keeping her feet on the touch. She didn't want them touching her stomach.
His words where sweet, but Charlotte didn't want to make him knew that. She knew that he was going to get tired eventually, and didn't want to cause him to not get any. She had been sleeping a lot lately, and would probably just bore him to death at this point. "You don't have to, Em. I know what's wrong...I've known what's wrong, for a while now. But it's not going away all too soon." There was the chance that it would go away, but it was one she wasn't going to think about. She just wasn't going down that road.

[blckquote]Embry did as she wished, he stood up properly and sat down next to her. He shook his head. "Char, I am not leaving you alone tonight." He spoke softly, his eyes serious. "I am not going to get bored, I am not going to get tired of you." Emb knew Charlotte was going to contradict him. He watched her shift and ajusted the blanket she had around her fraile little body. He observed her intensely feeling great pain as he watched her face, how pale she looked.
His eyebrow raised when she said she knew what was wrong with her. "You've known for a while and you haven't told me yet?" Embry tried his best to make that sound calm, he was a little upset but he couldn't be at her. [/blockquote]

"You can, though, because eventually you'll get bored. That or you'll fall asleep. I can take care of myself if you do. I'm a big girl." And Char was soon going to be a lot bigger than her current state. But her snappy tone pretty much said it all, but that was more the lack of sleep and hormone level changes more than anything else. It was annoying as heck for her, and she was just tired of it at this point. She was all so sure to annoy others by this point, without a doubt.
Embry's question made Charlotte look away from him, practically burying her head into the pillow though she was careful not to flip over completely. A few silent tears fell, though that once again was just being so unbalanced. "I know...I know, I'm a bad person." Perhaps she was being way too oversensitive about the whole thing. But she couldn't help it. "I didn't want you to know. But I figured you'd either realize it sooner or later, or drag me off to some doctor." She didn't want to be forced into telling him, but knew she had to.

"Hey, you're not a bad person, Chalotte," She was a terrific person. Embry watched her tip to her side and burry herself into the pillow, reaching his hand out, he gently rubbed her back. His highly accued senses allowed him to smell the salty scent of tears. Emb didn't want her to cry, it was painful. His brows almost met, "Why didn't you want to tell me? What's wrong?" Was it... the worst? Was she going to ...die? The idea was quickly bannished from his thoughts.

"Yes I am," Charlotte mumbled. He rubbing her back was comforting, but it couldn't really stop the tears. She knew she had to take control of herself, but she let her darkened hair fall into her face. It was nearly an entirely natural color at this point, and curly as hell. But she wanted it in her face, it hid her from the rest of the world as far as she felt. She knew it was still there, as much as she really wanted it to just go away sometimes.
"Nothing's wrong...sort of. It's not bad, well I don't think it is. I hope you don't think it is. Some people might, but I'm trying to stay positive about it." It was hard as well to remain preppy and optimistic about it, and the last week had been insanely hard. Morning sickness had really gotten to her, but she hoped that next week it would be better. If not she was going to absolutely loose her mind just about, it was driving her crazy enough as it is.

He tried, tried so very hard not to get mad nor upset and he was doing good right now. It was a little frustrating that she was dancing around the point. What was wrong with her, health wise? Why was she torturing him by not tell him what she had? It wasn't enough to see her like this -- her hair back to brown and wildly unkept, her eyes tried and deeply shadowed, her face pale and slightly green -- but she had to toy with him a little more...
Embry sighed deeply looking around the room quickly before resuming his gaze towards his imprintee. "Char, who can something that could be a good thing make you this sick?" Embry really had no clue, the true reason never crossed his mind. "Could you please, just tell me what's going on to you?" Calm and pleeding, he asked her for the truth. "I can take it, you know?" She should tell him, he knew that much.

At this point it seemed pretty obvious that he had absolutely no idea what Char meant. She didn't know what he could be thinking, though, which scared her. "I'm not dying, if that's what you think." That was easier to say then what was actually going on. She didn't like it when people begged her to do anything, it almost always caused her to give in after a moment. But this made it easier to give in, knowing that she had to tell him soon anyway. Hesitantly, she slowly made her way to her feet. She ran a hand through her tangled hair, before untying her bathrobe. She slid it off, letting it drop to the ground to show the bump where it was normally extremely flat thanks to her being so thin. "I'm pregnant,"

Embry froze. His eyes wide in sudden shock. Pregnant? She was pregnant?! They had only slept together once. Could if be his? Was it his? Obviously it was, he knew Charlotte wouldn't be cheating on him. Embry opened his mouth and nothing came out for a good minute. "...wow." He was speechless. Emb sighed and ran his hands through his hair while he leaned back on the couch for a moment. He looked at her stomach, noticing the bump. He had so many things going through his mind and at the same time nothing, all he knew was that he should be supportive.
Embry stood up slowly and looked over Charlotte again. "...that's great news." His voice wasn't very enthusiastic because of his state of shock. He took her face into his hands and watched her face before pressing his lips to her forehead for a moment then held her close, yet gently, in his arms.

Char had so many things running threw her mind as he didn't speak, and it was giving her a heck of a headache. Was her mad? Did he hate her? The second question was a bit of of question, but she had been a bit irrational. Her eyebrows furrowed, not sure how he was going to react or if he was just going to remain frozen in shock the whole time. But he didn't look happy, as far as she could tell, which worried her severely. She was seriously out of wack, and his state of shock wasn't helping.
Charlotte practically collapsed into him, tears starting to flow down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She murmured, hating herself. "I should have been on the pill, this shouldn't have happened...I'm sorry..." Her words rambled and stuck together a bit as well, almost coming out all as one word. She was frustrated beyond belief. If Em had reacted that way, she was sure that her mom was going to absolutely kill her. Especially after what had happened with her. This just didn't seem like it was going to work at all in her mind.

Embry caught her as she collapsed into his chest and started to cry. He didn't get it. He had just told her that it was great news... Had his tone upset her, or made her believe that he really didn't want this? Emb shook his head as he rubbed her back and listened to her appolagize. He pulled away and bent down to kiss her deeply, both of his hands on her cheeks again. Under his palms he felt the lightly warmer than her skin, cold tears. Embry felt stupid for reacting like he had, it had obviously really sent Charlotte over the edge. And he knew that even though while he kept his mouth to hers and she couldn't not express her feelings that she was still thinking them and feeling them. He eventually pulled away and chuckled: "Don't be sorry, it's my fault too," He should have used protection. Sure, they knew that they would be together until they died because of the imprinting it hardly made it acceptable for him to not have been careful. Though, as he recalled, neither of them wanted to be the responsible one that night and they went for it. Now, they were going to have a child together. "I can't wait to be a dad." He added softly. Of course, he was thinking about all the sacrafices, changes and obsticles they would have to overcome. Their lives would be very different. Any other guys would probably have had not wanted that at all, but for some reason, Embry felt it was right. He held no annoyance, no hate... He was happy. He was going to be a daddy!
Embry looked down at Charlotte's stomach, at the bump that stuck out from her usually flat stomach and put his hand on it gently. He looked back up at his imprintee and grinned. He saw no downsides to this.

Charlotte hit him on his bare chest at his chuckle. It wasn't a laughing matter! Perhaps the move was a bit bipolar of her, but she could not care less. How could he be laughing at such a thing?! It just didn't make sense to her. But hardly anything rational probably would at the moment, her thoughts were jumbled. "Don't laugh," she practically hissed at him, her teeth clenched together. She was tense, but that went without saying. Her being stressed was never a good thing, and this was one of the minor outcomes from it.
When Embry mentioned being a dad, Charlotte looked up at him with an almost terrified expression. Not of him being a dad, but of her being a mom. She just wasn't the motherly type, it seemed like an impossibility. It scared her, the thought of being responsible for some else. That she might mess up at the cost of someone else, that it would be her fault. Her mother had managed to do it, be a mother at her age. But her mom had been that type of person, the type of mom who stayed home all day and would have some snack prepared for their kids after school. That was someone she wasn't. That was someone far from her.
A soft sigh escaped her lips, and Char merely placed her hand over Embry's on her stomach. "I don't know what I'm going to do..." She said, looking up at him. She wasn't sure how he managed to be so happy. Then again, he wasn't the one going through major mood swings, headaches, and morning sickness. Still, it was rather lost on her. Yes, she was happy, but it was just getting difficult to show it.

It worried Embry a lot when Charlotte hit him. Yes, it sounded off, but he was rock solid and he always worried she would hurt herself. Sort of like when Bella punched Jacob way back when, she had broken her hand. "I'm sorry, I'll stop!" He was only laughing because he didn't know how else to react and he felt pretty stupid for thinking she was dying. Embry tightened his arms around her a little bit more but still being careful of her. She was even more fragile now than before.
Emb smiled as he felt Charlotte's cool hand rest on his. He frowned at her words. He took his hand off her stomac, grabbing the hand she hand on his, bringing them up under her chin to lift it up before putting their hands back down, but he didn't let go of hers. "You don't wants this, do you?" He asked her, looking into her eyes.

Another sigh came out at Embry's question, and Char pulled her hand out of his grip. She placed it on her back, groaning slightly though it wasn't just from the fact that it did hurt and had been for the past two weeks, but that he had actually asked that. It only annoyed her though, because she wasn't entirely sure how to answer it as she didn't really know it herself. It was all so confusing for her, and at this point she wasn't sure what she was thinking any more.
"I don't know..." The tone that Charlotte used was clearly agitated. "With what happened with my mom and all, the thought of being pregnant just scares me, I guess...even though I know the same thing won't happen, I can't help but think of it." Had she told Embry what happened to her biological father? She wasn't even sure at this point, it was just all a blur in her head practically. She almost never spoke about it and usually just didn't think about it either, so she wouldn't even be surprised if he had no idea what she was speaking of.

Embry was very accepting of this pregnancy, now, but it was slowly wearing off the more he concerned he was for Charlotte. Did she not want a child? Maybe it was something else? "Char, if this is about this kid may become a wolf when he gets older..." He didn't think Charlotte thought that, it would be pretty shallow... he hoped she wasn't doubting the child because of that chance.
"What happened with your mom?" Charlotte didn't talk much about her parents.

Char shook her head at his words. She wasn't quite that selfish. "No, no...that's not it. It's just that I'm going to have no idea what to do, and am bound to mess up in some major way. It's going to be a lot of changes, and what's going to change I am not entirely sure." There was a lot of research that could be done on her part, that was for sure. She did not know where in the world to start, which was what made it so complicated.
"Oh, so I haven't told you?" Charlotte muaed softly to herself. She knew that she would have had to tell him about it sooner or later. Apparently now the choice was sooner. "Emb, my real dad never saw me. He left my mom as soon as he beard that she was pregnant. He doesn't know anything about me, and has basically disappearedd as far as my mom and I know. I can't help but think..." She trailed off, biting down on her lip as a few salty tears trailed down her face.
