Bella smiled to herself as she climbed into her old, red chevy pick up. She knew that ridding one of the motorcycles she just loaded in the back would be the perfect way to hear the sweet sound of his (she wouldn't dare think the name) voice. After that night in Port Angeles, when the danger of the men outside the pub, of that amazing, velvet sound it was all she could think about.
'What was reckless enough to make me hear. . . . him. . . . but not enough to kill me?' Was a question she asked herself over and over. Although, she knew in Charlies mind, ridding a motorcycle was more then enough to kill her.
So that left her with three problems; One, there was no way she could show up at home with two bikes and expect Charlie not to kill her himself-- Two, the things didn't even run. Or they didn't look like thay did anyways; she had no idea how to even start them to find out--Which was her third problem, learning to ride them.
All she needed was a good mechanic and a place to keep them. It was then that she thought of the perfect person. She hurried home while she knew Charlie was still at work and called him for directions.
* * *
"Love you to dad." Bella slammed down the phone and ran back outside to her truck. The directions out to La Push were simple enough for her. When she pulled up to the Blacks house, she sighed as she cut the engine. She knew the thought of. . him. . would come up more then once today.
Last spring Billy bribed Jacob to come to Fork and tell-- not ask, tell-- Bella to break up with her boyfriend. Now he must be beyond thrilled with how things turned out. She sighed again before steping out of the truck and walking over to meet Jacob.
"Hey Jacob!" She said with a wave and half a smile, which to her surprise wasn't forced. All these months shes been compleatly emotionless. Any smile or laugh-- the very few there were, if any, she really couldn't remember-- were all fake.
However, the sight of Jakes smile tugged at the corner of her mouth and even if she tried, she couldn't stop the smirk from taking over her expression.

Jake had been out in the back working on this new (old) truck that his dad bought for him. Okay, so this thing wasn't brand new, it had come from a old car sale. It was an old F150. And boy, did it need a bunch of work on it. So far, Jake had been working on it for at least a wee or two. So far, he had fixed the transmission and other basic stuff. Once he had it up and running, the engine had failed on him. So, that's where he was now. When Jake heard his name being called, he came around the back from the garage and walked out front. That's when he saw Bella.
Even standing next to her truck, she still looked beautiful. Now that Edward is finally gone, maybe I can get a little bit closer to Bella, and maybe it will lead to something. Jake thought to himself. When Bella said 'Hey Jake', his smile only got wider. So, he walked up to her. His smile got bigger with every foot nearer to her. When he got with-in a foot or two, he opened up his arms to give her a hug. "It's great to see you finally Bella" Jake said giving her a hug. Only there was one problem. When he had been walking over to her, he thought he saw a look of smugness. But, he ignored that for right now.

Bellas smile got even wider as she wrapped an arm around him (a bit awkwardly) for a hug. When she felt his body she pulled away and looked him up and down. "Jacob. . Either I'm srinking or you've gotten alot bigger since the last time I saw you." She chuckled as she waved to Billy, who was now in the window.
Bella chuckled again.. "Well it has been a while." She thought back to the first time she saw him when she moved back to Forks last year. Him and Billy had been at her house visiting. . The same day they gave her the old truck. Her smile faded as she thought about the last time she seen him. .
It was last spring when. . . . he. . . forced Bella to go to prom and Jacob had shown up with a message from his father. The memory sent a shudder down her spine but as she looked back up at Jacob, the corners of her mouth automatically curled back up to a smile.

Jake nodded his head. "I know what you mean. Some things have been changing around here. Even Paul and Embry are taller and no are hanging out with Sam and his gang. I don't really get it or like it. They all look at me like something is going to happen soon." Jake looked over his shoulders to see his dad at the window. Jake shook his head and rolled his eyes, then watched as his dad shut the blinds again.
Then, Jake turned back to Bella. "So, how have you been?" Then taking a glance over her shoulder, he saw two motorcycles lying ion the bed of the truck his dad had given her last year. "Wow, where did you get those?" He said as he started to walk around her and to her truck. He popped the bed down and hopped in the back. Very carefully, he started to examine them. Already in his mind he was going over what they needed and so on.

Bella noted the look in Jacobs eyes when he mentioned his friends but didn't pry. She decided it would either all work itself out and if not he would open up about it when he was ready, she had her own things to worry about right now anyways, and that was getting these bikes fixed and learning how to ride them.
Almost as if to read her mind, Jacob seen them in the truck and asked about them. Bella smilled and followed him around to where he had jumped in the bed of the truck. "You wouldn't know how to fix 'em up, would you?" She smurked as she watched him eyeball the two bikes. The question was almost stupid; Bella knew for a fact Jake probablly would have no problem fixing them up, except for buying the parts. . And thats where she came in.

Jake shook his head up and down almost too eagerly, he couldn't help himself. This would be so much fun for him. "Yeah, I would love to. I already know like what needs to be done with them and all of that. This should be fun. The only thing would have to be the parts. There are a lot of parts that we are going to need to put them back together." Jake looked up from his examination to look at Bella.
Then, Jake hopped out of the truck. "I am guessing that you would also like to keep them here. I bet your dad would go crazy if you were to bring these home. You need help getting them out of the truck?" Jake asked, he would be more than happy to oblige with what Bella needed. He would help no matter the cost, even if he had to buy the parts.

Bella was surprised that he could figure out so much just by glancing at the hunks of metal. And when he offered to let her keep them here, she was sure she came to the right person. "Yea, you know Charlie would have a cow if he seen me with these." She jumped in the bed of the truck and helped him pull the bikes out.
"Well price means nothing to me. You provide the labor, and I'll buy whatever parts or tools you need." She thought for a moment and glanced at the bikes, then back to Jake. It seemed like alot of work, she thought, stairing at the bikes. Their had to be something she could do for him in return. . She looked back up at him and smiled. "And if you manage to salvage both of them, that one," She pointed to the bigger of the two, "Is yours." She only needed one after all and it would probablly be more fun to have someone to ride with.

Jake loked up at Bella. His smile getting wider the entire time. "Really, that would be amazing." Jake started to take the bikes out of the trtuck. Once they were on the ground, he grabbed the bigger of the two and started wheeling it ot the garage. "Can you grab the other one and follow me?"
Jake lead the way to the garage and opened it up. He leaned the bikes against the wall and grabbed two sodas. Tossing one to Bella, he started drinking the other. This was great hanging out with someone who he hadn't for awhile. He just wished it could always be like this. He knew though that if Edward came around, Bella would automatically come back to him.
