.:Basic Personality:. Jasper is a quiet individual. He keeps to himself for the most part, and usually talks more when it is just his family as oppose to people he is unfamiliar with. He is compassionate, willing to do anything for his family, especially Alice who he loves and protects as best he can. He is calm, charismatic, and at times impatient. At times he can also be less than than serious, as he often enjoys goofing around with Emmett, making frivolous bets and having fun.
He is ashamed of his past, and ashamed of being so weak when it comes to his thirst for human blood. Because of how he was changed, and the way he was trained when he was first a vampire, he lacks the same self control that the other Cullens’ possess. He is the newest addition as a vampire in the family, and struggles to maintain his vegetarian diet and therefore, also needs to drink more than the others. This is the reason he seems so cold and distant in social places, such as school. With that being said, he also has a threatening demeanor. For those who understand and recognize where the scars have come from, they are afraid of Jasper. As many scars as he received, was as many (if not more) newborn vampires he has killed. This causes people to put up their guard around him and be intimidated by Jasper.
He is intelligent, as he is one of the older vampires out of his siblings and thus has many decades of knowledge. He sees things from a military perspective and therefore is good at strategizing plans and how to execute them. His knowledge is vast in new born vampires, and military tactics, which rarely comes in use but when it does, it proves to be very helpful. Because of his skills, he is a strong leader and his training developed him into a skilled combatant, and very analytical in his thinking.
Like other vampires, he moves at impossible speeds and possesses the same immortality as the others as well as heightened senses. A unique ability that he has is that he is able to sense and manipulate the feelings of others around him. This makes up a large portion of his personality because other people’s emotions emanate onto him. When he remained with Maria, he was vengeful, violent, aggressive and all this was mostly due to the fact that Maria felt all these things when they were together. Her anger and drive because his anger and drove him to be ferocious. This ability is countered however when he is with people like Alice, for her optimism and happiness is poured onto him and because of that, he feels more at peace than he did in his previous years. Jasper does not over use this special ability of his. He usually uses it to calm others when they are in a state of panic, or to make them feel at ease when they seem dangerous. He uses them wisely as oppose to recklessly.

.:History:.
Jasper was born in 1843, in Houston Texas. His life in the beginning was an ordinary one, though he had a certain charisma and charm about him that others could not ignore. He was well liked and well respected by most others. These qualities were especially evident when he joined the Confederate Army in 1861. He was nearly 17, but lied about his age so that he was permitted to join; thus, leading others to believe that he was 20 and his physical maturity allowed this fib to be plausible.
He was promoted quickly through the ranks, above more experienced and older men. His father continued to say it was charisma, but his ability to achieve this was later discovered, after he was transformed into a vampire. Because the Confederate Army was new and still establishing itself, it opened a window of opportunities for Jasper and only a few years later, he was recognized as the youngest Major in Texas, still under the deceiving age.
By the first battle of Galveston, Jasper was given the task of evacuating the women and children from the city. He did as he was commanded and stayed until the entire party was safely settled. When his task was complete, he immediately returned on his way to Galveston but encountered a distraction that would change his life forever. On his journey back, he met three women who he initially assumed were part of the group who he was responsible for escorting to a safe area. As he approached them, he was dumbfounded and frozen in awe by their beauty. His shock was enough to disallow him from moving, even when his instincts told him that he should run; that these women were dangerous. He did not wait long enough to free himself from his shock, and a few days later, he awoke and began to live in his new life.
The three women he encountered were named Maria, Nettie and Lucy. All three of them shared an ultimate common goal and so worked together in achieving that by gathering an army so that they could regain their territories. It was mostly Maria’s idea and so she sought out humans who had potential. Jasper was trained and given an abundant amount of attention. When he did well, he was rewarded and this incentive caused him to continue fighting to the best of his abilities. It was through his extensive training, that he became strong and willful to carry out her orders. Though they required necessary training, Maria kept in mind that their time was limited as the strength of a newborn declined after a year and she wanted to strike when they were strong.
Jasper was accompanied by five other newborns when he first joined Maria’s army. Later that day, they made a total of ten. Though they were under the same commander, they were all male and all desperate to prove themselves which made conflict within the army a common event. Jasper’s first battle was with fellow army-men, and because he was quicker than the others, and better at combat than then others, he became undefeatable and a center of attention for Maria. She was pleased with his abilities and though annoyed that she had to keep replacing Jasper’s victims, she rewarded him frequently which made him stronger. Jasper was quickly put in charge of the others, a welcomed promotion on his part. They built their army, forcing the newborns to cooperate which was an unfamiliar concept to many. Jasper’s dedication to Maria was substantial and he as she depended on him, he worshipped her. She would tell him anything and he would believe it without a moment’s hesitation. This violent lifestyle which was involuntarily thrust upon him was all he knew; all he was aware of.
Jasper rounded up an army of over 20 newborns, impressing his leader Maria. When they felt they were ready, they went to her former home and struck. Needless to say, they won the battle, only losing a few in the process. However, because of this victory, Maria became greedy and began to eye other cities. Jasper continued to fight for her, striking hard. But by the next 18 months, he was the sole survivor of the original 23. Maria lost her allies, Lucy and Nettie, and this only drew Jasper closer to her. They continued to build their army, training the newborns to become skilled and organized in the way they fought. When they were not of use anymore, they were disposed of which was what part of Jasper’s job entailed. This forced him to become skilled in destroying newborns—a skill that would prove to be an advantage later down the road.
As Jasper continued to live this violent life, he became weary of it, but knew there was nothing he could do to change it. He was sick of it, and wanted something else, but this was all he knew and so remained with Maria. Decades later, he befriended a newborn vampire named Peter. Peter was strong and survived for 3 years. Jasper noticed a difference in this particular vampire; he recognized that Peter did not like fighting, despite his skills. When the time came to dispose of the newborns, Peter – who had been in charge of ‘babysitting’ them — had a strong objection to this. Jasper ignored his objections as he felt that Maria’s command trumped his opinion, and continued to destroy the newborns, one at a time. When Jasper called out the name of one particular newborn, Peter’s objections grew and he, along with the female vampire, quickly ran away from the others. Jasper did not go after them, though he knew he could, but he had no interest in killing a friend.
Time passed, and Jasper’s violent drive was declining. He became depressed, and Maria took notice to this. He felt emotions from her, similar ones of betrayal that he had felt in the past when Nettie and Lucy went against them. Jasper was prepared to kill her, but 5 years since the departure of his friend, Peter returned in 1885. Jasper was enlightened of a new life; one that he had not dared to imagine existed. He was told of a life where he would have options, freedom, and live in peaceful co-existence. This was enough to intrigue him and he needed no more motivation. He went with Peter and Charlotte at once. He remained with them for some time, but his depression was still present. Eventually, he discovered the source of his depressed state. Whenever he killed someone, their emotions would become his emotions. He felt their fear, their dread, everything. Jasper no longer wanted to live in this state, so he strayed from Peter and Charlotte. He did not want to kill anymore, but his thirst was overpowering him and so he did what he felt he had to for survival.
As quickly as Jasper’s life had changed for the worst, it soon changed for the better. He was wandered into a diner in Philadelphia in 1948, when he first met Alice. Her jovial manner and overall happiness were emotions unfamiliar to Jasper. He took her hand, completely confused, but also without reluctance. He was told of Carlisle and the way those vampires had lived their life. Such a lifestyle seemed impossible to Jasper but it was not something he was so ready to ignore. And so, with the woman who would soon later become his wife, he ventured to the Cullens’ residence, two years later, to embrace this new, peaceful life. [/blockquote]
