Maria could smell her before she heard her, and hear her before she saw it. Such was the way with being a vampire. You never could sneak up on one such as them, for they had a blood lust that nothing could fill. And so she waited, there in the moonlight of the field near the human town she was about to enjoy, for the other to join her.
It was a bit far north for her, but she had learned to retreat far in order to come back when they least expected it. This time she was here to begin building a few key members of her army before down back down south where it was an all you could drink endless chain of humans. First, she needed to know who's hunting grounds she was on. See the threat. Enjoy the hunt with them--or enjoy the kill of them.

It was not uncommon for an occasional nomadic vampire to come across their little town. Alice could remember the days when she herself had been traveling on her own, looking for her next kill, moving around to lower suspicion. That was the way of a nomad; keep moving and don't stay for long. It was a life befitting of many of their kind however, Alice enjoyed her stable life with the Cullens. They were so kind to newcomers, even the odd nomads that tried to hunt on their territory. On this occasion, Alice was on her way to intersept one before she feasted on the quiet residents of Forks, Washington. They couldn't have that, now could they?
The Cullens took these encounters in turns, in a way, with Rosalie being the one to go the least sonce she tended to be more hostile towards 'intruders'. By now, Jasper had gotten a little more comfortable with her going alone to meet new nomads, not that he liked it though. He was always so caring and always wanted to protect her. Alice had no problem with that; she completely understood why he always wanted to accompany her, but she would never go if she saw it wasn't safe. Besides, it was less intimidating for the nomad when one of them showed up versus two. And so she slowed her pace as she got closer to the visitor, giving her time to catch her scent as not to take her completely off guard.
Taking a step out into the small clearing, Alice smiled politely at the girl with the gleaming red eyes. "Hello there!" She greeted happily, as was her way. "My name's Alice. Who might you be?" She wanted to try a kind and happy approach to start, waiting on the other girl's reply to decided where to go from there.
(I always dare, Maria. And yeah, we can play out the them not knowing for a few replies, I think (: )
