"I think perhaps we should take a moment, and remember we are a family," He said looking at Rosalie for a long moment then at Jasper, "Our hearts are in the right place but the stress and the doubt we are feeling are coming out in wrong ways." He hoped Jasper understood what he was saying about Rosalie. She meant well but sometimes it did not seem that way.
"You said, Alice lied to you. What did she lie about Jasper?" Carlisle asked to get them back on track, and to hopefully calm them down. He was worried over Jasper's apparent anger. He knew Jasper would never hurt, Rosalie, however he did not want this to cause something to happen that they would not be able to move past.

A small part of Esme got irritated at her son and daughter, Jasper and Rosalie, for acting this way. It wasn't the time to talk through people like little kids, no matter how upset they were. "Both of you knock it off," she scolded, though it came out in a whisper, "We don't have time for those little kid games. We're old enough to talk to each other, not through each other."
Esme sat straight, pulling away from Carlisle a little, she still kept one of his hand in hers. She glanced between the five of them, letting her eyes rest once more on Jasper. She could see the pain in his eyes, his expression. With a sigh she let her hand release Carlisle's unwillingly. Standing in one lithe motion she crossed the room to Jasper, setting both her hands on his shoulders. "Jasper," she tried to hold his attention. She didn't know what more to say to him as she stood there. Her thoughts turned back to the predicament they were in, her eyes focused on Jasper's pained face. With a quiet sob she let her arms wrap around Jasper, pulling him into a comforting hug. "It'll be alright," she tried to convince him.

As Rosalie stepped behind Emmett so that he was in the middle of Jasper and Rose, it got a little uncomfortable. As if it couldn't get worse Rose had asked him to tell Jasper something when he was right there! He didn't want to upset Rose and not say anything, but at the same time Jasper was going through enough, he didn't want to show that he was siding with anyone. Especially right now.
Thankfully, Carlisle had spoken before he had to say anything. Emmett let out a quiet sigh of relief. Carlisle was right and so was Esme, right now was not the time for this. They had bigger issues to deal with right now. "I think we should all just chill for a minute. We should just wait for Alice to call, then we can pick them up at the airport and take it from there." He said as if he was sure that Alice was going to call. He tried to think positive, he really didn't want to think of any other outcome...

Rosalie's words . . . Carlisle's question . . . Esme's embrace . . . and Emmett's attempt to provide hope. It all seemed so discouraging despite the amount that everyone tried to see the positive. Jasper could not . . . he could not see any good in any of this. Even Emmett, who he often joked around with and found himself acting the most silly around, could not lighten the mood for Jasper right now. It would not all be okay until Alice was in his arms, and he could see for himself that she was safe. He stood still while he felt Esme's arms around him. He was not the kind of person who often expressed or accepted physical comfort, but Esme was not to blame for this. The fact that she was crying made him guilty for not doing anything but making the situation worse. Esme was their mother . . . two of her childrens lives were at stake. Three, if one included Bella.
Jasper slowly brought his hands around Esme, returning the hug but not with as much love as he should have. He continued to ignore Rosalie's words. He was blocking them out of his mind because he did not believe a single thing she said. Talking to her . . . listening to her was making him angrier, and he could tell that the others were frustrated with their immature conversation. For that reason, he did not reply to a single thing she said. He heard it . . . but he acted as if he did not.
He looked at Carlisle . . . mentally preparing to answer his question. "It was not safe for her Carlisle. For any of them. She lied when she said she promised she would get out. I know Alice well enough to tell when she is lying." With those words, he shot a quick, but powerful glare at Rosalie as she had just stated that Alice will keep her promise. "She was trying to protect us . . . me. She did not want me to put myself in danger so in order to prevent me and any of us from following her . . . she lied and said she would get out if there was any indication of trouble." He knew what she would do if it came to that . . . and that was what frightened him the most.

------ ---Rosalie watched Jasper hug Esme and wasn't sure what she felt. She didn't speak again. Just stayed on the other side of Emmett and watched her family comfort each other. Rosalie knew this was her doing. If she had waited, then they would be waiting for Alice to fly back from Forks, and Edward to come home.
---Rosalie looked around the room at the boxes Edward had never unpacked since he was never home anymore. Part of Rosalie was still mad at Edward for not coming home, and being a family with them. Part of her was so worried she wasn't sure she could stand up with out Emmett's help.
---Rosalie left Emmett's side and walked over to the window, looking out at the few as Jasper explained Alice's lie. Rosalie still would not allow her self to believe that Alice would have lied to Jasper of all people. If it came to saving Edward's life or being with Emmett for ever, Rosalie would pick Emmett. How could Alice not do the same? It did not make since.
---Rosalie felt tears on her cheek and keep her back to her family until she had wiped them off then turned to Edward's boxes and opened one. She pulled out some of his CDs and walked over to the huge stand, and wiped the dust from the shelf with one hand and put them on it, then went back for more, and then more. Edward was coming home! She didn't care what Jasper said! Alice and Edward and Bella would be home, and they would be a family again! Happy again! Rosalie was still about cry, as she worked.

Jasper watched Rosalie as she began to clean the room. It seemed absolutely useless at this point . . . but he did not say anything. He just looked at her, before averting his gaze to the ground. He had nothing more to say to her. Her attempt to justify Alice's actions was somehow just making the situation worse for him. The others were trying to provide hope but with the amount of fear and sadness in this room . . . they could barley convince themselves that everything was going to be okay. He felt he needed to get out of this room . . . to be somewhere away from all the emotions that flooded Edward's bedroom. But he had to stay in case there was a development. So he took a step back and leaned against the threshold of the door.
