It was another day of school. Horrible school. Jasper truly despised every moment he was within this building. The only thing that made it bearable was the fact that he was with Alice . . . and of course his family. But the fact that he was surrounded by humans all day long, made the temptation too great for him to handle. Somehow, each day, he managed. He was weak, but he had enough strength to stop himself from attacking anyone.
He sat at the table that his family usually sat at and just stared at the inedible food that lay in a tray in front of them. It was repulsive really, but it was just one of the many things they were required to do in order to 'fit in'. Jasper just had to keep reminding himself that the only reason he came, was for Alice. Otherwise, he would have no objection to spending all of his time at home . . . not surrounded by humans each of which had such. . . fresh . . . blood . . .
. . . This was going to be a long day.-- open to anyone --

------ ---Rose walked over and sat down in her set. Emmett would sit at her right, so she crossed her legs that way and picked up her apple. Not that she planned to eat it but until Emmett was here for her to hold them this was a good prop. Rose looked over at Jasper and could tell he was having trouble. She was not going to say anything to him.
---Honestly! It was stupid to test him like this. They should just admit his weakness and make him hunt more often in order to be here. Rose was not going to speak to him, Edward and Alice would pester him once they were here. He could hold out until then! Rose froze for a moment and looked at his face but was seeing him not holding out and her having to move...again! She was almost out of high school! "Jazz, Alice's class running late?" She spoke to take his mind off of THEM.

Though Jasper was fully aware of Rosalie's presence, he made no attempt to look at her as she had a seat. He kept his gaze forward, and focused. He could feel the doubt she felt, but said nothing. All he knew was that they had been settled here for some time, and he . . . he was not going to be the reason they would have to move. It would come eventually, but not by Jasper's doing.
He remained silent for a few moments after she asked her question, and his line of sight slowly directed to wards her. "I suppose." Truth was, he was VERY gratefully Rosalie was here. He needed someone to sit with . . . to talk to . . . to keep him strong. "Do not worry Rosalie. I will not do anything." The doubt she felt, and the way she looked at him, made him feel the need to reassure her.

------ ---Rose have him a small smile that said 'Sorry, I was trying to be graceful'. She had not meant to join the league of over protectors that he had. While she knew that she only spoke because SHE didn't want to move, she did also feel bad (some what) for his suffering.
---"I knew you weren't." Small lie. "I was just wondering about Alice." Out of everyone in her family, Rose was closet to Esme (After Emmett who was ALWAYS her number one), them would come Alice. However, out of all of them, Jasper seemed (to her mind) the most understanding of her (Again, besides Emmett). She didn't want him thinking that she was just as annoying (at lest to her mind) as Alice and Edward could get over his struggles. "Perhaps we should go hunting tonight. You, me, Alice and Emmett." A very morbid double date.
---The Cullens usually hunted once every two weeks, or so depending on how the need grew. While that was just fine for Rose, who had never tasted human blood, everyone knew that as the 2nd week moved on for Jasper it had to get harder. It was Wednesday, and their hunt was planned for this weekend.
[What time frame is this?]

He understood the apology -- Rosalie's form of an apology -- and just gave a short nod to express that it was not a big deal. "I wish I knew." Surely, she would show up some time. "Where is Emmett?" He may as well ask since they were exchanging spousal inquiries. The thought of hunting brought relief to Jasper. "That sounds wonderful." Maybe it was strange of Jasper to say that hunting, and drinking the blood of an animal sounds wonderful . . . but it really was to him.
"Thank you Rosalie. I appreciate your understanding." He hoped . . . no, he knew Carlisle would understand. He just felt bad that he had to go more often. But Rosalie suggested it in such a way that made it sound like it was not just him who needed it. He knew he was the most desperate, but she was, as he said, understanding about the matter. "You are sure you do not mind?"
[Good question. Any prefereances? I didn't really think about it when I started the thread. If you don't have any specific suggestions, then maybe Early or mid ish Twilight.]

------ ---"Emmett's class has a test today. Edward warned him of the surprise." Not that they needed it being they have taken all these classes over and over and over before. "The teacher will not let anyone go until everyone finishes. Humans are slow."
---"I do not mind, and my mind is made up. Which means Alice already knows, but I will ask her anyway if she wants to go." Which meant Edward who Rose had not included would know as well. Sometimes all these 'gifts' were a pain to live with. She loved her simple, Emmett who's only gift was being wonderful.
[Or pre-Twilight. Like right before or something. YOU pick. You or Alice. (when she joins)][/quote]

[sorry it took so long, busy with school right now! gr! now, I'm totally assuming that we're in the Lunch room... hope I'm not wrong... ^^ ] A sigh tumbled out of her lips before she could stop it. A long morning, meant a long afternoon, meant endless.... Meant agony...
A roll of her eyes finished off Alice's mental complaint as she pushed open the door with ease and sailed -as always- into the Cafeteria, casting her eyes all around to the busy table surrounding her, with the occasional fellow student who was brave enough to give her a lingering questioning stare. Yes, another long, long day....
Spotting both Rosalie and Jasper at their usual table, Alice noticed that they seemed to be locked in an important discussion. This must be about the... 'thing' she 'saw' earlier...
She planted a faint smile upon her lips as she neared the table, she took her seat beside her husband, dropping her shoulder bag gently beside her legs.
"Whatever are you talking about?" she asked with a wider smile, attempting to ignore a few more students who walked by with full stares at each of her and her family... [yikes, hope that's okay! ^^ I had to hurry at the end... just wanted to post!!]

Oh the advantages of their gifts. Not that they necessarily needed to pass high school . . . again. It was just good for appearances, and it was always helpful when they were told of surprise tests. Jasper gave a short nod in response to Rosalie's remark about humans being slow . . . however his attention shifted to Alice as she took a seat next to him. He instantly felt her joviality. He shifted his seat so that he was a little closer to her.
Jasper then looked at Rosalie as she asked what they were discussing. He would let her reveal their plans . . . though -- as previously mentioned -- Alice most likely already knew what they were planning. In the meantime, he lightly scratched the head of the chair (as he was sitting on it backwards). It was his way of diverting himself from staring at what felt like millions of humans. It was practically like dangling a meat of meat in front of a starving dog. The temptation was overwhelming.

------ ---Rose was not looking at Jasper but still could see his look to her. Rose have a overly dramatic sigh as she turned to Alice and pretended to be bored. "Emmett is getting restless. He needs to get out, and I was trying to convince Jasper that we all should go hunting tonight."
---Alice could see the path people were on when they made a decision, which meant that Alice knew of the hunting trip. But not the reason behind it, no, Rose could lie about that for Jasper. Not that she expected Jasper to keep it from Alice, at lest not for long.
---But for now, if Alice believed it, then maybe she could not get over protective like she sometimes did. Maybe. If Jasper didn't tell her.

[like Rose said, pre-Twilight is fine, if you want! doesn't bother me either way! ^^ ] Alice nodded, listening to Rosalie as she spoke. She flashed a quick smile as Rosalie finished, and shifted in her chair closer to Jasper.
"I know." She said simply and lightly, giving a smile, "Well, if I'm invited, then I'd love to go, so... Jasper, would you mind coming too?" she put on a sweet tone to her voice, casting her eyes to her husband with a pleading smile. "We do need to get away... For Emmett's sake..."
'Somehow' she knew that Jasper would say yes. Otherwise the 'gift' she was given was of no use anymore... [sorry it took me so long... and it's not very good, but I'm just getting the hang of it! ]

The fact that they were making it out to be so that it was not Jasper who desperately needed to go hunting made him feel a little guilty. They were being so supportive and encouraging . . . he just wished he did not have to appear so weak in their presence. "I would greatly enjoy a hunt tonight."
I am getting Restless . . . . . . For My Sake . . . . . . Would you all mind going . . . . . .
"Thank you." His grateful remark was sincere as he looked down at the table, ashamed of his lack of self control. Rosalie was trying to make it seem like Emmett needed to go . . . and Alice was doing the same. And Emmett would not object. His family was far more support than he could have ever asked for.

Edward strode into the lunch room with a blank look on his face. This fake lunch thing was beginning to grate on his nerves. He looked around as everyone's thoughts came blasting toward him all at the same time. However, there was one conversation that he could 'hear' that sounded a bit more civilized and he also recognized the voices as his family.
Walking quickly past the line, and creeping some of the girls out that stood beside him, he grabbed a small, lunch sized bag of 'Frito's Corn Chips' and hastily headed in the direction of the cashier.
In a flash Edward showed the poor, and rather startled woman, his purchase, which is surprising she saw it. She gave him a timid look as he handed her the money for his 'lunch', which had come out of no where. Giving her a quick, half-smile he walked toward his family, making sure not to look at anyone else, though they were looking at him.
"Good Afternoon." Edward smiled and bowed his head to his sisters and then gave curt nods in his brother's direction. Sitting down he dropped the bag of -now crushed- chips down on the table.[OOC: I hope this is okay! And I hope it is okay that I joined... Just tell me if I need to edit something!]

------ ---Rosalie was feeling rather proud of her self. It appeared Alice might not be in the know. She might think Emmett needed the trip. Or she might just be playing very well along.
---When Edward sat down, Rose make a point not to think about her real reasons for asking, "We are going on a hunting trip, tonight. Your invited." She made it sound as if it was something grand, or formal. It wasn't, and Edward would know it. Still, Rose like the presentation and the show.

Emmett stalked out of his classroom rather annoyed. Being as impatient as he is, he wasn't too pleased about having to wait for all the humans to finish their tests. "Humans are so slow." He muttered as he walked to the cafeteria. His mood lightened when he saw that there was no line to get food. Even though it looked completely repulsive, it was always better to not have to wait in line. He grabbed the first thing he saw-a bagel- and went over to the cashier to go pay for it. "Thanks," he told the woman behind the counter as he turned the other way with his food.
He walked to the far end of the cafeteria where his family sat. Eyes were on him, but he didn't care. He heard Rosalie telling Edward about a hunting trip and wondered why they were planning that so soon. He finally reached the table and took a seat next to Rosalie. "Hey everyone," he said as he pulled his chair in, "sorry I'm late, humans take so long to finish tests."
{OOC: Hope that was semi-decent}

------ ---Rose smiled when Emmett walked into the room and then wondered how she could 'pass along' her message of playing along. She glanced at Jasper and waited for Emmett. She did notice that some of the new freshmen girls where watching them, so while she waited for Emmett, She rang her fingers though her hair and tilled her head in a practiced way.
---When he sat down, Rose smiled wider, and filled him in, "I was just inviting Edward to go hunting with us." Her smile froze and she glanced at Jasper, then at Edward, then back at Emmett. She hoped Emmett understood why they needed to go hunting with out making it a big deal. She wanted Jasper in control. She did not want to move again!

Emmett saw Rose glance from Jasper to Edward back to him and figured there was something not being said. Once Rosalie mentioned hunting, he quickly caught on.
He knew how Jasper was the newest member of their family and had the hardest time controlling himself. "Great. It's about time we go hunting." Emmett replied with a smile, trying to make it seem like he was relieved to go. Emmett definitely didn't want Jasper feeling bad for any reason, so he was fine with playing along.

Jasper listened to Edward join them . . . and soon after Emmett. Though Jasper did not seem them, he could feel the short glances directed to him and knew that it was an unspoken understanding. "Thank you," he said in a low voice. Even though no one said it was Jasper who needed to desperately go . . . everyone knew, and for that, he was grateful that they were all very accommodating.
The thought of hunting seemed to make this day more bearable. Now that Emmett was here, perhaps Jasper would try to lighten the -- mainly his own -- mood. "How would you like to make a bet Emmett?" The two things that always brought a smile to Jasper's face: baseball and betting.

------ ---Rosalie ignored Jasper's thank you. Not going to make a big deal about it, so that way she could do it again if she needed it. Instead she lifted part of her lunch, an apple and held it in her hand as if she was going to eat it. Turning it and letting the light gleam off it. If this small town lunch room, had cleaner looking apples she might have been able to see her reflection off it. When she heard Jasper speak to Emmett she smiled but didn't look at either of them. They were so cute when they were betting. Getting competitive. Even if sometimes their bets were a bit morbid.

Emmett didn't reply to Jasper's thank you, it wouldn't do any good to make a big deal out of it anyways. He just tried to look distracted, slowly breaking his bagel into pieces. That was until Jasper mentioned a bet. He smiled hugely and said, " You're on! Anytime, anywhere, I'll be there!" Emmett was now stoked. Even though he had no clue what the deal was or what they were betting against, it didn't change anything. Anything that involved a competition of some sort he wouldn't object to.
He thought it over and asked, "So, what are we going to bet against?" It still didn't matter to him, but it was always nice to know what they were going to do. He thought about the possibility of winning and grinned again. Emmett loved to win, especially winning to someone who was also competitive, it just made the win much more valuable to him.

Jasper's expression transformed to a pensive one. "How about . . . whoever catches the first, biggest bear, wins." Jasper knew it would be hard for him to focus on making his first meal a bet . . . but he always enjoyed a good challenge. Maybe it would even help him compose himself a bit. Either way, he wanted to win -- which was nothing new -- and was now looking forward to hunting even more [if that was ever possible].

Alice gave a smile to Edward as he dropped gently into the chair beside Rosalie's at the end of the table. And she watched all of them conversing, occasionally drifting her eyes around the lunchroom around them. From the distant table where they always sat, you could see all around you, and everyone in between. Alice gave a lingering stare at one of the students who seemed brave enough to be staring at them. But the student quickly turned away as his eyes settled on Alice's; she gave a satisfied smile and turned back as a bet was being made.
She smiled as Jasper seemed to gain back his old personality that only she knew too well. It seemed to come back when he was betting with Emmett the most. She loved to watch the bets in the making.
Though this time, she resisted the urge to tell just who would win, for she knew only too well now...

------ ---Rosalie did not have Alice's gift but she had faith in her husband. "Setting your self up to lose, Jasper?" She teased him after giving a light laugh. Everyone knew how Emmett was about bears. It was his favorite. Rose sat her apple down and watched her brother and husband. She 'knew' that Emmett would win.
---She could be wrong, Jasper could very well get lucky and win, but she was willing to bet that Emmett would win. She glanced at Alice just to see if she was looking to see who would win, but saw nothing in her face to give a hint to what would happen.

Emmett was even more confident then he already was. Grizzly was his favorite, so he thought it could make things easier. "Alright, it's on!" Emmett replied, getting more eager to go on this hunting trip by the minute. After Rose's remark to Jasper he gave her a quick wink and went back to breaking his bagel apart with a grin on his face.

"Not at all," he said to Rosalie with confidence . . . though of course he did not know who was going to win. He was not going to appear uncertain about it though. "I just wish to pick something Emmett loves so that when he loses, it will be that much more rewarding for me." He was of course teasing the vampire . . . he got along with Emmett well enough to be able to tease him. And this was certainly helping take his mind off of where they were. He just had to have something to look forward to [which he did] and constantly remind himself of the reason he came here every day [which was who he was sitting next to].

------ ---Rosalie laughed as if Jasper had been teasing her and not her husband. It was a musical sound, and drew a few gazes but Rosalie liked to be stared it. She didn't reply to him, leaving Emmett to fend for him self, so to speak, since she knew Jasper was only making this more fun for Emmett. Rose would look forward to this hunting trip.
---Not only would she get to hunt, and eat, but watching them goof off was almost as fun as being the center of attention. Almost as fun. She brief thought about what would happen if [i[she[/i] caught a bear first, and how she could brag tot hem both. However, Rose didn't hunt bears often. She and Alice would find other prey. [/color]

Emmett was still confident about winning this bet, obviously. With Jasper sounding pretty confident as well, he thought that this victory would be much better.
Emmett chuckled at Jasper's remark. "Uh, huh, if that's what you think, Jasper. You're little remarks are going to make my victory all the more special when I get to rub it in your face." He said teasingly, but he really was planning on rubbing it in his face. It just made everything more fun.

The abundant amount of amusement at the table was contagious. It made the day less difficult to struggle with and easier to endure. Uplifting moods such as the ones everyone here currently had helped Jasper a great deal. Even Rosalie found humor in his and Emmett's betting. "Oh, we'll see about that. I would not talk too much Emmett. Trust me. I am saving you humiliation by warning you to not mouth of too much . . . for when I defeat you, you will regret every word and wished you had listened to me."
Jasper did not talk at school often . . . but when a bet was in the making, he turned into a chatterbox with his words of encouragement and challenge.

------ ---Rosalie smiled as she watched her brother and her husband debate on who's victory was sweeter. Silly boys. Always betting. She thought back to Jasper and Emmett's first meeting and wondered of Alice knew that Emmett and Jasper, two such different vampires would become best of friends?
---Rosalie said nothing while they spoke. Nor did she feel the need to, since the conversation was not about her. She didn't feel the need for it to forever be about her. She would like it that way but was happy when talking about Emmett or her family as well.

Emmett chuckled at what he thought was a threat. "HA!" Emmett howled with amusement. "Did you just threaten me?" He questioned with a grin glued to his face. Jasper's enthusiasm was making Emmett even more animated about the bet. Of course he was already enthusiastic about it (as he was with any bet) but the fact that Jasper was also getting competitive made it so much better for him.
"You are the one that shouldn't be so confident. When I win, you will be sorry. I already know what I'm going to say to you once I win, all you are doing is adding to my list." Emmett teased.
