Jasper sat down at his computer as he placed one of his books to his side. He had a few copies of it and so was going to give one to someone he had just recently met. Someone whom he had exchanged emails with . . . which was not a common occurrence for him to do. He was just pleased to have met someone who was willing to read his books, since most people in his family found no interest in them -- due to the fact that Jasper told them the story of his past many times -- .
He logged in, under his email which was his pen name, his father's name.

Good Afternoon,
I have come across a copy of one of the texts we discussed the other day, and was thinking that perhaps you would be interested in obtaining a copy. This issue is not available in stores here in Washington, so if you would like to possess a copy, do inform me.
Have a good day.

Rachael had been in her e-mail account sending her sister a letter about her newest doctor's apartment when she noticed she got a new e-mail. She looked at the sender in mild worry and surprise. Oh dear. Glancing over her shoulder to look for Paul. She debated for about two moments before sighing and rolling her eyes. Paul was bias, Jasper had been very nice, and Nessie was going to be her sister in law! Which made Jasper, in Rachael's mind, family.
When she had first met Jasper, she had not made a connection to who he was and . . .what he was. She had not known 'The Cullens' names. Paul never spoke them, and Jasper had said his last name was Hale. When Paul had 'explained' (yelled) she had be frighten for about four seconds before her mind made the connections. 1) Jacob, Leah and their Pack almost lived there. 2) Nessie, who was over a few times, was the sweetest thing alive. 3) Jasper had been kind, and not once tried to bite her. Jasper had been distracted on his computer when he received a reply from Rachael. He was the best? Interesting. No one had said that to him before . . . he was usually very socially awkward, especially with humans. But for some reason, he was easing up a bit around them, as well as wolves.

It is quite alright for you to permanently take ownership of the text, free of charge. I am certain you will put it to more use than I have. Any time is convenient for me. If you would like to meet somewhere today, it would not be an inconvenience for me.

Rachael liked the way Jasper talked, when she had first met him it had been 'Oh he must really like history' now she understood. She paused for a moment, thinking things out. Weighting Paul's words against his anger when he found out where is was. The she opened, her e-mail and typed out a message. She paused against for a half moment before clicking the word send. There! Done! She was going to see the Cullens as extended family (or the less scary parts of them) for now. ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.)) She was going to Seattle? Wait, she was inviting him to go with Seattle with her? That was a little . . . odd. Maybe he was just old fashioned, or maybe she was just a very friendly person, which Jasper was not used to. He would have to leave a note for Alice, since she was away shopping right now, and she could potentially be gone the whole day. When Rosalie and Alice shopped . . .

[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] With that email sent, he got up and put a few books in a bag for her. She was the first Leanord Whitlock fan he had ever met! He was very excited to talk more about the books with her. It was a shame he would not be able to tell her that he was in fact the author of them. But perhaps anonymity was better suited.

Rachael had been going to offer to pick him up but, she would just meet him there. After signing off, she made a quick phone call. Jacob had once laughed about how Leah and Jasper had become friends. It was hard to imagine them friends, since they were so dramatically different, but . . .
She called Leah and asked a few general questions about vampire diets. Leah wasn't an idiot and gave Rachael some advice. It was shocking, but Rachael assumed Leah was going to give her a heads start and then run tattle on her.
After changing into one of Paul shirts (which was Leah's advice) she drove to the library and waited for Jasper. She had pend the shirt back so, while it was still big on her, it looked less like she was playing dress up. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Jasper left a note for Alice, explaining exactly where he was going, who he was going with, and his reason for going. If he had known she would be uncomfortable with this, he would not have gone. But knowing Alice, she would be encouraging his social skills. Hopefully she would not worry that he would attack Rachael . . . no. If there was any extreme danger, Alice would have seen it and told him straight away. But her continued absence eliminated that possibility. Jasper was debating whether to take his car or not. No need. He would walk there, but he could not rush. There were too many people around. It was a good thing the sun was not out right now. He carried his back and walked at a human pace -- which was painfully slow -- but necessary. When he was there, he saw her almost immediately. Her smell was . . . bizarre. It was more wolf than last time. Was she wearing a wolf's shirt? Bizarre indeed, but it certainly did help as far as Jasper's lack of self control went. "Good morning," he greeted politely as he approached her, not extending his hand to shake it -- for his was too cold -- but instead, lowered his head in a slight bow out of courtesy as he kept his hands folded behind his back, his bag of books hanging on one shoulder.

Rachael's face lit up when she saw it. It was not because of the fact it was a man, but more from her love of meeting people and having conversations like the ones she could have with Jasper. She waved at him, and waited for him to approach. "Good morning, Jasper! Did you walk here? I could have picked you up at your house. Don't worry," She smiled again. "I will dive you home."
Noticing the bag he had she wondered, "Are they the books? Do you mind driving there while I look." She blushed, "I am excited to see them,. . . . and I can drive back or, we can split it half there and half back? It's a four hour drive. I hope you didn't cancel plans to come with me." "It is no trouble. The weather was nice, and I could use the walk. As I stated in the email, my residence is a little out of the way." He wanted it to remain in seclusion. It was his one place to be normal; a place where he did not have to hide. It was his sanctuary.
He would have to convince her later not to worry about driving him home. He did not like arguing, and there was no point to start off their day doing so. "Yes, they are," he said, welcoming the change of topic. He took them off his shoulder and handed them to her. "You may keep all of them, from one avid fan to the other." He was not an avid fan of himself . . . it just seemed like the best way to describe a person who had copies of them, without revealing they were the true author. "I would be glad to relieve you of your job driving." He politely smiled and held out his hand for the keys so that they could be on their way. "My day was free, and I am greatly looking forward to traveling to Seattle with you." That much was true . . . he was not dreading this trip, though he knew it would be a struggle to control himself; he was still looking forward to it.

Rachael smiled and took the books from him and felt the weight. Wow, she had not expect that much weight. The books were thick, and with the non-see though bag she had not expected that. She let them slowly down so they rested on the ground while she spoke to Jasper. Pregnant women were supposed to lift heavy things, but still, they weren't that heavy. "Thank you so much!" She pulled her (girlly) keys out and handed them to Jasper. "I can't wiat to look at them!"
And speak to him. She wasn't commenting on his 'scarier' aspects since people could hear. She however, also, didn't know how to bring it up. That would be the hard part.[/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Jasper had not picked up on the fact that the books may be too heavy. He often forgo how delicate humans were. But still, they were so near the car, that he did not take the time to take them from her. Instead, he took her keys and opened the passenger seat for her before going to the driver's seat. "I do hope you enjoy them. They are a bit older, but I am fairly certain they will aid in your research. How is your novel coming along anyway?" He asked casually, once he was in the driver's seat. He had to adjust the seat back to give himself more leg room. It was a cozy car; nothing like the ones he was used to driving.

Rachael got in the car and gave him a polite thank you for opening her door for her. She put the bag on the floor board and put her seat belt on, making her it was not to tight over her babies. Hehe. Babies! She then picked one of the books out of the bag and looked at it. Opening it and flipping some of the pages gently. "It's going. I am still building up some references to help it form on the pages. I was going to go to the book store and try to pick up some more. Maybe even some newspapers from somewhere besides Forks and La Push," She joked.
She wondered if she should offer to roll down the windows or anything. Would that seem wrong? Was it like offering to help the cripple who didn't want it? Or would be be glad she was trying to help. "It's cloudy but it's not supposed to rain, if you want to crack a window or anything." She let him know. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

"Is that our first destination?" He asked, just trying to get a general idea of where they were going as he started the car and headed off to Seattle. "Let me know if you need any assistance acquiring papers from different places. I have a stack of them at home, for my family travels a lot." He would not give her the older ones that he had kept . . . for she would certainly have questions about the dates. Jasper was a pack rat though, so he tended to keep everything. "How many chapters have you completed?" Of course one could not rush writing, but he was just looking forward to her novel so very much.
It would help to open a window, but he did not want to put her at an inconvenience. "Are you uncomfortable with the current temperature of the car?" He asked, wondering if she were too hot or cold. If she did not mind a window being opened, then he would open it. Jasper felt he was doing well . . . he did not want to press his luck.

"Oh, umm." She paused not sure how to say what she needed to say. "No, I am fine." Paul was burning up, so all her time with him made where else cold. Made her miss him allot. "You are making excellent progress. I would greatly enjoy reading the chapters following the one I read. It was very interesting, and based on the first chapter, I am quite certain that the others are as equally engaging." He was really enjoying exchanging -- well, kind of -- books with her. If she only knew that he had written them, then maybe he could offer more help instead of just posing like someone who had a lot of experience writing. "Whatever is more convenient for you. Perhaps on your flash drive. I know sometimes how one would prefer to be present when another is reading their work." Her emotions were odd. It was not necessarily fear . . . but a bit of uncertainty, and her words only further confused him. "I beg your pardon?" He asked politely, and curiously. It would make what easier? Had he missed something?

Jasper nearly slammed on the breaks. Did she just say what he thought she did? Werewolf. Yes. She most certainly used the word 'werewolf'. She was . . . more than just Jacob Black's sister. She was someone who knew everything . . . about them . . . about who they were. Jasper tried to remain polite, as she was doing the same. Why was she not afraid? She was far too calm, far to accepting of the fact that he was a vampire. First Bella, now her. What was WRONG with people in Washington?!
Not only was she unafraid . . . she was trying to make things easier for him. For him?! Why was she not uncomfortable? Why was someone so considerate about making a vampire feel comfortable instead of fearing for their own life?! Jasper was so confused. He just stared blankly at the road ahead of him, trying to focus on driving, but his face was expressionless and he could not find the words to say.
After several moments of silence, he abruptly steered the car to the side and parked it on the side of the road. He sat there, with his hands on the steering wheel. After a few more moments, he spoke, but kept his gaze directed to the front of the now still road. "I should leave." He had to assume that someone inside of her, she was afraid of him. Did she know how weak he was? She talked to Leah so Jasper did not even want to think what Rachael knew about him. Though he knew he should leave . . . that he should not be alone with a human -- for somehow it seemed far more worse when she knew what he was -- he did not want to leave. He felt that they had a lot in common, perhaps even somewhere along the lines of friends. And . . . she was just so . . . so . . . unusually calm with this whole situation. It was unnatural, and very rare. "Why are you so calm?" He could feel it. She was embarrassed, she should be petrified. He just could not understand. So much for leaving.

When he was silent, Rachael begin to get worried, when he suddenly pulled to the side of the road, one hand of hers gripped the door handle, and the other rested on her belly. Oh no.
He said something about leaving, and she couldn't speak. She was afraid she made him mad. Wolf tempers were crazy, and she wasn't sure how vampire tempers worked but she was hoping he wasn't about to do anything bad. Oh no.
He didn't leave, and his words cause a small amount of the fear to go down but she was still to afraid to look at him. She just stared forward. "A werewolf imprinted on me, his friends are my friends and they are all wolves, my wolf-Brother imprinted on a half vampire, who's family. . . .in a way my family, are all vampires. My blood line is one of the best in La Push's packs. The pure-est or some such." She had tears and from being worried she had a hint of nervous giggles in her voice. "So the children I am carrying, will only join their father and uncle in the 'family business'. . . . It's be calm and go with the flow or die from stress." If he didn't know she was pregnant, he would after that comment. "I didn't mean to offend or upset you. I was just trying to be nice, since Leah said-" Darn Leah "-that you were new to the . . . .Cullen life." [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Jasper tried to keep up to her talking which she was doing at a rapid pace. Wolves. Imprinting. Pregnancy. Leah. Leah . . . that certainly explained some of it. Jasper was not sure what to say. He looked at her blankly, though his curiosity was great and he found himself fighting the urge to bombard her with a series of questions. He could sense the nervousness in her, and knew that stress was not good for a baby . . . or multiple ones as she had pluralized the word.
He made her feel calm, and relaxed, so that she would not feel so afraid, or nervous, or uncertain . . . so that he would not be responsible for endangering her children. "You spoke to Leah, then you know I am weak when it comes to humans. And yet, you offer to allow me to travel with you to Seattle, even with the massive risk involved." He did not understand. His statement was a bit of a question, or one that begged for a more logical, rational, explanation rather than just 'go with the flow'. How could she go with the flow when it came to a vampire?! How much did she know? How much had Leah told her? She must have told her about their vegetarian tendencies, otherwise Rachael would never have even considering socializing with him . . . then again, it had already been established how different the women in Washington could be. Those who were exposed to their vampire identity, were unusually accepting of it.

She explained, trying to show him she was helping. "I'm not; NOT afraid of you, Jasper. But we had spoken the other day of prejudiced, and judging one person by the actions of others." She knew he would understand. She wasn't going to point at him and yell 'BAD VAMPIRE' because most vampires where evil. She was going to give him the benefit of the doubt and trust him. "I am a vampire . . . you should be prejudice." It was the normal human reaction! And here she was, making things easier for her. Jasper did not laugh at her joke, or display any signs of amusements. "We can bite. It is not just one bite with us. It is one bite that would kill you." For Jasper, he would suck all the blood out of a human with one bite. Why was Rachael so calm?! He could not grasp his head around this. It did not make sense to him.
"I do not understand how you can feel so comfortable around someone of my kind." Especially sine she knew Jasper was the weaker one. He fought the urge to tell her of his past, so that he could elicit a normal human reaction: fear. "None of this disturbs you?" He asked, still in disbelief that she was not phased by this. That she still spoke to him normally, back when she thought he was a human.

Rachael turned her head to look the window and away from Jasper, she didn't know that if he was looking, he could see her face in the reflection. "I was afraid, and thought I was crazy but. . . " She gave a shrug, "I love Paul." If Paul belonged into this world, then she would make her self fit in. "As for vampires, . . . Yes, I am afraid, but fear will not rule my actions."

Once Rachael said she loved Paul, a bit more of this whole thing made sense. Jasper knew first hand what it felt like to love someone so much, that you were willing to do anything and everything for them. Yet . . . she certainly could not be spending time with him with the acceptance of her shape shifter boy friend. "He does not know you are here. You do not have to allow any fear to enter you." She was willingly here with him, and that was a reason that Jasper would never be able to understand.
Her next question merited an honest response from him. After all, she had been honest with him, he felt he must return the favor . . . and yet, he did not want to tell her everything. "I will never truly be comfortable around a human." He would struggle less eventually, like the others -- or so he hoped -- but he never felt he would be completely relaxed around one. "Though I must say that wearing Paul's shirt, certainly makes this slightly easier. The smell of a wolf is very unappetizing to a vampire." He was planning on forcing a smile, but he was too perplexed to give out such an emotion. He was too confused. Too . . . . . . . . . vampires were just far too accepted here.

"I am not afraid of you." Lie, but she wasn't going to let him think she was. It might hurt his feelings. "From what little I know about the . . . differences between you and us, -- Us being wolves, I hear nether of us like the others smells." Rachael was making sure she included her self with the wolves now. So he knew she understood. "Paul told me you were a vam--Cullen. I came home and he could smell you on me. He. . . . wasn't pleased. I think he burned the clothes I was wearing." She joked, trying to relax them. "No, I didn't tell him I was here, but knowing Leah, she will race as fast as she can to tell him."
"I intend to be part of Jacob and his one day wife's life. That means in some way, part of yours. I want to be your friend, Jasper. If you rather not try this today, I can take you home, and go alone. I don't want this to be hard on you."[/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

One of the things that came along with being able to sense others emotions, were the feelings associated with a lie. Jasper did not call her out on it however. Even if he could feel her emotions, he would have not believed that she was not afraid of him. He was certain that she was. "Both parties are very sensitive to the smell of the other. We have heightened sense, and the wolves are trackers. The fact that you wore Paul's shirt was very . . . considerate of you." In a highly odd way. "I am quite sure that he tells you of the great danger we are to you, to humans. And yet . . .. I can not deny that your willingless to socialize with me surprises me." Jasper wondered if Paul would seek him out and try to kill him. That should make for an interesting physical altercation . . . one that Jasper would try to avoid for he did not want to be forced to kill a wolf. Hard on him?! On him?! "Exiting my house, every day, is difficult, but it is the world I live in. You on the other hand, can avoid this world. You do not have to feel fear caused by me, for you do not have to be in the presence of a vampire. And yet, you choose to be." It was not rational to him. "I am not trying to convince you to keep your distance -- " -- Or maybe he was -- "I do enjoy your company, I am just concerned about your well being." That sounded less extreme than saying he was concerned for her life, and that he would snap and attack her.

"Your my sister-in-law's uncle." Rachael said. "I think avoiding this world wasn't an option for me. I do not intend to lose my family twice." She let that part slip out with out thinking. The first time she had left, not being able to handle the pressures of family. This time she wasn't running, no matter how scary the things that went bump in the night-or light- were. "Besides. . . ."
". . . How many other people in our small towns even know who Whitlock is?" She joked trying to make things less tense and crazy. "Who else am I going to talk about him with?" She gave a small laugh but it was from nerves and stress, not humor. [/blockquote] ((Icons not of my own making. Credit goes to 'Leah' of MP.))

Though Jasper knew she was still trying to make light of the situation, he could not do it. He was too disturbed to shrug off the obsurdity of this and allow them to be normal, though normality was something that Jasper had strived for in order to blend in with the human crowd. She now knew he was Whitlock . . . . . . . she knew he was over a hundred years old . . . . . . . she knew he was a vampire, a weak vampire. And here she was, smiling and joking around.
"Whitlock is not a popular name at all." He was trying to go along with the joke, but he was practically straining himself trying to encourage whatever humor was associated with this tense situation. Well, apparently it was only tense for Jasper. Maybe he should just let this go. Could he? He could pretend to. He could start enjoying himself as he had before with this woman who he had a lot in common with. Interest wise, not species wise. "You are certain you are fine with this?" He asked once again, his voice rather serious.
