OOC: This is the race thread for Leah and Edward. At the moment I think it will just be these two until the race starts then I get the feeling they are going to have a few people watching to see the outcome.
When he had heard the news he had laughed and then berated his wife slightly for not believing in him. It was lighthearted though, he could never really think ill of Bella. So he would take the dog up on the race. If only to shut her up and put her in her place slightly. Who knew maybe Jacob would thank him for the effort. Course if she were a bad loser maybe not.
He walked into the forest knowing that Leah was on patrol tonight. "Here doggy doggy doggy." He stated with a wry smile. There was no better way to get Leah's attention then to get her riled up.

Leah's fur went on end. One day, she was going to take a bite out of that vampire's body, then hide it somewhere so he could never be whole. One day! Leah gritted her teeth, and mentally told the others she would be back. Moving away from the line, Leah moved to find the mouthy Vampire. She didn't have to look far, his horrible sent lead her right to him. 'Look Vampie, if Jacob is dreaming about your wife or daughter or who ever you two are fighting over this week it's not my problem, kay? So go away.'
Leah sat down about twelve feet from him and glared at him, She hoped he randomly caught on fire or something. Leah was still not vampire fan no matter how much Seth and Jacob were telling the others the Cullens where 'ok' or 'the good guys'. In Leah's mind a leach was a leach and they were all targets.

"Easy Leah," Edward stated holding his hands up in a consillary way. "Honestly I just wanted to talk to you and did not think you'd come if I just said 'Hey Leah'."
He smiled in what he hoped was a friendly manner but knowing Leah's attitude to him and his family he would not be surprised if she took it the wrong way. Shaking his head and continuing to try and be nice to the shape shifter he moved on to his purpose in calling her. "So I was talking to my wife and she was relaying an interesting conversation that you had earlier."
He kept the distance between them the same. Not that he was trying to be standoffish but because this way their scents would bother either of them so much. "So what I want to know before Emmett, Jasper and Jacob get involved is do you want to test your belief or not?"
"Do you or do you not want to race me?"

"Honestly I just wanted to talk to you and did not think you'd come if I just said 'Hey Leah'."
'Your right, about that.'
"So I was talking to my wife-"
'I came over here for this?'
"-and she was relaying an interesting conversation that you had earlier."
'I barely remember an conversation much less an interesting one.' Small lie, Leah did remember her day in Port Angles, where they took Bella out of La Push with out the vampires knowing.
"So what I want to know before Emmett, Jasper and Jacob get involved is do you want to test your belief or not?"
'I believe I am going to bite you, Yes! Lets test that out!'
"Do you or do you not want to race me?"
Leah froze but if she had been human she would be grinning. Oh yes. This pleased her. A race with the vampire, who known as the fastest. A chance to prove her was better. Oh yes!
Leah knew she had been on patrol for while, she would stall a bit in order to rest before hand. 'What were you thinking? State your terms, Sparkle boy.'

Edward was getting good at ignoring the snide little comments that most of the shapeshifters sent his way. In fact it was usually only Seth that had anything pleasant to say. Though Jacobs thoughts had tempered down more recently what with his attachment with Renesmee. However he grinned when Leah called him 'Sparkle boy."
"Sparkle boy, huh. You know I kinda like that."
He gave a musical chuckle as he thought over what terms they should have. He was determined to make it a fair race in everyway. Which meant Leah had to be well rested and both had to be well fed.
"Okay how about this, the race can be in two days from now. Well start from the edge of the clearing from the house, head to the baseball field and then come back." That way the race would be about stamina as well as speed. "We'll have one of my kind and one of your kind situated at different spots along the way so that it can be shown that neither of us are cheating."
It would also liven up the betting that Edward was sure would take place between the two different kinds as well as amoung them.

"Sparkle boy, huh. You know I kinda like that."
'Good, get used to hearing it.' Leah snapped back thinking he was saying that just to annoy her. It worked. He went on talking, and she waited this time with out interrupting. She thought for a moment. He was going to count on his freaky vampie stamina to win. It was a long race and she could do it, and fast but with that long of a distance, he would have upper hand.
The dead didn't get tired. 'Planed this in your favor did ya.'

Edward shook his head, he had been trying to make this fair for both of them. He should have known that Leah would always think the worst of him. "If you are not happy with anything it is all open for change. What is it that you would prefer to make it more fair in your eyes?"

Leah gave a snort and turned and walked away, giving him a mental 'Hold on one moment'. Leah also mentally thought that if that freak read her mind while she was doing this, she was going to eat him. Or hide a very important body part.
Once she was out of site. Leah phased and dressed, in the boxers and tank top she keep tired around her leg, before walking back to sparkle boy. Picking up where she left out, "What's not fair about it? Your distance. Your counting on that the that the dead don't tire out. Your putting things in your favor."

Edward let Leah have a few moments for herself focusing on something else while she changed. As she walked forward in human form and spoke her piece he frowned.
"Actually I was trying to do things in your favor. Vampires usually have their fastest speed at the beginning and then continue to slow slightly as the distance continues and they get weaker." He didn't comment on exactly what that distance was. "From what I understood wolves generally build up speed over a certain distance.
He folded his arms in a movement so quick it was a blur to Leah. "Okay if you are not happy with the distance we can just make it to the clearing or I am happy to go with what you suggest.

Leah thought he was lieing over the vampires getting weaker. As far as she knew, they were always strong and fast. She wondered how to get this type of information from him, so she could use it when hunting leached. She wondered, in her head, how best to phrase things in order to seem like she was asking for the race.
The she remembered he could read her mind. Damn it! Oh well, so much for being subtle. "I thought sparkle boys don't get weaker. Only hungrier."

"Hunger is a weakness Lear." Edward remarked with a raised eyebrow. "But don't expect me to reveal all our weaknesses to you as I'm still not sure you won't turn it against my family."
He frowned again. "Besides you are either stalling or getting cold feet about the race. So again, what are the conditions you would prefer for the race?"

"I wouldn't attack a Cullen unless they made the first move." Leah snapped back. "Not all of us are slaves to things we can't control. I happen to be able to control my actions." If not her emotions and temper. "I wasn't stalling, I was making a point!"
Leah glared at him. "In distance and in the water, vampires have the advantage. You don't get tied, like the ones of us who still have a heart beating. Your like that damn bunny on TV that keeps going and going and going."

Edward gave a small sigh. "Are you this difficult with everyone or are you doing it specifically with me?"
He shook his head and leaned against a tree. He was perfectly comfortable where he had been but he figured this was going to take longer then he thought and he still had to act human. "I get it you don't like the distance, when will you get to the alternative choice that you would prefer."
