The wind rustled gently in the skin, leaves brushing against each other. Thick, gray storm clouds were covering the Texas sun, an extremely rare thing. Deline sat in the forest, her amber eyes shut as she leaned against a tree. Her fire red hair whipped around in the breeze, and her pale skin stood out clearly against the dark wood of the tree. She listened to the area around her. She could hear many sounds, some of them she had gotten used to. The leaves rustling against each other, and quick heartbeats of various small animals scattered around the forest. The beautiful, young vampire stood up gracefully. She opened her dark, amber eyes. She felt as if she was being watched, and wasn't alone. Dede listened carefully, at the moment very grateful to have heightened senses. She didn't move, and was extremely cautious to make absolutely no sound as she listened. She could hear many things, but nothing out of the usual of what she had heard earlier. She listened for perhaps a heartbeat, slower than the bird's in the trees high above. Of course, it wasn't really that high. She could climb up that high easily, and not even get hurt from jumping down. She looked around slowly, trying to see if any vampires were out here. None were in her site range, unless they were hiding from her. She wondered why they would hide, though. Finally, Delina heard what she had been waiting for. To her right, most likely ten yards back, a twig cracked. She turned around, and saw no animal. She inhaled deeply, and could tell there was a vampire there. It was a good smell, but most definitely not in the food kind of way. There were also no deer, elk, or mountain lions that it could possibly be. Not that she was scared of any of those, they would probably hurt themselves more than they could ever hurt her. "Who's there?" She called out. tagged ;; maria!

Maria never approached a vampire with out knowing what she was getting into. She planned, and plotted, and calculated. Learning every detail she could about everyone, and before approaching them, and giving them only a side of her self. Not let them learn to much. When she was ready, her attack came swift, sure, and fatal.
Which was why she felt pure annoyance while watching the girl vampire, and a stick behind her snapped. Maria turned slowly to look behind her as a few hundred yards off, a raccoon ran from her deadly scent. She turned her attention back the the girl vampire and walked closer. She made sure to keep to the shadows, so she would been seen, but not well. "It is just I. The owner of the lands you trespassing on." Maria knew the girl, or the human version of her. From a memory, so very long ago.

Deline narrowed her eyes to the female vampire. She seemed vaguely familiar, but she could not place a name to the face. She searched through her blurry memories, they flew through her head at an unknown pace. She pressed her lips in a thin line. She was rather certain that this land had no deed, though wasn't at the same time since she was not quite sure where she was. She crouched down defensively, letting her rather short hair fall into her face. She was not planning on attacking the vampire, but at the same time was not going to let her attack her.
The wind blew more roughly, as if it was an omen. Deline thought there was something off about her. Something about this woman was screaming dangerous. She was brave, or so she thought, and did not fear many things. But the things she did fear could not harm her. But she had a feeling another vampire was perfectly capable of hurting her. Though, she wasn't sure about killing her. She didn't even know if a vampire could die, but if they could, she had a feeling that it was a vampire that could kill her.
"Do you even have a deed to the land?" Deline challenged, hoping, no praying, that she did not. That would be rather embarrassing, but she couldn't blush to show her embrassment. That was a plus, but she realized how expressive her eyes could be. That was probably one of the reasons her friends had always beat her in poker, or really any card game. She could feel the frown playing at her lips, but kept her lips in a perfectly straight line. She wouldn't show any expression across her face if she could help it.

Maria watched her. She didn't know what a deed was, but she knew territory lines, and the vampire was in Maria's territory. Maria gave a soft chuckle, that she knew the vampire would hear. For a vampire, Maria's voice was lower then most, more sultry, but still higher and musical sounding than any humans. "Now now dearest, there is no need to get snippy with your host." Maria watched her, knowing some but not enough about her. "Then again, perhaps I should be welcoming you home rather then ordering you to leave? It has been a few years. I see you manged not to get your self killed." Very promising.

When Maria didn't answer Deline's question, she had two answers of her own for why she didn't respond to it. The first was that she did not have one, and had too much pride to admit it. The second one was that she had not been educated very well, and therefore did not know what one was. She would have loved to believe her first assumption was correct, but she had no way to tell. Though, she could feel a smirk coming upon her face. She did not dare smirk though, not sure what her reaction would have been.
Deline listened carefully. "Of course I'm alive. Just because I was abandoned doesn't mean I'm ignorant!" She all but snarled towards her. She hated it, absolutely hated it, when people underestimated her. She then realized what she had said. Home? This was not her home. Her home was in Austin with her friends surrounding her. That was impossible though, since she hadn't aged for a while. "What do you mean, 'home'?" She questioned her. She knew that this vampire was familiar, but she had been changed by a male, not a female. This was impossible.

Maria let out a low chuckle. One that seem to fill the little place around them. Oh this was grant. She didn't know? Or was she just slow minded? Either way Maria could see why she had not taken the new vampire into her army. Weakest link. Not worth the training it would take to make her strong. "Were you not turned, just miles from here?" Maria thought so. They were in Texas and for a vampire, that was with in the 'just miles' category. She could recall the night the new born snapped and went on feeding fest. Maria had killed him for the trouble, waste of all that blood! Horrible.
Now here was the aftermath of that night come back home. What use would she be? None mostlikly. Still the girl would have to be killed if she learned what Maria was planning not to very far away. Far enough that she would not hear or smell any newborns but close enough that they could be here to fight should the need arise.

Deline sighed. She knew that, she was not an idiot. But this was not her home. It never would be. Her home was in Austin, many miles north from here. She ran her long, pale fingers through her hair. She knew that this woman would probably think that she was an idiot, probably a slow thinker. She was the exact opposite. She was extremely intelligent, with an astronomical IQ. Her friends had always teased her about being a quick thinking nerd. She did not really mind being smart, it could even be fun at times. Especially using geekness to be sly.
"Yes, I know that. But this is not my home, and never will be. Besides, you did not even change me so you should you be aware of that?" Deline asked suspiciously. Options flew through her head. Had she killed her friends that she had not seen drained and lifeless? She swore to get revenge on whoever killed her friends and screwed up her life. "We were camping, obviously. We were many miles south of where we lived." She explained quickly. She wondered what part this vampire had had in her vampirism. Was that why she recognized her, but not easily?

"I can imagine. . . " Maria said softly, but knew the girl would hear. "A night spent with friends, a man enters and more quickly then you can keep up with moves from friend to friend. Biting them, some on the neck, some on the shoulder, some on the arms. Draining them and leaving them either screaming, or dead." Maria sounded amused. "And then-" Her voice whiched to being shocked and amazed but unlike her other emotions you could tell this one was fake, "More of them come, quickly and amazingly fast to pull him away and burn him on the spot. . . . only to leave the one last scream human girl. . . alive and screaming." Maria gave a chuckle, a deep yet musical sound that was about the same one she had given standing over the screaming girl that night years ago.
"As I said, welcome home." Meaning to Maria, not the city.

Deline was having some difficulty controlling her anger. She debated in her head whether or not to lunge for the vampire's throat. She listened to her story, surprised slightly by the incredible accuracy. How did she know all about her death? Well, technically it was death, since her heart was not beating. She took a silent, deep breath. Was she one of the vampires who left her withering in pain? For days, how many she did not know, for death nearly every second. The anger inside her was building. She knew she had a scary glare as a human, she could only imagine how ferocious she looked rght now.
"You little..." Deline cursed, something she rarely did. Then, she lunged for Maria's throat.

Maria was not frighten. She had spent years and years and years and Y-e-a-r-s working with newborns who were faster, and stronger. She knew how to react. She waited for the last moment, turned her body and attacked from the side. She stopped after the first wave to look down at the girl. "Now, now. There is no need for a hissy fit." She said slowly as if amused and annoyed at the same time.

The impact from the side had surprised her, and Deline kicked Maria as hard as she could in the gut. She snarled at her words. No need for a hissy fit? No freaking need for a hissy fit! She could think of so many reasons to throw a hissy fit, and this was not even what she considered a hissy fit. "Shut the heck up." Oh, how she wished to sink down low enough to curse at her aloud. Instead, she just screamed vulgar words at her in her head, her eyes narrowed. A small smirk came across heed face.
"It's a shame I came across Aro before I found you, Maria." Deline curled her nose at the name. "He stated my memories from that night just might be enough to have you destroyed. I guess it's a good thing I found you again." She smiled a cruel, emotionless smile towards her. She had no mercy for this girl, and was fairly sure that she never would. This woman would have taken away her life as a vampire if she had stayed, but instead just left her.

Her deep chuckle came out slow, "Oh, I highly doubt he said as much, as if it were enough, Aro would have done it already. As it is, even if you showed him the memories, it is not enough, I assure you." Maria asked sounding highly amused at that thought. The silly little vampire thought to toss out threats of the Volturi. The thought alone made Maria chuckle, allowed. How quaint. How charming, and how completely unoriginal. As if Maria had not heard that threat before.
The HUMAN memories of a new coven vampire getting out of control, and being stopped and killed? There was no proof of anything else from that night, as Maria never used the words allowed, or made the public actions that could be traced to her having an army.
THAT was of course why her and Aro had such a odd friendship. She pretend to behave and humor him on her visits to his city, and Aro never touched her. Never read her mind. Never. "I will have to tell him I crossed paths with you then, when I see him next in a month or so. Aro love to hear silly little tells. . . especially when silly little girls use his name as threats so freely." Reputation to Aro was everything.

- - - - - - - - - -"Oh, I highly doubt he said as much, as if it were enough, Aro would have done it already. As it is, even if you showed him the memories, it is not enough, I assure you." Deline could tell that Maria seemed rather cocky about her army. She was not an idiot, and could tell that she was doubting her. That wasn't a smart thing to do.
"I will have to tell him I crossed paths with you then, when I see him next in a month or so. Aro love to hear silly little tells. . . especially when silly little girls use his name as threats so freely." Silly. Little. Girl. Deline resisted the urge to lunge for her once again, hardly restraining herself. She could picture herself to clearly ripping off Maria's head.
"That wasn't a threat, Maria. If the Volturi don't kill you, I will find a way to end you. No matter how much time it takes...I can always find some of your old troups." Deline said. Her words gave the impression that she knew much more than she actually did, which was true. She hid her lack of knowledge well in her face.
