Leah Clearwater was a girlie girl. She wore her hair long, and boots that came to her knees. You knew they went to her knees because her skirt did not. She wore a long shelve white dress shirt that could have been a small mans, and a plain black vest over it.
Girlie girls, did not do very well in shop class.
Which is why, Leah was going to fail unless she somehow managed to build a bird house that could make a bird sign for joy at being allowed to move in. With that goal in mind, Leah put on her safety goggles and took her wood over to the over sized cutting machine. . . thing. (QUIL)

Quil LOVED shop class! He was a guy after all, and what guy did not like to use machines to tear things apart and show off their masculinity. Of course...a lot of the other students were guys as well so though there were no females to show off in front of, it was still fun. Quil's assumption was completely wrong, for when he stepped inside the class, the first thing his eyes rested on was a woman. One he recognized of course...here in La Push, everyone knew everyone. That didn't necessarily mean they were friends, but they at least knew of them.
He smiled as he looked at her. Leah Clearwater. A vision indeed. He walked up to her, rather confidently (perhaps a little too confidently) and cleared his throat, while he slightly leaned against the machine. "Need some help there?" He asked. Clearly, he was attempting to demonstrate his strength in front of her. It would be the first step if he wanted to eventually get to asking her out....which was something he did want to do. Older women were SO much better than ones his age or younger. They were more mature...sometimes, they were easier to please.

Leah looked up at the voice and almost groaned allowed. She knew of this guy but at the moment she couldn't think of this name. It was something weird and overly native like white people expected.
However she didn't know how to turn the machine on and use it, and even if she did she was not risking life and limb for a bird house for a D in a class which by all rights shouldn't be allowed in school. "Depends. . . Do you know what your doing or are you just going to ruin my bird house and my day?"

Quil grinned. "Trust me, I never ruin anyone's day." ....That might be a matter of opinion. "I'll actually have you know that I got an A in this class right now. I don't like to brag or anything, but building things is sort of...my thing. I was born to do it, kinda like...natural talent you know?" Bull. Complete bull. Quil had no idea if he had an A in this class...and he certainly had no natural talent in building things...but since when were guys honest about what they can't do in front of a hot woman.
"The switch is over here," he said going towards it but not turning it on. "It makes a lotta noise...be careful." He was just trying to show that he could be protective...it really wasn't that dangerous. "I'm Quil by the way," he said casually, expecting her to respond the same way...even though he already knew her name.

Leah looked over at the switch and wondered if he would push it. He seemed more into bragging about not bragging and talking about him self then he was into helping her. She nodded her head slowly with a small smile, since she still needed his help even if he is full of hot air. "It's ok, I ma used to working around things that make a ton of pointless sounds." Mainly teenage boys like him.

He did end up pushing the button for her...he wanted to help her as much as he could so that he could impress her, which would make it that more likely that she would say yes when he asked her out. "So what kind of design are you interesting in making for your project?" Did she have any of the dimensions? ....Quil didn't care. He was just trying to sound smart. It was important to show off ones maturity when conversing with an older woman.

Leah looked up at him as the machine turned on. "Five square blocks with a hole in the middle of one of them." She said letting him know she did not have plans, deigns, or a care about them. She held up one of her boards she had to cut and it had expertly drawn lines on them and notes like 'Cut here' and 'don't cut your hand' and 'keep clothes away from cutting area' and below that one. in smaller font 'that means, wear something tight'. Sam had 'cheated' and drawn them for her.

He smiled looking at her template. "Don't worry. I'll help you with everything," he said confidently. "You'll ace this class....." And then he would impress her and ask her out. "Soo...Leah, right?" He asked, since she didn't offer her name, he was going to make their conversation less school oriented, and turn it into small talk. "I know your brother pretty well." He didn't really....they were completely different ages but he saw him around and he wasn't exactly on bad terms with him.

"Yeah," She said when he asked her name and didn't ask his back. Mainly because she knew it and also that would encourage small talk. When he went on however she decided to toy with him a bit. "Oh, Your in my baby brother's grade?" She asked using the words meant to make Seth sound VERY young and loop mouth in with it. She smiled. "That's so cute. You and my little brother being friends. You should got over to the house and hang out with him some time. You can watch cartoons and Mom can make you some juice."
Leah knew she was laying it on thick but really. . . it was so much fun to make them talk in circles trying to get into trouble and out of trouble at the same time.

Quil could either act spazzy and deny the whole things...or he could stay suave and explain to her that he wasn't best friends with her younger brother. He chose the latter. No woman liked a spazzy guy. "Actually, I just seen him around...we talk some times. I try to help the small guy when I can you know?" He was going to make a comment about how he doesn't have an older brother, but did not want to risk upsetting her about anything. Quil had heard that Leah was high maintenance....were those rumors true? "You inviting me over?" He asked, with a bit of a flirty smile as he casually leaned against the machined with one hand.

"I invited you over, sure." She said and smiled, "Seth would love someone to watch that sponge bob show with him. Since you to are 'friends' Mom wouldn't mind." Leah also knew she wouldn't be their. She spend most her time either on the beach (with Sam) or at Sam's house (with Sam).
Leah knew that he could be using Seth to get to her, and maybe the devil made her say this next part, but it was just so fun to watch him talk his way out of things. "Seths little friends are just so cute when trying to pretend to be big kids."

Quil was not a kid! Just because he was a little young than her...not too much younger of course. The fact that she was older than him was part of the reason he was so attracted to her, and therefore hitting on her. He would have to prove to her that he was mature enough for her to go out with him. "Trust me....little kids don't play with machines like this baby right here," he said, putting his hand on the machine they were going to use to make the birdhouse. "Bet your brother doesn't know how to use this." He was really just saying that to show the age difference. Her brother was young, yes, so he would have to take another angle with the whole 'i know your brother' thing.

Leah was willing to bet that he didn't know how to use it it either. "What's this called again?" She asked and tilted her head as if she didn't know. She wouldn't have known if the teacher had not told her a few moments ago. Leah watched him waiting for him to either own up to bluffing or do that funny thing and talk his way out of this and into more trouble.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
"Thank you for joining us Mr. Moran."
Paul ignored teacher's remark and just entered the class, making his way to an available machine. He did not care if he was late . . . since when was he ever on time. At least this class required less brain power and it was all about how well you could build something. Paul was interested in going into construction, so this class for him would be a breeze. He held up a piece of wood and was about to get started quickly, so that he could finish quickly, when he became distracted by a familiar voice.
He looked towards the source of the familiarity and saw Leah Clearwater. But she was by herself . . . she was with someone else. What was his name? Quintin? Quary? Qail? QAIL! That's what it was. Weird kid with a weird name. Paul looked at him and saw the way he was looking at Leah, and the way he was standing. Paul was a guy, and so he knew what it looked like when a guy was trying to pick up a girl. Wow. Did he know who Leah was? Apparently not, otherwise he never would have tried to hit on her.
Paul could not resist. He put down the piece of wood and made his way over to the two of them. "Well well, isn't this adorable. You two make such a cute couple."

Embry was planning on skipping Shop Class today, he didn't think it would really matter if he was there of not. Building a bird house was useless to him. But he knew that if he skipped, he'd run into a teacher or something worse (he always did). So he just ended up being late for class, and he wasn't very happy about it. Yeah, he was good in the class, but he felt pretty stupid building the simple things the teacher told them to make. He wanted to make other things, chanlenging things.
Embry sighed as he walking into the class room, ignoring the teacher -- wether he spoke to him or not. When he looked up and around the room, he saw Quil, of course. But Leah was there and so was Paul. Emb walked over to them a little confused. "What's happening Quil?" He asked lightheartedly, smaking Quil in the back playfully as he did often. Leah had been watching Quil, but then the teacher spoke up annoyed at someone coming in late she smiled. Oh good. Someone with less brains then Quil, but more motivation. The perfect guy to do her project for her, rather then talk to her while they 'helped her' fail the project.
When Paul, spoke before hand, she give him a glare. She was about to explain the Quil thing but then Quil's friend came up and . . . . backed him on his ass? Leah decided that was cue to exit before they held hands. "Paaaauuulllll." She moaned in stressed, "Will you cut my wood for me? I have it marked off." Sam had marked it off, but let him think she had done parts of the work. Paul was a friend of Sam's. Leah wasn't sure why they were friends, Paul was more juvenile and goofy then Sam, but in a small town you had limited options.

--------------------------------------------------------------------Paul looked at some other guy join the group. . . the group that Paul no longer wanted to be a part of. "You sure you want me to do it, and not one of your admirers there?" He asked, chuckling at Quil's expression and Embry's curiosity. Paul did not however wait for an answer from Leah. He took her board and looked at the markings on it. "Nice work here," he said sarcastically. He knew her well enough to know that this was not her forte, so Sam or Billy must have helped her. "Move aside kids," he said, referring to Embry and Quil since he was too lazy to drag the board all the way back to his work station. He would just use the machine that they were all around.

"Aren't yyoouu one of my admirers, Paul?" Leah asked with a smile, she didn't like Paul that way (He tended to be more brainless and play off his looks) but he was one Sam's friends and Leah planned to be Mrs. Uley before long so she often hung out with his friends. She looked at the younger to 'kids' and shook her head. "If he cuts off his finger, I am leaving the room, so one of you need to apply pressure and the other get the teacher."
