The grey wolf jumped up on a rock and put her noise to it before lifting her head and giving a sneeze. 'UGH! Vampire!' She coughed in her head. 'It's a few days old, not fresh.' Part of her wanted to find a fresh trail and tip into a vampire but the larger part just wanted to go bad to La Push and protect the town.
She wasn't willing to join Sam's pack to do it however. She liked being on Jacob's pack. It was easy to forget about her past when she didn't have to share a mind with Sam. Jumping down from the rock she started running her line again looking for a scent that suggested the evil vamps had not left. So far nothing. Jacob let out a pleased bark, mentally laughing at Leah 'Suck it in, get used to it,' he said, himself trying to sniff out any trace of fresh vampire stench. Nothing. All he found was either the smell of the Cullens or the faint smell of a nomadic vampire, who had passed here days before. Nothing special, nothing that would be any threat in the future - hopefully. The point was really that there were no vampires around 'That's good, keep up the good work' He told Leah. He would rather want them, her and Seth, to return safely to Sam's pack, to the whole gang. He wouldn't shoo them away now though as they had already broken out of the pack and was now a part of his pack.
The two, Leah and Jake, kept on patroling. Seth was napping, he deserved a little rest - he had worked pretty hard these last couple of days and he was still young. He really wanted to help because he didn't see the Cullens as enemies.. They were friends, to him that was. Jacob guessed they were kind of his friends to, considering that Bella was now married to the mind-reading freak. He shook his giant head, reminding himself to be nice, ugh it was just so hard to be nice when it came to mortal enemies and when that bloodsucking leach had gotten Bella pregnant with a demon child.
'Leah, I think that's enough for today.. Go back and get some rest.' He thought, pleased with Leahs work. She was quite so good having in a pack and she wasn't that bad after all. He guessed, being away from Sam and the memories made her a lot less angry. He would never say that to her though, he wouldn't want to give her ego a boost.

he didn't have to say it to her, when he thought it, even in the back of his mind, Leah heard it. She didn't comment on it. Not wanting to get into a deep conversation at the moment about her past. 'I am not tired. I've only been up half a day.' Besides, it's not like she could just go and change clothes and hang out with friends. She had cut all ties to the people of La Push when she joined Jake's pack. Her mother not included. While Leah still wanted to protect them, she couldn't see her self going back to her old life.
'i think the bloodsuckers are really gone.' She sat down were she was a few miles from where ever Jake was running. 'Are you going to keep looking or go back and play house?' She didn't mean it as an insult. Not a real bad one anyway. She was glad he imprinted and his head was so dark and scary now. Now they could both move on.

Jacob stuck his furry head out of a bush, sniffing the air, and then pulled away again. 'Yeah well, I'm tired,' He thought, shrugging slightly 'But I've been awake most nights now, so I guess that would be pretty normal' He shrugged his huge shoulders again, and then turned and made his way in Leah's direction. The last couple of days he hadn't slept.. Why? - Nessie, was the reason why. He was concerned and wanted to be on guard all the time, she had to be safe 24/7. He was afraid to go to sleep - afraid that something would happen over night and he wouldn't be awake to prevent it from happening, or helping at least. He felt almost crazy, this imprinting stuff had always seemed pretty crazy to him, but he was happy now. He could finally get over Bella, no more suffocating. It was great, and he loved Renesmee more then anything in his life.
'You're right, I think too.. We better keep an eye out for them though, they could return.. We'll keep on patroling' He said, running along a trail 'Actually, I was really hoping to get a nap now.. I envy your brother' He said, suddenly jumping out of a bush not to far away from her. He smiled to her, an impish kind of smile and barked at her.

Leah knew he was close but when he jumped out and barked she side stepped and growled. Jacob was more and more like her brother every day. Not like Seth but like someone she thought of like a brother. She'd never tell him that but, she knew he would know. You didn't hide things when in wolf form. Couldn't hide things. 'Real grown up there, moron.' She said but with out real anger or heat. She called him moron the say way she called Seth a pest. It was more of a nickname then something meant to hurt. 'So nap then. I can keep an look out. I can't sleep much lately. Every time I do I see more of them Leaches marching at us.'
Nightmares. It was an odd thing for her to have. She should be used to all this war and fighting and defending your town but at night, the panic of that day came back. It was fading with time and she knew she would give over it, and move on but it still bothered her, at how many had gotten so close to La Push. To her Mother . . . . Who was apparently getting cozy and close to Charlie Swan. Annoyingly close. If things keep up and went where Leah thought they were heading, then Leah would become Ness' Step-Aunt. Bella's Step sister. Related by marrage to the Cullens.
She wasn't sure she approved of the connection, but she wanted her Mother to be happy and had not found it in her to disapprove of Charlie. He was a good guy.
