It had been a long drive, but at the speed they traveled at, they were there quicker than a normal person. Time was of the essence, and the sooner they got there, they sooner they would be able to stay out of harm's way. Jasper, was of course confident that they would succeed but an event like this called for concern . . . inevitable concern.
This whole experience was going to be very interesting. Edward was entrusting him and Alice to protect Bella, and he fully comprehended [and felt] his hesitation to let Bella go somewhere without him. None the less . . . they would protect her to their best ability and that was surely enough. Still, it was strange. Jasper had never spend this sort of time with Bella. He had barley spoken to her since this incident and chaos with James arose. Funny how things worked out.
And here they were: Phoenix. When they had pulled into a decent motel room, near the airport he got out of the car and him and Alice took Bella to a room. She had been asleep which of course was good. She needed as much rest as she could get. Jasper had not slept in years . . . over a century. He did not even remember the feeling of being asleep. What a human thing to do indeed.
To pass the time, he turned on the television and stared at it without really absorbing any information. He just watched it blankly. There was nothing else to do really. They were to remain inside to wait for the phone call. Jasper also had to keep a safe distance from Bella. Though he was getting used to her . . . it still was not easy to be so close to her. He recalled on the first day, planning to kill her. The temptation of the scent of her blood had been great. But no . . . Jasper had to believe he had enough self control to stop himself from doing anything. The fact that Alice suggested him and her take Bella gave him the confidence that he needed. The reassurance that Alice had not foreseen anything . . . nothing of him attacking Bella.
He continued to sit on the couch.

Bella woke up and looked around her. She was in a hotel room she barely remembered getting here. She stretched and got out of the bed she wonder briefly how long she had been out, but shrugged as she went into the larger room where Jasper was sitting watching the TV. He looked to still be watching.
She wonder how Edward was doing, was he safe? She also wondered about the others hoping they were all unharmed and that this horrible nightmare would be over with soon.
Bella took a seat father away from Jasper she knew he was still uncomfortable around her. She didn't want to make things any harder than they already were.

Jasper heard her . . . and smelled her. He did not turn away from the television screen however, even when she understandingly took a seat at a bit of a distance from him. It was interesting just how understanding she was. How none of this bothered her. How she was keeping her distance from a vampire to benefit the vampire and not herself. So strange. So unheard of. So . . . unfamiliar.
"Did you sleep well?" He asked, filling the silence with concern. Though he still looked at the screen, his attention was fully rested on Bella.

"Yes I did, Bella replied looking at Jasper. She wasn't to sure what to say to him she didn't know him as well as the others. Her thoughts went back to others who were hunting James and Victoria she shivered at the thought. She wasn't worth this she wouldn't ever forgive herself one of the got hurt.
She tried to push these thoughts and feelings away so Jasper wouldn't have to sense her feelings. "Has anyone called?" Bella asked hopeful for some good news.

"Do not feel that way Bella. I have told you before that you are worth it." He looked at her, a kind but small smile on his lips. He may feel weak around her, but that did not mean he should not reassure her when she feeling things that are not true. He turned his gaze back to the television when she asked her next question.
"No. Not yet. Do not worry." He understood that was easier said than done, but once again, he felt the need to comfort her in such a stressful time. "Alice ordered some food for you. It is sitting on the table. You should eat something."

Bella knew Jasper was trying to reassure her, but she couldn't help but worry. Bella walked over to the table and nibbled on some food. She was hungry and she sat there for a little while eating a little bit of food.
When she finished eating she was sure on what to do. Jasper seemed find just sitting and watching TV, but Bella felt like she should do something. She walked around the room memorizing the pattern on the wall, shifting from sitting to standing.

Bella's obvious anxiety did not make Jasper feel uncomfortable. It made him feel a little bad for her however. Maybe he should help her out . . . would that be too deceitful to her; to shower her with artificial emotions so that she would be more relaxed? Jasper did not do such a thing, not yet. She seemed to be doing well considering the circumstances.
"We should remain inside at all times," he told her. That probably wasn't the thing she wanted to hear right now, but he may as well tell her. It was an important fact, though she may already know there was no harm in reminding her.

Bella nodded her head in understanding. She took a seat on the couch and tried to watch the TV. She didn't find in interest in it, but it gave her something to do. She tried to focus on the TV trying to make her thoughts not focus on the others. She was growing impatient wondering if they should have heard something from the other by now or not.
"Do you think the others should have called by now?" Bella asked she wasn't sure how long it had been since they left Forks, but seemed like a long, long time.

Jasper shook his head. "No. But Alice has not seen anything either. All must be well. Do not worry Bella. They are just being careful. I am sure we will hear from them soon." Others were far better at this than him. He was not good at verbally comforting people. That was why he relied on his special ability to do so. "You still look tired. Perhaps you should get some more rest. We will wake you if anything happens."

Bella nodded her head if something had changed she knew Alice would have picked it up. She was a little tired, "I think I will get some rest. Bella smiled at Jasper before she went to the bed room. She tried to find a comfortable position and didn't know how long she had stayed up, but finally sleep over took her. It was a dreamless exhausted from the day and the worrying.

Good. The more rest she got the better. Jasper simply nodded. When she was out of sight, he looked at the bedroom door before turning blankly back at the screen. Humans were so delicate. Had he really been like that at some point in his life? It was hard to imagine. He did not remember many of the human sensations . . . instead of feeling hunger for food, he felt hunger for blood. Instead of feeling tired to sleep, he felt tired from controlling himself. It was a strange thing indeed. He had almost forgotten such things, until he met Bella and witnessed her human patterns.
[Shall we bring Alice into this thread at some point? I suppose it would make sense to have her here with them.]

[That sounds like a good idea, maybe she could post next if you wanted her too.]
Bella woke up again she just stayed still not looking at the time. This pattern was getting old fast she hated waiting. She wanted this wait to be over with she wanted James to be in the past someone none of them had to worry about.
She sat up finally and stood up. She looked at herself in the mirror she was a mess she grabbed her things and took a quick shower. She felt a little better, but still worried. She walked into the other room wondering what Alice and Jasper were doing.

It had been a long trip. Especially when you didn't know when something bad was going to happen. Of course, it had not been long in that particular sense to Alice. She had spent the time staring out of the window, and flashing reassuring smiles towards both Bella and Jasper, as if to say that she had not 'seen' bad lately. She had the sneaking suspicion that they were both waiting for her to have some feeling of that kind...
Once they had arrived at the motel and Bella had settled down for some sleep, Alice had slipped out of the room to gather some food for Bella, figuring that she would get hungry at some point...
It had taken longer than she had originally thought. It had been more than 100 years since she had really bought any kind of food, besides at the Forks High cafeteria, so it proved harder than she thought it would be. She had spent about half an hour confusing the cashier at the nearest quick stop, paying almost too much for the food, and almost accidentally walking out with one bag of chips.
She heaved a sigh of relief when the room door came into her view. Gripping the plastic bag loosely in her small hand, she turned the doorknob and crossed the threshold, smiling as her husband came into view first. She then directed her smile towards Bella as she spotted her walking into the room.
"I got you some food." She said simply, dropping the bag into the nearest chair, happy to be rid of it finally. She then sank down into the sofa beside Jasper. "How are you feeling now?" A tone of care was behind her question.
[meh, hope that's okay! sorry it took so long! ^^ ]

"I'm alright," Bella answered honestly. She was doing fine, but still wasn't great. She was worried about the others wondering why they hadn't called yet. Bella got some of the food Alice had brought for her and took a few bites. She looked at Alice and Jasper, "There hasn't been any calls has there?" Bella asked a little hopeful.

Jasper kept his gaze at the television, continuing to distract himself from the fact that a human was very close. "No calls yet," he answered in an expressionless voice. He did not want to suggest that that was a bad thing . . . or a good thing. He leaned a little closer to Alice, wanting to be as close to her as possible because he knew she would keep him composed and give him the strength he desperately needed. "Nothing new has developed," he added. "But that does not mean that something went wrong. It simply means that it is not safe for them to contact us yet."

Alice nodded. She had wished to get Bella something more appatising, but of course in her opinion that was blood. Bella would cringe if she broght that back. A rather vacant smile was on the small pixie-like girl's face as she listened to Jasper respond to Bella. Again nodding, Alice noticed that her love scotted closer to her. As quick as she was, Alice stared up at Jasper for about a second. Her stare was not hurtful, or willing him to move back. She sat, then smiled widely as she understood.
Scotting a little futhur towards her husband, Alice put her chin on his shoulder, her amber eyes looking straight into his, the smile still on her face.

Jasper returned Alice's gaze. It was the first time he had looked away from the television, though he had no interest in it. Feeling her closer to him allowed him to gain the confidence to look elsewhere. He knew this was going to be uncomfortable for Bella . . . Edward was not here to comfort her and Jasper knew all too well how it felt to be missing your loved one when you needed them to console you.
Jasper hesitantly turned back to the television, putting his arm around Alice. She was calm. That obviously made him calm as well. Perhaps Alice would be better at reassuring Bella than he was. She was skilled at that . . . he would leave it up to her.

Bella looked at Alice and Jasper. She listened closely to what Jasper said. It wasn't safe from them to contact them. She frowned sitting on the couch. James' was close to them and this worried her she didn't want any of them to get hurt over her. She wasn't worth it. Jasper had said she was, but she was just some human how could she be worth it? Bella nodded her head and looked at the TV it wasn't very interesting, but what else was their to do, but to wait?

When Bella came closer . . . he could feel the worthlessness from her. He took his eyes from the television and allowed them to rest on Bella. It was perhaps the first time in their entire trip that he was really looking at her. His next words were spoken with sincerity and without an ounce of reluctance or lack of confidence. "Bella, I know what you are feeling right now, and you are worth it," he said. He was certain she was worth it. "You are part of this family," he added. Though he himself never felt entirely comfortable around her . . . he still considered her to be family. "You are worth it," he assured once again.

[thanks for saving me, i had no idea what to put!]
Pulling her gaze from Jasper as he spoke, Alice added, "I'm sure they'll call any time now. And Jasper's right, Bella." Not wanting to sound cheesey and overstating 'you are worth it', Alice left that part out. For some reason, Alice could not advert her gaze from Bella. The TV was uninteresting, and with her feeling this way, it was hard not to feel sorry for her. Stretching her arms out to Bella, Alice demanded a hug. It might help, or it might not. Either way Bella needed to know she was worth protecting, and fighting for. Edward would not quit until he thought she was safe enough, how could she honestly think he didn't care for her? They didn't care for her?

Bella tried to smile a little at Jasper's words they were comforting. But still the others could get hurt, and if they did she would never forgive herself. She wasn't worth them getting hurt, or worse. When Bella saw Alice stretch out her arms for a hug Bella walked over to her and gave her, her demanded hug. She hoped being so close to Jasper wouldn't bother him to much. "Maybe you're right," Bella said smiling a bit more.

Jasper had to constantly remind himself that they were here to protect Bella . . . the thoughts of how delicious . . . no no, Jasper could not go there. He would remain calm. Composed. Self controlled. He turned his gaze elsewhere as they embraced in a comforting hug. He gave a small smile. "You do not entirely believe me." He was not accusing her for lying . . . he was simply just vocalizing the detection of doubt he sensed from her.

Bella nodded her head, "What if one of them get hurt?" Bella questioned. "I don't want them to get hurt because of me," she couldn't imagine any of them fighting off the dangerous looking vampires, James or Victoria. It worried her, she wasn't worth it for them to get hurt. She looked away from Alice and Jasper for a moment, "I just don't want any of them to get hurt because of me."

Alice frowned. Bella wouldn't, or rather, couldn't understand she was worth it. Bella was as stubborn as Alice was! "Bella. Would you fight for Edward if he were in trouble?" The scene of Bella fighting was amusing, and sad at the same time, so the girl's face remained calm and serious. "Or if any of us were in trouble?"

"Yes, I would," Bella answered as soon as Alice asked her the question. Although she doubted she could fight someone off she would most certainly try if any of them were in trouble. She would give it her all to make sure they were safe. Bella understood her point to the question. That they would do anything to make sure she was safe, the same as she would for them.

[time to bring in the scene kicker]
Nodding, Alice responded, "Then give us a chance to do the same." By no means would this lift the uncertainty of battle, and guilt of being the one causing it, but it should give Bella something to dwell on while she waited. A smile returning to Alice's face, she turned to the T.V. There was nothing interesting on, and she stared without seeing.
Suddenly, Alice leaned forward, out of Jasper's hold, grasping at the table blindly for a piece of paper or a napkin. Her head was held high, and straight. "Quick! Give me something to write on!" She demanded, strangely staring straight, still grasping for utensils. There was an urgent tone in her voice, and anyone who knew Alice knew exactly what was going on.

Jasper -- as predicted -- knew that Alice was the better one to comfort Bella. He could say things in relation to what she was feeling, but Alice and Bella had more of a bond than Jasper did with the human and so it was different. Though he was listening to them, he was still looking at the television and was only pulled from that gaze when he felt Alice released herself from his hold and changed her entire demeanor.
Jasper knew exactly what was going on. Within seconds of her request, he returned to her with a pen and notebook and placed it in front of her. He gently put his hand on her shoulder . . . it always concerned him when she received visions such as these. Even more so when the ones in this situation may be too intense and disturbing for her to see. "Alice . . . what do you see?" He asked her in a soft voice, laced with worry.

Alice stopped grasping random things on the table when the notebook and pen was put infront of her. As this was too urgent, she didn't bother to say thank you. She could say that later. Quickly, Alice began drawing a room. The room had an arched ceiling, and many mirriors. Her picture was strangely accurate, and detailed for a hurried sketch. As the vision faded, Alice looked down on her drawing. Racking her brain, she frowned. It didn't look like a room she had ever seen.
Turning to Jasper, she replyed, "This.." The small girl held up the notebook for the others to see. It was obvious she had no idea what it was, other than a room, or a building or something. This disturbed her. She usually was able to figure out her visions right then and there. But this...

Bella recognized the room as soon as Alice showed her. "It's a ballet studio," Bella responded seeing that Alice didn't know what it was. She remembered when she was younger her mother took to take lessons, but she fussed and complained until her mother allowed her to drop out. She wasn't the best with dancing always falling over her own two feet.

When Alice had completed her depiction of her vision, and showed it to him . . . Jasper had no idea what it was of. The unfamiliar location was quickly identified by Bella. If Bella recognized it, and Alice had seen it . . . that must mean that they were getting very close to discovering what exactly was going to happen, and therefore -- more importantly -- how to prevent the worst of it. "You have been there before Bella?" He asked, inquiring the details of this supposed studio.
