The cliffs went straight into the water of the beach, however at low tide, there was a small cove of sand that one could sit on and be surrounded bay rocks, water, and wide open space.
Leah sat there now, on a yoga mat, with her legs folder and back straight, and eyes closed. She breathed slowly trying to think of things that angered her and remain calm. Move past the anger and to inner peace. Inner peace would lead to a werewolf free life.
Her cell phone made a beep beep, beep beep. Sounds and Leah knew the time for trying to reach inner peace was over for the day. Standing, she rolled up her mat and put it in her Yoga bag and then slipped on the bag on her back. Sam would be here soon.
She didn't know if he would come but she hoped so. She felt she owed it to him to tell him first.
Leah had once been a happy, girlly girl who thought of a small wedding and children. She had dressed in cute things more then real life clothes and her biggest worry was prom, and how she was going to style her long hair.
Today, Leah didn't look the part of the prom queen. Taller, leaner, and harder then she had been. She wore loose stretchy pants, a tank top, both dark black matching her sun glasses. Her once long hair, was cut short. Very short. It came to her chin.
Her hair was something of a bitter thing for her. She had refused up till two days ago, to cut it much shorter then an inch below her shoulder. Now it was short. She had embraced the wolf in order to rid herself of it.

Sam padded through the forest, his muscles pulsing with the adrenaline the speed caused. This was the fastest way to travel nowadays, in his wolf form. Though soon he would need to stop phasing entirely, he would need to age. Emily Young, his only love, aged, so would he.
The wind blew through his dark fur as he ran in the direction of First Beach, the local beach that lined the small community of La Push, the place Sam and his pack protected. He was on his way there to meet Leah Clearwater. An ex of not only his but of his pack. It was unusual for him to meet her away from the rest of Jacob's pack, alone. A pulse of adrenaline filled worry pushed him a little bit faster, worrying that maybe something was wrong.
He could now see the edge of the trees, feel the mist filled breeze, smell the salty ocean water. In a blink of an eye he was phased, his clothing pulled on, and he was exiting the cover of the forest. He headed in the direction of the small, hidden cove he had been told to meet at. A line of worry and wonder scrunched his dark brow as he found her. "Hey," he called to her, "You needed to tell me something?"
He was so consumed with the wonder of what could possibly bring Leah here alone, to talk to him, that he almost didn't notice her new, drastic haircut. Though it didn't look bad on her, it was different than what he was used to seeing. "I like the haircut," he added last minute.

Leah ran her hand though her now very short hair and opened her mouth to snap out a bitter comment on habit, but shut it before she could get it out. She gave shrug of her shoulders trying to pretend it wasn't a big deal to her. In truth it was a big deal to her, but she didn't want to get into the details with Sam.
"I am just passing along some news." Leah said carefully, trying to leave emotion out of her voice. Allot had happened, since she had been apart of Sam's pack. So much that she often did not have time to think, much less think of Sam or feel betrayed. With him not in her head to remind her of that all the time, she could forget. Be free. Work on moving on. "The Cullens are going move on soon. They have to for their cover." That had been her excuse, for talking to him. That and her formal good bye.
She would have to tell him she was going with Jake and them. However looking at him from behind her shades, she knew part of her wasn't over Sam Uley. She was still afraid to say good bye.

Folding his arms across his chest he listened to Leah, nodding as she started with saying she was just passing some news between the two packs. He kept his expression controlled, blank, not showing much of any emotion. It was the face he used when he was acting as the pack alpha and the leader.
But as she continued speaking a bit of confusion was made clear on his usually blank face when his dark brow arched. Why would Leah come here alone to tell him that? To tell him the Cullens were leaving? Truthfully, who cared really? Well besides their pack, Jacob's pack. Jacob's pack stood by the Cullen's side, like they were some pet dog, Sam was still a little bitter about that, though the resentment he felt had died a little bit after the fateful day on the clearing. He still couldn't help but feel that he had been betrayed by those that had been in his pack, after all they were spending a lot of their time with the ones they had been made to fight against.
He pushed the bitter thoughts from his mind, trying to figure out why it would matter to either pack what the Cullens did. And then things clicked. Jacob had imprinted on the youngest Cullen.... And certainly he couldn't just watch her leave...he would follow. As would his pack. Despite already having an idea as to what it all meant, Sam found himself asking anyway. "What does it mean?" he asked, keeping his voice void of any underlying emotion.

"It means. . . " Leah trialled off trying to decide on how best to answer, "That the vampires are moving away from La Push. Maybe less of La Push's boys will get their lives ruined by going wolf." Leah knew Sam's pack was huge right now. Maybe this will help clam things down.
She also, knew what he was asking. Or thought she knew. Part of Leah, wanted to run to Sam, hug him and cling to him and beg him to take her back, even after everything that had happened. Leah still loved him. Would always love him. Everyone knew your first love hurt the worse.
"It means. . . " Leah started again and then sighed. She shook her head slowly, feeling her eyes water behind her shades. "This is good bye, Sam." Leah's voice somehow managed to sound as emotionless as possible in the last line. It didn't break, or shake or waver. It didn't give any hint to her doubts, or fears. If it did hold emotion, it would have been determination, firmness.

Sam sighed as Leah mentioned lives being ruined. Sam didn't think of his life as ruined, but he had ruined lives with it. Leah's in particular, when he had imprinted on Emily. But he pushed the thought from his mind as he continued to listen to what Leah had to say. He was glad the vampires would be gone, it meant lives could get as close to normal as was possible.
His eyes hardened as Leah confirmed his original thoughts. His fists clenching tightly. Though he didn't love Leah the way he used to, he still loved her as if she were a sister or best friend, despite the bitterness. He could live with the bitterness, he had always believed he had caused it. "Why?" he asked, trying to keep his voice even. "You know you're welcome back into my pack. You don't have to go. Seth doesn't have to go."

Leah blinked her eyes behind her shades quickly so the tears wouldn't come. If she could keep her voice level, he would never know that he and her mother would be the only ones she missed in La Push. Maybe Seth. She hoped he stayed and finishes school. Just not in Sam's pack.
When he spoke about Seth and her welcome to come back, her lips turned up slightly in a sad smile. "So Jacob tells us every day." Jake all but ordered then to go back, but no one did as their fearless leader told them to do. At lest about that. Leah wanted to explain how she was happier, when not reminded of the 'good old days' by being trapped in Sam's head, with out hurting him.
"I can't stay, Sam. I'm Jake's second in command, I gotta keep him in line, ya know." Leah tried to make it a joke. "I just wanted to tell you personally, before I go and talk to Emily. My Mother already knows. She is staying in town, she likes Charlie. He makes her happy." Leah rambled not sure what else to say.

Sam just shook his head at Leah's comment, trying to lighten up the mood. This was all a disaster, all of it. If the Cullens hadn't come back, if Jake hadn't started hanging around Bella, he would have never imprinted on Nessie. He couldn't have come back to the pack, bringing Leah and Seth with them.
"You know that's not true Leah," Sam tried to say calmly, "You know Jake can take care of himself. You know he doesn't need you there." Sam took a deep breath before speaking again. "Leah, you know that's not what you want to do, you know it," his voice broke slightly at the end. He wasn't sure if he really did know what Leah thought, but those were his.
When Leah mentioned Emily his dark eyes snapped to her. "I'll be there when you talk to Emily," he told her, "You're going to hurt her, you know that? She doesn't want you to leave either."

Leah watched his as he reacted to Emily and Emily's pain. Leah gritted her teeth but said nothing on that. No bitter comments. Not this time. "I think it might be what I really do want Sam. I love my home, my Mother, La Push, but. . ." Leah sighed, "I am learning to let the past go." She reached up and removed her shades so Sam would see she was not saying this next part in anger. "When I don't have to live in your head Sam, and I don't have to see. . . everything in your head. I can let things go easier. I am happier, and easier to live with since I joined Jacob's pack."
"Jacob made me his second. I can't just leave him to follow a bunch of leaches around." Leah moved her hand to wipe away a tear that had escaped from her eye. "I plan to try to do a mixture of biting my tongue and lieing to Emily. Try to leave on a good note. I don't want to hurt her."

Sam couldn't deny that Leah was less bitter since she had joined Jacob's pack, but then again he wasn't in her head. For all he knew it could be some facade she put on, and then all the bitterness could just be flowing freely in her mind. But, he couldn't believe that. If Leah was truly showing the bitterness she had while in Sam's pack, the other member's of Jake's pack probably wouldn't stay. He couldn't lie to himself, she did seem to be doing better.... But he didn't want to believe it.
Sam grit his teeth tightly as he watched the stray tear fall from her dark eyes. With a deep breath he ceased the emotions that wanted to poor from him. Beg her to stay, not to leave. But he couldn't deny giving her what she so clearly wanted. He shook his head as he spoke next. "Don't lie to her Leah," he told her, "That'll only hurt her more."

Leah took a deep breath fighting the bitter comments she wanted to make at him protecting Emily. After a few moments she spoke again, "You don't want me to be honest with her either, Sam. Trust me on that one. I might be trying to move on, but moving on and forgiving is another matter completely."
"You might not had have a choice, but she did. I am more then a little trouble forgiving that." Leah said honestly, and a small amount of the bitter Leah showed up in her tone.
