Paul was on his way to get a burger . . . well, multiple burgers. It was no secret that his appetite was substantial, and therefore required more than the average person. In fact, he required more than ten average people. But the weight was only a part of the insane growth spurt he was on ever since phasing. As long as he was still able to be active, he had no problem with eating like crazy . . . and the looks of disbelief he recieved from others, he easily ignored. Who cared what people thought of him. He would just beat up anyone who looked at him the wrong way. That was of course, one of his favorite pastimes.
Instead of taking his bike, he decided to walk on his beautiful day . . . the sun was out, the air was cool . . . and he had just phased back to his human self, and was too hungry to go all the way home to get his bike, even if it would be to show off.
On his way to the fast food restaurant, he saw someone who he instantly recognized: Leah Clearwater. Ah yes, Leah. How things had changed dramatically since the last time all of them had hung out. Ever since Sam had imprinted on Emily -- something Paul found hilariously ironic -- Leah had been keeping her distance from Sam, and understandably. Paul was not best friends with her, and he knew that the only reason they talked was because she had been Sam's girl, but that had changed. Now, he talked to Emily just as he had once talked to Leah, because now . . . she was Sam's girl.
"Yo Leah!" He greeted, not even needing to run to catch up to her. "Sup?" He asked, once he was in a decent distance to have a conversation with her. That, and so she wouldn't get the opportunity to run from him . . . seeing as they rarely spoke since the whole imprinting incident.

Leah had gotten up that morning and dressed, not feeling in the mood to look as pretty as she once did. Once upon a time, (Some short months ago when Sam was her's and life was perfect), she had gotten up an hour earlier and spend that time plus more on her looks. Now she wore jeans and an old sweater.
When she would go visit Emily and force smiles, and congratulations out of her self she would always look her best, however right now, while doing nothing but walking home from school. It was a longer walk then she liked but money was tight, and now she had to save up for a . . . bridesmaid dress.
At the sound of someone going YO, Leah looked over her shoulder and almost groaned. Great. Paul. When he caught up with her, (because she didn't stop for him) he said, sup. Sup. She fought the urge to tell him Sup was out of style with even third graders now. Shifting her book bag which was messenger bag style, higher on her shoulder she tucked her hands in her pockets and didn't look his way. "Afternoon Paul." She ignored the Sup, and keep walking.

Good Afternoon? Who the hell said that? Maybe some 50 year old . . . but Leah? "Well it's nice to see you too," he said a little annoyed. It wasn't exactly 'nice' to see her in the first place, but surely he deserved something more than an 'afternoon Paul'. That just sounded bizarre. "Where are you off to?" Not that he truly cared, he was just curious. She was walking away from him, and he may have recognized that, but did not acknowledge it for he walked alongside her. Paul could most certainly be a pest at times . . . and since he had not seen Leah in a while, decided to chat with her for a while.

Leah keep walking, but ti was a slow speed. At lest compared to Paul's walking. Maybe he would keep passing her. When he spoke again, in a question a friend might ask she closed her eyes for a moment before opening and answering. "Walking Home." They had been 'friends' once. Back when things were easier. Paul had been fun (sometimes) to hang out with. Not as bad as she had thought he would be, from when she had known him before Sam and her hooked up.
That last thought, or the ending of it, made her heart ache. Sam. The guy who couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted.

Wow. She was being very closed off . . . now didn't seem like the appropriate time to talk about Sam, or anything wolf related. "Wanna grab a burger or something? I was about to head over there. I'm starving." He just kept talking to fill the empty space. He could be very annoying at times, and he did want to see what she was up to. Were things really so different from before, when they were able to carry a conversation? Paul didn't think it should be that different . . . besides the fact that he saw much less of her. He didn't do anything; he thought all the omplications were between Sam and Leah only.

Leah stopped walking and turned to look over at Paul, meaning to tel him she had to so something tonight and couldn't just hang out, but when she turned to look at him, she looked behind him were Emily's car was parked at the shopping center. She watched it for a moment, just enough to see Emily from inside, and her glace over at Leah and Paul before Leah smiled up at Paul. "You know. That might be nice."

What? Did she just agree? He certainly had not been expecting that to happen. He just offered to . . . well, with the assumption that she was going to say no. "Cool," he said, slightly turning so that they were heading back to the direction of the fast food restaurant. "So . . . how you been?" This time, his assumption was going to be that she was not doing well, but she had caught him off guard, maybe it would happen again.

Leah wasn't sure this was a good idea, and wondered what she was thinking by agreeing to this. She had done it randomly when she had saw Emily, wanting to avoid wedding talk. Supporting Emily was the hardest thing Leah had, had to do up til this point.
"Things are great." She lied, "Never been better. How is things with you?" She paused for a half second. "I uhh, I called your Mom when you went missing for a few days." She blamed Sam and whatever he had not trusted her with for both Paul and Jared's random missing days a few weeks back as well.

Oh. Right. Him . . . missing . . . well this was an awkward subject. "Yeah? What did she say?" He couldn't remember the story they had given out. His mother knew, but did she say he was away? Sick? Out? He made a mental note to ask her later. Inconsistency would only make the entire thing more suspicious. Leah wasn't dumb . . . surely she made the connection that Jared had gone through the same thing, and because it was at different times than when Paul first phased, they could not use the excuse that they went on a trip or something.
"You've been MIA yourself," he told her, his way of saying that he had not seen much of her. He knew why . . . but still. Things felt oddly awkward between them, where as before, they were practically like brother and sister . . . sort of. They certainly argued like siblings. Nothing too intense of course.

"I said she you were missing." Leah said in a 'what else would she say' tone. "I just knew how she felt." Sam had been missing for a while. "You had been nice to me when Sam did it, I thought I would return the favor and be there for you Mother." She had only gotten more hurt to seen Paul back as if nothing had happened and closer to Sam then before.
When he said she was MIA she shook her head, and didn't look at him. "I've been were I always am." She said, leaving it open to mean anything just about.

"Oh . . . uh, thanks, I guess. I'm sure she appreciated it," he said shrugging. His mother had known what was going on . . . maybe not initially, but Paul had to admit that he was a little surprised Leah would help his mom out. Then again, why wouldn't she have? Everyone in the town knew each other, and Leah and Paul were friends . . . kinda. He wasn't sure where they stood right now since their conversation was a little on the awkward side. "She never had a daughter before, pretty sure she sees you like one."
Once again, he wasn't sure what to say to that. "We haven't seen much of you around. You seem to be keeping a pretty low profile."

Oh come on Paul! Don't do this! Leah thought as he said she hadn't been around. It was enough that she didn't answer his other questions. "I have been, were I belong." Away from Sam, and only with Emily as much as she had to, in order to show support and not looked like the dumped Ex. "It's better this way." For her.

Well that wasn't dramatic at all. Paul wasn't quite sure what to say to that. Perhaps he would just vocalize his thoughts. "A bit dramatic, aren't you?" After all, he wasn't the one who had ditched her for her cousin. Then again, it was hard for her to understand since she didn't know about the whole . . . wolf thing. "Sometimes, stuff happens. You just gotta move on. You can't push away everything that reminds you of certain stuff," -- 'stuff' meaning Sam, he just didn't want to say the S word in front of her --
"Its La Push. Its small here." Not to mention the fact that Sam was with her cousin, her family member, who she couldn't avoid for the rest of her life. Paul shrugged. "I'm just saying Leah . . . you don't have to shove everyone away." He wasn't being sentimental in any way, shape or form. But as previously established, him and Leah had been sort of 'friends'. He wasn't going to avoid her just cause she was avoiding him.

Leah stopped walking and stared at Paul. She watched him for a few moments before looking up at the sky and looking around very hard. "Huh." She said before looking back at Paul. "I don't see the aliens, so who took over Paul?" She asked, knowing something that 'deep' couldn't come from a guy who ate feelings. Paul was more the 'make dumb joke' guy, not the 'say things that almost make since and 'feel good' things.

"Ha ha. I'm not trying to be all sappy or anything." Paul refused to act like that. "I was just saying." He would especially not be sentimental with Leah . . . while they had been sort of friends, and teased each other, he knew that things would probably never go back to that. She was already distancing herself from them, and with Paul now spending more time with Sam than ever before -- since he was the leader of their pack -- then he doubted him and Leah would be hanging out anytime soon.
