She couldn't understand how Jasper could always stay so cool and composed all the time, especially now. Alice, on the other hand, was starting to loose her patience. Maria kept ignoring the same question over and over and over again. I was amasing that Jasper kept asking the same one over and over and over again. Alice was almost ready to leave volentaraly if it would get the whole thing to move faster.
But there was also an other red eyed vampire out there in Forks somewhere, hunting! It wasn't something they could take nicely and calmely. [/blockquote]

Maria let out a disappointed purr that sounded more confidant then disappointed. "Come now, my little lock of love, surely you want to know more before making suck promises. I would hate to for this to end badly." She smiled, "How about this, I go find my new little pet, and we go hunting and fill our selves up on drink and each other, then I can come back and see if you are ready for a little heart to heart? Hmmmm?" She asked.
"I think you will find that agreeable." Meaning she was leaving and he couldn't stop her.

If Jasper did not want to remain completely straight, then he would have cringed at the nickname she used . . . one that she used to call him, and one that he never wanted to hear again. "This does not have to end badly." Jasper knew though, that in the end . . . someone was going to get hurt. "You are not going anywhere Maria. You are fully aware that I am not going to let you out of my sight." He was not going to be so quick to let her be on her merry may. "As well, my family and I reside in this area, and we can not afford any suspicion regarding the disappeareance or mutilation of humans."

Maria did not chuckled this time, she laughed very openly. "Jasper, pet, You seem to be under the influence that you had a choice. I am leaving. Were I am going, you might not want to be. . . " She paused and smiled evilly. "Aro tells me you have trouble with the smell of blood now days." She made a tsk tsk sound, then laughed and twilled away. Walking at vampire speed away from the sad display of a once grand warrior.
She called back her last comment, "Alone, Jasper. If you want to know everything, you will be alone."

Alice ignored the pet names Maria called her husband, she was already angry enough with this woman. She looked up at Jasper as Maria walked away. "We can't just let her and her friend hunt in Forks!" Her voice was paniced. Their cover could be blown within seconds if Maria was out of their sight. When she yelled back that she would answer his questions if he came alone Alice shook her head. "I am not going to let you go alone, Jasper." Her tone was definite, final, really. She had made up her mind. [/blockquote]

Jasper had said it once, but clearly his words had no meaning to Maria. He stood there, watching her depart, and listened to what Alice was saying. She was right . . . he knew it before: they could not let her wander in Forks. It was so small, her presence was bound to be noticed . . . and it an entirely negative way. He looked at Alice, concerned for her, and frustrated with Maria. "Alice, I do not know what to do," he admitted. This whole unplanned visit that Maria had so kindly brought upon them was irritating him . . . he had no strategy, no plan to figure out what Maria was doing here.
Without waiting for a further answer for Alice -- since he had to stop Maria before she got far -- he sped until he was directly in front of her. He was blocking her from going anywhere, and if need be, he would use more force. Maria knew what he was capable of . . . just as Jasper knew what she was capable of. But there was a reason Maria did not do much of the direct physical fighting; she was more the behind-the-scenes type.
"I said I would not let you out of my sight, and I meant that," he said in a serious voice, yet not a demanding one. He did not need to over express himself for her to know that he was serious. "I will do what it necessary to stop you Maria. You wanted to be civil, let us be civil." He was ready to use physical force, or even his ability to stop her. He was just giving her one more chance -- which his gut told him she would not take -- before restorting to those measures. He fought the urge to turn back and look at Alice, if he had to be violent towards Maria, he did not want his wife to see him that way.

One moment, Maria head him moving behind her and the next he was close and blocking her way. "ooooo," She purred, "Jasper! You want to play?" She looked over her shoulder at his wife, "With your wife watching?"
Maria looked back at Jasper and rolled her eyes. "Now, now, you are right, we should remain civil. I should remember I am a guest in your territory." She smiled up at him. "You are my host, and I should make sure to be a courteous guest. Are you going to be a good host and invite me into your home Jasper?" She doubted it, however she knew he ad two choices. Jasper wouldn't attack her unless he gave him a reason to. He could take her to his home or she could walk around him, have him block her again, and she could repeat this over and over until she got him close enough to this La Push border line. Once there, She could slip away.
Her 'guest' should have the wolfs at the other end of that little town and not near her. It had been a back up 'possibility' and it just formed into a real plan. . . .

"Is there anything we can without it being what she wants us to do?" Alice asked as much to Jasper as she was asking herself. She watched him dash off to stop Maria. She waited a second, hesitating wether to follow her husband or try her luck at finding the other vampire, but chose to go after him. This woman was very irritating, but what was even more irritating was how she teased Jasper.
When she reached them, Maria was asking she be invited to their home. Alice stood a meter behind her and crossed her arms. "That will not happen. You are as welcome in our home as you are welcome in the Olympic Penesula." Not at all. [/blockquote]

There was absolutely no way Jasper was going to invite Maria to his home. And it was clear she was not going to change her stubborn ways, so Jasper would have to make her. He began to carry out his threat, making her feel vulnerable and fear loneliness. He did not know how she would react to it, but he would find out soon enough. He positioned himself close to Alice again as she had joined them, which clearly defined the fact that she was not going to leave him alone with Maria, which was fine with him.

Maria felt the change. She for a moment fought it. It was like trying to stop a waterfall from falling with your bare hand. You could think of the how, you could take the action, but it was never enough. You only got wet. Maria couldn't even be annoyed.
Well. If couldn't bet them, join them. And that was just what Maria did. One moment she was standing there as bold as you can be. The next her arms were wrapped around Jasper for support. She let her feel what he wanted her to feel and then tired to heighten it. She wanted support, she didn't want to be alone. Which ment she had to have Jasper there. With her.

Alice could tell what Jasper was doing to Maria, he was altering her emotions, on the most part because she lightly felt it too -- for a second, then the change of emotions was entirely focused on Maria. Jasper walled over to stand next to her, Alice looked up at him; his expression was hard, serious. She looked back at Maria, then. That's when everything went a little too fast.
One second Maria was infront of them, probably struggling against her changing emotions. And the next millisecond, she had her flung herself at Jasper, her arms around him for support. A deep and very audible growl arose from Alice. It could of been any other girl in the world with their arms around beer husband, and she would not of minded, but this was Maria. A woman who had caused so many bad things in Jasper's past. Alice didn't want her husband to get hurt or used -- or anything else -- by this girl.

Oops. That was not what Jasper had intended. Then again, while he could manipulate emotions, he could not directly manipulate actions. And what Maria was doing, was simply a reaction to something he had created. It was not the best idea, and so, he forced her arms off from around him and put them to her side, taking a step away from her. "Control yourself Maria," he said simply. She knew the way his powers worked very well, and he would not be surprised if this was exactly what she had wanted. Oh why did she have to come back . . . why did he have to be standing here, in her presence, when he could be alone and at peace with his wife somewhere.
He changed her emotions so that she felt fearful . . . fearful of him, but only subtlly so that it was not enough to force her to run away, but he wondered how Maria would counter those actions. He stood next to Alice, holding her hand in his. "Do not worry," he told her, as he had not ignored her reaction to Maria's embrace.

"Control my self?" She asked, "Why, you seen to enjoy doing it for me." Maria felt the warning prickles of fear on the back of her neck and forced her self not to take a step back, no matter how much she wanted to. It was false! Jasper was only toying--
Maria forced a smile on her face, it was not as easy as her normal ones, "Jasper!" She said in a sharp tone, "If you continue to play, I will start playing back!" She warned, not sounding as frightened as she felt. Maria made a plan in her head, knowing the little freak beside him would see. She would being a army here, in the form of a size he had never seen. She would bring them, with the gold of smiting.

If only Alice could relax around Maria for the slightest second. Then maybe she could of listened to Jasper, and not worry. But Maria was fighting against Jazz's power pretty hard and it was frieghtening to think that perhaps, soon, she could completely fight off the mood he was imposing on her right now. But, maybe she wouldn't be able to fight as well if Jasper changed the emotion...
Maria's threat, though mixed with the wrong emotion, was no less easy to ignore. But, the view before her changed into something else. Maria had was plotting. She was going to bring her army -- it seemed very large -- to Forks... to distroy. Alice did not like what she had seen, and what was worse was that this was not a decoy plan so far. So far... that was also worrying. But her current plan... Alice clasped her hands -- the one Jasper held clasped around his hand, the free hand balled into a fist -- as her eyes refocused on reality and on the woman in front of her. Though the threat of an attack of a newborn army was terrifying, the fact that she did not do her own 'dirt work' was very pathetic. But this did not change Alice's take on the situation, as the images replayed in her mind. "I don't like what I am seeing." She whispered to Jasper, eyes still glaring at Maria.

"Life is not a game Maria." He knew she begged to differ. He waved all emotions from her, so that she felt herself again . . . which Jasper did not want to have to put up with, but had no choice at the moment. He turned to Alice, trying to hide the curiousity he felt, though it was great, and concern continued to build inside of him. "What do you see Alice?" He asked in a voice, hardly above a whisper. His world focused entirely on his wife at this moment, and for one of the first times . . . he was able to temporarily ignore the presence of Maria. Of course, he did not know how long that would last, but he would pay his attention entirely on Alice until he was forced to divide it.

Maria chuckled a long, slow sound. It came from deep in her chest, and it sounded more like the classic muhaha then her normal chuckles. "Yes, dearest, Alice. What do you see?" She asked, as if she already knew. She could guess. She had learned a thing or two about Alice's powers. She was learning to play agisnt them now. . .

Alice's fist loosened, but her hand kept it's grip on Jasper's hand stayed somewhat the same. She could not help it, she could not help but be worried and freightened by what she saw. It bothered her that this was what Maria wanted. This woman knew a lot about her, and was using her power to get what she wanted. But Maria was not joking about this. There was no way Alice was going to a chance at there being an army of vampires in Forks.
Alice didn't look away from Maria, her eyes still narrowed, as she whispered to Japser. "Jasper. Stop." She said it through her teeth. Maria was getting what she wanted, and Alice hated it. "Changing her emotions. Stop." She looked at the ground, unpleased with it but she had no other choise. She was not going to let these things happen, but she knew Maria was only threatening. But she knew Maria would do such things.

Jasper hated that he was the cause of Alice's discomfort, but what could he do. "I have ceased doing so," he told her, letting Alice know that he had waved all false emotions from the vampire and had no plans to do something along those lines again. He wanted to act though, but he could not recklessly place Alice's life in danger like that. He turned to face Alice. "Alice," he began in a very soft, but very serious voice. "Please tell me, what did you see." He was trying to ignore Maria. Ignoring her questions, and trying to ignore her presence. "I must know, it is of vital importance."

"I know," Alice knew he had stopped toying with Maria's emotions, what she had meant was that he not do it again. It agricated her that Maria was getting what she wanted. She looked up from the ground to see Jasper infront of her. She listened to his every word. What could she tell him? Telling everything would only give Maria more satisfaction and her twisted ways. Alice sighed, looking down again. "An army..." She whispered very low, Jasper would probably barely hear it, which made sure Maria could not at all. "And..." She couldn't say it. Alice held back her sobs. It was hard, but she managed to do it somehow. She knew Jasper would understand this, there was only two things that could make her feel this sad, and they both had to do with him. She looked up at him, holding his hand tightly.

"And?" Maria prompted as if she was getting annoyed with Alice's stalling. She was. She wanted the truth out there as bold as you pleased. She wanted the to know why she was here, but not all of it. It was why she had avoided the mind reader. She was also trying very hard not to make plans for their destruction. She didn't want the little freak of a wife knowing that was coming. Not yet, not until it was to late to change. It was why Maria came planless but with goals. She knew how it needed to end but she didn't plan how she would get there. No, not yet.

Alice did not need to explain what else she meant. Jasper could feel her pain; and he despised Maria for causing his wife this kind of pain. He hated hearing Alice's silent sobs, and feeling anything but the joviality that his wife often felt. He pulled Alice close to him, embracing her in a hug and no longer caring if Maris was standing there, watching them. Whether she mocked his affection for Alice, he did not care. While holding Alice, said in a voice barley audible, but was close enough for Alice to hear. "It will be alright. She will not hurt either one of us." She was building an army, but Alice's reaction to the second part of her vision distracted him from the first part.
While keeping his arms around Alice in a hug, he glanced at Maria, glaring at her. "Do not think you will get away with whatever it is you are planning. I will not let you." His voice was firm, though he would not be surprised if the vampire only found amusement in his threat and classified it as an empty one. He would do whatever it took to protect Alice. He would spare her of any pain and sadness.

Alice looked up at Jasper, shaking her head a little. "Not Forks." She whispered so he would hear, and only he would. She had no doubt that Jasper could protect anyone, he constantly did so for her when she could do it herself, but there was absolutely no way that he could protect all of Forks along with it. As much as Alice wanted to stay in Jasper's comforting and safe embrasse, she had pull away -- but she did so gently -- Maria was still present. Which made this nor the time or the place; and she would see it as weakness, no doubt.

Maria stood there rather pleased with her self. "You will stop me, Jasper?" Maria tiled her head and pretended to this. "Hmmmm. How will you stop me Jasper?" She looked around as if waiting for something. "My friend should be here soon, if you would like to meet him." She smiled brightly, Jasper would know this was a bad sign. He had walked into her trap. "He is Felix, of the Volturi guard. . . . being they know all about him, and see in his head . . . " She trailed off. The Voturi would not be pleased if the Cullens killed one of their own. If Jasper attacked Maria here, Felix would hear and come, and there would be a bigger fight. If Felix fell. . . .they could come again. "Really Jasper. You used to be more of a challenge."

Jasper did not like Alice's visions in the least bit, and Maria's pleased words were only further agitating him. He kept close to Alice, though no longer holding her in his arms. "Do not presume to predict my actions Maria. Just because I do not plan to do anything to you now, does not mean I will not act in the near future. If it means that I will be protecting my family from you, then I will take the risk of Aro classifying my actions as illegal, and something that I must be punished for." He paused, only to calm himself before lashing out right now, in this instant.
"Do you really believe that Felix will defend you? That he will try to save your life? He may not consider you worth it Maria. As always, you flatter yourself." Jasper's voice was stern, and while he did not understand the relationship between her and Felix, he believed it odd that she would be so close to a Volturi guard, especially considering all of the things she had done in the past, which still were under the risk of being discovered.

Alice listened attentivly as she had been doing the whole time. It was not easy being around such a person, and the threats, if they could be called so, she three at them. But Alice was feeling more controlled, and was not bothered much by what Maria said anymore. When Jasper spoke up in a raging responce, something he said shot pain and distress through Alice. She looked up at him with wide eyes. There was no way on Earth that she was letting him get himself... she couldn't bare to think of the word. But she would not let him. Telling him know, how she felt, was not the tlbest idea. Nor was it the time nor the place.

"Yes," Maria said sumgly. "I do think Felix will come to my aid. . . . " Maria's head tilted to the right ever so slightly, as if she was thinking. "Surely you've heard the news? Felix and I . . .have bonded quite a bit." She said hinting at what sort of relationship she shared with Felix. "Do you recall meeting? He remebers your dear little wife." Maria's chuckle was low and short this time.
Felix had been the vampire the same size as one of the Cullens, and begging for a fight. He was blood thirsty, and battle ready at all times. He loved the fight, loved the challenge, and the best part was he wasn't a big thinker.
