Leah was in a GREAT mood today. It had been months since she had seen Emily. She wanted to go and visit the city, shop, gossip and dish. And, Leah had something to dish to Emily. Sam had asked her to marry him! She could not wait to tell Emily (and everyone)!
Getting into her Mother's car what she was borrowing, she headed out of La Push and to the ferry, which would lead her to the highways, and the bigger city's and then to Emily's college campus and school.
It was a long drive but Leah was willing to make it to visit a woman she considered one of her closest friends. Once there, Leah parked in the student's guest lot, and walked (in heels!) the long walk to the dorms and up to Emily's room, to knock on the door. "Hey hey! I am here!" She said while knocking.

(It's great!!) Emily ran around her dorm room, trying to get ready for her day with Leah. She hadn't seen any of her old friends or family for a really long time because it was such a long drive to the campus. But she was so happy to get a call from Leah, telling Emily that she wanted to come spend time with her.
Emily ran into the bathroom to brush her teeth and put on a little bit of make-up. Once done, she stared at herself in the mirror for a minute.. at her outfit. She shook her head, not liking what she was wearing and ran out of the bathroom to change again (for the ninth time). She was glad that her roommate wasn't here to see her going completely crazy and also the mess that she was causing.
As she was changing into her (hopefully, final) outfit, she heard a knock on the door and Leah's voice. "Hold on, Leah!!" Emily called out and finished up changing. She tried to grab the clothes that were laying around from her changing so much and then stuffed them in her closet. She would deal with them later.
She ran to the door and opened it quickly. "Hey Leah! Come on in! I just have to get my purse and we can go." She smiled at her best friend, who was also family.(I hope this is okay! I'm still working on my first post thread  ) |

"Hey girl!" Leah called to her friend, "Am I to early for you? I hear college girls stay out all night drinking, and partying and sleeping with random men on very street." Leah was teasing Emily, knowing full well Emily was nothing like that. Leah was the type to joke allot and try to keep the mood light if needed. She could dark and dramatic when sad or upset but most days she was nice and happy.
"I have big news, and I can't wait to tell you, but I need food, so lets go out to eat first!"

Emily turned to Leah and glared at her and then grabbed her purse. "You know I'm not that type of person! I was up all night studying for exams while everyone went out to the end of the semester party." She told her friend, although she knew that Leah was just joking around.
"Big news?!" She grinned and started clapping her hands. "Yay! I can't wait for you to tell me!" She laughed and grabbed Leah's hand and started to drag her out of her dorm. "I know this great place to eat. It's my favourite! Do you want to take my car or yours?" Emily asks Leah.

"If you don't mind, lets take yous. Gas nearly killed me driving up here." Leah smiled, "It was worth it!" She laughed and then pointed to her shoes, "Plus I parked like half a mile away, and these aren't shoes meant to walk that over and over again. I need to buy some knew ones today!"
"I can't wait to tell you either, but want you sitting down. And If I sit, I will stare to death on the spot, so - Food first!" Leah laughed as she finished her statement. "I ate something small before coming but didn't want to stop over and over so waited to eat with you.

Emily grinned, although she did feel bad that she paid so much for gas. "Remind me before you go to give you some money for gas back up to La Push."
Emily laughed when she saw the shoes that Leah was wearing. She just shook her head. "Leah, Leah. I thought I told you before, make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes in your car if you need to walk long distances!" She couldn't help but laugh again. She pointed to where her car was. "Well, my car is right there so you don't need to worry about walking half a mile again!"
"This MUST be big news if you want me to be sitting down!" Emily said, as she thought of the possibilities of Leah's big news. After a moment, she came out of her thoughts to reply to Leah. "Well, I haven't eaten anything all day! I've been studying and getting ready all day that I haven't been able to!" She unlocked the doors to her car when they came up to it and then got in. She turned on the engine and began to drive toward her favourite restaurant.

"I don't want your money, and these are classy shoes!" Leah told her, "I like my heels, they make me taller then Seth!" Leah laughed, knowing Emily would know who Seth was. Seth was Leah's younger annoying brat of brother who she loved dearly, (How did brothers he the one you hate and love the most?)
"Yes it's big, so lets go!" Leah followed Emily to her car and got in and buckled up. "So tell me something fun while we drive. How cute are the boys here? Anyone flirt with you yet?"

Emily laughed at her comment about being taller than Seth in her shoes. "You and Seth." She pauses to laugh again. "How is Seth by the way? Wait.. how is everyone in La Push?" Emily smiled at Leah as she asked the question.
She shrugged at Leah's questions when we got into the car. "There are cute boys here.. but none that are really interested in me. I do like this one guy but there is no possible way that he would ever like me!" She dishes to Leah.

Leah smiled brighter knowing soon Emily would know what she meant when she said, "Oh, Everyone is wonderful! Really Happy!" Happy Leah would soon be a wife, and later be a mother. Leah thought of having Sam's child. One day, maybe a few years after they were married they would be ready.
"There is a guy!! Oh! Tell me! I want to know EVERYTHING, Emie!" Leah sat in the passenger seat and turned to face Emily. "Where did you meet him, what's his name? How cute is cute?"

Emily smiled. "Why are they so very happy? Wait.. does this have anything to do with your news?" She paused. "Oh, you are going to keep me waiting, STILL! You really need to tell me soon! Or I might just go crazy!" She laughed.
"Yes, there is a guy. His name is Jason. I met him at this party a few weeks ago. And on a scale from one to ten, it's a 9. The only thing is.. he likes someone else. He only thinks of me as a friend and nothing else. Well, maybe a sister. So, I don't think anything will happen with that." She told Leah, trying very hard to cover up the sadness in her voice.

"Jason is an idiot." Leah said tuneing into her friend's unspoken saddness. "If he can't see you for what you are then he needs a life. I vote we roll his house!" Leah said the last part as a joke. She knew they would never but pretending to ruin someone's day would bring a smile to Emily she hoped.
"AH! I can't wait to tell you, but I don't want to drop the bomb so to speak while your driving. It's big and exciting and wonderful and I am so happy!" Leah looked happy to. She was never one to be dramatic and sad but she wasn't one to always wear a smile. She was smiling brightly now. Everything was becoming perfect her for small town life.

At the mention of rolling his house, Emily turned to look at Leah, wide-eyed. "Leah, no! It's okay, I enjoy being his friend right now." She shrugged. "Who knows, maybe he'll see eventually. The girl he is falling for is taken anyways. He doesn't know it yet, I just found out today from my roommate." Emily told Leah, dishing all the gossip about her life to her.
"Well, I can pull the car over just so you can tell me!" She grinned, wickedly. Emily was dying to know this big news that Leah had. And right now, she would go to extreme measures just to hear it!

Leah laughed, "No! I am so hungry! Please just drive us there and I will tell you...and show you..." Leah hinted to her friend. Leah had her ring turned around on her hand so it did not stand out, and had so far managed to either be sitting on her hand or have it behind her or somewhere out of site.
"If Jason dose not then you should come look at the La Push boys! Closer to home and they have been growing up! Getting buff and manlier!" Which was scary true for Sam who was growing taller faster then grass! It was a late growth spurt that made most of his clothes not fit.

"Ugh! Leah! That's so unfair! Stop doing that! Or I really will make you wait to eat and pull this car over until you tell me!" She tried to threaten her best friend but she knew that it wouldn't work. We would end up at the restaurant and she still wouldn't tell me.
Emily thought for a moment about the La Push guys there. "Hmm, that sounds like a good idea! Maybe after exams are done, I'll come up for a few days. Think I can crash at your place for those few days?" She asked.

Leah laughed as Emily play fussed at her. "I will drag out my air mattress and put it in fount of the TV, we can watch old movies all night and watch the boy play all day!" La Push wasn't the sunbathing capital of the world, but you could find other ways to watch men get dirty and sweaty and all manly cute.
"Besides, the restaurant can't be that much further away! Once we are there, I will tell you everything! Trust me, you have no idea how hard it is to not just tell you! Your my best friend! I want to tell you so bad!"

"Sounds like so much fun! I'm excited already!" She grinned at Leah but still, kept her eyes on the road. "And you're right. The restaurant is only a few minutes away. But still.. the minute we sit down! You are telling me everything!" Emily pushed on the gas a little harder, speeding up so they could get to the restaurant that much faster.
She pulled into the parking lot of the small, cozy restaurant. She turned off the engine and opened the door to get out. She waited for Leah to come around to the front of the car and linked arms with her. She walked with her towards the door. "It's sort of like a bar&grill restaurant minus the bar part. They are really good things here, which why it would be my favourite place to come when I can get off campus." She smiled at her friend.

When Emily speed up Leah let out a loud laugh. Emily was so funny in her own way. They fit, Leah and Emily. Leah used to pretend Emily was her sister. Their personalities did not match, but they seemed to know each other well enough that they got along better then most sisters.
"I like the looks of it. You will have to recommend something wonderful for me to order. Nothing with fish in it. Dad has been fishing tons and Mom cooks ever single fish he catches. When she put fish on the table last night Seth almost walked away. Poor guy." Leah had been to happy and pleased to notice what she was eating. It had not been until Seth started pleading with their father that she noticed it was the third night in a row they had fish of some sort for supper.

Emily shook her head and laughed when Leah mentioned Harry always catching tons of fish and them having to eat it. "Aww. Poor Seth and poor you!!" Emily wrapped her arm around Leah's shoulder and gave her a small hug. She pulled back to tell the waitress that they needed a table for 2. While they waited to be seated, Emily turned back to Leah. "Well, they have a ton of food that doesnt have any fish or seafood in it. They have a great steak and feta salad. It's too die for, I swear!" She paused for a moment. "Ooh, I might have that today. I was thinking about getting just the steak sandwich or the chicken club but..." She realized that she was rambling on, talking to herself. "Oops, sorry!"

"Your making my mouth water! I can't wait to tease them!" Leah planned to order the opposite from Emily and then sweet talk her into splitting each others meal so they different things. When the waitress told them that their table was ready Leah walked closely side Emily, their arm's still link, to the table. The waitress said she give them a moment to think about there order and would be back.
"I can smell everyone else's food. It smells SO good!" Leah picked up a menu but just put it down again. "You can order for me. I trust my favorite cheif!"

Emily laughed and looked at the menu for any new things on the menu that may be good. “You are putting a lot of pressure on me now.” She joked with Leah. She noticed something new on the menu. “Oh! They have ribs now! I heard they were really good around campus! I may get that!” She exclaim, now very excited to try the new ribs. The waitress came over to take our order and Emily ordered the ribs and also got Leah the steak and feta salad that Emily knew Leah would love. When the waitress left, Emily turned to Leah. “Okay.. now, we have ordered the food and I’m sitting down..” She paused. “So!! TELL ME THE NEWS!!” She practically yelled to her, earning Emily a few looks from the people around the table.

Leah laughed and knew she was blushing. "ok, ok." She took a deep breath, "You remember me telling you about this guy, Sam? How we were dating, and how I fell heads over heels for him and I think he's The One?" She waited to make sure Emily remembered Sam and pulled her hand up to saw Emily the ring, "Apparently he thinks, I'm this The One as well. He asked me to marry him!!"
Leah's voice got faster and excited as she spoke and told Emily all this, by the time she got to the last part it was just short of a sequel, "I said YES!"

Emily gave Leah a small nod, telling her that she knew about Sam. Whenever she talked to Leah, they would always talk about Sam for at least half of the whole conversation. Then, Emily saw the ring. "Oh my God!! Leah!! Congratulations!!" She got out of her seat and went over to give her best friend a hug. "You should have told me earlier! We would have went out somewhere a little more expensive than this! We need to celebrate!!" Emily was so excited that her best friend was getting married to.. from what she heard, a wonderful guy that would keep her happy forever.

"This place is great! We will celebrate by shopping til we drop!" Leah hugged Emily back and knew she wanted to ask her to be her maid of honor but wanted Emily to meet Sam first. "I have not set a date yet but I want you to come down and meet him. After finals if you need to wait but sometime soon. He's great, you'll love him." Leah went on and on, but she was excited and happy and when she was both, she tended to talk allot.

Emily went back over to her seat and the people who were staring at us turned back to their own table. “I just want to let you know that I will help in any way that I can! Anything you need or want.. you got it!” She exclaimed.

Oh Leah knew exactly how Emily could help her. She was going to make Emily her maid of honnor. She was going to have her best friend on one side of her and the man she loved on the other when she was at the end of the aile. However, Leah still walked to wait until Emily and Sam had their First Meeting, before she asked that question from Emily.
Leah smiled at her friend, "Yes! Maybe we can find you a man to take your mind off this Jason, while your down there. I will have to start looking at Sam's friends and seeing who all would be good for you." Leah was teasing her, but knew she would never set Emily up. Emily seemed the type (To Leah's mind) to want to go places and do things, and not get stuck in itty bitty La Push forever. Leah was a small town girl but wasn't sure if Emily was.

“Leah! No! I’ll find someone soon enough. It just takes time. Please, don’t set me up with anyone!” She begged of her friend. Emily knew that Leah would most likely not do that but she had to be sure. Emily wanted a guy who wanted to see the world with her, someone who was smart, loving, caring, someone who had the same interests as her. “And truthfully, I don’t need a guy to be happy. I’m perfectly happy right now.” Emily smiled.
Not soon after, the waitress brought over the food. Emily looked down at her ribs, which smelt so good and looked even better. Immediately, Emily began to dig into her food, tasting a little sample of everything, seeing exact what ingredients the chef used (just in case she wanted to make it later for herself when she got an apartment of her own).

Leah smiled at Emily, "Fine, but I am going to make him pick our his cutest friend to stand near you during the wedding photos." Leah said, "So that way your college friends can at lest get jealous over what you did on your summer vacation." She joked.
"Oh!" Leah said as she smelled the food, "I was right to trust you! It's heaven on a plate!" Leah took a bit and made a fake moaning sound, "So good." She thought of Sam, "Sam has hit a random growth spurt, and is eating all the time and not gaining any weight. I could shake him."

Emily glared at Leah. "Although it would be funny to show my friends that I found 'a guy' over the summer vacation, it wouldn't be right!" She paused. "Oh, what am I saying! Okay, I would like a guy.. I just want to find him out of La Push. Because you know how the guys are in La Push..." She trailed off to take a bite of her ribs.
"I knew you would like it! I always order that so that needed to be your first meal here." Emily grinned and then listened to Leah talk about Sam's growth spurt. "Really? That's so strange. Well, not really strange that he is eating a lot all the time because he is probably bigger. But partly strange if you know what I mean. Maybe a doctor should check him out? Just to make sure everything is okay?" Emily asked in more of a question than a statement.

"Sam says he is fine. He seems fine. He has more engery and more...I am not sure what to call it." Leah said, "But he seems happy. As long as Sam is happy, then I will pester him about to much." Leah took another bit and chewed slowly.
"I can't wait til you come home. Even my Mom talks about how she misses you. It will be fun to have you home, even for a little bit. Do you miss home much?" Leah asked, since she did not leave home she was not sure if she would miss home or not.

"Maybe Sam just needed to get away from things for a while. I feel like that sometimes, it's just impossible to get away." Emily tried to smile a little. "I can't wait either. I miss everyone so much. I mean, I love everyone here too and I love where I am now but there is always that small part of me that misses home all the time. I wish I could just come home with you now but I know that I can't." Emily responded.
