------ ---"I would hate to ruin Alice's fun of leading you to the perfect car." Even if Cars were Rose's passion, Jasper was Alice's passion. "Besides, if we all ride down together, we can race in teams. Maybe even Edward can come. If he is not..." Wit his uninvited human... "Then we can make it a family trip. The group of us." Edward and Alice was the closet sibling type relationship, while they might want to ride together Rose was not about to let one car had all that talent and ruin any surprises that her and Emmett might think up. "Edward can ride with me and Emmett if we race home."

"She will still be leading us in a way." Jasper knew that Rosalie was right though. Alice was the only one who had fun giving people surprises because no one else was able to. Not with Edward and Alice having special abilities that would take the surprise away. That was alright with Jasper though . . . what surprises could he possibly want to give?
"That sounds like a good plan. Though I am not sure if Edward would have time to spend the day with us." That was probably the best way he could phrase it. They were going to be going out in the middle of the day . . . they seldom saw him during Bella's free time. Jasper smiled as Rose divided up the teams. "Sounds fair. I would not want to have all the advantages. It will be nice to have another family trip, apart from hunting." It used to be events like hunting . . . baseball . . . and school . . . that the five of them would spend so much time together. Now, it was narrowed down to hunting. Of course, Jasper did not complain for he was still able to spend time with Alice. But still . . . he enjoyed their family outings.

------ ---Rose didn't move her head but her eyes looked over at him in a slight unhappy glare when he said Edward might not have time for them. Right, Edward would want to spend time with the human before she grew old and kicked the bucket.
---Rose wasn't sure what to say to that. She wasn't sure she wanted to even try. THEY were his family, and had been for longer then she'd been alive. Now, suddenly not only did she seem to matter more, but he had no time for his family. Rose simply gave a almost soundless hiss of annoyance.

Jasper was fully aware that she did not take his remark kindly. It was not anything he could change though. Edward had found someone . . . he preferred to spend time with her. Jasper understood how that felt; wanting to spend every possible moment with the person you cared about. Rosalie however did not spend as much with Emmett as for instance, Jasper spent with Alice. Now that was not to say she cared less about her husband . . . they just shared a different kind of relationship . . . like Edward did with Bella.
"He cares for her. We should be happy for him." Edward had lived so long without a significant other . . . it was just odd that that significant other turned out to be a human.

------ ---Rose ignored him, and went to work no her car. She disagreed. While she was in some way, happy that Edward found someone, she was very displeased with everything else about this. Edward was choosing this simple human over her and this family! She did not want Edward that way, but she was jealous! What did this human have that none of them did?
---Then, he was risking everything! He had told Bella EVERYTHING! If this went badly then they were exposed! If word got back to Itliay....

Jealousy. Jasper felt that Rose had no need to be jealous but he was not going to comment on that. His reassurance would make no difference to her . . . it would potentially just make her more angry. Jasper would have also calmed her down, in a more definite way, but again . . . she may just be angry once he let it wear off.
He leaned against her car, watching her and then stared ahead of him at nothing in particular. Maybe tonight's game will help her release some of that anger she had. Or, seeing Bella would have the exact opposite effect. Jasper did not want to make her more angry so he just stood in silence . . . his gesture was his way of trying to be there for her; to be as supportive as he could. Even if she was distracted, even if she wanted to be alone but did not say it, he remained near her.

------ ---Rose didn't mind the silence. She let her mind wondered and soon calmed down. She looked back over at Jasper and gave him a half smile. "Hand me a half inch torque wench?" She asked, and waited to see if he even knew what it was. She thought he would. But, he didn't know as much as her. No one in the family did.
---"Thanks for not pushing the topic." She said in a tone that meant it was not reopening. Most everyone else would have tried to talk her into liking Bella or something. Jasper seemed to want to let it go and let her feel what she felt.

Jasper looked at the assortment of tools with a blank expression. He knew nothing about cars . . . nothing compared to what Rosalie knew. He always thought it was a little funny that she, out of all of them, was the best mechanic. When one met her, she did not seem like a mechanic . . . a woman who had so much knowledge about cars. It seemed to go against her looks and personality, but Jasper knew just how deceiving looks could be.
He picked up two tools. "Which one?" He asked her, slightly embarrassed but it was to be expected -- well in his opinion anyway -- from someone who did not know cars. He knew one of them was right . . . he just did not know which one. "You are welcome Rose." He would say no more on it. She was thanking him for letting it go, not opening it up again. "We must win tonight," he said, going back to discussing their baseball game. It was after all what he had come to tell her.

------ ---Reaching over and taking the correct tool from him she looked back down at the engine while he spoke. She blocked the human from her thoughts and smiled. "Yes, Emmett hates to lose. He will be on our team unless something changes." Which was good. With Emmett's batting, and Jasper's field work, then Rose knew they could win.
---Edward might know where they were going to hit it, Alice might even see it, but knowing it, and stopping it, was two different plays.

They would most certainly make a strong team. Jasper's gifts were not exactly helpful in this game. He was not going to . . . cheat by manipulating the emotions of someone causing them to miss completely. Even Jasper was fair . . . sort of. "If he is on our team then I will have to re think my bet with him." Instead of betting on who would win . . . he would have to think of something else. "Maybe how many home runs we each get." Jasper was simply thinking out loud. He smiled at the thought of betting. It was the daily amusement he found in his life . . . betting with Emmett.

------ ---"I am not sure if he will be or not." Rose only knew she would be on Jasper's team, and then Edward and Alice would be on a team together. Jasper and Rose had the same feelings about baseball. They loved the game. It was natural for them to be on the same team. Some days, Emmett would join them. Some times Carlisle would be on there team.
---Rose would be just fine with whoever Emmett joined, as long as he was there and they played together. He liked to try to beat her, and Rose liked to try to beat him. Then go home and-- "We will have to ask him."

"No matter." Jasper was not overly picky about teams. It was all to have fun after all . . . despite how competitive he could be at times. "If not Emmett, then Carlisle will most certainly be on our team." Jasper smiled. "I must admit it is quite fun playing against him." Jasper -- obviously -- enjoyed challenging Emmett and playing on different teams was extremely fun for him.

------ ---"We know you like Carlisle on our team. You like to play against Emmett. I swear," She said with a laugh, "You remind me of my--" Her smile did not fade but it would be easy for Jasper to tell her mood dimmed. "You two are like my real brothers. They used to forever try to one up the other as well. Of course, you and Emmett are much more morbid and my brothers never places bets on it."
---"I am not getting all emotional and needy on you here Jasper" She was, "but, I am glad that Alice lead you both here. Even if I don't show it allot."

The change in emotions caused some sadness in Jasper as well. Not because her mood reflected onto him . . . but because he knew the source of it. Rose missed her old life and speaking about it brought back the memories of her former lifestyle and the pain of her current one. They usually did not get very sentimental, and so when Rose began to talk this way, he gave her a smile. "Perhaps we are a bit more immature than they were as well," he said smiling jokingly . . . though there was probably some truth to his statement.
"You are the sister I never had the chance to get to know Rosalie. And for that, I am grateful." He was not getting sappy. But Jasper did not open up much . . . this moment called for a rare one. "I can feel what you feel, and expressing your gratitude is not necessary. I can feel your love for your family. It does not need to be spoken." It was not part of Rosalie's personality, and Jasper could not complain. He was quiet for majority of the time . . . he was fairly certain that at times, that irritated his family.

------ ---"As long as you realize your part of that family." She said, "And, if Edward is going to treat your friends badly again, then I vote we make him stay at the humans full time next time Peter comes for a visit."
---She was teasing, and being honest. In truth, Rosalie was centered around herself, then Emmett and the family. She did not want Bella around, and if Edward was going to be like he was, she did not want him around. She liked entertaining guest. Being a hostess with Esme. Edward ruined everyone's day.

[color=33A1C"I do. You have all shown me kindness from the moment I came." Jasper gave a small smile. Though he did feel he was a part of this family . . . he knew that he would follow Alice wherever she went. Though he did not see her leaving them willingly, since she was so attached to everyone, he would still go with her if she decided to depart. "He was concerned for Bella. It is natural for him not to trust a vampire that he does not know. And who does not follow our same diet." Whether Edward liked him or not, Peter was a friend of Jasper's. He had come back for him and saved him from Maria.
"Thank you for being understanding," he added. Jasper could not insult his family members without having some justifiable reason for their actions. But he did feel he had to thank Rosalie for understanding.[/color]

------ ---It wasn't understanding as much as Rose finding everything wrong with Edward she could right now. Rose handed him a tool so he could put it back and then leaned on her car. "He was rude to them. It wasn't natural. He didn't hang around to learn anything about them and he could read their minds, he should have known they meant no harm. They never hunt around here when visiting. They always, hunt before joining us then wait until they are away to hunt again. They do that for you, and the only thing he could think about was them going out of there way to hunt his human toy down and snacking!"

It appeared Rose was more angry with Edwards actions than Jasper was. Then again . . . Rosalie never really needed more ammunition. "It is alright Rosalie. He did them no harm. And they did not stay long. I hope to see them again one day, but it will be more convenient if they do not come to our house." It was an inconvenience for Jasper . . . but Bella was considered part of the family now and so a lot of things had to be taken into account. "Do not be angry at him for that. He cares for Bella. He was worried for her safety. It is hard to assure someone of that when two unfamiliar, non vegetarian vampires enter the scene."

------ ---"Stop trying to protect him, Jasper. You have a right to be annoyed with him for how he acted. Worried or not, he was rude and made them feel unwelcome." Rosalie did not know how they felt, she was guessing. "He needs to learn to handle whatever he feels and not panic with friends come over."
---Rosalie knew Edward might be able to hear them. Might be able if he was not so absorbed with his human. "Will you just admit he was rude to them." She mainly wanted him to admit it so that she knew she was not over reacting like everyone seemed to think she was. That fact that Edward might be able to hear was just a plus.

Jasper was starting to feel a little annoyed . . . but maybe that was because Rosalie was so irritated. "It's . . . fine Rosalie. What happened, happened. There is nothing we can change now. Edward did not get along with him as well as I would have thought, and that was his decision. I will not hold a grudge against him for it." Jasper really was not trying to let Rosalie's emotions influence his own . . . but the fact that she felt a certain way, and how she was encouraging him to admit his anger towards Edward was making it difficult to stay calm.
"Why are you so angry about the way he treated friends of mine? You have no need to be angry about that," he said in a bit of a monotone voice: lacking enthusiasm and frustration.

------ ---"Why dose everyone this he's perfect even when he treats people horribly?" Rosalie countered. "Why am I the only one who see his actions as childish? He was rude, and your making excuses for him!" Rosalie might have been the lest close to Edward, however if someone besides her family spoke of him the way she was now, she would become defensive and protect him. However this was family. It was different.
---"Jasper, I am not saying you have to hate him, just admit he was rude unnecessarily!" Rosalie could tell by Jasper's voice he was not going to and it only made her more irradiated with Edward. "Honestly, Jasper, he all but insulted your friends over his human. It would be one thing if they were dangerous, but they are your friends and primsed to behave!"

"He is not perfect. But he is our family." Jasper looked at the ground, maintaining composure and trying not to let Rosalie upset him . . . both by words and emotional influence. He would not use his power against her either . . . what was the point when she was usually angry like this, more so ever since Bella came into Edward's life. "I am merely saying that he can not help but feel protective over the one he loves. If Edward had a friend who I perceived as a threat to Alice, I may very have well acted the same way." Hopefully, Jasper would never have to find out.
"Rosalie . . . " He slightly shook his head. "They were my friends, and they were not greatly offended. It is fine. Why must you encourage me to be angry or irritate, or offended by his actions." It was more a statement than a question, though he was curious as to why she was so persistent. "Please, let it go." For Rose . . . he knew that was not going to be easy. In fact, he could only assume it was an impossibility. "Sometimes the promise if a vampire is not an easy one to accept."

------ ---Rosalie gave a shrug of her shoulders and let the topic dropped suddenly rather then answer. How did one explain what she was feeling when he didn't understand. He might feel what she is feeling but unless he knew the whys behind it then he didn't understand. And Rosalie was not going to explain the whys.
---Rosalie turned her back to him and walked over to the table that bordered the garage walls, and picked up some cleaning rags and walked back to her car and started scrubbing the engine. Why did no one else understand?! Why was she the only one!?

Once again, Jasper was not going to push the subject. No matter how often Edward was brought up . . . and then abruptly dropped, he could not stop this moment of silence that immediately followed. He watched her leave . . . and then come back . . . and wondered himself if she would prefer him to leave her so that she could work on her car at peace.
"Would you like to bat first?" It was a bit of a lame and random question -- even Jasper knew that -- but he wanted to change the subject to something more pleasant. And what was more pleasant than baseball?

------ ---Rosalie was running the cloth over a piston head and scrubbing it just enough force to barely keep the metal from bending when Jasper spoke. It wasn't what she though he would ask and it was enough to make her pause. She turned her head and looked up at her brother.
---Jasper could control emotions, so for him to try to lighten the mood of the room with words and not force it spoke volumes. Rosalie's mood lifted and she graced him with a smile, "Yes. Are you letting me bat first so I will be happy, or so you can make sure I make it to home plate?"

Relief swept over Jasper when he saw her smile. Though he did not enforce her mood change . . . he had attempted to change it with mere words. And apparently . . . was successful in doing so. "Perhaps a bit of both." Hitting the ball as hard as possible was -- after all -- and excellent way to relieve one's aggressions.
"I want you to be happy. And I want to win. So perhaps my offer is selfish for it is a result of two things I want." He was joking around . . . but was serious when he told her that he wanted her to be happy. He did not like being around negative emotions . . . and he wanted his sister to let go of all that anger within her. Though it was impossible, it seemed more obvious that she had in moments like these: where she smiled and joked around.

------ ---Contrary to popular believe, Rosalie was not a angry person. She liked to be happy and laugh and play. Emmett allowed her to do that. She just did not back down from her opinions, and sometimes very emotionally showed them. She seemed more then angry lately because of Bella and the secret being out.
---However, Emmett still made her smile and laugh and forced her to play. He made her happy and relaxed because he was. It wasn't anything magical done by brain waves or vampire powers. It was basic, simple and stronger then any magic power could be.
---"UmmmHmmmm." Rosalie teased him, "I think you just want to beat Emmett, and know my batting will give you the advantage you need." Rosalie smiled, "You know Emmett has been trying to hit the ball further and further. We are going to have to try to catch it and not chase it. If we have to chase it, he will make it to home before we make it to the ball."

Jasper smiled. "Indeed. I always look forward to defeating your beloved husband." With the bet that he knew he was going to make with him . . . he needed to beat him. "We will catch it. While Emmett and Edward have the advantage of strength and speed respectively, we will play strategically which will deflate their advantages over us. They will not be able to win if we play intelligently." Jasper was a military man; he treated baseball like a military operation. Sometimes it would work . . . sometimes it would not.

------ ---Rosalie wasn't sure about a military approach but whatever got them the win was fine. She also knew she could not boast about her team being better when her husband was on the other team. She did have her loyalties. "As much as I want to tease you about my beloved husband beating you, I would like to win. So plan away, but don't make up your mind on any one plan." Rosalie smiled slightly, "You'll tip Alice off."

Jasper smiled at her words of advice. They were very true. It was precisely why Jasper did not have a pre-planned strategy. They could not afford the risk of Alice discovering waht it was . . . and she most likely would. Jasper loved Alice, and it was so much easier when they were on a team together so that they did not have to compete against each other. But even in a bet . . . he would consider all things.
"No need to fear Alice discovering our plan. I am currently not aware of it. I will plan once we commence the game. That way, the other team will not have time to counter our strategy." This was Jasper Hale's plan and it was vague enough to be put into effect with no danger of being destroyed.
