Place: Tennessee Mountains Year: 1935
---Rosalie Hale had spent the last two years learning how to be a monster. It was not very easy, it felt too inhuman. The only thing that made it partly bearable was that her beauty had grown, and Esme, her best friend, was there when Rosalie needed to vent or cry.
---Rosalie was glad Esme seemed happy with her husband. Still, it was annoying, and saddening to watch Carlisle and Esme be so completely together. It made her want thing, human things. . .
---She thought of Henry again. Such a beautiful little boy, and her heart broke. She wanted a baby. She wanted to fall in love, and have children and grow old. Royce King had stolen that from her. Rosalie was never sad she had killed him.
---Rosalie was over 100 miles from Carlisle, Esme, and Edward. She could hunt, in peace and not let them see her act the part of the monster and not the part of a lady. That was something, she was not used to, yet.

It was one of Emmett's favorite activities; hunting. Up in the Tennessee mountains. He didn't know what he would find, but hoped that maybe he could catch something big. Of course it wasn't too smart to go hunting up in the mountains by himself, but what's life without a little risk? It was Spring time, so the bears are coming out from hibernation. Hopefully he could catch one.
As he cleared a hill he saw it. A huge Grizzly. His heart was racing, he didn't know if he should risk shooting it because it could get mad. If he missed, the grizzly might try to defend itself. Oh well, he was going for it. This is what he had hoped to find and he found it. He was not chickening out now. He pulled out his gun and aimed. Right when he was about to shoot the bear looked up at him. Emmett froze, holding his breath. He couldn't move at all, something about the way the bear looked at him made him frightened. Suddenly, before Emmett could even react, it charged.
He didn't even have time to react. He didn't think to run, he couldn't think of what he should do. The next thing he knew he was being mauled by the bear. It got to him so fast, he didn't expect it to get so mad. The bear was ripping at him, blood covering its teeth. Everywhere hurt and he felt warm liquid run down his back, down his legs, everywhere. He knew he was going to die, he hoped it would end quickly. The pain was too much, he couldn't see anything, but he could feel it. He yelled out in agony, but the bear only got more furious. He couldn't handle all this pain, he just wanted to die. He knew he would, but it was taking too long. Finally, blackness started to cover his sight. He knew that this was about to be over. So to distract himself he started to think about what heaven would be like.

------ ---She was used to hearing the sounds of animals; both of them living and fighting. So when she heard the sound of an angry bear off into the distance, she ignored it. She was not bear hunting. It did not make warning bells sound in her head.
---Then, the wind picked up. The sent on the wind, made the monster take over, and spurred her into action. Human Blood. She could almost smell the warmth of it as she ran, following the wind. Her mouth filled with venom, and she didn't think. Just ran. The source of the sent would only be a mile or so away.
---When she found the source she was so absorbed into the smell she didn't notice anything else around him. Only the scent of his blood. She leaned over his body on the ground, that was covered in the blood she would soon be drinking. Putting one hand behind his head, to lift him to her lips, she froze. . .
---His head was full of damp curls. Thick, dark curls. Henry. Rosalie dropped him and leaned back as human thoughts and memories filled her and momentarily froze the monster. He was someone's Henry. She looked down at his eyes, and then lips. Henry.
---The force of something hitting her from behind was strong enough to cause her to fall away from Henry. She rolled from the ground and came up into a crouch, to face a very angry bear. Her mind cleared enough to see what she had come upon now.
---She'd interrupted supper. In that moment, Rosalie's mind made it's self up. Henry was hers! She jumped at the bear and forced it back from her attack. She did not let up until the bear, limped away. She did not have time to follow.
---Turning back to Henry, she held her breath, and fought the burning in her. Fought the need that threatened to bring her to her knees and bite him.
---Leaning over him, she brushed his damp hair back, (Damp she saw, from his own blood), then lifted him in her arms, turned and ran. She had to get to Carlisle before his heart stopped. She had to save Henry in the one way she knew how.

Emmett felt the blackness take over him. The pain was still stabbing at him constantly, but once all he could see was blackness, he knew that his suffering was almost over.
He blinked, once he had opened up his eyes he saw a beautiful, blond woman. No, it couldn't be a woman. In all of Emmett's life he hadn't seen a girl as beautiful as the one leaning over his limp body. It had to be an angel. He guessed she was the one to free him of this torture. Finally. The angel lifted his head, looking a little...crazed. Maybe he looked as bad as he felt? He didn't know, but he was too weak to think.
The angel lifted Emmett into her arms. Emmett didn't expect that. He thought maybe she would put her hand on him and they would both disappear into heaven. Guess not. Of course he thought this was strange, but didn't put much thought to it. All he could really focus on was the pain and her beauty, but she made the pain easier to bear.
Emmett suddenly felt like he was flying. He was too weak to confirm this though.. He could barely keep his eyes half open. The pain should have be gone by now, but it wasn't. As the seconds passed, Emmett couldn't even open his eyes. The best he could do was picture her face and try to block out the pain.

------ ---The monster in side Rosalie, and the burning in her, wanted nothing more then to stop and take a sip of the blood that was still coming fresh out of his open scratches and deep cuts. Even while she was not breathing, the mere memory of the smell was enough to almost bring her to her knees.
---However, with one look at his face, and her human side refused to let the monster win. No one was hurting her Henry! Not even herself!
---It seemed to take forever, to each the cottage were Carlisle, Esme and Edward would be. While she could have run twice as far, the battle she was fighting with her self, made it seem as if she had run four times the distance.
---The need to Carlisle was strong but if she inhaled, the smell might be to much. Besides. . . they would all smell this coming. The blood.
---The next few days, would be both easier and harder for her to handle. . .

TWO DAYS LATER Emmett heard a quick, loud thump of his heart...then nothing. He panicked, even though this was what he wanted; to stop suffering and go to heaven. Opening his eyes, he was shocked. Everything was so...clear and vibrant. He didn't expect that this was what heaven would look like, but who really knew? Maybe he wasn't dead, but what els could have happened? He took in a deep breath realizing he wasn't breathing. He paused. There was no relief to that breath of air, it was just....comfortable. It felt like he didn't even need it! And his throat! It burned! What was happening to him?
He looked around and then he saw her. His angel. Standing in a corner, looking at him. "What has happened to me?" Emmett asked, wondering if he even wanted to know.

He looked around and then he saw her. His angel. Standing in a corner, looking at him. "What has happened to me?" Emmett asked, wondering if he even wanted to know. ---Rosalie stood with her hands behind her back in the corner of the room. She was the newest vampire among her family and they warned her how hard it could be to handle him. They knew nothing about him. Not his name, or if he had family. ---He could have a wife and children, they warned her. Rosalie had only saw Henry and only wanted him to not die. Only wanted him. She would deal with everything else. ---"You were attacked by a bear. She was going to eat you." Rosalie moved a few very quick steps closer and stopped, not knowing how h was going to react. "I stopped her, and brought you here." Rosalie wondered if she should spill it all out now or spare him the horrible 'your a monster now' parts until Henry had time to understand.---No, not Henry. He was not her Henry. "I am Rosalie. What is your name?"

Emmett couldn't even think straight. All he could focus on was the fire in his throat. He was craving something, but he didn't know what....and he couldn't remember why he was here, it was all a blur. All he remembered was burning. The rest of his life before that was just a dim memory.
Then, his angel spoke. There was something missing from what she told him, but he could only focus on the sound of her voice now. Why was he getting distracted so easily? Emmett thought about that for a second and came up with nothing, so he gave up and decided he should introduce himself as well. "I'm Emmett. Emmett McCarty,"

"I'm Emmett. Emmett McCarty." ---Emmett. Henry's name was Emmett. It fit him better, somehow, then Henry did. "Hello, Emmett." Rosalie said watching him closely. He seemed to be distracted. Rosalie wondered why for a moment before she remembered her own newborn years. ---"I know how to help the burning." Rosalie took another step closer unsure, if he would allow her closer. Newborns were dangerous, everyone warned her."I can help it, if you want to come with me. We will go hunting." Just not for what he would really crave.

Emmett noticed the way Rosalie approached him like he was....dangerous. Why? What had happened and why was most of his life hard to remember? This was starting to annoy him. Emmett wasn't the patient type.
The back of his mind told him to attack the danger coming towards him. Something about her....about Rosalie made him feel like he didn't need to. She had said something about hunting. How would hunting help stop the fire in his throat?
"Hunting? How will that help...?" Emmett questioned, voicing his thoughts.

- --"Because. . ." Rosalie trialed off, thinking. Trying to word everything just right. "You've changed. Your not Emmett anymore." She shook her head, "I mean, you are Emmett, but not the same Emmett you might be remembering." Rosalie walked around him, leaving a few feet between them, and came to stop next to a mirror.
---"I can explain everything, however,. . . sometimes, seeing how your different is better then me telling you." He might believe it quicker, and she could show him some of the good things before telling the horrible bad things.
