Well, she was more intelligent than Jasper gave her credit for. She had picked up on his attempt to draw out a response . . . he would have to cease underestimating her. He looked at her, still curious and still making her feel calm just in case he asked the wrong question again . . . which would not be unlikely.
"I do not understand. You are . . . jealous?" Even decades of experience of life did not help Jasper understand the complexities of women. Thank God he was with someone like Alice. "I would not understand what is in Jacob Black's mind," he added, as if that justified his obvious confusion.

"I'm talking about being a genetic dead end." Leah said between her gritted teeth. While she felt calm, it was more habbit to go though the phsyicall signs of annoyance. She felt calm, but she was not going to let him see her get all werid on him. "Which I blame leaches for." Since the wolfs only came out in them when Vamps where around for any leagth of time.

Oh. Good thing Jasper continued to manipulate her emotions. Who knows how much she would have burst out in an angry frenzy if he let her feel naturally. Jasper really was unsure what to say . . . she did not like them, and nothing was going to change even after their temporary alliance came to an end. "If it provides any consolation, I am a genetic dead end as well." He did not age . . . at least not in the last 100 plus years, and probably never would. "I have looked this way since the late 19th Century."

"And apparently not any smarter either. I am not talking about LOOKS!" Leah said gesturing in a big wave of her hand back tot he house that held a very pregnant Bella, and the sick Vampie Papa to be. "Apparently, your not a dead end!" Men vampires could have children. Only the females, vampires, and female wolfs (and Leah HATED having ANYTHING in common with them but not the point) could NOT have children. Or worse in her case, Imprint and find someone that would take some of the hurt away from Sam's betrayal. The girl vampires HAD someone to love them. Leah had her brother, and a bunch of men who pitied her.
No, Unlike the female vamps, Leah was going to be alone until she could get over it all, and stop changing. Leah knew she was screwed.

Jasper just stared at her. Wide eyed, as always. If he did not know what to say before . . . then he really did not know what to say now. It finally clicked in his brain, and this moment was awkward.
"I . . . see." That was all he could muster at the moment, as clearly this was not a conversation that someone like him should be having with someone like her. "It is still not that simple for me." If Alice could not have children, then Jasper could not have them.

"Right, right, Vampie-printing." Like Wolf Imprinting. "The point was, you have the opinion if not the want, I want the want but not the opinion so--Wait! Why am I talk about this to you?"
That sounded calm. Damn it, she wanted to yell at him. "You could let me feel a little angry, you know! Not just stand there like you've been stun-gunned and -I'M- the freak with all the weird stuff."

"Were you considering having --" Jasper corrected his phrasing. "A very different life than your current one?" It was his way of asking without really saying it in specific words. "It is hardly an option when your significant other is unable to." For Jasper, it was not an option to have something like this . . . Jasper wasn't even sure if it was something he wanted.
Were they actually have a civilized conversation? . . . Her next words showed how short lived it was.
"You are afraid of looking like a freak in front of a vampire who is controlling your emotions?" Jasper knew that if he had not changed what she was feeling. They would be having a very different conversation . . . if it could have even been called a conversation. "This seems to be the only way we are able to communicate, without someone yelling and throwing a tantrum." And by someone, he meant her. But, she was calm for the time being. Who knows what she was going to do once that was gone. He would not be surprised if she tried to rip him to shreds.

"I was engaged to a man I loved and respected, who now is currently shacking up with my cousin." Past tense. Mostly. "Yes, I was planning a different life style. I was not counting on Vampires returning and kicking in a gene deep legacy and ruining it." It should have been a bitter comment. It was said rather sarcastically calm. As if she was no longer trying to fight the calmness but using it to be a new type of annoying.
"I suppose you were planning to get vamped out and become," She waved her arms, "this." She said to make a point. Their human selfs had plans for there lives that, their new selfs could have.

The bluntness of Leah's statement man Jasper feel even more awkward. And to hear her blame his kind for something that they could not control was even more difficult to hear. "We did not plan for any of this either. Seldom do things happen exactly the way we plan. I am sorry to hear about your . . . situation. However, blaming others . . . sometimes, things happen that we have no control over and it may not be your fault, but it is not all ours either." No wonder she was bitter. He was hearing so many different reasons for it.
He looked down. "No. I did not plan or expect this. Every day is a struggle." He was not going to go into his deep story about his past, but he felt that it was only fair to say something about how he felt. She was telling him . . . even if she did not have full control of the situation. He knew she was at a disadvantage. Of course, once he stopped influencing her emotions, the situation would alter and she would have an advantage.

Leah was not going to feel sorry for him. She didn't even know if she could feel sorry for him if she wanted to because he would only let her feel calm, but in this case she was NOT going to feel sorry about his struggles.
"Yeah, no control, tough brakes." It was a comment made with little emotion behind them and Leah knew that neither of them believe she meant it. No. Leah liked to follow the chain of blame and kill or bitch at whoever she found at the end.

Aaaaand the potential bonding moment was over. He made no comment in response to hers. Instead, he acted. He made her stop feeling calm so that she could get out whatever aggressions she wanted to. Though he remained stationary, he was prepared to leave if she decided to kill him. He was not afraid of her. But he was intelligent enough to avoid her if need be.

Leah felt it all. It happened so fast she knew she never stop it. The anger it. The bastard leach had not even warned her. He was just toying with her! She was going to Eat him, and mail what's left to the rest of the blood suckers! She hoped his wife cried!
Leah fell all the way to the ground this time (being she was still on her knees it was not far), and groaned she she fought the anger. She wanted to be able to pull off her clothes but the perverted leach was just watching her. Leah took in a deep breath and held it thinking of nothing but a brick wall. The dark red bricks, the smell, the cracks and wears in them. How the red brick and light grey cement held them together. How it made patters that one never noticed.
She was not going to change this moment. But he spoke, with one 'making sure' she was calm she would not be able to stop it. Her body shook, trying to change while her mind held back.

The intense anger she felt was overwhelming. Jasper had to calm down himself to make sure that her emotions did not effect him in any way. He was not going to calm her down again because he could not keep doing this as if it were an on and off switch. It was dangerous to let so much anger bottle up in a person. He had to let her release it in whichever way she felt fit.
He watched her, seeing if she was going to phase and lunge at him for causing her to feel so angry all at once. But she still looked human . . . though he wasn't sure if she was fully in control over herself. Jasper stood in a straight, formal posture, just watching her. Just preparing himself for any unexpected situation.
"Will your constant anger and bitter resentment ever cease," he said in a low voice, barley above a whisper. How could she live every moment, of every day with these emotions. Jasper did not know her well, but just spending the time he had with her today . . . those two feelings of hers never stopped.

Leah gave out a hiss but only thought of the bricks once his voice faded. Solid brick. She thought of the dirt on it, the little flaws that you could not see from far away. When you were far away it was just a solid wall. One that stood, and nothing natural could bring down. It was a wall. Simple wall. Simple brick wall.
Leah was calm enough from her own will power, however when she looked up in his forever black and staring face she looked back down at the ground and this time the thoughts in her head even sounded like she was thinking them, between gritted teeth. PLAN and SIMPLE brick wall. SIMPLE and SOLID brick wall.
A few minutes later, after thinking of nothing but the brick wall, Leah raised her head to glare at the vampire.

Her glare was strong . . . but it of course, did not frighten Jasper. He just looked back. He did not even glare back. Just . . . look. Though she had criticized his expression in the past, he could not help it. It was his face. Pale . . . fair . . . wide eyed . . . straight . . . utterly expressionless. Leah did not attempt to conceal her emotions. She expressed them both visibly and vocally. If Jasper did not happen to have the power of empathy control, then maybe he would still be able to detect her emotions. They were not that difficult to determine.
And so, with his Jasper look, he just looked back at her. He was waiting . . . waiting for the transformation. Once it was complete, he would either leave, or stand his ground. Either way, the possibility of a fight was not ruled out.

Leah did not move from the ground. Her knees were cold and wet, under the cold ground, and her hands felt dirty, as they gripped the dirt around them. She just looked up at this pale, creepy face and into his supernatural weird eyes and glared a glared that had made even some wolfs pause a moment. Adrenaline rushed though her and she wondered if he could feel it. The thrill the moment before the attack.
But Leah did not attack, she just glared at him.

As her expression intensified, Jasper was leaning more and more towards the possibility that she was going to attack. The fact that she was silent was unusual . . . since she seemed to like to talk a lot. But now, she was just quietly glaring at him. While Jasper was not uncomfortable, he was starting to wonder what to do. They had a temporary alliance. They could not break it over this . . . right now, the wolves and vampires shared a common goal and to dispute and break their combined efforts over something as trivial -- compared to the big picture -- as this was ridiculous.
Carlisle would be disappointed with him. Edward would be disappointed with him. Alice . . . would be disappointed with him. The thought of disappointing Alice was unbearable. Should he just leave? Could he simply leave her in this state? He hated werewolves . . . but he had caused this.
His expression -- cold and distant -- began to soften. No, Jasper tried to soften it. He was afraid that the strain would look too obvious so he decided to use words instead of facial expressions to alter this situation. "Please, calm down." He spoke as politely as he could, considering that werewolves had been an enemy of theirs for quite some time. He needed to diffuse this situation before leaving it. And he was going to do so without any supernatural ability of his . . . other than his attempted use of his charisma, but all vampires shared that. He just would not control her feelings any more . . . well, right now.

"Just so we're on the same page....If I lose my temper. Don't run." Leah said this next with out the pride attached with bragging. "It would only put me at an advantage." He might be stronger, but she was faster.
Even Leah did not want to be the one to break the treaty. While she would think and plot to kill him, she knew better then to do it. Jake alone would freak out, the leach lover, but it would start something she did not want to bring down on her family. So she admitted to him her greatest strength in effort to make sure he did nothing to un-wittingly provoke her animal side and start them into something they couldn't stop in.
Everyone knew you did not get between or around fighting dogs. They would turn on about anyone in the heat of the moment.

"I would do whatever I need to." Her speed was obviously something she was proud of, but that did not matter. If she attacked, Jasper was not going to retaliate unless he had no choice. He did not consider himself a coward though either, so the image of Leah chasing him while he was running away was unimaginable. "It would be wise not to." His background . . . his combat skills . . . and whatever strengths she possessed . . . well, if they were to fight, it would not end pretty.
One of them could very well end up dead. Just because they had this entire conversation, did not mean either would hesitate before killing the other -- if they had to. In fact, this conversation probably made Leah hate him ever more. Jasper's opinion of her remained the same. All he knew now was that she was far more bitter than he ever would have guessed.

"No, it wouldn't be wise to," Leah said as if misunderstanding his statement. Wither she did that on purpose or it was an honest mistake it would left unsure. She just took his words to mean, he knew it would not wise to run from her. "I can hold my self back, even after losing my temper and changing," She hoped, "But if you run....Well, I'm sure you've heard people say never from from a dog. Think of it like that but on a lager scale." Leah bit out knowing she was giving away more but needed to make sure he understood. She could so easily kill him.

Jasper would not run away. While he wanted to avoid a fight, he would look like a coward if he were to flee from the situation, while Leah chased him. It was not in his nature to avoid a fight like that. Of course, it would be a very serious one . . . someone -- aka Leah -- was bound to end up hurt. Then again, if Jasper said something like 'I would not run' it may sound like he is encouraging her to make the first move. Which he is not. He just is certain that he will not be the first to attack . . . he must maintain his composure. "I am not going to run away, nor am I going to provoke you."
Jasper had completely lost track of time so when the sun began to rise, he was surprised. Was it already morning? He had left in the middle of the night so morning would have only come in a few hours . . . and here it was. He had not expected to be out all night. Leah distracted him. Hopefully Alice was not too worried.
Unfortunately, with the sunrise obviously came the sun. A ray of it shone on Jasper's pale face which exposed his unique reaction. Small diamonds covered the portion of his face where the sun shone on. It was as if someone had put glitter on that one area of his face. It was for this exact reason that they had chosen Forks: a rainy place where the sun barley shone. It was for this exact reason that he never went out in the sun.

It was as if he was TRYING to provoke her with his phrasing. He was purposely saying things that would leave him an out when he--
Oh Dear Lord. Was he glittering?
Leah's face that held the physical signs of her anger and bitterness; the bunched browns, the narrowed eyes, the faded laugh lines where she more scowled then laugh these days, froze for one moment, then it happened, The Change. But not in a way anyone expected.
Leah Clearwater, bitter wolf, and harpy nag burst out laughing so hard tears fell on her cheeks, and her sides would hurt.

Was she laughing?.
Jasper did not think it was funny. He could not help it . . . this was how vampires reacted to sun. And she was making fun of him . . . which he certainly did not appreciate. He just looked at her. Not quite glared, but stared. It was as if he was saying 'Whats your problem? . . . without actually saying it. This wolf was bizarre. First, she looked like she wanted to rip him apart, now she was laughing hysterically. He just looked at her, without the slightest glimmer of amusement.

AT lest the anger was gone. It was hard to glare and be angry at something that looked like Clarie's pale ken doll dunked in glitter glue. Leah (who was still on the ground) leaned over on a tree and was still chuckling while watching him finally get annoyed and show some reaction on his cold dead face.
Suddenly, she didn't feel as if they were so bad ass. How could this be bad ass? It glittered! Glitter was not bad ass.

She was still laughing?! Jasper had never considered that his skin in the sunlight would look so amusing. He just knew it would make them stand out . . . and raise many questions which was obviously something they could not afford to do. But apparently, Leah thought it was hilarious. Jasper was waiting for her to get it out of her system. After all, what could he possibly say to minimize the humor? Clearly, she thought it was hysterical. He just thought she was irritating. But . . . he stared at her and waited for her to stop -- if she ever would -- .

Leah did finally stop laughing but only started chuckling again when she looked at him. With all the sick love story Bella had told Jake and then he thought over at later points this was never one of them. Leah was sure she knew but, apparently is was not a big deal.
Leah leaned against the tree and had a huge grin on her normally bitter face. She just sat and chuckled. Did Jake know? That cold dead blood sucking leaches glittered in the sun? GLITTERED!! HAHAHAHAHAHHA!! How did you hunt prey while glittering? HAHA!

At last silence . . . but not for long. The smile looked unusual on her face. He had spoken to her for a few hours and not once, had seen such an amused smile on her. If she had been anyone but a wolf . . . and had been laughing at something other than his sparkling skin . . . then maybe, just maybe he would not have felt so offended by her laughing so much.
Once it completely stopped, then he would speak. Wait . . . why was he encouraging this? He took a few steps to the side so that he was out of the sun and sheltered under a tree. There. That was better. He just hoped that the sparkling had ceased and then so would her laughter.

Leah had almost stopped laughing when he stepped under a tree. Was he embarrassed or something? Finally showing an emotion besides that dumb ass bored as hell look on his face. Leah laughed at his action. Hehe. Silly Vampie, tricks are for kids. Leah ended her laughing rant on a sighed "Oh...Silly Vampie....As if that will erase the image in my head."
Which only made her laugh more, thinking of it again but this wasn't the wild laugh from before, more a control amused chuckle.

"There are some things . . . many things about my kind that I have no control over." It was like that with any species really. Jasper did not feel he had to justify himself to her. But he did not like her ridiculing him. Never the less . . . he remained as formal and professional as any glittering vampire could in such a situation.
"Why do you think we chose Forks to reside in." Oh dear. If she was going to have this image in her head . . . well, Jasper just hoped the other wolves would not be as immature as she was by laughing about the fact that he sparkled in the sun.

Leah laughed a few seconds again then stopped but did not stop smiling. "Oh Forks....land of the forever gloom." Leah's smile froze as if she had thought of something. The tightening around her eyes went from laugh lines, to narrowed slits. Her grin sarcastic now, and her mood....a mix of anger, depression, bitterness, and oddly enough....pity.
"That is why you picked Forks....twice." Leah looked down at the ground, trying to bring back the image of sparkle boy but when she did it only became another reminder. Damn them. "Want to hear somethin' funny, Dracula?" Her tone was not sarcastic now as her fake smile faded. "In the pack history, we only change when Vampires are around. Two or three males will change at a time. They make the pack. Because you came here, to stay, and stayed so long...."
"Our pack is bigger then ever. Whatever triggers the change keeps happening to us, because you stay around. So instead of two or three males we have eight. And I get to be the lucky one and only female of them all."
Leah was on a rant and there was not stopping her now, "If you and yours had not decided to play human, most of us in the pack right now could have normal lives. We could happy and have family's, and fall in freakin' love!" She was all but crying now. "The funny part? My favorite part of living in La Push? The weather. I loved the cold weather, and how it was light but there was no real sun. Perfect for curling up with a good book, or cuddling with the man you love...."
"THe weather....Just peachy."
