Jasper could not take it any longer. He knew of the dangers. He knew of the risk. But his eyes were dark, and his throat was dry. His strength was gone, and his patience was wearing thin. He had to feed more than the others, and though it was something he was ashamed of, it was nothing he could control. He had to hunt despite the objections of his family. Alice definitely would not be happy with him for doing this.
He was alone but unafraid. His mind was primarily and solely focused on finding a source to quench his thirst. He was speeding past the trees, going deeper and deeper into the dark woods. His hearing was in full alert. The sooner he found something, the sooner he could return home and relax.
He abruptly stopped.
He sensed something was near, and prepared himself for whatever that may be. Hopefully it was a bear. A deer. Something. Anything.
The one thing that Jasper did not anticipate on encountering. . . was a wolf.

Leah was running the perimeter. She liked to run, and with Jake in his human self, and Seth sleeping for once her mind was her own! Finally freedom! She could run her hardest and wear herself thin and sleep without dreaming for tonight. No Seth's annoying up beat thoughts, or Jake's over thinking, no---
EWWW! UHH! The bitter overly sweet smell of a vampire stopped her in her tracks. UHHH! Leah shook her wolf head a few times trying to inhale a plant. Why the hell were they even out of the stinky house anyway? But she knew. Hunger. Uhhhh!
Leah followed the smell (the horrible I want to remove my noise smell) and would the blond boy at the end of the trail. She let out a low growl. It was either meant as a 'WTF?' or 'Why are you out here trying to get killed and make everything we are doing pointless' or a 'Go home moron' type of growl. let him decide.
However, to show she was not going to attack, she did sit. Sit and growl.

Jasper eyed the wolf. The small wolf. Well, smaller than the others he had seen. This was good. It provided some reassurance to him, though not much. He still was fully aware of the fact that she could rip him to shreds. But she would not do that. He had done nothing to prompt that sort of behavior.
He watched it. Listened to it. Returning a small growl under his breath, but loud enough so that it could be heard. He did not have time for this. He couldn't read minds like Edward, so he had no clue what this wolf was planning. It was watching him though. Like a hawk. Oh how he despised them. Now this wolf was going to continue watching him. . . until he made an escape.
Jasper could only run so far, so fast. A wolf's speed could maintain the trail of a vampire. Jasper was running out of strength. He wished he could drink the wolf's blood. But. . . even he was not that stupid. Not that desperate.
A menacing expression formed on Jasper's face as he turned his head. What was that smell? He tried to factor out the stench emitted from the four legged overgrown sized dog. It was. . . food time. Jasper adjusted his stance, waiting to attack what smelled to be a bear. A very large, very delicious bear. Somehow, he found it difficult to concentrate with a wolf sitting there. But never the less, he was going to try. After all, the wolf had no right to prohibit him from hunting. . . right?

Leah watched him. She almost growled the with leach boy growled at her. Oh yeah, a leach with a Edward scissor-hand hair cut was going to make her shake in her fur, she thought with sarcastic. She watched him as the sounds of the Forrest distracted him.
He was hunting! Hey, hey! Look at him squirm! Leah let out a few short barks that sounded almost like a laugh. He had been so bad ass when training the other to fight the new born vampires now he was...so not.
Leah tiled her head and made a fake lunge foe him, then darted the other way her front legs in a sprint before her back legs where off the ground. Leah was the fastest of the all the wolfs. Hell, she had out ran a few vamps on her bad day! Let him try to take her in a sprint. Vamps might not tired out like she did but she could play for a while.
Leah barked and growl to already the bear that they were coming. Come on vampy! Work for your food, humor me then get back to your coffin where you belong.

Bear. Wolf. Bear. Wolf. Jasper quickly moved to the side when the wolf appeared as if it was going to attack him, only to be surprised by the fact that it was. . . was it taunting him? Now, more than ever, he wanted to drink wolf blood.
He quickly regained focus on the wild creature that was approaching, and noticed that the wolf seemed to take a rather keen interest in the bear as well. Surely it could not be as hungry as Jasper. Surely it was just trying to irritate him.
The wolf. . . was taunting him. Mocking him. d**n wolves.
He glared at it, before realizing that the bark had warned the bear and Jasper was too distracted to follow. "Find your own meal," he grumbled as he moved to follow the bear, hoping the dog would stay behind.

Find her own meal? Eww! Leah hated eating raw. HATED! She was going to down anything this big. She would take a dear so she could at lest not have to dig for the meat, and avoid the fat. Werewolf or no, she was going to watch her thighs. She did stop barking, but only so she could try to dart around him, keeping him moving and jumping. This will teach you blood sucker! Next time, keep you un-dead ass at home and let the real predators protect you! When -WE- say it's clean then -You----
Crap! She was ranting at him and he couldn't even hear. Moron.

What in the world was this wolf doing?! Well, Jasper knew what it was doing. It was trying to make his life miserable. It was moving all around him, blurring his surroundings and making it increasingly difficult to move himself. If he moved too quickly, he would collide into the gray beast. What was even worse. . . was that he could not have a conversation with the dog.
Jasper growled again, this time, a little louder than the last. "Go home to your kennel dog. My business does not concern you." He was hungry! It was not a crime to be hungry. Usually Jasper would simply keep quiet, but extreme hunger led to extreme crankiness and thats exactly what he was right now; cantankerous.

Leah laughed in her head. Oh what fun it is to ride a vampire's crazy brain! HEY! She sang in her head to the theme of a Christmas song. Crazy leach, crazy leach crazy all the way! tails on werewolf's twitch, making cranky rise, oh what fun it is to ride a vampire's crazy brain....HEY!
Leah trotted all happy over to him and sat before him, looking very smug for a wolf. She jerked her head in the direction of the Cullen home in a silent command. LEAVE BLOOD SUCKER!

The fact that she was so happy was making him angry. He was not happy. He was far from happy.
Calm down.
She kept trotting around. . . happily. Damn her happiness.
Relax. Stay still. Calm down.
He was trying to get the overly enthusiastic beast to sit still so that he could make a run for it. So that he could get his prey, eat, and go back home. So that he would not have to waste his endless life surrounded by a wolf. An annoyingly happy wolf.
Jasper was glad he was too cranky to let her emotions affect him. He hoped he was not too weak to get her to do what he wanted to. Of course, once he was out of sight, he would take calmness with him. But he could enjoy the peace while it lasted.

Leah was one moment, trotting around and then sitting there silently mock leach boy when suddenly....NO! She started to feel calm. She knew in her head she should feel a panic at getting calm. She might unphase and show up nude around the blood sucker! AND she should be angry at him doing this to her.
However, Leah only felt calm and relaxed. Leah gave a sigh that sounded lazy and relaxed. She thought calmly, about ripping his head off. She couldn't even growl at him.

Jasper was unable to withhold a smile. At least, the wolf was calm. He knew that he could not keep it like this forever. He had to eat. And that was of course, the sole reason Jasper was out in the woods . . . alone . . . in the middle of the night. He quickly turned and sped through the trees, aware of the limits his powers had. It would only be a matter of seconds until the creature would be back to himself, ready to further irritate the hell out of Jasper.
He paused to inhale, tracking the scent of the bear that was slowly getting away. And then, he saw it. He lunged at it, not wasting a second as his teeth sunk into the furry beast. Oh the sensation . . . the moment of triumph. Jasper was enjoying himself far too much to let the possibility of the wolf returning to his presence, disturb this moment.

If the leach was not making her feel so gosh darn calm then she would be very grossed out by watching him drink that. What a gross thing. Leah could almost feel calm puke comming up.
ok! That's it!! Calmly Leah turned and walked away. She walked where she would be hidden and unphased, then dresses and calmly walked back to where he was but keep her back to him. "Either stop playing with my emotions or I'm gonna calmly bite you." Leah who was feeling very calm, barely managed to make it sound threatening.

Jasper tuned out the voice of Leah. Wait. . . the voice. He had not been paying close enough attention to realize that she had phased back to her human form. He was enjoying his meal far too much, and as he wiped the drops of blood from his chin, he looked at her. Well, the back of her.
Wait. . . her. HER?! This was enough to grasp Jasper's full attention. He continued to look at her . . . her. There were such things as women werewolves? This was highly bizarre. He tried to control the shock on his expression, which was not too difficult as such an expression was often frozen on Jasper's face. He did not know what to say . . . so he continued on the subject they had discussed before, but no doubt, he would comment about being in the presence of a female wolf.
"Do not interfere with my business, and I will have no need to effect your emotions." With those words of advice, he turned back to the motionless animal lying there, and sunk his teeth into it, biting through the fur and making sure the noise was slightly exaggerated so that the woman wolf could hear him.

Leah would have glared at him if she wasn't feeling to calm to be angry. She would be angry at this had she been allowed. "I interfered because we are defying our own kind, and risking our necks for you and your pet human and you thank us by wasting out efforts."
It would have sound bitter but Jasper was very good at what he did, which would annoy her, and the annoyance would turn to anger had he not been keeping her calm.

"I must disagree." Her 'calmness' also made him calm. It was so much easier to have a conversation with a werewolf when you had a certain power over them. Of course, once this was gone, she may not be the happiest pup in the pack. "I did not waste anyone's efforts. I must eat. We are surviving on animal blood so that we do not break the treaty established between our kind and yours."
Jasper paused and looked carefully at her. "We appreciate your help. My family is very grateful to you." He was speaking collectively so that it would not sound like he was singling himself out. Bella was part of his family now after all . . . he was grateful. Perhaps not as much as Edward, but still. She, Jacob, and Seth were certainly helping them a great deal. "Why must you be so hostile when we are trying to work in alliance with one another?"

It was hard to be hostile when a blood sucker was making you feel peachy. Leah had to fake most the hardness in her voice, which would have made her feel silly and annoyed but she couldn't. Even ranting at him and thinking of ripping off his head and using it as a werewolf chew toy, was hard with being so calm.
If werewolves had not relied on there anger so much, had it not been something so hard to control, then Leah might not be able to even fake the it. "Look, Vampie. Any girl would be annoyed by you toying with there emotions. Stop." Leah had just ignored everything he ranted in the weird English that had nearly put her asleep in sleep.

"Whether I was or was not, you would still be annoyed. I can feel your irritation every time you are near one of my kind. At least by emanating some degree of calmness to you, it makes you less frustrated." He did however, cease. "You can not tell me you did not enjoy the feeling of serenity." He used this sort of thing usually to calm people down in tense situations. However, this time . . . he had used it to get away from her.
He continued to look at her. Stare at her rather. "Are there many female werewolves in existence?" He suddenly asked, rather interested in the concept . . . may as well get to know what he could right now. He doubted that they would have another civil conversation in the near future.

She finally looked up at him in her forced calmness when he started speaking, a calm sarcastic remark and an order to stop already in her though when the bitterness, hate and worse; The Anger, flooded her.
Her arms shook and her knees crumbled, as she fell to them under the weight of the anger that threaten to bring on The Change. With in a few moments she had it under some sort of control. For werewolves the anger brought on the change. Until they could control it enough to stop changing they would forever be frozen like they are now.
Leah stood back up but her arms still shook. She had some control. The fact that Leah was thinking along this lines, of being frozen (which made her bitter), when the leach spoke of her being the only female werewolf she growled a human growl.
"I did not enjoy a false feeling!" Leah took a deep breath, "There are b-billions of us!!" It sounded like a lie even to her. Even if Jasper could not read emotions he would recognize the bitterness he saw from what she was from his own sister's bitterness. Leah's went a bit deeper in the way of her change had caused her father to have a heart attack and die. She blamed herself for that.

So many emotions flooded Leah. Perhaps Jasper had been too hasty in removing the calm aura he had once surrounded her with. The most apparent was anger. But bitterness . . . guilt . . . ones that he did not expect. Should he question her? Or would that just make her even more angry?
"It does not seem like there are. Is that why you feel bitter? What is it that you feel guilty about?" Jasper was apparently willing to risk angering her more. While she was so angry, he remained calm. Composed. After years of experience, it was easy for him at this point. "I am simply asking these questions out of mere curiosity. My goal is not to ridicule you."

"I am NOT b-bitter, you blood sucking leach!" He might have been willing to risk her anger, but was he ready to receive it, would become the question. Leah's whole body was slightly shaking now. Yes, she was bitter, and she knew it, and knew he knew it which made her angry and bitter.
"Why do you drink animal blood? Even you can't stomach what you are?" She meant it as an insult/question. She would feel better if he did SOMETHING beside stand there like he was the freak! He just stared at her and asked questions! She could use him as a chew toy if she so wanted!

Her strong, defensive remarks made him aware that she was lying . . . even if he did not happen to have the ability of sensing others emotions. "Even you do not believe that."
Even you can't stomach what you are
Those words did affect Jasper, but not to the point of lashing out. He merely averted his gaze to the ground, his expression transforming into a deep, contemplative one. Perhaps she had not necessarily meant it -- wait. He had to consider who he was talking about. She obviously said it to hurt him. And the fact that Jasper had such a violent past -- one that he was ashamed of -- made her achieve her goal.
"We . . . " He looked back at her, trying to conceal his own guilt. "Do not want to hurt anyone. We drink animal blood so that we can survive."

OH! GOODNESS!! It almost took what little fun there was, out of being bitter when they didn't fight back. Almost. Leah gave a frustrated growl but managed to calm down (some) with him not asking questions about her. When his pathetic comments made her feel slightly annoyed that she felt sorry for the comment she made she managed to give a slightly less bitter comment. "I suppose that maybe your less evil then the other blood suckers we've...meet." Killed.
"And, yes...." She gave in a little since she was feeling calmer on her own doing and not his, (she hoped anyway), "...I am the only female wolf." However, that only brought the bitterness back.

Had Jasper been evil? Of course he had. He had murdered not only humans, but his own kind because . . . because they had used up their usefulness. The thought of recalling his past . . . there was a reason Jasper was the most quiet and distant one out of his family. There was a reason he was the weakest one.
"I agree. There are those out there who have no been introduced to the concept of being a vegetarian vampire, or choose not to live that life. We are no threat to humans here." He wished he could convince himself that he was no threat to humans. He could say it with more conviction by using the term we . . . his family.
"If that is so, why are you so . . . bitter. Do you lack pride in who you are and therefore, wish you were someone different?" Jasper did not know the mind of a werewolf . . . least of all a female werewolf.

There was a outraged gasp, that lasted half a second shorter then it should due to The Anger taking over. Her body shook and she fell to her knees, knowing there was no way to stop The Change this time. No bring her anger back from the edge. THE BLOOD SUCKER DARED TO COMMENT ON HER PRIDE!! When the change DID happen, and her clothes gone, she was going to EAT HIM!

Oops. Oh dear. Jasper did not want her to transform back so that they could have another staring and growling match with each other. He quickly gripped hold of her emotions, transforming that anger that was causing her to change . . . into a calm, more relaxed reaction. Jasper usually used this ability of his when it benefited others, and right now, this seemed to be a prime situation to use such a power.
A thought did occur to him. He had hit a nerve. Maybe next time he should phrase things differently . . . or not. He could just do this again if she became upset by his words for a second -- or wait, was it a third, maybe fourth -- time.

The Change, didn't happen. The Clothes, didn't rip apart from her size. The Anger, faded. Damn him. She thought annoyingly calm like...again. He couldn't even let her get angry enough to eat him!!
Leah looked up at him. She'd let the emotion control go for the moment. She had not actually wanted to lose this pair of pants, and eating him actually sounded gross. "I have pride in what I am. You know...nothing." She stayed on her knees not wanting to again stand up only to fall right back down when he stopped Calm-Bombing her.

Thankfully, she remained human. While Jasper was in fact thankful for that, perhaps he did not anticipate that she was able to verbally express her anger and irritation to wards him. There were benefits to her not being able to talk as a wolf . . . he would not have to listen to her rants.
"Then tell me." Calmly. "Why is it you feel that way." Jasper did not sleep. He was fully regenerated. His patience was not wearing thin. He could ask this question as many times as necessary in order to get a response.

"If you tell me why you want to know so bad, I will tell you why I feel that way." Her voice was calm and she would be annoyed later on about that. "Don't give me the lame just wondering line either." She mocked his voice that was meant to draw in humans as prey. It only sounded bad to her wolf ears, even when she was human.

Jasper paused thoughtfully. What better answer could he give her rather than: he was just wondering. "I will elaborate then. I do not know a lot about your kind, and so it makes me curious. It is just something that I want to know more about." Maybe by paraphrasing and saying more than three words, it would make it easier for her to tell him . . . yeah right. Jasper was not quite sure he would get an answer that easily.

"That is just a long drawn out way of saying Just Wondering." Leah said calmly since she couldn't be annpyed. Maybe the calmness was sitting in. Leah HAD been a nice and happy person before britterness changed her. Britterness at her self, Sam, Emily, the world. "Look, I can see in Jake's head...not the most sane place to be about nows, but still....I think you know why I am bitter. I've seen your sister. Times that by about 100 and add in some other iusses."
