Aro no longer wore the black robes of the Volturi those were gone. He had nothing, no power, not even his love. Aro kept going through different moods one minute he would be plotting on how to get his revenge on how to gain his power back. But the next he would begin to see how hopeless it was how he had nothing. But he knew he could change that he would. He would make everyone fear him once again. No vampire would go against his word. Whatever he did would not be questioned if destroying one vampire would keep others loyal then why not? He would be the leader of them once again he would be on his own if he had to.
Aro was in America but where exactly he wasn't sure. He knew he was in the south somewhere. He hadn't been keeping track of where he was. His thoughts consumed him. His eyes were black with thirst, but he didn't bother hunting right now. He was trying to figure out how to gain his power, if it was even possible. His cloths were modern, but dark. He didn't much care for this look he would much rather have his pure black robe that told everyone he was in power. But he wasn't in power so he couldn't be to picky about what he had.
The more Aro thought about it the angrier it made him. He made the Volturi what they are and they betrayed him his brothers Marcus and Caius. He made them powerful and feared. Aro made his way into a large city he wasn't sure which one it was nor did he really care. He picked up the scent of vampires but didn't even bother trying to figure out if he knew any of them. His throat burned. How long had it been sicne he hunted? It had been to long it was difficult to focus on anything but his thirst around these weak humans.

Damn it! What was Aro doing here?!
Maria thought as she picked up Aro's scent and looked back at her army of eight. It was lucky day that they were downwind from Aro or he would know about them already. "Mr. Joshua." She spoke to her 'helper'. "Take them hunting a few miles from here. Perhaps Mexico. Don't come back until tomorrow." She ordered and then turned and walked off.
No use waiting for a reply. Her orders were not questioned in her army. It was do, or die. Maria took a long, slow annoyed deep breath and let it out, placing a smile on her face as she started running to Aro. She was good at pretend. She could fake almost any emotion, as long as Jasper wasn't around to read her.
Once she was in sight of Aro she chuckled. "My, my, my Look who has come to visit little me--" She broke of noticing the change. There was something different. Something that made her feel very uncomfortable. Maria didn't like the unknown. This was the unknown.

Aro had been lost in thought he hadn't even heard someone approach. It wasn't until he heard a familiar chuckle and voice did he turn to see who it was. Maria. Was he in the southwest already? So close to Texas. He hadn't really been paying attention to where he was going. He was busy plotting trying to gain his power. But knowing it was almost impossible to do so. He had made sure the Volturi were unstoppable and now it was his downfall. All that work for nothing it angered him. Not being properly fed was another thing he disliked his eyes were most likely black. He hadn't fed in some time and was growing thirsty being surrounded by so many humans.
"Maria," Aro finally said his voice was not as cheerful as it would have been if this was an old friend visiting him. No that was not going to happen for some time. Perhaps it was a good thing he never read her thoughts or had to kill her. "I hadn't realized I was so close nearby if I had known I would have most certainly came to see you," Aro added. Word of his downfall probably hadn't spread if any did know. Marcus knew if word that Aro had been nearly destroyed that would make the Volturi weak. Maybe that's what they needed. Even though he hated the Romanians if they found this out maybe they could challenge Marcus and Caius destroy them take back their power. Aro had before taken control over them it wouldn't be that difficult he was sure. He was on familiar ground when planning to attack the Romanians.
But first he had to figure out where to go from here. Wherever here was he didn't even know what to call it. He had no power, he didn't even have his love. He had absolutely nothing. His talent was all he had left and even that wasn't very helpful right now. He would kill Marcus himself he would enjoy his death he would make it very slow and painful. But how to get to him through the Volturi. Who were the guard loyal to more him or Marcus. He was the one that put them in power. Aro wasn't sure if any of his emotions had been displayed on his face his depression his anger at Marcus nor did he really care trying to hide what he was feeling. Aro smiled slightly looking at Maria she would have the tools needed to gain power. She knew how to create a newborn army how to train them she had for her 'protection' and this could help him. Yes it was against the rules but he needed his power more than anything. "I"m glad to have run across you," Aro said after thinking about everything. "Perhaps you can be of service," Aro said his smile growing. If he had her help he could take back what was his. He just needed someone else who could help him take over.

Maria was not liking this. Once moment Aro sounded . . . weak, sad? The next he was smiling and looked like his mind was running a million miles an hour. Maria was not slow nor stupid. She knew something was gravely wrong and Aro had just seen a why to turn the tables using her as a pawn.
How many times had Maria not done the same thing? How many times had she played people to get what she needed and then left them to take the fall. Hundreds. More then hundreds. She was no pawn. She wasn't going to take any fall Aro had planned. Let him use his gaurd. . .
Were was the guard? And Aro's cape? Where were the deadly assassins that followed him to protect him? Maria was catching on quickly. Had someone attacked him? Had someone managed to take down his guard and Aro only just escaped with his life?
"Aro, Dearest, you look shaken." She said ignoring the fact he requested her help, "Perhaps you should eat someone, to help calm down and think clearly?"

Aro laughed at her nothing could calm him down and he was thinking clearly. Maybe he was thinking to much that might be the problem. "Until I gain my power back," Aro said his laughing stopping immediately. "There really isn't much that can help me." Aro frowned once again he seemed to do that a lot lately and who wouldn't in his situation? Everything he had was taken from him and he didn't have any idea if he could get it back. Even if he did have Maria's help. But would she even consider helping him? He hadn't killed her and allowed her to keep her secrets but would that be enough? He was even willing to allow her to break one of the rules he enforced. A rule he would gladly break to gain his power back. He would do anything to gain it back.
He would kill Marcus once he saw him. Once he was able to get to him. If he was. What if he was to return to Volterra would the guard remain loyal to him? After all he made them what they are. Or would they go with their new leader Marcus. He growled in frustration he didn't know how to get out of this situation. It was driving him mad. Maybe that's what was happening to him maybe he was going insane. Can vampires even go insane? He didn't know he had killed a few vampires who seemed that way no longer caring to keep the secret.
The secret! Of course he could lead them out one by one Marcus wouldn't send all of them Alec and Jane would probably be first if he could find out to avoid their power maybe he could stop them. But Jane had always been Aro's favorite if sent would she really destroy him? Maybe Marcus would question that and not even send them. Maybe he would send another guard but he knew them all and their power. He could find a way to destroy them they were his guard. But now they weren't. But would he be willing to break the greatest rule they enforced keeping their existence a secret?

Get his power back?
Get his power . . . .Back?!
Get his . . . .POWER . . . .BACK?!!!?
Maria would have smiled slowly if that would not make it appear she was clinging to the words. She watched him, how he appeared and spoke. He looked like he had been having the worse day of his 3000 years. Maria had to force her lips not to move this time. She just stood their like stone while her mind worked over these words. "Aro, dearest, what has been done to you?" She questioned in a frightened voice as if she feared whatever was big enough to do this to Aro. She wasn't. Maria, like any general knew that once the mighty had fallen once, the 2nd and third blows could kill them off.

Aro's eyes went back to Maria as she asked him what had been done to him. He almost growled at her. He had been thinking over what had been happening him since it did happen. He wanted to do something he held so much anger right now at Marcus at his guard, at the Volturi he was apart of! Aro shifted his eyes once again away from Maria deep in thought once again. How would he gain his power would he be willing to break the rules he himself had laid out? And how would he exactly reveal himself to the humans. Their were several different ways and he didn't really have to reveal himself. He could plan it make it seem like some crazy vampire. Although he was thinking like an insane vampire right now . . .
He just needed a little bit of time to sort things through. His eyes narrowed he would kill Marcus himself he wouldn't leave it to anyone else. He would make sure his death was anything from peaceful. He might kill Caius as well he had sided with him. Was it not him who had come up with the plan to overthrow the Romanians? Was it not him who gave him the power they had? He had created the guard, it had been his idea! Who were they to take that all away from him. So he killed his sister, Marcus mate, he did to ensure they kept their power. Neither of them seemed to understand that. It was no longer their power no more plurals it was his power and it would be his soon. He wouldn't let anyone else help him lead what was his in the first place.
He knew he was glaring at some object instead of paying attention to Maria. His eyes went back to her. She sounded a bit concerned, but he could never be to sure about it. He never really trusted her, could he trust her to keep her mouth shut about what Marcus had done? Could he ask her to help him gain his power back what could he offer in return to that? He could most certainly over look what she had done even creating newborn armies which he was thinking about doing himself. He needed someone experienced with that. But would she even accept he couldn't be sure. He looked away once again he had never been so confused and unsure it made him all the more angry. "Marcus," Aro's voice was full of hate and anger when he said his name. This was all Aro said in response to her question. His eyes went back to her waiting to see her response.

Marcus? If Maria had been slower, she would have wondered how that happened but she could catch on. She knew the rumors of why Marcus was depressed, so it wasn't like it was a fight for power. This had to be deeper, for the Volturi to get up casting out their most powerful leader. What had Aro done to cause the boring Marcus to react do perminitly? Where they keeping Aro from his mate? Judging from his mood it was that or she was dead. . . .or had left him? No, not that one, surely. Hmmmm. It had to be something dramatic enough for Aro to end up like this. "Aro, I fear I do not understand. Your coven has done this to you?"

Aro glared at Maria though she probably didn't deserve any of his anger. He wanted to kill Marcus he wanted to kill someone right now. "Marcus," Aro growled his name Aro started pacing back and forth deep in thought. "I will kill him. I'll make it long and painful he'll regret the day he did this to me!" Aro said under his breath not even paying attention to Maria at the moment. He was to wrapped up in his own thoughts. "I gave him the power he has! I created the guard! I made the Volturi who they are today!" Aro continued on and on talking about how it was him that had done so much for the Volturi. Aro suddenly stopped his eyes probably wild as he kept thinking about all he had done he didn't even know he had spoke it out loud or not. He looked back at Maria as if he just realized she was there.
So many choices, so many decisions. But which one to do and when? How was he going to gain his power back? He would gain his power back he was sure of that. Yes he would go with his plan to bring the guard out one by one destroy each one that would not remain loyal to him. He would kill them he knew them all! It would be a simple task, but one he knew he could not do alone. He continued to look at Maria still deep in thought on what he was going to do. To think not to long ago he was here punishing those who dared to create newborn armies and making the humans suspicious. And yet here he was deciding if he would go against his own rules even if just for this one time. He would make sure everyone feared him that no one and he meant no one would go against his word, his decisions!
"Maria," Aro said finally addressing her instead of talking to himself like he probably had been doing. "My dear," Aro said his voice a bit more gentle, but still cold and harsh. "I was wondering if you would help with a small favor." Aro paused thinking of how to phrase his words exactly. "Something I know you have much experience in and I'm afraid I have none unless you include the thoughts I have read in the past." Aro wonder if she would grasp what he was asking of her to help him create an army to drag the guard out so he could destroy them if they remained loyal to Marcus.

Maria still did not understand what was going on. She wanted to know the WHY! WHY had his coven done this to him. WHY was he left alive when he would be less trouble dead? She watched him closely trying to dig the answers from his actions. Trying to understand what was happening before she---
Was he asking for the skills they both know she had but he had never caught her using? Her new born skills? She watched him closer, wondering if this was a trap. She wanted the Volturi dead more then Aro in power, if they were weak now, she could gather the southern covers and lead them to Italy with armies in tow? "Aro, please," She spoke as if he scarying her, "Tell, Maria what has been done to you."

"Nothing that can't be fixed," Aro replied guarded. He wasn't about to let her know to much. He may feel slightly crazy right now, but he had better control then to tell everything. Aro turned away from Maria once again ignoring her again. He had to think things through how could he gain his power. He closed his eyes in concentration remembering all the thoughts he had once read. So much had happened in three thousand years. But each memory each thought was perfect. He thought to the very beginning how he gained his power in the first place things had been very different. He had Sulpicia by his side then and he would no more. Aro opened his eyes it was not best to think about that part of his life right now. How he gained power of the Romanians was what he would focus on. He had made the Volturi first searched for vampires that would have talents those that would gain him power. Though at the time they were no thought of as the 'Volturi.' He could do the same thing he supposed.
Aro was in a fairly large city right now he could focus on humans and vampires alike those that would have potential create an 'army' maybe not like the newborns completely out of control. He needed older vampires as well those with talents, but where to find such vampires? So much to plan so much work to do. He hadn't had to do this in over two thousand years he didn't like having to gain his power back. It should be his already! But could he really do this on his own? Last time he had both Marcus and Caius who willingly helped him. Even Didyme and Sulpicia helped to an extent. But he was so much wiser than when he had first tried to gain power. Perhaps this time would be easier something he could do without help.
But how to gain his power back? Did he start here in search of vampires or humans that had talents? He wouldn't be able to know for sure if a human would have some sort of talent or not he would be guessing. Aro didn't like guessing he wanted something he knew for sure. A couple of his guard were able to do what he wanted right now. Even if he found a human who might have some talent when changed it wasn't always solid they might have a useless talent or none at all like several that were changed did. Even if he did gain a big enough army would they be able to stand against the Volturi? He hated the thought of going against his own, but he had no other choice. Maybe things would go different perhaps the guard would be loyal to him and turn against the Marcus. Aro once again turned his attention back to Maria he suppose she was annoyed with him constantly ignoring her. That wasn't like him he usually was threatening her life or something similar.

It can't be fixed? Maria wondered where that comment came form. Something he was thinking of in his head and replying to out loud. Maria felt the the warning prickles on the back of her neck. Something was wrong here, and wronger then he had assumed. Something had made his strong vampire mind, less, Aro like and slower or more human. She knew she might never know what happened, but sure was sure she didn't want to be around when his past caught up with him. Aro had pissed allot of people off, apparently his own coven too. If vampires learned he was here and unprotected. . .
Maria tried once more, to learn more about this, "Aro, dearest darling. Tell Maria what can't be fixed."

Aro looked at Maria when she tried once again asking what had happened. His power. Aro growled he was going to get his power back it was his no one was going to take it away from him. He would break every rule he had made if he had to! He would get it back there was nothing that would stop him. "Marcus," Aro said his name with nothing but hate. "Will pay for this I will kill him!" Aro was certain of that. He would kill him he would make it long and painful. He would make sure he was the one that killed him he would not let anyone else destroy him that would be his job. Aro narrowed his eyes how to get to him?
He was protected by the guard, his guard! Would Marcus be creating more adding to them? So much to think about, so much to plan. And what exactly to do? Aro looked at Maria what if she had stayed out of trouble as she claimed all those times? What if his suspicions that she had been in trouble was not true? Aro wasn't sure what to do right now. He was stuck here wondering around aimlessly thirsty his throat was burning being in the city. He could pick up the human scents so easily it wouldn't be that hard to chase one down to satisfy his thirst. But would it really do any good? He would be stuck in the same spot his thirst satisfied yes, but he would be more focused on what had happened to him. He would be planning even more.
"What to do?" Aro questioned out loud speaking mostly to himself. He was not use to be around someone else. He wonder how he appeared did he seem crazy like he feared. He was unsure about what to do and that was very unlike him. He always, always knew what to do. But never in his three thousand years had he ever been in a situation like this. He was determined to gain his power back he would just have to plan and figure out how.

This was not working. Maria wanted to smack him and try to make him foucse. She had a feeling her army would parade by dragging humans and changing vampires behind them and Aro wouldn't notice. Which meant he was only half aware of her, and that annoyed her. She was still worried over whatever had done this to the most powerful vampire. Still, fear had never held her back for long.
"Aro," She said slower then humans would say it, "What--did--Marcus--Do?" She was getting annoyed in repeating her self, and it might be showing her voice now. She needed to know what had happened in order to plan her next moved. Did she move to over take her city or to over take the world?

Aro needed to stop getting distracted in his thoughts this wasn't doing anyone any good. He could focus on his thoughts later when he was alone when Maria wasn't so close by when he would be by himself. But he had to figure out what to do! He had to try and take his power back there were so many ways he could. But his plan to draw the guard out and destroy them was the best plan. Though he could wait see if the Romanians found out and maybe they would take the chance to over take the Volturi at long last. Then Aro could destroy them he wouldn't let them live this time.
Aro looked at Maria when she questioned what Marcus had done. He frowned a bit more remembering exactly what he had done. He had forced him out of his city out of Volterra he left him so he could not get his power. His guard, his loyal guard, removed him from the city. And if that wasn't enough Marcus had killed Sulpicia. "He threw me out, he took control," Aro replied giving her an answer. He had killed Didyme Marcus' wife, Aro's sister. He found out he didn't know how but once he did he was going to kill whoever told him. And most importantly Aro was going to kill Marcus he was going to make sure of that!
Aro's expression probably changed as he thought of Sulpicia. He did really love her she was important to him and though he craved his power more she had always been with him. for nearly three thousand years she was by his side and now she was no more. "He had . . .," Aro voice was barely a whisper. Aro stopped himself from finishing his sentence Maria didn't need to know about Sulpicia's death another reason to kill Marcus. Aro could feel his emotions starting to get the best of him. One moment he was full of anger, next depression, hopelessness. He hated this! Absolutely loathed the idea of not having power. Aro was back to being angry at Marcus as he usually was and his expression usually so careful and calm was revealing everything he felt. It was not normal, it wasn't him.

Aro, the great and mighty and powerful had bee cast out but his own? Maria had many years of practice or she would not have been able to hold back the smile that wanted to cross her face. Aro had been cast out, and the Volturi were weak! Oh the things she could imagine doing to poor little Aro here. He was alone and if they had cast him out she doubted they would rise and challnege her in revenge. There would be no more threats from his lips to her ears. No more jobs or favors. She could have him killed here and now if she wanted.
Oh how the mighty had fallen.
Another thought crossed her mind, a half second after he trailed off his statement. Aro had BEEN the Volturi. While there were three leaders, Aro had been the main one, the name people feared and remembered most then the Volturi were whispered about to new vampires as stories. "He had, what, Aro?" She spoke kindly and softly as if she was afraid to know, but inside she wanted to know. She needed to know more as her plan formed.
No, Aro wouldn't die today, not by her hand or an other's. . . she had a new plan forming, twisting around her in brain. Maria's plans rarely failed, and today she had began her greatest plan of them all.

Aro glared at Maria when she questioned further. "Nothing to important," Aro replied. It was a lie but Aro was not going to tell Maria what all Marcus had done. He killed Sulpicia just as Aro had killed Didyme. Aro had killed to make sure he kept his power, and Marcus. Marcus had killed Sulpicia for revenge and no other reason. Aro loved Sulpicia he truly did and he missed. Even if he missed his power more he knew Sulpicia had always been with him. It was so strange, so different not having her. Aro had no other choice but to kill Didyme he was not going to let Marcus leave him! It was Didyme's idea to leave not Marcus' he was happy where he was in power and with Didyme. But if there was anything Marcus could have done for Didyme to make her happier he would do so. And that even meant leaving the Volturi. Aro had killed Didyme to make sure he kept he kept his power.
What if Aro had let them go through with their plans to leave him? Marcus was one of the leaders of the Volturi and was needed it took three of them that's the way it always has been. He knew they wouldn't have been able to accomplish as much as they had without Marcus. Now how would the keep their power without him?
Aro was in most ways thought of as the true leader. He came up with most of the plans. Aro made sure the Volturi looked justified in their actions. All his work into making the Volturi what they are was for nothing right at this moment. All those years of planning all that work to make sure everyone knew who the Volturi were. They were weak now without him. Caius who always wanted to destroy anyone who opposed them Aro was not so quick in his actions. He thought everything through. Now that Marcus was no longer emotionless would he be ruled by his own anger and need for revenge? He would probably side with Caius and agree with him. Aro was the one who should be in control he should be in power. They would fall quickly without them and be begging for him to come back. He was sure of that now that he thought about it.

"Nothing important? Aro dearest. . . " She was started to bit be able to hide the slightly annoyed tone in her voice, "You said I might be of service but if your not willing to tell little Maria what is going on, I have no idea of how I am supposed to help you!"
Not sure, she knew how she was going help him. Even if he got control of the Volturi after this, she was going to make sure, Aro knew who was in charge. She was going to show Aro the side of 'little Maria' he had never seen of before. He was not used to the fight, he was used to giving orders. . . . Maria, while gave orders, knew how to control wild newborns.

"There is nothing more you need to know," Aro almost growled at Maria he was getting angry. It was not his character to show if he was angry or not. Over the years he had been angered, but he was good at keeping his face calm revealing nothing at all. But now, now he had no power he had nothing! He was suppose to be in control and he was not going to tell anyone anything if he didn't want to. If anything they should be telling him what he wants to know. He will soon be power he was sure of that. Once he gains his power everything will be better. He will be the only leader of the Volturi he will make decisions and decide what they should do. He can't trust any one else to be in control of what is his. He didn't want a repeat of this ever again.
If Aro said something then it was not to be questioned. And yet here he was telling Maria over and over what had happen was not important. He would not let her know that Marcus had killed Sulpicia out of revenge. It was because of him she was dead. Aro didn't like that thought he was not going to focus on this part of what Marcus had done. And wouldn't have to if Maria kept questioning him what had happened. He could give her some other excuse he supposed if she really wanted an answer. Not being in control having everyone listen to you and not question your statements was difficult and much different. He needed his power.
"You will help me?" Aro questioned sounding a bit more calmer than before. He was still upset to be sure he was always upset or angry. He hadn't been really calm since Marcus had thrown him out. He was a mess. He didn't like this it hard to change. When you've been in power for over three thousand years and giving orders and doing what you want. It was difficult to change and Aro didn't want to change. He would gain his power back, he would be in control.

Maria didn't blink when he growled but took a measured step back and started walking. Start slowly, human like slow, circling him. It was, as if she was pacing the floor. She took measured steps, never removing her eyes from him. She was thinking. "Aro, Dearest."
It was not her normal purr. It was sharper, as if she was talking to a minion rather then someone above her. "You have asked for my help, and I while, I might be so inclined to help you, I only work one way." She spoke, "My way. I do not make a plan of action with out knowing every detail. I learn everything about my foe so that when the battle comes, it happens in one swift moment, and not in years of blood shed." She watched him, letting him see into parts of her past by her words.
Letting him know about her 'gifts' as one might call her talent. "I know what you want of me. I can bring down Volturi. Bring down only parts of it if I plan it right. Giving you your life back. However, you refusse to play the game my way, you do it on your on."
"Your not a general, Aro. Your a politician. You give orders and wave your hand and order it done. When was the last time you even fought like a real vampire? You've grown weak, and if you want power back, your going to need to learn to play a new type of chess. . . . and follow my orders to the letter until it's done!"

Aro kept his eyes on Maria as she did the same circling him. Aro in returned start to circle not letting his eyes drift away from Maria. He was tense not sure what to expect from Maria he did not let his guard down. He was use to be protected he never had a need to protect himself. Like normal vampires would if they felt threaten they would act defensively Aro always had his guard if anyone tried anything they would be down quickly. But Aro didn't have his guard he would have to be defensive he couldn't let his guard down now. He didn't like this, he would get his power back. He would not feel like this again.
Aro was not going to do this Maria's way. No one ever order him around! Maria was not going to be the exception not this time, not ever again. Aro didn't really care listening to her past at this moment he was far to angry. He was beyond anger he was furious. His anger and hate for Marcus, the Volturi, what happen to him. His need for revenge for Sulpicia he would kill Marcus if not for his power then for destroying Sulpicia. He loved her he had always wanted power more yes, but he needed Sulpicia. Marcus wanted revenge for his love, but he did he have to take Sulpicia's life, wasn't it enough he took his power? Aro focused on his anger, his hatred and need for revenge on Marcus as Maria kept talking to him.
Aro glared at Maria as she talked to him as if he was under her. He may not have his power, but he would have it very soon. She had no right to talk to him the way she was. A growl escaped his lips as he crouched down ready to attack Maria. Aro was so use to being in control he could hide his emotions he could hide his anger. But now, now he couldn't hide anything his anger, his depression, the hopelessness he was feeling.

Maria didn't pause or falter in her movements. She couldn't adford to let him see any weakness. She knew Aro would have not forgotten his fighting skills but she had to wonder who knew more. He had years more to learn, but most of the years were spent ordering large about of vampires around in order to win a battle. Maria's life while shorter, had been spent in a almost contestant state of war and power struggles.
Her eyes, narrowed in on his neck, even though her vampire sight could see just fine. It was a warning. A silent threat. "My words upset you, I see." She spoke in her sharper voice, but let it grow softer, still keeping a hint of an edge to it. "I meant no true insult here, Aro. Simply stating the facts. At this moment, you need skills, I offer. I only work one way, my way."
"I have spent years learning about you and yours Aro. However do you think I have managed to stay alive? My army, only my latest one, is not 50 miles from us." She watched his face closely for any reaction. "You might win battles, Aro, but I win wars. The defeat the Volturi took aginst the Cullens would not have happened to me."
"I can return you to power, let you smite your foes on the inside. In return, my misbehavior in the past and the ones I intend to keep doing, get over looked. Forever."
"You can refuses. Run away from here, with stories of my misbehavior but I hope you run fast. . . . . . How many lives have you toyed with? How many vampires have you angered, Dearest? Finding you alone," Her eyes trailed over his dress, "Like this. One of them might find you a target to tempting to resits."
Might as well be honest now, "I almost did." Almost killed him. "Trust me, Dearest Aro. It will save us both time, if you just tell me what else your keeping from me."

Even with the warning Maria gave him, Aro did not let his guard down he was still crouched and could attack at any moment. His eyes were narrowed staying on Maria. Of course her words upset him. Yes he needed skills, talents. Something he did not have right away. He was always collecting talents, but now he wasn't, couldn't. He had nothing. And that thought angered him even more. Aro really wasn't all that surprised to find out she had an army. He had always known she had hidden secrets from him and he knew it had been about an army something they forbid anyone from having.
If Maria could help him gain his power back he would gladly overlook everything she had or was planning on doing. If she really wanted to he would never bother her again. Just as long as he had his power. Aro knew Maria was right. There were several vampires he had angered over three thousand years he had destroyed loved ones because they had broken the rules. Mates, creators, friends, any number of vampires. Maria even admitted that she had thought about killing him.
Aro sighed Maria was right. Aro felt even more defeated at realizing she was right. He stood up showing nothing threatening. All he wanted was to gain his power back and if Maria could help him, even if he had to to do it her way he would. He would do almost anything to gain his power back even overlook everything Maria had or planned on doing. Aro had kept his eyes on Maria, but he looked away. His voice soft to soft for humans to hear. "Marcus killed Sulpicia," Aro finally said. His voice was far from calm. It was because of him she was dead. The thought of her once brought happiness, but now it only brought sorrow. Aro quickly stopped thinking about her he couldn't plan or do anything if he was depressed. He would kill Marcus and with that thought his anger quickly came back. He looked at Maria what would she say to that. If anything at all.

Maria had never found a Mate but she knew enough to know how it worked. Once you found them, if you lost them. . . .
It had been a weapon she had used before. Finding the weakness with some vampire's mate and using them to bring downfall to the coven. She had killed mates before, to made the calm and controlled other lose their temper and react.
Her face went soft for his benefit. "It must be hard to lose her." She said, "What did you do to him, Dearest, to make him react so?" She didn't have to jump far (so she assumed) in guessing Aro had done something first in angering Marcus. Aro had a way of pushing people to far.

"You have no idea," Aro replied to Maria his tone harsh. While Sulpicia was not always as important to him as his power he still loved her. He always wanted her and wanted to be with her when he could. He would spend most of his time planning yes, but there were times when he wanted Sulpicia. He loved her deeply she was his mate, wife, love. It was strange not having her knowing she was gone forever. He didn't like it. While before he thought he would give her up for power. Now that she was gone he wasn't so sure he would have been able to. He never had to make the choice between his wife and power. It was something one would have to experience to understand. Maria who had no mate or even loved someone in that way could never understand what he was feeling. It was a pain he never expected to feel. And it was his fault she was gone. It wasn't enough for Marcus to take his power, but he had take Sulpicia's life as well. It angered him more than anything. He never wanted harm to come to her and it had because of him.
Aro thought for a moment. His thoughts were on his sister Didyme. Maybe he could tell Maria some of the story of how this mess had come about. "Didyme my sister," Aro began she was the key part of this story. "Was Marcus' wife." Aro had only changed her in hopes she would have some ability like him. If the ability to make others happy could even be counted as a power. He didn't think it was very useful, but Marcus almost instantly fell in love with her. "Didyme was trouble since the day I changed her," Aro was making it clear he didn't much care for his sister. "She was the one that started planning on leaving the Volturi. She had everything she ever wanted, but all she wanted was Marcus. All Marcus had cared for was Didyme she was everything to him and would do anything to make her happy. Even leaving the Volturi," Aro was still angry about it and now with these recent events it made him even angrier. He had given Didyme this life and how does she return the favor? She decides to leave him and take Marcus with her!
"I had found out that Didyme was convincing Marcus to leave with her," Aro continued. With each word it upset him even more. Aro had never told anyone the entire truth. "I could not have Marcus leave me. I needed him he was apart of the Volturi I would not let him leave. There was only one option to kill Didyme. It was a quick death I didn't let her suffer. It was the only way to keep my power. To make sure Marcus stayed I made Chelsea make him loyal to the Volturi. Even after the death of Didyme Marcus while never the same was important in making decisions. No one ever found out until now."
"Marcus took my power away while that was hard enough," Aro tried to calm down but it wasn't possible at this point. He was angry and upset about everything even himself for what happen to Sulpicia. "Sulpicia had done nothing, never thought of leaving the Volturi. Never done anything against Marcus in anyway. She was close to Didyme she was upset over her death not as much as Marcus but they were both upset. Caius and myself were not. He shouldn't have destroyed her. He . . . " Aro trailed off. Aro was doing no one any good with the mood he was currently in. He probably appeared weak and he felt it.

An eye for an eye, wife for wife. Oh this was a grand story. "I see." She said slowly, planning out her next words with the up most care. "Love is such a weak thing. Look what it dose to our kind. It brought the greats ruler ever, to his knees. Made you weak." She held up her hand to keep him from speaking. "But now. . . . Now you have no weakness. You can rise up thrice as strong and then things you can do to him, to get even. . . . ." Maria let out a low, deep chuckle. "You can make him wish for death."
"Tell me." She said as if not, only half paying him attention. "Would Cauis side with you, or Marcus?" Maria was planning now. She was gathering the smaller details she needed in order to plot something grand and fatal. Hmmm. So much to take in account, how to bring down the greatest army ever, and still keep her name clear for the small chance it fell thought.

[[Wow it's been a while since I've done a post like this. Hope it's okay, and it's longer than I thought it would be.]]
A growl escaped Aro's lips at Maria's words. She held up a hand to prevent him form speaking. It angered him her words. She did not understand. She never loved, never had someone to care for her like Sulpicia did for Aro. Even though Sulpicia was aware that he loved power more than her she stayed with him. She never left his side and loved him with all her heart. It was something he never wanted to lose. Sulpicia had balanced him, but now he was unbalanced. He was lost, confused, and weak.
"Maria my dear," Aro's voice was not calm it held some anger. He attempted to calm himself, but it was useless. "You can never understand exactly what it means to love. It is something that doesn't necessarily make you weak." Aro had never felt weak to love Sulpicia it was only when he lost her did he feel that way. Did that make love weak? No he didn't believe that. "Sulpicia," Aro could feel the sorrow at the sound of her name again. "She balanced me made me stronger, better." Aro knew this was true. He had to make time for her. He would do nothing, but focus on power. No distractions, but would it really be better? For thousands of years he had Sulpicia it was change. Change was so difficult for a vampire. The reason Aro was so crazy at the moment having power and Sulpicia taken away was enough to make anyone crazy.
Aro would indeed make sure Marcus wished for death before he gave it to him. "Marcus," Aro's voice was filled with hate at the thought of him. "He will die painfully I will make sure of that." Aro now imagined what that would be like. To have him destroyed. To make him pay for taking his power away. For killing Sulpicia who had never wanted to go against the Volturi. Didyme had. She had to be destroyed clearly Marcus did not understand. She was betraying Aro by leaving and taking Marcus. Taking his power away. This was something he could not allow and did not.
"Caius," Aro's voice was much calmer thinking of Caius. "I'm unsure," Aro frowned clearly unsure of what his brother had been thinking. "Clearly he did not care to much he allowed Marcus to kick me out!" Aro was once again angry an emotion that seemed to stay with him. "If he was loyal who would have never allowed Marcus to take control he would have done something. There were certain times when Caius was opposed to my ideas. We did not get along all the time. It is clear he will remain loyal to Marcus rather than me." Aro was certain about this.

"Then they both must go!" Maria said as she watched him. She ignored his overly sappy comments of love and being stronger, blah blah blah. It was weakness to believe that something so human as emotion would make you stronger. While Maria thought her emotions made her enjoy things more they did not make her stronger. Her mind did that, Logic power, and brains. That was, what made a her a general and not a minion. That was why, when Aro was at his lowest, he was doing as she told him. Aro the mighty would not have told Maria this. But not look at the mighty leader now. "Unless you rather not rule alone?" She teased, knowing he would love the power of being the highest of the high.

Aro looked at Maria as she told him both must go. Both Caius and Marcus gone? This was difficult idea to consider even now after everything that had happen. After both had thrown him out and Caius not doing at thing! It angered him made him want to get even. But to not have either of his brothers as he had once called them. They had been together for three thousand years. It was such a change imagining both of the gone. Aro kept quiet as he thought everything through. Could he have both of them destroyed. Marcus he was certain, but what about Caius. If he was to see Aro destroy Marcus would he become loyal? Stay with the strongest, more powerful leader? Or would he try to find ways to remain in control. So much to think about. And so much to anger him.
Aro glanced directly at Maria at her last statement. To rule alone to have no one else. To have what he said be done and no reason to discuss with his brothers. Aro smiled a bit more at the thought. Having everything done his way having no one disagree with him. Having complete control over the guard. But what about the guard that had thrown him out he knew all of them. He would destroy them. Read each mind and see who was loyal to Aro and only Aro. "I'll have to be careful," Aro started. "Starting with the guard. Only those who are loyal to only me can remain the others will be destroyed. I'll have to select new talents, new vampires. I'll be in complete control. If there is any hesitation in my orders there will be consequences."
Aro was feeling a bit like he was when in power. Planning and thinking of talents he wanted. But the task of how to gain his power. How to attack the Volturi. Thoughts of breaking the rules to drag them out came to mind, but could he? He was uncertain. It was something he would never tolerate, but to gain his power it would be worth it. Would it not? His thoughts seemed to be running in circles. Weighing the pros and the cons against each other he did not know how to gain his power back. Something that bothered him. Something he would figure out.

Maria was a general, in many ways. She knew when to bluff, when to fold, when move with speed and when to strike. How to over take the largest armies with the a smaller one. She planned. She plotted. She learned. While officially, she had no true gift the way Aro, Jasper (grrr), or others had. Yet, she had a talent in a way. She good at something, and while others were good at it too, Maria was simply better then most.
Maria slowly turned to face away from Aro while she thought. He too was deep in thought. Hmmmm, was it time to revile things that he was not ready to see before? Time to expose how much help she could be. He could well turn on her, but Maria knew he would hear at lest this thought . . . wait.
Maria walked slowly over to Aro, "Aro Dearest." She paused until he she had complete attention, and then waited another three full human seconds before thinking the thought she held back a moment ago, and reaching for his hand.
She knew he would see everything. Every thought. Every time she slept with many member of his guard, every time she bit a human with the goal of building a stronger army, every detail she put into training them, making them stronger, making them love her. . . . Making them WANT to die for her.
Everything thought of damn Aro for his threats, her fears of the Volturi . . . . Her goals, her plans to bring them down. Her alliance (thought now broken) with Jasper Whitlock (Hale / Cullen) and how she offered to make his family safe if he helped her bring down the Volturi. Every weakness she found in Aro's army, and the drity ways she learned them (Both in bed and by watching his army fight and win and then lose against the Cullens).
How she would do bring them down, were she would strike. How when she found out Aro had been cast out, she wondered if she could be in power but also did not want to spend her life fighting to keep it.
She knew he would see every time she smiled brightly and said flattering words and thought about killing him. Her thoughts more recent of him being weak and crazy. Her thought of moments ago, of this would be the time to kill him! How she saw his love of anyone weak!
However, she knew as well he would see her honestly in only wanting her town, and the few around it and no more. Of how, she envied and slightly respected the power he gained. How she wanted him in power, so she could be safe. Her honesty in promising not to draw attention to her self. Her honesty in agreeing to help him just now.
How her talent could aid them both, if he but trust her, and they helped each other. . . .
How they both loved about the same thing, Aro just wanted it on larger scale then Maria cared for.
The thought that she had saved for last? The last words she wanted in Aro's mind? They were simple. They were brash and the point.
Her sins might be enough to damn her to death by the Volturi, but her sins were now the very assets Aro could use to make this swift, final and show everyone, once and for all that it was not the Volturi as a coven you should fear, but Aro of the Volturi. They had been playing chess, in a way. Aro and Maria moving around each other, not quite fighting for power of the board but a dangerous game none the less. Now it was time for them to play on the same time, and play for keeps. . . .
Pulling her hand slowly away, Maria have him a confidant half smile, yet with the way her shoulders held, and her knees were bent it was slightly easy to see she was also braced for a more dramatic (or deadly) response from him. "Suddenly my reputation has just grown allot bolder, no? Perhaps we should discuses plans of action?" She waited for his response and reaction.
