The first one is always last; that's what he mother had always said. Embry didn't think it made any sense, until now. He remembered the good old days, before the whole 'you're a werewolf' thing, when he would waste his time with Quil and Jacob. Those were the days, alright. Not that they didn't hang out anymore, they did, it just wasn't the same as before, but it wasn't worse. It was hard to be the first of the three to go through the life changing experience of becoming a shape-shifter. Hard to keep away from his worried friends and stay with a pack of people he thought were jerks before. But now that both Quil and Jacob were in the pack, things were easier and more fun.
His mother's old saying made sense to Embry, now that Jacob and Quil had imprinted. Embry still had not, he was to be last. He now was of age to go to College, or University, but like the others, he didn't -- Emb didn't want to anyways. Jacob and Quil were scarce around anymore, always with their imprintees. Jacob was even considering leaving with the Cullens. Jared was a bore these days, but Seth was always up for a good wrestle. So it wasn't so bad.
Embry walked the streets of Forks, he had gone to see Jacob before he officially left with his vampire family for a few years. Sure, Jake said he would visit, but Em would still miss his pal. Things were changing, and Embry was being left behind as his friends had their entire lives ahead of them.

With a grunt, Charlotte collapsed into her chair. She was not used to living alone, yet alone living in Washington. She missed the warm Texas air, being able to wear shorts in the winter. Practically all of her clothes she owned were either not good in Washington, or could rarely be worn in the summer. A small frown played at her lips as she thought about it. She closed her dark brown eyes for a moment, imaging that she was back in Texas. She could practically feel the warm summer rays on her skin, the faint smell of pollution tainting the air.
This time sighing, Lotte fluttered open her eyes. She decided to do sight seeing. Too bad there isn't a town square near by. In Texas we could just drive over to Southlake. She sighed at the thought. Despite the fact that it was summer, her shirt was still long sleeved. She grabbed her keys and her phones, and shoved them in her pocket. She released her hair from the pony tail it had been in, letting it's cascade down to her back. She chuckled softly to herself, thinking how hot she would be right now if she were back home, where she belonged. She shook her head gently, pushing the thoughts away.
Charlotte escaped into the 'warm' air, though she shivered. "Feels more like winter." She whispered softly to herself. She walked slowly, still a little bummed about being in Washington. Her cell signal wasn't as strong as it had been in Texas, which made it much slower for texting and talking on her cell. She sighed softly, looking at her feet as she walked. She decided to study her shoes, just to give her mind something to do. She did not feel like getting sad at the moment, and studied the swirling designs. She didn't watch where she was walking.

Embry could hardly feel the chill of the wind on his exposed chest, arms and face. It took a little more than wind for him to feel cold. He shoved his hands in his pants' pockets, quickly looking up at the sky. Thick, gray clouds as usual. He looked back ahead, looking at where he was going so he did not run into a car or a tree. Then, he saw her. A beautiful dirty-blonde girl. Embry stopped walking, eyes widening as the world seemed to stop around him.
The experience was like on of those cheesy movies were a boy fell inlove with a girl and saw nothing but her with wind through her hair and a spotlight above. The only difference was that Embry felt the world drop under his feet -- or imagined so -- and surprisingly stayed standing. It took him a while to realize she was walking in his direction without looking -- took him too long. By the time he noticed, she had walked right into his chest. He caught her with one arm before she fell from the impact and stayed at awe now that he had a clear look at her face. Emb helped her stand up right, but didn't remove his arm, unable to think strait. "...Are you ok?" He summer up the courage to talk to her.

"Oof!" Charlotte explained as she came in compact with a boy nearly a foot taller than her. She stumbled backwards, but a warm hand caught her by the arm. She could already feel her cheeks warming, despite the cool weather, with pure embarrassment. She did not get embarrassed by many things, and this one, unfortunately for her, was one of those things. "I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed softly, letting some of her hair fall in her face as if to hide it. She could feel his warm hand still gripping her arm, despite the fact she was standing now.
Finally looking up from her hair, Lottie all but gasped. This guy was seriously tan, tanner than her, the Texan. She wondered how that could even be possible living in the North. Unless he too had moved down here. She continued to examine him a little, and her dark eyes hesitated on his muscles. They were, well, huge! He looked like he could be on steroids almost, or had a seriously good workout habit. Wow. That was all she could truly think. She looked up at his face, and saw that he looked probably five or so years older than her.
When Charlotte met his eyes, she noticed some thing she did not recognize. Her delicate eyebrows furrowed for a moment, before relaxing themselves again. His hair was cropped quite short, and she knew it was darker than hers when she did not dye it and let it grow back out brow. "Umm, hi." She thought about saying her name and how she was new since she was going to college, but decided against it. She smiled sheepishly to him, showing her perfectly straight teeth from years of braces and one oral surgery. It paid off in the end, which she was grateful for.

Her voice was musical, it brought a smile to his face. "Oh." He realized he still had is arm around her from when he caught her, he took it back, knowing it would be awkward for her. But he wanted to keep it there. Her cool skin felt good. It took him an other moment to realize what she was saying. "Hi." Emb greater back putting his hands in his pockets again.
Embry knew he was staring at her in a very particularly weird way; hopefully it would not creep her out. But he couldn't stop it. "Um... you aren't hurt, are you?" He was honestly concerned.

'Hi.' Charlotte kept back a chuckle at his small reaction. There was something about this guy, but she just couldn't put words to it. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't. She pursued her lips for a moment in thought, but replaced it with a kind smile. 'Um... you aren't hurt, are you?' She could hear the genuine concern in his voice, and tried not to make to much of a big deal of it in his head. He seemed like he was lost for words, and a little awkward around her.
That made her curious. "I'm Charlotte. I'm new to town." She introduced herself, placing her hand out to shake his. The words felt odd to her tongue. Whenever those two words had come up in a sentence before for her, the 'I'm' was always 'you're.' Plus, it was always a question for the other person. She tried not to make too much of a big deal about it, and her expression works with her. Her thoughts did not, much to her disappointment.

Embry was more than happy to take her hand, even if it was just to shake it. Her hand was colder, and a little smaller. He didn't want to let go. "I'm Embry." He introduced himself after her.
Charlotte. Charlotte. It was a name as perfect as she was. He fully realized, now, than this was what happened when you imprinted; the feeling of nothingness under you as the sole person you see seems to keep you from falling into the bottomless pit bellow. He had seen how it worked in the other's minds, he just couldn't believe he finally had imprinted. "New to Forks?" Did she live all the way in Forks? It would be easier to see her and run into her -- not literally -- if she lived in La Push.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Charlotte took note of how much warmer, and bigger, his hand was than hers. She wasn't that small, or at least she didn't think she was. Five foot three inches seemed pretty close to average, if it was slightly under. The doctor had once guessed her height, and said she would have been two inches smaller. She was extremely glad he had been wrong, as she didn't want to be too small.
"I'm Embry," that was an interesting name. Charlotte had come across many strange names before, but never this one. It was unique, and he seemed unique to. "New to Forks?" She nodded. "Yeah, I moved up here from Texas." She explained quickly. She would definitely miss Texas, and she knew that was one thing for sure. It was always hot in Texas, and to her the summer's up here felt more like winter. She knew it'd take a little time to adjust.

"Texas, cool." Embry felt like an idiot afterwords. What was with him? Did imprinting really do this to you? He thought about it for a minute; Quil would get dressed up in dresses and tiaras for Claire. Emb guessed that answered his question. Poor Quil, Embry felt lucky his was at least his age.
"Have you had a chance to go to La Push?" He was curious. If she said no -- or even yes -- he'd show her around the reservation a little. Perhaps she'd like the beaches the most, it was as close as it got to anything in Texas, he figured.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'Texas, cool.' Charlotte smiled slightly, but kept her lips pressed together. He seemed like a rather awkward guy, shy perhaps? That didn't seem like the case, really, but it was always possible. Heck, she had been shy when she was younger. That side of her was completely gone by now, but doesn't everyone have their shy moments?
'Have you had a chance to go to La Push?' La Push...La Push...oh, La Push! Lottie shook her head, "Not yet." That was true, she hadn't even thought about it until he brought it up. She was aware it had beaches, which brought up some pretty interesting memories. Which made her want to strangle, not literally, her friends back in Texas.

Embry smiled; so she hadn't been to La Psh yet. That gave him a chance. "Well... if you want, I can show you around. If you're not busy right now..." He half rambler near the end while he rubber the back of his neck, nervous. "It's a really cool place, when you know what to do and where to go." Why was he still talking? Stop rambling like an idiot! He yelled at himself internally.
Emb hoped she said yes with ever fiber of his being. It would pain him to see her leave so soon, before they even got a chance to get to know each other better. And before he got the chance to ask her out. If she left, Em wasn't sure when he would ever see her again. He barely went into Forks, quite content with staying in La Push. But if he got to see Charlotte, he would go to Florida, Nunavut, Chile, New Delhi or even Australia. She was like a drug to him now. And he accepted it.

She could tell from his face that he was embarrassed. Why, she was not sure at all. Had he been dared by a friend or something? She didn't honestly think so, unless La Push was very unwelcoming to new people.
'It's a really cool place, when you know what to do and where to go.' Charlotte nodded. "Okay. Sounds fun. I'm not doing anything, at least until college starts up." She said, with a light sigh. College was not going to be fun, that she was confident in.

When she agreed to let him show her around La Push, his face light up with a smile, his white teeth contrasted with his dark skin but it seemed like it should be that way. "Great," Embry didn't sound as eggar as he truely was, which was good for he did not wish to freighten Charlotte. He did love her, entirely, already. Unconditionnally and irreversably.
"La Push is this way," Emb added, pointing in the direction she had come from and to which he was headed. As they walked, something she said intreeged him. "So you're going to college? In Seattle, right?" There was no college in Forks, that was for sure. "First year?" He guessed. He tried to make all this questions sound like random small talk, whislt he was truely curious.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'Great. La Push is this way.' It was always nice - in her opinion - to learn about your new 'home' with a tour guide. Being her, and unable to read a map without getting lost at some point, she'd get totally lost and have to ask someone for directions. But even then she'd probably get lost, and have to wait until it was day again to try to find her way back 'home'. Never the funnest thing to do.
'So you're going to college? In Seattle, right? First year?' Charlotte gave a nod, a frown threatening to come across her face as it tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Yes, unfortunately. Honestly I'm dreading it, as by a month into it I'm going to resort to sweats and reading glasses." It was probably true. Her vision wasn't perfect, but she usually wore contacts. But still, by then her sociail life was practically gone with all the adjustments she'd have to make.
