Carmen is a very compassionate soul. Leads a very peaceful life style. She is very loyal, kind, outgoing and friendly. She tough, though, and adventurous. Brave, protective, strong and a fighter.
She is passionate, loving, caring, but not very emotional, she did not cry much as a human and barely ever sobs as a vampire. But Carmen has a vicious side, when she's pushed too far, she's very dangerous. Over all, she is always ready for anything.
Carmen is, of course, in love with her mate: Eleazar. They do not express their love very publicly much but it is very clear they are mates. Though both are wild for one and other, and completely inseparable.

In a tiny villa in the heart of Spain, Carmen was born and grew up, raised only by her mother. Her father abandoning her mother, her two older brothers and her after she was three years old. Her two elder brothers were ten and thriteen years of age difference from her, and there for she was not very close to them. Her mother was her best friend.
In the eighth century, the Iberian Peninsula was conquered by Musslim armies from North Africa. Only a few cities in the north of the Peninsula managed to resist this invasion, but, unfortunatly, Carmen's city did not. Christians and Jews were imposed discriminations and penalties by the Musslims, lead by Islam. The penalties could be minor, or very grave. Carmen's family, being Christian, under went those discriminations, but eventually, one of her brothers cracked and spat back at the army officials. The family was brutally separated, her brother killed at the scene.
Held captive in a reform camp for many years, Carmen reached the age of 21, and was to turn 22 in two months and a half. But never got the chance to; she was transformed into a vampire. She never saw it coming, the vampire appeared as if out of thin air and started attacking everyone in the reform camp. Lots of people died and were later drained, but Carmen was lucky enough to live -- but live a new, strange life she knew nothing about.
Years passed by and eventually she met the Volturi. She had fed on a little too many villagers in a small place somewhere in Switzerland. That's when she met Eleazar. It was instant, love at first sight, for her. She felt very attracted to him. Luckly, he did as well and convinced Aro to spare her. She did get a warning, though.
Eleazar left the Volturi then, and met up with Carmen in Switzerland. As it turned out, Carmen and Eleazar both came from Spain. Eventually, they found the Denali Coven and decided they liked their style of life better. They have been together ever since. If Carmen and Eleazar had not found Tanya's family they would have eventually found some other way to forgo human blood.
