Alice found it was nice of the Volturi to invite her and her family to their Ball, even after everything that had happened. That was Aro's manners, obviously; the leader was quite kind, once you got past all the evil and power-hungry aspect of him. This Ball seemed to be a hit, probably every vampire on Earth was present at the event; everyone from nomads to covens, long time vampires to newborns, was there. All the lovely dresses and suits, some more exotic than others whom had a more classical look. It was marvelous, really. Every vampire put aside their difference for this great occasion.
Alice wore something more on the classical, yet up to date, instead of exotic and original -- like the women from the Amanzonian Coven. Her evergreen off the shoulder, sleeveless dress was silky, very slim, waving down at the end and floor length. She wore a golden chain with a circular locket at the end of it and her hair was at it's usual spiky halo with a golden head band. It didn't stand out the most with the array of gowns in the room, but it was still beautiful and fit her nicely.
Some of the other guests were dancing to the flowy music as others mingled and such. Alice wasn't dancing at the moment, she was standing farther aside the dance floor along side Jasper. The rest of the Cullens were around, somewhere, in the room, but not with the two. Dancing, catching up, etc.

Jasper had entered with Alice to this magnificent event. It was perhaps not the most comfortable situation, given the Cullens history with the Volturi, but it seemed that today . . . it was not about the personal issues that one coven had with another. It was about a glamorous event that was sure to be the talk of the vampire world for the next few decades. Jasper looked around at the crowd, recognizing some and seeing many new, unfamiliar faces. Either way, every single person here was a vampire . . . and that made Jasper extremely comfortable.
Though he could not quite lower his guard as much as he liked . . . there were some people here that he would rather not see. No matter. He would avoid her as much as he could. After all, there were so many other vampires here . . . surely he could avoid just one. Upon seeing a majority of the couples dancing, he turned to Alice and offered his hand. "Would you like to dance?" He asked, knowing how much she liked it and an occasion like this would be a perfect opportunity to express ones love for dancing.

Now and then, Alice caught glimpses of someone she knew, and smiled at them. Was every vampire in the world actually here? Who knew. She looked up at Jasper when he spoke and gave him a smile when he asked her to dance. "I would love to." She took his hand. She enjoyed how much more relaxed Jasper was now, though she knew his guard was not down, it was still better than having him being cautious of humans and not acting like himself. (sorry it's short)

Knowing she would not reject the opportunity, they made their way to a clear spot on the dancing ground. There were so many people covering the floor, but every couple was equally graceful. Had vampires not possessed that grace and poise about them, especially in their movement, the entire room would be a complete mess. He took one hand in hers and placed the other on her lower back as he began to step along to the music. It was effortless really. He did not have to look at his feet, or count the steps and beat . . . he could focus his entire attention on the woman that stood before him.
"Did I tell you how beautiful you look?" He must have told her when he first saw her dressed in such an elegant attire. It never hurt to repeat his words though. Of course, to him, she looked beautiful every day but on occasions that called for a more fancy wardrobe, he knew compliments were more necessary.

Alice followed as Jasper lead her to the dance floor. She placed her hand on his shoulder as he placed his hand on her lower back and held up her small hand in his other. The two danced along to the music, as did the other dancing vampires around them, very effortlessly and easily. When her husband complemented her, she gave a colourless blushing smile. "Perhaps," She joked. "Thank you." No matter how many times Jasper said it, Alice couldn't get tired of it -- each time was like the first.
"Did I tell you how handsome and dashing you look?" She returned. Of course, she always found he was handsome and dashing, but he looked really good in formal wear.

Jasper loved seeing her smile in the shy modest way that she did. It would only encourage him to further compliment her. It was something he often did, but more so when they were alone, or not in the attention of anyone else. It was how their relationship differed from Rosalie and Emmett's, and even Bella and Edward's. Both couples were less hesitant in public displays of affection, but Jasper and Alice's relationship was not like that. They displayed signs to show they were a couple . . . but nothing to physically express it other than holding hands or putting their arms around each other.
Following her compliment to him, he smiled and let out a small chuckle. "Why thank you. However, no one here pales in comparison to you," he added, while continuing to sway to the stead beat of the music.

Jasper was one to complement Alice quite a bit when they were alone or felt like there wasn't anyone else in the world but them in a room full of people. She didn't mind it though, she was used to it and was never annoyed by it. She took the hand she had on his shoulder and stroked the side of his face, and then palced her hand at the base of his neck as she smiled a silent thank you. She really loved him.
They danced a still equal rythme for a moment, quite as they focused on each other. A very peaceful moment. This ball seemed to be a great succes.
(sorry it's not so good!)

He smiled, as he pulled her closer to him, still moving rhymatically to the music that filled the ballroom. "How are you finding the event? Were you able to catch up with many of your friends?" The Cullens had a rather good reputation here -- except with the Volturi -- . But most others who knew them, had no qualms with them. And Alice tended to get along with everyone.
With that said, he was extremely concerned about her. Aro wanted her on his side, and he knew that. It worried him that she was in such close proximity with someone like that. If he could, he would keep as close an eye on her as possible.

Alice felt Jasper arm tighten around her, pulling her closer to him, their steps didn't break rythme as he did so. "I was able to catch up with a lot of old friends; Zafrina, Tia and Benjamin, Carmen and the other Denali..." She explained briefly. "But I'm having more fun with you." She told him the truth. There was no better thing in the world for Alice other than being with Jasper.

"That sounds lovely," he said as she expressed that she was able to catch up with old friends. It was difficult to see most of them, so when social events open to all vampires occurred . . . everyone was rushing to meet with those they had not seen in a while. The only old friend he met with -- so far -- was Maria, and that was not pleasant. Civil, for once yes, but not pleasant. He smiled at her last comment. "The feeling is mutual. I could not imagine spending the majority of my time at this ball, with anyone else, but you."

Alice nodded at Jasper's remark. "Everyone seems to be doing very well. I was glad to hear it." Bad news was something that Alice didn't enjoy, it brought her down -- made her feel sad and depressed sometimes. And then, Jasper would try to fix it because be hated seeing her upset or sad. She felt the same way about him.
She smiled when he agreed, saying the feeling was mutual. Alice looked over him once and looked back up at him, eyes meeting. "You truely do look good in a suit, Jasper. It suits you very well." She complemented him again. The formal appeal was a good look on Jasper, though it wouldn't be something for everyday, it would be rediculous. He looked handsome all the time to Alice, just really dashing in a tux.

"It is also nice to see everyone enjoying themselves, even though there may be animosity between certain vampires, that everyone is being civil at such a wonderful event."
He smiled, embarrassed by the compliment and would not have enjoyed it from anyone else, more than from his own wife. "Thank you Alice. If I could express in mere words your beauty, then I would never cease talking. But words are not sufficient." While their relationship was not displayed publicly, that did not mean he would stop complimenting her, or even innocently flirt with her.

She gave a nod; this Ball was making everyone quite joyus. Everyone was enjoying it, even Emmett, suprisingly. Alice smiled widely when Jasper gave an embaressed smile. She had really meant her compliment. But now she felt a little embaressed, and though she tried to hide it a little, Jazz always could feel it. What she did next, she didn't care if anyone saw. She reached up as much as she could and gave him a small peck on his chin -- she couldn't reach much higher -- before falling back on her feet properly, smiling at him. And in all that, their dancing wasn't interupted. "Stop it." She said in a low voice -- almost a whisper.

Her unexpected intimate embrace made his grin broaden, enjoying the comfortable environment and the fact that she was making it even better. He softly chuckled as she told him to stop, finding it very cute that she was so shy when it came to compliments. "I can not help it," he told her honestly. "You allow it to come out far too naturally. For once, it is not something I must think about before saying aloud."

Jasper didn't stop, which made Alice feel even more embaressed. "Jasper..." She said sheepishly. Were she still human, her cheek would probably be scarlett red.

He laughed at her shyness, and only felt encouraged by her modesty. "Alright, I shall stop." He never wanted to make her feel uncomfortable, and while he did not sense any discomfort from her, he did not want to go against her wishes either. He kissed her hand as it was held in his, and resumed their previous position, proper for dancing.

She didn't hate it when he complimented her, it was something he did. Sometimes she complimented him a lot too, like earlier. "Well... you don't have to." She giggled playfully -- being silly -- with a wide grin. The grin didn't fade when he kissed her hand, but it became a more appropreate smile.

"I will do whatever you wish," he said smiling, cooperating with what she preferred -- as he so often did -- . "So, have you spoken to anyone else tonight?" He mainly wanted to know if she had spoken to anyone from the Volturi . . . if they had bothered her in any way. Her gift was one that they wanted, and he did not like the fact that there were so many of them here. Who knows what they were planning, or if they had another reason for inviting her to this ball.

Jasper always did what Alice wished, it seemed rare that he ever did anything he wanted to do around her; it did make her feel a little guilty. The music softly played on as all the vampires on the dance floor swayed gracefully on in a syncronized way. It wasn't like any Gala or Prom or dance you would find in the human world. This music was very calm, classical and soothing, humans would have up to date music, some slow, yes, but after a while it would be fast beats and rocking out.
"I spoke to the Denali, the Amazonians, the Irish coven. The African coven... Emmett, Bella, Rose..." She started listing. "See that Aro's going to speak with Edward at some point tonight, and me, of course." She lightly rolled her eyes. Aro's attempts at converting her were always useless but still he perseveered, always asking the same question. He just got the same answer each time. "I'm not too worried about that, though." She shrugged. Though Aro was in his element -- is domain -- and he had power over everything and power to do everything, Aro was smart enough not to create a scene and force people to join him.
Alice observed Jasper's expression, wondering how he would react to her vision.

Jasper was growing tiresome of Aro's constant attempts. Of course he could not prohibit the leader from talking to her, but he could most certainly be there when he did. "Is that all Aro is going to do, simply speak with both you and Edward?" He did not plan to keep them here longer than necessary, did he? He would not put it beneath him . . . that was the one thing that was preventing Jasper from being completely, and totally relaxed. While he could be at ease, he was still massively concerned about Aro's plans . . . or if he had one. While Alice was not too worried about it, he was.

With a nod, she started to go into smaller details. "Most likely not together, at the same time. But he is going to speak to us." Alice sighed, Aro's conversations were always falsly friendly on both sides and he always requested that she would join his guard. Never. She always refused. Why would she join? To be used? Just be an other power in his collection? Aro didn't want the people in his guard, really, he really just wanted the powers -- the numbers were just a given that made him feel even more powerful. It was a horrible thing over all. And if she joined, Alice doubted that she could be with Jasper. If they could, it wouldn't be the same. There is no freedum in the Volturi -- though Aro will claim otherwise -- Volterra was like a prison -- especially to the wives, whom never left the tower.
Alice tilted her head a little to the left, still looking up at Jasper. "I am not afraid, though. He can not force me without causing a scene -- I swear I will cause one if he tries to force me -- and that would not look very good here." She grinned at her husband.

Whether she was afraid or not, he would forever remain concerned. "Please be careful Alice. I know you are not worried, but I do not trust him in the least bit." After everything that had happened . . . and all the tension between their covens . . . and the past history that Jasper had with Aro when he was with Maria . . . he just did not have a good feeling about this. "He is not going to give up so easily to convince you to join. He is very determined. And I would hate to think that he would use more . . . persuasive methods to convince you." Jasper knew that the Volturi leader was capable of quite a bit, and that was what worried him. Jasper did smile when she said she will cause a scene if need be. He kissed the top of her ahead and pulled her closer to him. "I do not doubt that you will fight to remain out of his coven. I just do not want to even imagine the thought of any harm ever coming to you."

"I wouldn't trust that man, ever." Reassurance, Alice had to elaborate a little more. Her hand followed up his neck and up to the side of his face. "I am worried, Jazz. But, I do not see anything bad coming. And if he even considers doing something that would endanger me, or our family, or you, I'll see it." She whispered in an evne tone that had a laced courant of fear, sureness and promise to it. Aro couldn't get her when and if she saw it coming first.
Alice's hand fell gracefully and lightly back onto Jasper's shoulder. She looked down. "I know. Believe me, I know." She muttered dreadfully. "But I will never become one of his dark cloaked pawns."
She grinned when his lips touched the top of her head and he held her closer. She looked back up at him, her eyes once again locking with his and her grin faded. "As long as I have you, I can not feel pain." He made her too happy. She forgot about the world around her sometimes whenshe she with her husband. But an other reason she knew she wouldn't feel any pain when he was around was that he was very protective.

That was true. She would see it. "It it his unpredictable actions that worry me as well." He knows about Alice's gift, he may try to find a way to ensure she does not see what he is planning. He would not put that beneath Aro; Jasper certainly was not one to underestimate him. "I fear that somehow . . . his last minute decisions will escape your visions." And those last minute choices, could be severely important.
While Jasper was relieved to hear Alice would never willingly join them . . . he still worried about how far Aro was going to go. "Good. I do not think I could stand to see him utilize you simply for your power." Jasper would never just sit by and watch that happen. He would die trying to protect her from Aro's coven.
His concerned expression began to ease in to a smile. She always knew ways to lighten the mood, and every time he was very grateful. "I feel the same way." At this point, his arms were wrapped around her, and they continued to sway to the rhythm of the music playing in the hall. "I just wish he could accept no as an answer, and let the subject go." It was not in Aro's nature to let something go . . . Jasper knew this.

Jasper's concerns were very apropriate and Alice considered them all carefully. What if Aro was took quick for her and her visions? If he tried to do anything, that is. How fast would she react? How long would it take her to actually snap out if the warning vision before it happened? These things started to worry her more. She stared clearly into her husband's timeless topaz eyes with her own. "Will you be there with me when he does talk to me? I would feel a lot better about it than I would have earlier." She asked and admitted. Alice knew she was going to need him there even if Aro didn't try anything.
The tiny vampire grinned at the way her mate said 'good' and listened to the rest of his words before she placed her hand on his cheek once more. "I would not be able to stand being utilized for my visions and I could never stand to be a member of his guard. So please promise me that if I, for whatever reaon, become a member of his guard, you would get me out." She knew that if she was ever on the Guard, something would be wrong and she wouldn't of have joined on her own will. "I would get you without a second thought about it." She promised him.
By this time, the hand he had used to hold hers was around her back like the other arm. Her hand went to his arm at first but then to the front of his shoulder like the other. She would of wrapped her arms around the back of his neck, but unfortunatly, she couldn't reach. "So do I, believe me." She sighted.

Jasper did not need to think about the answer to her question for a second. "I will be. Even if I am not by your side when he first approaches you, he will not be able to talk to you for alone for long." Even if Jasper was on the other side of the room, he would keep an eye on both Alice and Aro and if the vampire decided to attempt another conversation to persuade her, Jasper would be there in an instant. "I will not allow him to pester you with his constant attempts to recruit you." The best thing would be to keep Alice by his side all night . . . but that was already an impossibility for the evening.
"I swear to you Alice, for as long as I am alive, I will not let him take you away from me." Being part of his coven not only meant being used for her ability, it also meant being apart from her family . . . from him. Unless it was something Alice genuinely wanted, he would not let Aro force her to join him. Jasper would die trying to protect her from him. "He will not lay one finger on you," he said, his tone was more stern and his expression was serious, with a subtle hint of anger in it. His gaze was averted to Aro, as he stared at him . . . the anger slowly building inside of him for constantly harassing Alice and even thinking for a second she would fall victim to his ploys. "No matter what high level of authority he believes he has, he will have no control over you," he added, keeping his eyes on the Volturi leader, knowing that he would have to calm down before Aro took notice of his glaring.

Alice knew Jasper was determinded and there was no way his mind would change because of how quickly he replied. It was very comforting to know he would be there to support her and, if anything were to happen, help and protect her. She grinned thankfully at her husband. "Thank you," Her worries were eased by the thought of having him there with her.
Alice felt very greatful and happy when he swore to her he'd never let the Volturi take her. "I would never let anyone take you away from me, either." Her voice was soft, yet serious. She listened to him talk. She could hear and feel Jasper get more and more angry; his voice was very stern now. His eyes glared off behind her and she followed his gaze until she saw he was looking at Aro. She looked back up at Jazz and touched his cheek lightly with her fingers. "Jazz." Her kind voice lingered a little with concern; he was getting worked up. She could see it now, not in a vision, but still mentally; Jasper dashing off at any moment to confront Aro and the Volturi before the leader even thought of going and starting to talk with Alice. But he was pretty wrapped up in something and didn't respond. "Jasper." Her voice was was a little harder as she tried to snap him out of it. If Alice didn't, he would probably get angry -- angrier.

Though Jasper could hear Alice's voice, he had not quite snapped out of the trance that was forcing him to stare at Aro. By the second time she said his name however, he realized that he was focusing on him far too much at this moment. He should be concentrating on his beautiful wife, and the moment they were in. Yet still, he could not erase Aro from his mind, for it was Jasper's concern that was going to make him slightly paranoid this evening. "Sorry," he said, a little embarrassed as he looked back at Alice.
He gave a small smile, his thoughts still consumed with what Aro could be planning, and how that would affect Alice. "I do not trust him Alice. Surely he did not invite us to this ball from the kindness of his heart." Aro was still angry over what had happened between the Cullens and the Volturi . . . was there more to this invitation than merely being included because the rest of the vampire world was? Jasper was not sure . . . and it would be a risk to assume that latter.

It was beginning to get very noticible, the way Jasper was staring at Aro. But Alce was releaved when he snapped out of the stare and looked back down at her. "It's fine. But I do not want you to be constantly looking over your shoulder to watch him and make sure Aro isn't around." Her voice was pleeding, and a little demanding. Her hand went back to it's prior place on his shoulder. "Please, just relax. Have some fun and forget he's here for a while." Jasper was going to get paranoid, and it wasn't going to be a very pleasant evening if he did.
"I don't trust him either, but you are making it very obvious with your staring." Alice admitted in a whisper that was soft, not harsh in the slightest.

While Jasper wished he could just relax and let the uneasy feelings disappear, it was much easier said than done. "As I said Alice, I do not trust him. It is difficult to fully relax around people you do not trust," he said in a low voice, so that no one apart from Alice would be able to hear him. Though Jasper did not turn his gaze back to him, he was certainly thinking about it.
"Good. I want him to know that he can not constantly ask you to join him. I want him to be aware of the fact that the answer to his question was no, and once was enough." Jasper did not care if Aro saw him . . . he did not want to create a scene though, and that was the only thing preventing Jasper from confronting Aro himself. Jasper did comply to Alice's wishes though; he would not do anything she did not want him to do, and so he gave a small smile. "I am having quite a bit of fun, I am just ensuring the protection of my wife too," he said, this time his expression softening.
