✿✿✿ Annabelle had been hiking. Yes, hiking. It was late afternoon on Thursday and yes, it seemed like it would rain any second now. And by rain she meant storm. So, really, it made absolutely no sense for her to be hiking, or getting herself lost would be a more accurate description, near so many trees that could possibly be struck by lightning. But, she had to get out and do something. She couldn’t just sit around in her apartment building and do absolutely nothing but wait until she could drag herself out of bed the next morning to go to school. She almost groaned at the thought of doing that for another night. The fourth one in a row.
Grabbing a tree branch to make sure she didn’t trip and fall on the slippery rocks, Anna hoisted herself up higher. Which also was a stupid plan, climbing a hill with loads of trees on it right before a thunder storm, brilliant. She considered going back home, but decided against it. She went that far, why wouldn’t she go the rest of the way? Why wouldn’t she just finish hiking her way up to the top of the hill when she was almost to the top? So, that was why, being so desperate to do something, she continued her climb to the top. And that was when she saw it. A dead deer. With a small crescent shape piercing it’s snapped neck.
Fear flooded through her, draining her face of all color. What could have possibly done that to that poor, defenseless animal? And was it still close by? She turned on her heel, fairly sure she didn’t want to get to the top of the hill, since the further up she got, the more dead deer she could see, and she ran down the mountain as fast as she could without falling. And even when she tried not to fall, she ended up having to stick her hand out to prevent herself from running into the tree. By the time she untangled her clothes and herself from the tree, she had just enough time to realize one thing. She wasn’t alone.

What a fruit cake. Leah thought as she watched the human all but fall down the hill. First hiking this close to a storm, and then going this far out. It was dangerous out here, didn't she know. Moron. Why couldn't people stay on trails and out of the deep woods. Leah could tell they were on the border line between Forks and La Push. Technology, she was not a Guardian Of La Push anymore. She was Jacob's beta. But old habits die hard and she was hoping to piss Paul off by crossing his path. Shaking her wolf head, Leah followed the human, down the hill silently. Just to make sure the girl out out ok.
When she started running from the dead deer, Leah could tell it was going to get bad. She sighed and let the girl get ahead of her, so she could phase to her human self.
Which meant she was not dirty. Oh joy! Shurging on her jeans and a tank top, she ran down the hill with all the grace of a wolf. Getting ahead of the girl so whoever she was wouldn't see Leah coming from the same area as the deer, and then stopped, to lean on a tree and wait for her to catch up. "Hello there." Leah said when the girl caught sight of her.

✿✿✿ Annabelle nearly jumped right out of her skin when she saw someone else. She almost screamed. It’s fine. It’s fine. Just someone else who decided to go hiking. When it was about to start storming. She tried to reassure herself that everything was okay and she wasn’t about to die like that…that deer. “Umm…hi.” She replied, extremely freaked out. The day just kept getting weirder and weirder. First, randomly deciding to hike when a lightning storm was coming, finding a dead deer with only a crescent moon mark on its neck as evidence of anything, and now, running into this complete stranger in the middle of the woods.
“Who’re you?” Anna asked, quite rudely actually, but she couldn’t help herself. After seeing what she just saw, she was definitely wondering who this person was and why she was also out in the forest. Hiking, probably. But, normally people who hiked knew enough to check the weather channel first, and realize that it was about to storm. Well, normal people did that. So, of course, Annabelle had done nothing of the sort. It wasn’t entirely her not being normal that made her do that, but also her lack of experience with anything outdoorsy. That’s what she gets for growing up in the big city of Atlanta.
Actually, Anna had half a mind to ask this stranger if she saw the deer back there. But, using her common sense, she realized that she would have to have walked farther up the hill in order to see that dead animal. Plus, she didn’t want to seem like some sort of psycho, so she didn’t say anything about it.
(NOTE: Sorry, it was a crap post. )
