Paul thought it was hilarious how so many people freaked out over prom. The event was still a couple of months away, yet everyone was scurrying around for a date . . . waiting for the perfect guy to ask them. Paul was not stressed about it, though he did know that there was no way he was going to go alone. He was not going to show up to such a massive occasion all by himself. That would look like he couldn't get a date, and he was cocky enough to believe that that was an impossibility. In fact, he already had his eyes set on who he wanted to ask.
Rebecca Black. She had been in Paul's class at year, and while he occasionally flirted with her, asking her to prom would be the first time they really had an established date. And then, if that went well . . . who knew what the summer would have in store. Paul was waiting for the lunch bell to ring so that he could ask her. She was gorgeous! And he knew he wasn't the only guy who thought so. The fact that other guys were going to ask her, and probably have already asked her, was what was making him be so efficient in confirming that he had a date when he still had months to go.
As soon as the bell rang, he made his way over to her, pushing aside another guy who was in his way. "Hey there Becca," he said smiling at her. He did not not see himself as one of those dorky guys, who couldn't get their words out because they were drooling so much. He was more confident than that, and it was apparent in the way he walked, and the way he spoke. Perhaps his confidence passed the line of arrogant, but either way . . . Paul was confident.

Rebecca was starting to hate prom. She used to love it over the years but now since everyone starting asking her she was growing tired of saying no all the time. She tapped her pencil against her notebook and waited for the bell to ring. Hopefully no one would ask her to go to prom during lunch. She sighed and immediately headed for the door once the bell rang. She strolled to her locket avoiding all the boy's stares.
She shoved all her books into her locker and slammed the door. She couldn't believe that there was that many guys in the school. She sighed and turned on her heels to find Paul Moran. "Heya Paul!" She responded. Paul had always been nice to her, well everyone had been nice to her. She liked Paul more than the rest.

Paul leaned against the locker, trying to look all suave. "How you been? Haven't talked to you in a few days." It wasn't as if they were particularly close, but he enjoyed talking to her. What guy didn't like talking/flirting with a hot girl? "You in a rush to get somewhere? If not, I thought we could have lunch together or something." Or something indeed. He would have to make sure he asked her out with enough of a build up to make sure she said yes -- in case she would be hesitant at first -- but with not too much of a build up, as he did not want to act like prom was a HUGE deal. Maybe it was a bigger deal for girls than guys . . . no it was definitely a bigger deal for girls. They got all dressed up, and stressed about getting all prettied up.

"I've been good. How about you?" She responded. As she leaned against her locker. "Nah. Yea I could have lunch with you." She said. She never had something to do these days. With her mom gone her life was dull. At least she had Rachel. Rachel had always been her best friend and always will be. She was starting to worry about prom. She had denied every single boy that asked her. What if she never got a date, then she would have to stay home all alone. She knew that Rachel must already have a date but wasn't for sure since the two sisters never talked about prom. She knew that prom was in a long time she couldn't help but worry.

"I've been good. Not up to much." It wasn't as if he was busy with school or anything. He mostly just hung out with friends. Paul was in that carefree stage, one that he never wanted to get out of. "Cool," he said as he repositioned himself so that he was walking alongside her instead of in front of her. "So what have you been up to? Getting ready for the big day?" Meaning Prom. If they were a few years older, it could have a different meaning. Paul was not going to ask her just yet though . . . he was just going to try and find out for sure whether she had a date or not.

"Well that is good." She said smiling as she pushed some of her hair back behind her shoulder. She starting to get tired, she couldn't wait to go home after school and take a nap. "Nothing. Just helping Rach take care of Jake.' She replied. "It seems so far away." She said thinking about prom. "I don't even have a date." She muttered. She wondered if Paul had a date or not. By how confident he is she knew he had a date. She sighed quietly then started walking a little slower.

"Oh yeah, you must be pretty busy with that." Right! Rachael was her twin sister . . . it was not as if he forgot, but he spoke more to Rebecca than he did with Rachael. She was more quiet and reserved, according to Paul anyway. "Yeah? How many guys have you turned down so far?" He asked smirking. He was glad to hear that she did not have a date, but he knew it wasn't due to not being asked. The Black twins were hot, any guy would want to ask either of them . . . and that was exactly what Paul was planning on doing. But not until they were seated; THEN it would be the appropriate time, not when they were walking in the hall way.
