Emily came into the house with her last load of groceries and placed them on the counter. She began going through the bags of groceries and putting certain things in the fridge and in the pantry. She left out the things she would need for today, when the boys came in to eat. She also left out the few things that she would need to make chocolate chip cookies, the boys' second favourite besides her blueberry muffins.
After everything was out of the bags, she turned on the oven and got two mixing bowl and began to blend flour, baking soda and salt into one and butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs into the other. Then she added the flour mixture and the chocolate chips into the other bowl and mixed it together. She rolled little balls out of the cookie mixture and place them on the cookie sheets. She stuck the sheets in the oven and began to work on another batch. Her boys always ate so much, the first batch of cookies would be gone in no time.
(I hope this is okay!)

Leah changed from wolf form to her human form and picked up her clothes. She stood there a moment and debated before getting dressed. She put on her pants first. This was a bad idea. She took them back off. She was so stressed she forgot her undies. Damn it.
Leah made it all the way dress, and started walking, slowly, to the front door. She was here, because she was not on patrol today and Sam had been thinking on how he wished he could help Emily.
Which annoyed and angered Leah, whenever Sam thought of Emily. However, he had thought that she had to work so hard to feed the ever growing wolf family. Which had made Leah feel guilty.
So here she was, standing on the porch, not finding the will to knock. Letting out a sigh, Leah raised a hand and knocked once, but loudly. oops. She was stronger then she thought.

Emily was mixing flour mixture into the wet ingredients when she heard a very loud knock. She jumped and almost dropped the bowl she was holding. She took a deep breath and put the bowl down and went to see to knocked, so loudly. She opened the door to see that it was Leah, who looked like she didn’t really want to be here. Emily smiled, politely and stepped aside to let her in. “Come on in, Leah. I wasn’t expecting anyone here, quite yet.”
As Leah walked in, she got the thought that maybe she was just here to tell Emily that one of the boys got hurt or something. “Is Sam and the boys okay?” She asked and walked back into the kitchen to finish her second batch of cookies.
(Sorry that it took me so long! I got distracted!)

[Esme and 'Ashy' are distracting me on MSN! If you have MSN you can join us.} {I am learning to make cookies from your posts!]
Leah nodded and walked in slowly, looking around everywhere so she didn't have to look at Emily. She missed there friendship but it was hard to move past that not only did 'fate' pick Emily for Sam, but Sam picked Emily, and fate made her be the only wolf girl there by making her no able to imprint, or have children.
Leah's head moved to Emily as she asked about Sam AND the boys. "No one is hurt. I came to help. I know how to cook." Some, "You taught me how to cook." Some. "So I thought I would help."

Emily was surprised to hear that Leah was here to help her cook but was also happy for the help. She never did mind that she was alone to cook meals for her boys but whenever help came around, she didn't refuse it. "Well, I'm just finishing up this second batch of cookies and then I was going to work on browning some ground beef for the chili. So, if you want to start browning the meat.." She pointed to the 20 pounds of ground beef that was on the counter.
Then, Emily pointed down to one of the cupboard. "I don't have a pot big enough for all of that plus everything else but there are my two largest pots are in there." She tried to smile at Leah. Emily didn't like that they weren't as close as they used to be anymore. She wanted to somehow work on that but she wasn't sure if Leah would be willing.
(Okay, so not the greatest post but I hope it's okay!)

(perfect!)
Huh. So not only was Emily not going to question that Leah was here she was going to put her to work right away. Which, if Leah admitted proved how very well Emily knew Leah. If Emily had made a big deal over Leah on her door step, Leah would have walked away, or snapped at her or worse...phased.
So apparently, Emily knew Leah well, and Leah was not going to think on that. "Sure, sure." She said walking over to the meat and looking at it. Leah then walked over to the sick and washed her hands, the back over to the meat. "Just break it up and put it in the potS?" Leah drug out the S as if she was letting everyone know she was using two pots.

Emily started rolling little balls of dough on the cookie sheets again before the oven starting ringing, telling Emily that the first batch of cookies were done. She went over to the oven and put took them all out and put them on a cooling rack. Then she finished with her second batch and put those in the oven too. "I think two batches should be enough." Emily mumbled to herself. There was over 100 cookies now with the two batches so she began to clean up her mess of flour and other such things.
She looked over at Leah when she asked if she just needed to break it up and put it in the pots. "Yeah, put half of the meat in one and the other half in the other. Then, just use the wooden spoon to move the meat around when you think the bottom part of the meat is brown enough." She said, politely.

"K k." Leah said as she started doing as she was told. She let the silence fill the room for a moment before speaking, "So, I ummm...uhhhh...." What should they talk about that wasn't going to be awkward? Not Sam. Maybe not even the wolf boys. "I went shopping with Bella in Port Angele." She had done it for Jake and bitched at Bella very step of the way, until finally shutting up and not speaking for half the day. "Got new shoes." Leah did love her shoes.
"They are blue. Have this random bow on them." Leah was just randomly talking, trying to fill the silence. She had never been one to like silence. She felt the need to fill it with something. It more often then not caused her to run her mouth and say things she shouldn't.

She listened to Leah talk about the new shoes that she got while she finished cleaning up. When Leah mentioned that she went shopping with Bella, Emily felt this huge pain in her chest. Her and Leah used to go shopping together for shoes and such. That was one thing she missed with Leah the most. "They sound really nice, Leah." She replied.
And then everything went silence. It was her turn to fill the silence with another topic. But what was there to talk about? Sam was a very sore subject for them, maybe even the boys were too.
She put the mixing bowls away and then went over to Leah. "How's the meat coming?" She asked, looking into the pots. Great, Emily. What a wonderful subject to talk about.. if you could even call it a subject.

"Yeah, nice." Leah commented awkwardly. She worked silently for a moment, then Emily spoke. "Oh...It's uhh, it's going fine. About done." Leah worked slightly quicker trying to get it done. "So, umm...How have you been?" She said while she did. She got the meat in the two pots and set them when Emily had told her.
"Your meat is done." Leah looked over at Emily and glanced at her scars. She looked away quickly but it angered her. Not only did she love Sam and Emily, but this set up had cost Emily something as well. They were all just on a boat and it was sinking but they were to damn dumb to jump ship and get the hell out of dodge.

Emily saw the meat just about done and went over to one of the cupboards and got a cutting board. She placed the cutting board beside the onions, which she would be cutting and then opened a drawer and took out a knife. She began to dice the onions, quickly. "I'm good. I'm always worrying about Sam and the boys.. and you. But I'm good." She said, as she continued to dice the onions. "How about you? How have you been? How are you dealing with being the only girl in the wolf pack?"
Just when Leah said that the meat was done, the oven rang again. "Shoot. Umm, can you get the cookies out of the oven and I'll get these onions in the pot?" Emily asked and handed her some oven mitts. Emily picked up the cutting board with the onions on it and went over to the stove. She stayed out of Leah's way and divided the onions up into the pots. She stirred the onions into the meat and when they were stirred in, she started opening the cans of tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato juice and the kidney beans and divided them up also in the pots. She stirred everything up again and put the lids on the pots. "Well, that's done. Just have to let it simmer." She paused and look over at Leah, who was just standing there. "Umm.. do you want something to drink?" Emily asked her, trying to fill the silence again.

How was she..what?! Leah's body froze and her head moved to look at her former best friend in slight shock. Did Emily not know? Had no one told her of the bitter bitch Leah had become? Why would they not tell her?
"It's fine." Leah snapped out and her first at her side balled so tight that it shook. Leah had to force her self to think of a simple brick wall in order to keep her mind from getting angry. A brick wall with dark red bricks and the smell of home.
When Leah tuned back in to what was going on around her she caught the end of Emily's question. Something about a drink. "Sure, a umm...Nothing with caffeine or alcohol please."

Emily heard the way that Leah snapped out her words and she knew that it wasn't just 'fine'. But she wasn't going to push. The way she snapped, it sounded like she was getting angry and after what happened with Sam.. she didn't want the same thing happening with her former friend.
Emily nodded when Leah told her that she did want a drink but nothing with caffeine or alcohol. Emily turned to the fridge and opened it. "Well, I've got freshly-squeezed lemonade and orange juice, milk, some fruit juice.." She said, listing off the things that she had to drink.

"Lemonade is fine." Leah answered slowly. Not from awkwardness but from trying to make sure she was in control to speak normally again. "I didn't mean to snap at you Emily." Leah spoke slowly still but not as slow as she had before. As she was letting her emotions get calm again she was able to speak more normally. "It's a sore topic. I am shocked, Sa--Sam has not spoken of it to you." Leah tripped over his name.

Emily nodded and took out the lemonade and went to get two glasses. She took the glasses and lemonade to the table and poured some into the glasses. "It's okay, Leah. I think I can understand why it would be. But no, I guess Sam didn't tell me." She turned her glaze up to Leah. "Would you like to tell me? Or should I just ask Sam about it later?" Emily asked her, nicely.
(Sorry that it is so short!)

Leah shrugged her shoulders. She had not spoken to Emily in so long like this. She missed it so much but how did you talk about a guy breaking your to the woman he left you for?
"It's not a real big deal. I just, am not in control of my emotions like I should be in order to talk about it. I don't want to..." Leah looked at Emily's scars, "I don't want history to repeat it's self. I don't know if it's safe to even try to talk about it. Maybe it's not worth the risk."

Emily nodded, understanding what she meant. She didn't want history to repeat itself either but she still trusted Leah and knew that Leah wouldn't hurt her, if that's what she thought. Unless, Leah was really not able to control her emotions instead of the little bit that I thought before. "Well, if it helps any.. I trust you. If you want to talk about it to me, you can. But if you still don't want to take the risk, it's okay. I'll just talk to Sam about it later on." Emily didn't want to push Leah but part of Emily thought that maybe talking again.. must just be the way back to being friends again.

It was the last line Emily said that made Leah's fist ball again. Talk to Sam about her!? No! Sam and Emily being all happy and talking about his 'poor Ex-Girl' and her emotional issues? "I can talk about it! I'm fine! If you want to risk it, Fine! It's your fac---" Leah stopped and closed her eyes for a moment.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." Leah muttered, "Look, Emily, I can talk about it with you." If only so she wouldn't talk to Sam about it later. "Just...Stay on the other side of the room from me or something, just in case. ok?"

Emily was caught off-guard by the way Leah snapped at her. Her last comment before she stopped hurt her. She knew what she was doing. She trusted Leah. She knew Leah wouldn't hurt her. She took a small step back from Leah when she had her eyes closed, just in case.
Then, Leah calmed herself and told her that she could talk about it with her. Emily nodded and took her glass of lemonade over to the opposite side of the room. "Is this okay?" She asked.

A small smile broke onto Leah's face and a bitter, but short laugh came out. Emily took the comment literally. Which was good, Leah had meant it that. "Yeah, thats great." Leah took a deep breath, "First I gotta I say this, I am dealing with everything in my own way. It might not be the way the old Leah would handle it, or even healthy, but I am dealing with. However with this wolf temper sometimes I say things I don't mean to say out loud. So. . . Sorry in advance?"
Leah said she might say things she did not mean to say out loud. She wondered if Emily would pick up on that. Bella hadn't. Sometimes things she thought would hurt people feelings. Leah had not said she wouldn't mean them, but that she had not meant to say it out loud. "Had Sam told you everything about being..." Leah waved her hand over her own body, "...a wolf?"

Emily knew before Leah told her that she would probably say things that she didn't mean to say out loud and she understood that. Emily would be able to handle it.. or at least, she hoped. "It's okay, Leah. I can handle whatever you say." She told Leah, trying to also tell herself that it was true.
Then, Emily nodded. "Well, what Sam wants to tell me, yes. I know he holds some things back but I know he does it.. to.. to pro.. protect me." Emily tried to find the right words to use with Leah but there were no other words coming to mind except those certain ones. So, she quickly added in a 'sorry' at the end.

Sam was protecting her. Leah's eyes lingered on Emily's scars then dropped to the floor. Better late then never. "Then stop me if you don't understand." Leah told her and then sighed. Emily had been who she told everything to and now she felt it was awkward to try to pretend they could do that again. "I see inside their heads. I don't just hear their thoughts I think them sometimes. For a girl in a guy's head....It's not fun."

Emily listened carefully to Leah when she told Emily that she could see inside their heads. She could understand why it wouldn’t be fun to be in a guy’s head. She didn’t even want to think about what any guy thinks in his head.. well, with the exception of Sam, possibly. “What do you mean.. you can see inside their heads? Like you can read their minds or what?” Emily asked, somewhat understanding but not completely.

Leah gave a shrug, "In order to move as a pack and live as a pack, when we are in wolf form we have a 'pack mind' it's like they are voices in my head. Not just things I hear, but things in my head. If they think of something, even in the back of their mind, I hear it. We can't keep secrets and we can't lie to each other."
"It's not fun nor easy when almost every one of them, have seen you nude." That last saw said bitterly. Every woman had some sort of pride. Having a bunch of teenage wolfs see you nude, and then hear your thoughts and pity you....yeah, being a wolf was great!

(I am drawing blanks so I apologize in advance!)
Emily tried to go over what Leah said to her over and over again.. until she finally understood. It took her a minute to finally get it the whole thing. She knew that it would definitely be uncomfortable to have a bunch of teenage boys see you nude. "Well, now, I can understand why it's hard to be the only girl in the wolf pack."
She looked down at the ground. She wasn't sure she wanted to ask this question but she asked it anyways. "What do you hear?" Emily asked. She hoped that Leah could understand that she meant more Sam than the others. After what happened between the three of us, Emily was sure Leah had a hard time with Sam's thoughts if he ever thought about her.

Leah wished Emily wouldn't ask these things from her. Leah knew darn well Emily wanted to know what she saw in Sam's head. Leah bitter she almost choked. She didn't know you could choke on an emotion but there it was. Leah bit her lip til she tasted blood in order to fight back the choking and the works she wanted to say in order to hurt Emily the way Emily and Sam had hurt her.
Leah let her lip go and it was healed before she could finish shrugging her shoulders as if the question was nothing. "Everything." Wanting to leave it at that but also knowing if she did not give Emily something then she would ask more and more Leah spoke again, "How they feel about each other, about me. How they feel about friends and family. What they think of them selfs and others. I see what they dream....Everything...."

When Emily saw the reaction she got out of Leah when she asked her question, she almost regretting saying it but she still wanted to know the answer. She didn’t mean to put her former best friend and cousin in any pain but she needed to know. She saw Leah’s lip heal and then she got her answer. Leah heard every single thing that any of the boys thought, even for a split second. Leah saw everything that happened between her and Sam and I was sure that hurt her. “I’m sorry.” Was all Emily could say. She felt horrible for this. Although she couldn’t stop what Sam thought, she didn’t want Leah to be at all hurt by this.

Leah stayed silent for a bit and then shurged her shoulders, "Don't be." Was all she said but they both knew there would be more. "You didn't ask what I thought you would." But Leah knew Emily had wanted to. "You didn't ask me what I see in Sam's head."
Leah finally looked up at Emily, not explain more. Just waiting to see if Emily would speak up and ask her the question that might but Leah over the edge or if she would back out of this line of questioning. Leah even knew how she would reply. Words meant to hurt and reassure at the same time. Suddenly Leah wanted Emily to ask her, wanted the change to tell Emily just what she did see in Sam's head.
"Ask me." Leah whispered loud enough for Emily to hear, bitterness filled her voice.

Emily shrugged her shoulders. "Leah, I don't want to hurt you. I know we aren't friends anymore but I still love and care about you. I don't want to see you in pain." Emily admitted to Leah and then went quiet. Then, she heard Leah tell Emily to ask her the question. She could easily hear the bitterness in her voice. At first, Emily didn't want to. She began to shake her head, about to tell her no. But the way Leah asked her, she knew that if she said no, she may phase. So, Emily took a deep breath and began to ask her the question. "What.. what does Sam.. see?" She studded over her words.

"I see you." Leah said with a bitter and angry tone, but soft, and not yelling. "I see how he feels about you, how thinks about you. His memories of you. From that first moment he saw you, and all the way up til when he kisses you goodbye before going on patrol. I see you." Leah's hand was shaking so hard. "I see his guilt over---" Emily's face. "--What he did to you."
"When he thinks of you, and I am there, it's in my head. I see me too, you know. When he thinks of me. Oh poor Leah. The slight guilt over what he did, the pity that this happened to me. They all think one."
"When this happened to him, I was there by his side! I was the one who held him when he came back from turning into THIS! I stood by him when he needed someone the most! I was there--" Leah's voice broke in bitterness, anger and tears.
"One look at you and I wasn't even a close 2nd anymore."
