.:Basic Personality:.Harper had always been a fairly humble boy when he was growing up. He was the middle child of five brothers, and had always blended into the background. He would speak when spoken to, and would rather go out an hunt alone than go into town and seek out a possible wife. He spent most of his time out in the woods by his home, and over time became the family's main food supplier. He didn't mind, because he knew it was his duty to do whatever he could to support his family. He never gloated, nor felt that he was better than his brothers, though they sometimes thought he did.
Harper had always been a good Christian boy, praying every night and repenting for his sins. He even sent out a prayer for every kill he made, thanking God for the food. When he was turned by one of the Volturi and orphaned into the clan, they raised him as a newborn and taught him that he needed human blood to survive. At first, he felt a little remorse for the killing, but he quickly accepted the nature of life, and never questioned it. But when a new life style was presented to him, he jumped at the chance to live a better life. He didn't want to be a killer, and felt such joy at the prospect of not having to be.

.:History:.
It was a mid August day, and Harper had taken the crisp, clean weather as a godsend to go hunting. It was always much easier to hunt in the warmer weather. He took his rifle and his hunting knife, and set off. His ears were tuned to pick up the smallest movements, and his eyes trained to detect the tiniest trails. After years of hunting, he was a deadly machine. He knew most of the land around him by heart, and could make his way home even in the dead of night. one hundred feet away, and he say an ear twitch above the long grass. A doe, it was. He quietly took hold of his gun, and crept closer. His feet instinctively found the sneakiest way across, barely alerting the deer. Only twenty feet away, and his presence was detected. The doe lifted her head, and without any preamble, sprinted off.
A curse on his lips, and he was running after her. In her frantic escape, she led him straight into a clearing, and one that wasn't empty. Six beautiful, terrifying creatures stood tall, their pale skin almost glowing inn contrast to the dark of the forest around them. The sky was overcast with fluffy gray clouds, promising no warmth from the sun. He froze where he was, and noted that he didn't see a single one look his way, but somehow they knew he was there. He couldn't have run even if he wanted to, because the air of tension, danger, anger, and tear rooted him to the spot. He watched in a daze as four of the six seemed to interrogate two others, but could not catch a word that left their perfect lips. And suddenly, with no warning he could spot, two of the bigger men sprung forward in a movement so quick he almost missed it. A terrible, screaming sound was heard, and he stared in horror as they let the two questionees on fire.
His mouth dropped open, and he wanted nothing more than to run away, but the remaining group, three men and a female, turned to him simultaneously. On every face was the look of a hungry killer that made his blood run cold, with one exception. This exception looked at Harper strangely, and seemed to be pondering over something. He barked out what sounded like an order, too low and too fast for Harper to have a chance at overhearing, and the others responded in the like. Only moments later, and the group seemed to relax as one, and the one man stepped forward. "I am Eleazer." he said. "I am a vampire, son. And I have a gift, one that allows me to sense others' powers. It is up to me to decide who is special enough to take back with us, and you are special. I believe that our beloved Aro would love your addition to our team. So, what say you?"
Harper really didn't have a choice. The beautiful man's voice sounded angelic, and it mesmerized him. How could he ever deny something so fine? It was impossible to even think about declining an invitation to spend a second longer with him. His previous feelings of fear had just disappeared when Eleazer spoke, and Harper made his head nod. "Of course, I would like nothing more." And though he didn't have the slightest clue what he was getting himself into, he left with them without a second thought of his family. Harper wasn't actually bitten until after he was presented to Aro, and gotten his approval. After the three days of incredible agony, Harper woke up to his new life. He found out that he could literally send his sight anywhere he wanted, within a certain boundary. Aro seemed pleased, and sent him to work to almost constantly watching the groups around the city, keeping an eye out for any unexpected visitors. Harper's gift was nothing special, nothing that could get him to be a favorite like the twins, but he did whatever his master asked.
Harper drank from humans, and thought nothing of it. It was just an accepted part of life; he needed to to survive. Aro had never once mentioned the idea of another lifestyle, a vegetarian one, and Harper was amazed when he first met Edward, Alice, and Bella. Hearing their story, hearing about their bizarre way of life, Harper was enraptured. A life without killing humans? It seemed too good to be true. He wanted to run away with the Cullens that day, to watch how they did it and try it out for himself. But his escape would have to be much more thought out. He confronted Aro a few months after, and told him of his desire to leave. Aro was disappointed, and had his followers do whatever they could, but Harper's will was stronger. He managed, unbelievably, to break free of Chelsea's hold on him, and set out. Currently, he is making his way to the Cullens, hoping to find a new home.
