"He will heal! He just can't heal when your still here rubbing salt in his wounds." Leah had to believe Jake would heal. That she would heal. She could relate to Jake. Bella was his Sam. If she could leave and not see Sam every day, she could heal too. But she couldn't. She was trapped. "trust me on this, one thing."

Bella smiled slightly she was never real comfortable with Leah, but she could trust her. "I'll try," Bella knew how hard this was going to be. To stay away from Jake was something she would hate. But she wanted him to be happy, to find someone that he wanted. She knew it would be for the best. She remembered that Jake had told her she couldn't have both. She was being selfish thinking she could have them both.
"I promise you I'll try and stay away from Jake. He deserves so much better." It was true she didn't deserve Jake she didn't even deserve Edward. He was so perfect how he loved her she still didn't understand, but wouldn't trade it for anything.

{Nice new sig there!}
Leah wondered if she was doing the right thing for a moment. When Jake found out he was going to explode. "Yeah," She thought of Sam and Emily and knowing Jake was fighting a losing battle. "It's not going to be easy. It's going to hurt like a bitch for a bit." Leah said bluntly. "Your doing the right thing here. Giving him time to heal. If he stood a chance then it would be one thing, but it doesn't look like he dose."
"Look, Bella, I know this sucks to hear from me. I'm not anyone's favorite person. I get that. But if you don't stop it, then Jake is going to turn out like me. He used to be a happy-go-lucky guy. Now he is sarcastic and grumpy. And once upon a time, I was a happy-go-lucky girl." mostly anyway.
"I am trying to help him, even if it seems I am only causing trouble." She hoped Bella understood.

[Thanks!]
Bella nodded her head in understanding. She remembered when Jake use to be her sun. Every time she saw him she was thrilled, but now their relationship was so hard. He was different ever since Edward came back. She had heard over and over that they were enemies they couldn't possibly get along. She knew this would be for the best, for Jacob. I wish he would be his old self again. You really think if I give him time he will be back to his cheerful goofy self?"

"I think, with time, yeah....maybe..." Leah stopped talking and took a few bite while thinking. "I think, he will be less bitter, and more relaxed, yes. I don't know if he will ever be....that Jake again." She admitted.
We can never know." Leah told her, "I only know what will help. I can only give you advice and hope your smart enough to do whats best for Jacob and not what's best for Bella. It may sound mean, and harsh and un-fair, but there is it."

Bella frowned. She just wanted Jake to be like he was before. Her sun, he was always so cheerful and their relationship was so easy. Leah was right she was being selfish trying to fit both Edward and Jacob in her life. They had both told her they couldn't both exist in her happy little world. She couldn't have both of them. "It may be mean, but it's true."

. . . and Leah officially felt like the biggest jerk out there. She knew she was sounding mean to Bella and it annoyed her, which angered her. "Yeah. . ." Awkward silences made her edgy, all this emotion was not a good thing. "Look, you want to shop for shoes or something? We can do the girl thing."
Not talk about Jake, vampires, travel, romances, or any topic that could lead to boyfriends, dates, or men in general. Oh yeah, this was going to be tons of new kinds of fun. "Books!"
Leah remembered Jake thinking of talking Bella to a book store because she liked BOOKS! A safe topic. "We can book shop!"

Bella smiled books was something that would distract her mind. It would get them from talking about their lives back home. Distraction is something they needed right now. Their conversation was getting to serious for a girl's day out. "Books would be great!" Bella said more than ready to stop talking about their lives.

"Books!" Leah said randomly and put the rest of her food in her mouth in effort to be able to move on from here and do something besides sit and chat. "What do you like the read, Bella?" Leah thought this was a safe topic! How could books go wrong? Personally Leah liked all books. She wasn't a huge reader but when she did read something it was anything with a good point to it.

"I love just about any book," Bella said thinking about. Was there a book she had read that she hadn't liked? When she was looking for a good book to read she did tend to get a bit distracted and lose track of time. She hoped Leah wouldn't mind. "I can get distracted by looking at books. So this might take a longer than for a normal person."

"That's cool." Leah said just to be glad to have something to either do or talk about or, hell, in a book store she could walk away if needed. "Let me know when your done eating and we can head on over there. It's not to far." It was down a few blocks and over about three. They could walk, but it would be faster if they crossed the park. Leah would let her pick which way later.

Bella nodded her head. She quickly finished her meal and took a sip of her drink. "Ready!" Bella said ready to leave. She got out some money to pay for the meal. She had looked for a book store in Port Angeles before, but that hadn't turned out to well.

Leah got up, and decided to let Bella pay for this and she would pick up a tab later in the day to make up for it. Since Bella had already gotten the money out, Leah just reminded silent. Leah thought about making a joke about having to buy anger management books while she was there but then thought it didn't sound like a bad idea.
It would give her something to do if Bella got distracted and took to long in the store. "K, k." Leah said and walked to the door. "Worse part of being a wolf is I am never full, the best part is I never seem to gain any weight." It was the best 'joke' Leah to sum up to fill the silence.

Bella paid the bill and smiled at Leah. "I suppose that is a good point," Bella said as she walked outside. Bella looked around, "The last time I tried to find a bookstore it didn't turn out...." Bella paused slightly. Yes, the last time she had attempted to find a bookstore it didn't turn out well at all. She was real lucky Edward was keeping track of her. Though she didn't know at the time he could really read minds, it was just a theory. She would never forget that night, she had told him what she thought and found it was true. "To well. I hope you know where a bookstore is," Bella didn't want to travel all over Port Angeles.

"What dose that mean?" Leah asked wondering how a book store didn't turn out. She wondered if Bella had a 'Bella moment' and fell down or something. Leah knew were the store was. "I know where it is, I can take us the quick way though the park, or the long way and we can stay on the flat ground, and side walks. You can pick."
Leah wondered if Bella was going to explain the 'not turn out' comment, or if this was going to be another one of their awkward chats.

"I got lost," Bella said a simple reply she was going to get into to much detail. That was a reasonable answer. And it was partially true she did get lost in the wrong part of town. Maybe Leah would drop it, but she never knew with Leah. "We can go the quick way if you want," Bella responded she would like to get their quickly.

Leah gave a short shrug when Bella said she got lost. "I wont let us get lost, so your safe." Leah then grinned, "I should warn you, it's not a walk in the park...well it is but it's not a easy walk. It's not flat grounds. It's a short hike, but we can move slow. It's early yet, and it will be fine." Leah was going to be glad to walk though the park, and smell the clean air.
"It should take us but 15 mins, 20 if we walk real slow." Since Bella was a real klutz.

"Hike?" Bella questioned. She could barely walk on stable ground. Bella groaned, "I hope you can be patient," Bella warned. Maybe taking the long way would have been a better way. But she was sure she could do a short hike, maybe.

"Of course I can!" Leah said brightly knowing damn well she wasn't. "Don't worry. Worse case, I can phase and get Jake to come pick you up." Leah grinned, "Save a horse, ride a werewolf." She laughed at her self, and started walking, slowly, to the park.
"Ever go hiking Bella? I know your not the most sportsie girl but maybe with more practice you could get better." Not that Leah cared. "I was just thinking, that, if you did it more then maybe you find it helped with your walking troubles. Like training wheels, but for walkers."

Bella smiled slightly at hearing she had patients, but she wasn't to sure if she really did. She did seem to have a bit of a temper at times. "I've gone hiking a little," Bella answered. It had been a five mile hike to Edward's meadow took hours, and he takes her back and it only takes a few minutes. "But not in a while."

"It's mostly flat, ground. There is just rocks and things in the way. It's meant to be a walking trail, for people just want to pretend to be out of the city for a bit. It's not a real hike. I think you'll be fine of you watch out for the rocks."
"Were do you you--" Leah was about to ask were Bella hiked but remembered hearing about how Sam and the others saved her from the vampire. "Right right. Never mind. Hey, can I ask you something with you taking it the wrong way. They say this va--" Leah noticed the people around them and called him something else, "They say this--friend--of yours is fast. How fast is fast?" Leah was not asking for any other reason then pride. She was the fastest of her kind, he was the fastest of his.
but was was faster?

"I hope so," Bella really hoped she would be okay. She would probably down several times before the actually made it, but she would try.
"I'm really not sure, really fast," Bella had no clue how fast Edward was, but it was fast. It always seemed like when he would run it took just minutes to get to their destination. But she wasn't sure how fast that was.

"Yeah but, how fast is fast?" Leah asked trying to see it in her head, "I mean compare it something. Or--" Leah looked over at Bella, "Have you seen him run all out?" Leah looked away again and thought it out in her head. Trying to see how fast she could and trying to think of how fast vamps could go.
The pack had chased a few vampires down. It was work but they could do it. She was the fastest of them all. Out of her own kind. Could she take Edward in a race?

"Well," Bella said while thinking about it. She thought about the baseball field the second time she saw the Cullen's. Emmett was the strongest and hit the ball she thought it was a home run, but Edward was the fastest so it didn't become a home run. But had that been the fastest he could be? She had never asked him how fast he could be so she really wasn't sure if she had seen him at his fastest or not. He was so much faster than herself, so just about anything he did was fast.
"I might have seen him at his fastest, but I'm really not sure. He's a bit more careful around me I think," Bella answered.

"Hmmm." Leah said and drifted into deep thought as they walked. She could see the park entrance now. She headed that way, while trying to do bad math in her head. "I was just wonderin'. Cuz I am the fastest of my kind." She said thinking Bella would understand from that what she meant. Leah got to the cross walk and pressed the button to cross. She waited for light to change before going out into the traffic.

Bella nodded her head in understanding. Leah was wanting to know if she was faster than Edward, he was the fastest in his family and she in her pack. She didn't think anything could be faster than Edward, but she could be wrong. "I really don't know who would be the fastest," Bella replied hiking through following Leah. She almost fell a few times, but quickly picked herself up catching up with Leah.

Leah grinned at Bella's words. Leah liked to think she would know who was fastest. She liked to think it was her. If you had to be sucked into this horrible world of weirdness then might as well be the best at something. However, she also recognized that Vampires could go longer then her. In a sprint she might win, in long distance, she would get tired, and the soulless could go on and on and on and on....damn them.
"Maybe I will try to find out one day." Leah said, not hinting at any harm being done, just an honest race. She wouldn't blink if Sam order them to kill, but until then, the Cullens were off limits.

Bella shrugged, "Maybe." It would be amusing to see Edward's reaction he would agree to a race. He loved to go fast and racing would probably be something he enjoyed as well. He was always betting with his brothers, Emmett and Jasper just might bet on that race if it was to happen.
"How much further?" Bella asked curious it seemed like they had gone a long ways. Bella carefully watched her footing so she wouldn't fall down, and end up hurting herself like she always did.

MILES Leah wanted to snap at her, but did her best to remain, 'at peace'. She had been lost in her thoughts about racing the vamp boy rather then pay attention to the vamp girl. "We are not even half way there." Leah looked back at her, and noticed Bella looked. . . haha
"Dude, man. Your not a hiker are ya?" Leah said it more as a statement rather then a question. "We can sit here for a moment of ya want." She pointed to a rock, and moved to it. "You might want to."

Bella had almost fallen several times she didn't think Leah had noticed her lose her balance, but she might have and just not said anything about it. There weren't even half way there Bella's face was probably entertaining as she glanced at her.
"No not really," Bella answered Leah's questioned even though it was really a question. She was not a hiker she always ended up falling and hurting herself and always slowed down whoever she was hiking with. Bella nodded her head as she took a seat on a lump.
