[Ooc: Open to all, time frame is Pre-Eclipse/End New Moon]
It was a usual, cloud covered day just outside the small town of Forks, Washington where the Cullen residence lie. The entire Olympic Peninsula was usually covered by the gray clouds. Though today the clouds did not remain silent; they drained of rain, flooding the ground in puddles.
Esme found herself sitting at the rarely used dining room table of the gargantuan home. A pad of off-white paper sat in front of her, one of her many sketch books. She held a pencil lightly in her right hand, letting it streak across the page in quick, graceful movements. Esme had a knack for antique restoration, she had restored many items in her lifetime from small things like a simple end table to the larger things, like this house. She liked to keep things true to what they had originally been, but at the same time cater to the needs of whoever would be using the antique. Esme planned everything out, the smaller things in sketch books, the larger things on huge pieces of paper. Today she planned out a simple china cabinet that she had stored in the garage.
She let her light gold eyes trail away from the page and look around the surrounding dining room.

Carlisle pulled his car into the garage after a 18 hour shift at the hospital. With the heavy snow and cold weather there had been, it was flu season. He had only meant to work a 16 hour shift, but it wasn't as if he got tired. Once, he would hate going home, feeling as if he should be doing more. Helping more. Saving more.
Now he loved to go home. Esme made this a haven, and he rarely felt bad about going on. Well, there were times he felt he should be doing more, however, he would love to spend every moment at home, watching her work.
Getting out, and walking in, quickly since no humans were around. He followed her sent, until he found her. When he saw her, he slowed and walked at human pace into the room, smiling.

As Esme worked a huge smile appeared on her face, having heard the familiar sound of a car turn down the long drive to their house. Carlisle. The thought of him being home instantly calmed her, brightening her day. She felt complete.
She listened carefully, her hand still gliding across the page, waiting for his approach. She knew the exact moment he pulled into the garage, got out of the car, zoomed up to the house and through the door.
She looked up in the direction he was coming from, meeting his light colored eyes and smiling face with her own. She smiled warmly at him, letting her hand rest on the page. "Hello," she greeted, "How was work?"

He smiled back at her as he stood in the door way. "Hello, Esme." He said softly, a human would not have heard it. It was barely there, but Esme would have heard it clearly. "Work was busy. The cold weather has caused quite a few humans to get sick. . . and a a few children to try to pretend to be sick to get out of school." He said with a chuckle remembering the two Olson boys who came in and were not really sick. "They were disappointed to be sent home, and back to school tomorrow."
"Are you working on a new project?" He asked, walking closer to her and looking over her shoulder. He bent close as if he needed a better look, when the both knew he did not. Carlisle liked any excuse to be close to her.

Esme's smile turned humorous as Carlisle talked about his day. She rolled her gold eyes as he mentioned the boys. "Children will be children," she commented, setting her writing utensil on the side of the pad and letting both her hands rest in her lap. "Hopefully it starts to slow down a little," she said, "So you don't have to work so many hours." Esme knew how much Carlisle loved to work in the hospital, how compassionate he was about it, but it was still hard to be apart from him. Even after all these years Esme had not gotten used to the fact.
Esme turned to look at her work as Carlisle asked about. She slightly shrugged her delicate looking shoulders as she glanced over the intricately sketched cabinet. It didn't need too much work, the sketch showed the finished project she wanted to create. But in the garage sat a broken cabinet that needed new glass doors, a new stain, and a couple minuscule details that Esme wanted to add. "Yes, just something I've had stored waiting for when I had the inspiration to work on it," she told him.

Carlisle chuckled when she said she hoped it slowed down so he could be home more. It was hard for him to be away from her. As much as he wanted to help, he wanted to just be around her more. He didn't reply to her comment, however. He just nodded his head and smiled. The weather would be warmer soon, then he would still have to handle the hikers who came in from out of town.
"And are you inspired?" He asked with a hint of warm humor in his voice. He knew she loved doing this. Giving things life again, and bringing them back to it's full glory. He even had a gift for her in her trunk; he had been saving the old 1800's bridal chest for a few days. He had wanted to give it to her, but had waited until he found some of the other classic parts that went with it. This way she would not have to look on-line for parts, order them, wait, make sure they were the correct ones. Now she only had to just work on it. The fun part.

"Seems that way," Esme said, looking up at Carlisle with a smile. She glanced back down at her work, admiring the penciled sketch, and then closed the book, tucking the pencil down the middle of the spiral binding. The project could wait for the next time Esme found herself home alone. She turned around in her chair to look back up at her husband.
"What are we going to do now?" she asked him, "Now that you're home."

Smiling he took her hand, "I have a surprise for you." He loved giving her things. Loved to see her face light up even over the smallest things he did give her. It made him feel things that until she had entered his life he had not felt. Even simple things, were a big deal when he was with her. "Follow me." While he said, follow me, he still planned to walk by her side and hold her hand.
"What are the others doing?" He asked while taking in a deep breath, to smell how was in the house. He missed his whole family when he was gone however, he always went straight to Esme when he arrived home from work. Always. He knew no one was in the garage, so he could give her his gift with just them around. Not that he wouldn't have given it with others around, but he liked some alone time with her.

Esme's smile brightened as Carlisle mentioned a surprise. She wondered what he had up his sleeve this time. Esme enjoyed getting things from Carlisle, anything he gave her was special. She intertwined her fingers between his and stood up to stand beside him. "What's the surprise?" she asked in a sweet voice.
"I'm not sure where the others are," she started, "Though I'm sure Edward is with Bella, Rose with Emmett, and Jasper with Alice." Her smile turned huge at the words, all of them had someone to love now. Edward was no longer the odd man out, and Esme couldn't be happier. Bella was now part of the family.

Her smile made him smile. He knew she loved how they were evenly paired, at lest for now. Carlisle wondered what Edward and Bella would work out. He had promised to 'help her' after High school but, he wanted Edward's approval. He wanted to be sure this was what Bella wanted. This life wasn't easy.
The thought back to Esme's first year as a vampire and then thought of Bella. Did she know what she was getting in to? Was she ready? Was Edward? He walked with her in deep thought for a half second before looking down at her. "It seems our family will be getting bigger soon." He was thinking of when Bella 'joined' them.

Esme beamed up at Carlisle as he talked about their family getting larger. Her grin extending across her face. Esme was ecstatic at the thought. There family would be pretty much complete now, each of them having found someone they'd want to spend forever with. Bella would soon become one of them and be able to be part of the Cullen Coven, completing Edward's life.
"Good thing we have room for us all," Esme told him with a smile. Even if they didn't, Esme would take it upon herself to build a home big enough for them all.

"True, but you might have to find Edward and Bella a place close by whereever we move next. I hate to not speand time with them but, I remember Rose and Emmett's time well." He said laughing slightly at how they had been ver public.
Leading her to the back of his car, he gave her an excited smile. "I found this and thought of you." He, being a gentleman, moved to open the trunk for her. In it was her gift, which he lifted for her. Esme was strong enough she could have done it, however Carlisle liked doing it for her. He moved it to Rosalie's very clean work bench. Then stepped back so she could look at it while he got the parts he had ordered for her on-line from the passenger seat and to shut his trunk.

Laughing along with Carlisle, Esme remembered Rosalie and Emmett in the beginning. "Oh yes, definitely going to need a separate area for them. Especially if they're anything like those two," Esme teased. When you become a vampire every sense you had before is maximized and more noticeable. Including love and the things that follow. It was difficult to pull yourself from the one you loved for even a short amount of time if you were lucky enough to find someone you loved in such a way.
Esme watched as Carlisle pulled the trunk of his Mercedes open revealing her surprise. Esme's mouthed opened slightly. The bridals chest that he surprised her with was stunning, even in this run down state. It appeared to be something from the 1800's or so. Quite the antique. Once Carlisle had set it on the work bench she reached a hand out to touch the wood finish. "Carlisle..." she started, "It's gorgeous."
She turned to look at her husband once he returned from getting the necessary pieces for this new project. The smile and expression on her face was one of pure joy. She took the few steps to bring her closer to him before reaching both her marble smooth, cold hands to either side of his face, easing herself up on to her tiptoes and kissed him, letting her lips form around his. Pulling away she murmured, "Thank you. I love it." She kissed him one more time before letting the heals of her feet return to the hard concrete of the garage.
She turned to face the antique chest, wrapping her left arm around Carlisle's waste, letting her body lean into him naturally. She let her head rest on his shoulder. "It's so gorgeous," she told him quietly. "I love you," she added, looking up at him with a smile.

His grin got brighter as she reacted to his gift. He would bring her a surprise every day of he could. "I am glad you like it. I found it and thought of you. It looked so warn down and untaken care of, and I knew you would enjoy bring out it's former glory." He wrapped his arm around her and when her body leaned into his, he held her there soft, but firmly.
"Besides, I bought it for selfish reasons too. I really love watch you work. This will give me some time to watch you." He leaned over and kissed the top of her head. "I got some things to help you work on it, new hinges, and oils. If I have forgotten anything, then I am sorry."

Listening to his words Esme stared at the new piece, planning it all out in her head as he spoke. It was wonderful and she would get started on it soon, rather than keeping it hidden away for several years. "Of course I like it, how could I not?" she responded.
Esme smiled as he explained how he thought of himself as selfish for purchasing the chest so he could watch her work. "You really aren't selfish..." she whispered, still admiring her new gift. Esme gave him a slight squeeze around the waist before she spoke again. "I'm sure you've gotten everything," she told him, "And if not, I'm sure I have it in the house."

"Oh but I am selfish when it comes to you Esme." He said in a teasing tone, and turned to face her, "I love to watch you work. Some men would trade everything to watch Monte work on some of his paintings, or Leonardo build his inventions, but they can never get the chance. I get to watch you."
He leaned down and let his kiss touch hers, "Let me carry it in for you." He knew she could carry it but he came from a time where it was polite to do it for her. Some of today's women saw men doing this as a way of degrading women, and calling them weak. They missed the thoughts behind it, Carlisle knew she could do it, but wanted to do everything he could to make her happy and her live easier on her. He wanted to move mountains and swim seas for her. Carrying something for her was just a small step.

Smiling warmly Esme spoke again. "Oh, I'm hardly a Monte or a Leonardo," she told him, letting her arm fall from his waist. She pulled her eyes from the new gift to meet Carlisle's. "Thank you," she whispered to him again.
"If you would like to," she agreed when he offered to carry the chest for her. "I'll just grab the accessories." She grabbed the back of extra supplies her husband had purchased along with the chest. She walked slowly to the edge of the garage and waited. "We can just put it in my study," she suggested. Esme's study was connected through a door in Carlisle's office, it was the only way to get there.

"I had the rare chance to meet one of the afore mentioned men and trust me, they might be more well known but you have more passion for your work then they did." Carlisle lifted her trunk and turned to carry it inside. "And, you look allot better when working, then Monte did." He teased her.
Monte was a painter he happened to meet once during a trip over seas. It was however, when no one had heard of him, and he was just starting out. Not the older man who everyone thought of when they thought of the French painter.

Following as Carlisle carried her new gift into the house she couldn't help but chuckle as Carlisle talked about Monte and the way she appeared better looking when working on her projects. "Well I do think you are a little biased," she told him as she led him up the couple flights of stairs to his office door.
Holding the door open for him she smiled warmly. She couldn't believe how lucky she was to have such a husband as him. She had certainly been blessed in this life. "You know," she started, "You spoil me too much." And it was an obvious, true fact. She wasn't sure how she deserved it all.

"I don't think I spoil you quite enough to suit me." He said as he sat the chest down effortlessly. Once he did he turned to look at her. He remembered all to well the site of her in the morgue and the wrongs that had been done to her, when she was human. He would spent forever making this wife better for her.
"I plan to spoil you much more, be fore warned." He teased her, yet at the same time, tried to think of how.

"Please don't," she told him in response to his promise to spoil her some more. "Really, I don't deserve all of this." She glanced around meaningfully, referring to it all. The house, her family, him, the gifts. What had she done in her life to deserve any of it?
She turned to face him once more, taking the couple steps to reach him. Once more, she wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug, resting her head on his shoulder. "How could I deserve all of this?," she asked with a smile.
